Great atmosphere, great food, good beer, excellent service. What more could you ask for? The duck fried rice was spot on. Popular with locals as well as visiting golfers

We returned here this month after having a lovely meal a couple of years ago. The food was ok and the waiting staff were nice enough/adequate , having waited a while for someone to take payment after receiving the bill we went up to the bar to pay. The lady at the bar took payment while serving drinks to other customers , the option on the card machine asked if we wanted to leave a tip and when we pressed no she was watching us and asked abruptly and with hostility if we had a problem with the service, when we said no she asked why we hadn’t tipped. I’ve never ever experienced that before anywhere it was so rude, especially as we could have left a cash tip on the table. Really rude and totally unprofessional. I would suggest adding a compulsory service charge or making it clear that tipping is compulsory. It felt very tacky for staff to be pressuring and shaming customers to tip them.

Stopped in around 3.15pm following a round of golf. Great selection of well kept beer and lovely fresh home cooked food. Friendly , helpful welcoming staff.

Fantastic meal called in without a booking and was accommodated with a table, food was fresh and piping hot. I went for the club house curry beef madras, and my wife had a chicken burger. The chips were delicious and the drinks were quite expensive at £6.90 a pint for premium Italian larger. Will definitely return when next in the area.

Love coming here especially since you can dress casual. The setting is of older, comfortable, quirky style with lots of things to look at from days gone by pictures, taxidermy, etc Great place for a catch up with friends since it’s a friendly, welcoming, chilled out environment. The food is the best and will not disappoint. Be it nachos, fish, steak, there’s something for everyone here. If you are disabled there is a side entrance and they do have a large disabled toilet. It’s brilliant in the summer as there is seating outside as well. It has a great bar and whether sitting inside or out the views across the putting green to the hills beyond is just beautiful. Love catching up with friends here and if you’ve not been I suggest you give it a go. I’m sure you too will get hooked on all this place offers.

Love this place we always go now and again lovely food as usual defenetly worth the visit for lunch or dinner or brekky and van sot outside aswell if you want xx

Boxing Day It’s a good place with a friendly atmosphere. I asked my guests how their food was and was informed that the fish was dry and the batter too thick. Beef burghers were dry. As a lifelong habit I leave a 10% tip in cash under a plate where a waiter can find it after one has left. I never tip if invited to do so on a card machine and do not leave cash in such circumstances. Invitations to tip are bad mannered and a deterrent to returning.

Used to be a favourite of ours. We eat here 4/6 times a month. New staff have the ‘upselling’ approach. Get drink orders in within 5 mins and then leave alone. We recently dropped in for lunch and were told that no tables were available but two high bar stools. The restaurant was almost empty and loads of tables were still unoccupied when we left. We were there again today as part of a family group. Drinks served within minutes, but we had to find someone to take our order after 25 mins. Has it changed owners? A very marked difference. Most upsetting was listening to a very elderly couple at the table next to us complain that their bread was hard. The waiter’s only response was ‘it’s sourdough, it’s meant meant to be hard’ it would have taken so little effort to make their experience better.

The Old Clubhouse change their menu seasonally so visited to check it out. As usual the offerings are varied, creative, plentiful and delicious and are supplemented by specials which are wonderful too. In addition to a fantastic meal of sharing plates, the service remains friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. On this particular night there was live music which amped up the vibe to an even more fantastic and fun evening for many very happy locals and visitors.

First visit last Thursday and was excellent. Nice welcoming staff and food and service were very good. An old styled restaurant with loads of artefacts and stuffed animals which is very quaint. Toilet like something from the starship enterprise though 😂 Will be back next year

The Old Clubhouse is traditionally our first stop for dinner in Scotland. The restaurant is an eclectic collection of local memorabilia. The menu has expanded over years, but I must start with their fish and chips which are fabulous. The soups, appetizers and desserts are also delicious

Perfect table, perfect meal, perfect service...what does one want more? The highlight is the Cullen skink., A fish soup made of smoked haddock, leek and potatoes. A creamy delicious comfort food. We'll booked for a second time!

