We have been here many times and have always enjoyed the food and service. We had 2 plates of soup and bread which we enjoyed. The bill was £1.40 more expensive than the cost of the soup.We were told this was for the water.I said you charge for CV old tap water and was told the water is free it's the serving of the water they are charging for. This charge is ridiculous and nowhere else I have been charge for tap water.I may have missed the mention of a service charge on the menu however surely the customer should decide whether to tip or not for good service. I see there has been a previous review for charging for hot water which I understand but disappointed in this establishment for our charge. Not keen to return now.

Timorous beastie in Stirling station platform 8. Ordered iced caramel latte. Wasn't told if there were different sizes, so assuming one size. Standard chat whilst waiting. Coffee was nice enough but very very pricey for what it was and the size. See pic. £4.40

The food was perfect! The server’s were inattentive. We were denied the reservation time we asked for but was offered 15 minutes before and after. We chose the earlier and noted that the dining room was never more than half full. With our plates empty for over 20 minutes with servers checking on and chatting with the guests around us, we finally went to the cashier to pay our bill. There was a server at the register who left as soon as I got there. The other server finally allowed us to pay our bill but was very short with us. I cannot recommend.

Two nights staying in the hotel this restaurant is attached to, so two nights eating here! Firstly on the way we tried to phone to ensure we got a table, the phone rang and rang but was unanswered, tried for over an hour. Mentioned it when got here “we were too busy”. First nights meal was ok but noted the menu was “tricky” bit precocious if anything and I actually said to person with me that I hoped it would be different menu next night. No it wasn’t so then I opted for the trusty steak with £11.95 surcharge!! If there is going to be a surcharge of that magnitude the dish needs to be good, it wasn’t in fact it was atrocious, tough, badly cooked and presented pathetically. The wait for some mustard just added to the frustration. Unfortunately I like staying at this hotel so no doubt will have to eat here again…..although I’d rather not, Hilton it’s time for a change please

The restaurant is one we have visited reasonably often as it is local, friendly and has a lovely view. The menu has enough choice and is tasty enough. However on our last visit we were given an arrival time of 7.45 pm but when we sat down we were almost immediately asked for our orders with no time to read the menu or the wine list. We really didn't linger over studying the menu but she obviously wanted to get the order into the kitchen as fast as she could - 3 times she pressed us and it did feel very hurried. Study the wine list? No time .... opt for the house white because there wasn't time to look for anything else. I do understand that kitchens need to finish up but then perhaps make the last booking a little earlier to accommodate this?

This is a wonderful hotel, in a perfect location overlooking the Cathedral and minutes from River walks into the charming town/village. Service, especially from Moira, is very professional and efficient with a nice measure of friendliness thrown in too. Dinner menu is extensive with plenty of choices for all tastes , and food quality is of highest standard. Highly recommended!
