The best restaurants in Edinburgh and Lothian

Lovely family-run business with a warm friendly welcome. We sat in with our daughter and the fish was made fresh for us which was delicious. Everything was really tasty and the service was so lovely staff are really chatty and helpful! Highly recommend!!

We are locals and love coming here to this great, cosy, friendly restaurant. Our evening begins in their downstairs wine bar before heading up the restaurant, and back down for a nightcap. The menu seems to change daily. Last night my partner praised the beef Bourgogne. The pheasant & partridge main was great. I’d recommend the Puilly Fume wine and the French dessert wine to accompany the cheese. This is an amazing, family run establishment and so friendly.

The most incredible pancakes I have ever had! The staff were amazing and Abi the chef was exceptional! If you’re in Edinburgh it’s a must!

Perfect place to have a proper breakfast before going to Edinburg castle!! They have a huge variety and very fair prices. Also, as it is very close to the monument, I highly recommend start your morning there

Lovely local hant, well worth a visit

I think it's like a fast food chain, you can eat on the premises. It is pork and it is super crispy, very well cooked, they serve it crumbled in a bun with a sauce of your choice, I told the girl to choose her own. Very nice and friendly and speaks Spanish. Perfect for me. Thank you so much.

Wow, stop scrolling, and book here. The Three Birds is a must eat restaurant while you are in Scotland. Amazing food, with incredible provenance and fantastic, cheery Scottish hospitality.

I've been to several cat cafes and while everyone was nice here this was probably my least favourite. The only food on offer is cake and the day we went they only had two of the five cakes available. If the menu is going to be that limited it seems like you shouldn't be running out of food. There was a 10 minute presentation about the cats which I thought was unnecessary. Also, as the cats were pretty inactive while we were there, it was a little frustrating to listen to how fun they might be if we had visited at some other time. The posters about the cats are sufficient. I appreciate the care that they take for the cats well-being, but the whole environment felt a bit over-supervised in a somewhat negative way. We had an okay visit, but I don't think I would visit again.

Ate a very pleasant meal during festival time. That has to be a bonus. I was back in December and enjoyed a great meal with friends.

Delicious food fusing Spanish tapas with South African favourites and Scottish indulgence. Each dish is a decent size (2-3 per person will fill you up) and there are South African and Spanish wine and beers. Friendly servers in a cosy, warm space. Indaba is now our go-to place for taking guests out for dinner.

Amazing tapas served at this small bar/restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly. It had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I would highly recommend eating here.

We ordered dinner when we left home. We had an hour to get to the restaurant... when we arrived, the takeout was still not ready... that's why I order in advance so that I can receive the order when I arrive. Especially since the lady on the phone informed me that 25 minutes would be enough for preparation. Additionally, the fact that when ordering by phone I have to provide card details to pay this way is very weak... I don't recommend it.

What a gorgeous little place. I would have had no idea this place existed without Google Maps, it's hard to spot! I've walked past it many times. I loved the style, decor, photos on the wall, and friendly staff. My cocktail was also very good!