This has been our local for many years but the quality of the food and service has sadly gone very downhill. We ordered a bottle of wine which was literally thrown onto our table with our glasses without a word from the teenage server. My wife's fish and chips was good and I had the sirloin steak special. My steak was cooked medium rare as requested but was a very poor cut of meat, it was sinewey and very chewy, I left more than half of it. Our plates then sat in front of us for a good 20 minutes whilst some of the staff appeared to be engrossed with their friends and at no point were we asked if the meal was ok. Sadly, it just appears this once fantastic place is just going downhill (this is not just based on today) with a general decline in the quality of food and standards of service not to mention the complete lack of interest in whether or not the food was any good. Pity.

Still so good . Hadn’t been for about a year and it’s just so good . Was so busy but the staff we’re definitely on it for service . Our fish and chips were even better than we remembered and the other meals around us looked excellent . Won’t leave it so long to return .

Lovely pub with friendly staff and loads of interesting niknaks to look at at. 3 of my party could not fault their steak pies and burger. Unfortunately my choice of the Brazilian Feijoada was bland, tasteless and very poor value for money at £21 . I won't let this put me off returning.

Best Cullen Skink that I have ever eaten. Prawn curry, a daily special, was also fabulous. Dined outdoors on a pretty day, terrific service.

Had not pre-booked, had been wandering about town and stopped in and asked for a table for our very large party. It was obviously busy and we expected to be turned away. However, the rude response was way worse than being told there was nothing available. The only word to describe her reaction to our request was disgust! She told us ‘yes there are tables…OUTSIDE!’ We went outside but discussed amongst ourselves how rude she was and how she clearly did not want our custom. She came behind us with another member of staff who nicely explained that we were welcome but may have to wait awhile as there were many ahead of us. To which the rude woman added ‘…people who have booked’. Needless to say we went elsewhere and she cost her employer approx £300.

Highly recommend this restaurant and especially the loaded nachos, I rarely find myself ordering anything else than them. Seating is available inside or outside, great friendly service from waiting staff and always amazing food. Decor inside could do with a little brightening up but it works and fits in with the history of the building.

This is a nice pub, as the name suggests, situated on the edge of a golf course. The welcome was warm and friendly and the service very good. There was a good selection of local real ales and I liked the Stewarts 80/-. My wife was also impressed with the Gin selection and enjoyed the Mc Queens. We did not eat but the food looked very appetising and well priced. There were also real fires and a nice outside drinking area for summer.

Beautiful pub with a great fresh food. This time we visited with the family, everyone absolutely loved it. Very enjoyable to sit in the terrace outside on a sunny day, our ridgeback was made very welcome too. Nice attentive staff has added to the beautiful experience. Well done and thank you ❤️

Have been to the OC many times over the past number of years and it never disappoints! The food is super fresh and authentic and the selection of ales is excellent. Top that off with friendly service, a great patio, and proximity to the wee course out back…it’s a must visit while in Gullane!

We felt incredibly lucky to be seated in the little private nook just off the main bar area as this was just perfect for us to relax without our little dog being in anyone’s way. The menu has some interesting options, but on this occasion we both opted for burgers; one chicken and haggis, one beef with additional haggis. Both were absolutely delicious! We also shared a peppercorn sauce, which just made the outstanding chips taste even better. Service was relaxed but friendly. We would 100% visit here again next time we’re in the area.

Had an early meal with friends recently. We were seated at a 'cosy' table in a window recess which added to the warm and friendly feeling the place generated. The staff were pleasant and efficient and the food filling and tasty. My fish and chips was more than I could handle so I'd be inclined to opt for the smaller portion next time. The burger and chips was quickly demolished with suitable praise by a fellow diner and I think I'll be trying it on my next visit!

Delicious food and friendly staff. Large lounge with interesting collection of items decorating the room. Well worth a visit. Sunday roast was delicious, plentiful and served nice and hot with lovely vegetables and pot of gravy. Pork just melted in the mouth. Good value.

Lovely cosy golf themed traditional pub overlooking Gullane Links. Very dog friendly. Hearty, slightly different menu eg hubby had Hawaiian boar curry.

A very long wait for bad food. Quite rude staff member when I told them my starter was cold. Wouldn’t recommend. I’ve worked I hospitality for a long time and I am usually pretty understanding of human error and mix ups - however being rude to a customer is never acceptable. I think they forgot our order as we were waiting for 30 minutes with only two or three other tables in. When we asked much longer our food would be the waitress got very defensive even though we were very polite. Hardly touched our mains. Over twenty pounds for a steak that was honestly uneatable. Wouldn’t feed it too my cat it was that tough. To be fair they only charged us for our starter, drinks and maybe a quarter of our mains. But even that was after feeling very uncomfortable complaining due to the attitude of who I believe to be the manager. Other waiting staff were lovely.

Visited here February 2019 after waking from north Berwick to Gullane along the beach...... decided to do it again after such a memorable last visit! So did the same beautiful walk yesterday (aug 20) knowing we had the clubhouse as our target. It did not disappoint! Menu was limited but a really nice choice, between us we had Cullen Skink, Haggis Pakora, Tuna on the specials menu and I had the Vegi Seoul bowl ..... delicious food.... and wine.... just what we needed, we’ll be back!

We enjoyed a very good meal which was sadly spoilt by the concern that only one member of staff had a mask on. When a group of four were put next to us with no social distancing we had to leave early.Why can they not follow the guidelines!

We had outdoor drinks the first two nights lovey pleasant service and drinks. No staff Waring masks though. We had dinner last night. Lovely meals fish and chips really good and an excellent lamb mixed grill. Bottle Chianti very good but pricey at 25.Lovely Guinness and friendly service again. My partner and I decided to try out the pub after a walk by the beach. We chose to sit outside and the table and chairs were sanitised which was great. The service was good and our orders were taken without delay. I tried haggis for the first time and I was not disappointed. So delicious with the accompanying mashes. My partner chose the fish and chips and he was equally happy with his food. Glad we found this place. Would absolutely recommend.

I organised an outside lunch for myself and two colleagues. Everything was perfect. The food was excellent as usual and the staff both welcoming and attentive. Whilst we didn't eat inside, I saw the set up there which reflected all the government/hospitality regulations including decent spacing between tables. Would always recommend.

None of us are enjoying current situation and that clearly included our server. Appalling service from a clearly fed up lady. We ordered food more as a gesture of support Than wanting or needing it, but don’t know why we bothered as clearly not appreciated. Little evidence of care about ensuring safety of customers - no attempt to take contact details or make sure other customers didn’t breach safety rules. Old club house needs to watch out as entirely positive experiences at other local businesses I won’t be rushing back

Great to return to one of our favourite pub/restaurants ‘on the road’. Spent afternoon in nearby North Berwick and decided there was only one place for us to eat en-route home. It was our first time out following ‘lock down’ and we were impressed with the ease at which the staff operated with the new protocols. We weren’t sure about the restaurant experience with such protocols in place but we needn’t have been concerned . Food, as always, was excellent and beer wasn’t bad either. Good to be back and good to see it very busy.

We had a lovely lunch in the Old Clubhouse. The food was very tasty. We had the Cullen skink a small portion which was very good value and bread. The breaded chicken and seoul bowl were both equally tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. The bar and restaurant were well laid out, the signs for hand sanitiser and the spacious lay out made us feel safe on only our 2nd lunch out since March. We liked it so much we have booked for Friday evening. We also appreciated how the staff managed in these strange times and kept smiling.

We have visited 3 times and the service has gone down hill every time. The staff were stand off with us and initally removed our glasses without taking new orders or asking what we wanted for food. When they placed our mains down, very late aswell, she asked if we wanted anything and before we had time to to answer, she turned away and left the table so we could not even ask for the napkins and cutlery required for our main meal. After 5 minutes we were able to get these. The food itself is good quality but the service has turned us off. We also over heard staff being rude to another pair of gentlemen when they politely asked for some crisps and the waitress made it sounds as if this was the most rude request they could possibly make. After this we were over charged on our bill and made to feel as though it was our fault with no apology from staff for their mistake. There is no excuse for impolite and rude behaviour towards customers.

Very well organised set up outside and so good to see the familiar team back to look after us. The nachos, as ever, are wonderful and will definitely try the rest of the menu. It’s great to have the best pub in Gullane open again...as open as can be!
