The best restaurants in Strathtay Perth & Kinross Central Scotland

I have been going to this pub for 47 years on and off. On Sunday I went for lunch with my son and after we shared our starters, pigeon breast and Scotch egg, I was disappointed with the pigeon as it was very tough and came cut in cubes?? The pork parcel thing wasn't much better with what can only be described as baby sick over pastry and dry pork. I complained that day, we ate what we could palate and I paid the £86, they didn't charge for the one sweet, whoopee. So late that night my son calls me and says he's ill, I was also stuck to the toilet house spewing. After a visit to a doctor I was given meds for food poisoning. I called the Meiklour Arms 4 times and left emails but after 4 days I received no reply. So I drove the 20mls to see someone face to face. All I was met with was the rudest woman ive ever encountered who said there was nothing wrong with the food and its funny how nobody else fell ill? What? Did we all share the same pigeon? Yet she was adamant there was nothing wrong with the food cause they checked it! Hahaha so you ate some of it too to just check it? No, I'm sorry this is not how you treat customers who have been going to your place spending lots of money and never had a complaint before..ignorant, stuck up snobbish BS! Avoid this place, Fawley towers at its best.

We had a lovely experience at Erigmore for a celebration lunch served in the library. Denise the chef personised the menu and produced the most delicious melt in your mouth roast beef and all the trimmings plus much more. Thank you to Denise and her team. We will be back Susan Ogg

Fantastic place with wonderful service. I went there on a cold November day and ordered the most delicious caramel apple crumble to take away and they threw in some custard in a separate container. Lovely staff and a lovely shop.

Ordered a tea and a flat white which and was charged to use the disgusting port a loos totalled £6 ... coffee was espresso size!! Lids were dusty and dirty. How can this be justified!!

We had our wedding dinner there in November with some of our friends and family. We have stayed multiple times before so we rented all the rooms and had the private dining hall to ourselves. The staff and chefs at the Taybank are absolutely exceptional. They are all so attentive but also very relaxed and low key which is 100% the vibe we wanted. Leading up to the day they were so flexible and easy going and made the whole thing weekend feel special without being over bearing or adding any “wedding tax”. The food is also some of the best in Scotland and the reason we keep coming back. I couldn’t speak more highly of this place and I’m so glad we got to make special life long memories at the Taybank. You’ll be seeing us soon and often.

Ordered vegan food and found what seemed like animal part in it. They insisted it was part of a mushroom which it clearly wasn’t. This made my wife feel sick and therefore couldn’t accept the offer of another meal. Offers of drinks etc weren’t acceptable as this had ruined our evening. I had to argue for any reduction in the bill and was threatened with the police if I didn’t pay. Appalling customer service.

Poor service. No receptionist available for the trip. My bathroom plumbing was awful. NO fan, toilet not flushing properly and not at all after a shower, also no cold wate for a lon gtime after a shower. My dog needed a drink and no cold water was available. The romm was located on the 3rd loor which with a dog is not good. Will not be back. Also no kettle in room for making tea, had to go down 3 floors to request this.

Excellent prices!! and good choice of family food. Mushroom soup delicious. Haddock lovely all way through. Efficient service and lovely surroundings. Will be back again when back down. Thank you.

Ordered fish and chips and a single batter sausage. Had to wait for about 10 minutes so thought it would be fresh. How wrong were we. Fish was yellow in middle and chewy. Probably reheated. Batter on both fish and sausage was overcooked and brick hard. Chips were overcooked. I wouldn't bother if you want something to eat. Our went in the bin. Inedible. If we hadn't been on route to a meeting, we would have taken it back.

I would give two stars for the food and one star for table etiquette. We were unimpressed when we sat down to a table setting of basic low-quality, stamped-out flatware with sharp edges. Three of us ordered meat (duck, pork and beef), the other fish. No alternative, appropriate knives were brought to suit the food, nor was the cutlery replaced after the starter. There were splotches of dried food debris on the underside of all the placemats, which apparently never gets wiped off when they are stacked. The food itself was okay, but portions were on the small side and overpriced for what it was, e.g. two slices of duck breast, 1" slice of sea bass, very little vegetable to accompany. The chicken liver parfait starter was good but came with only three small slices of toasted baguette and bread was £6 extra. There was an abundance of wait staff operating on high-speed settings. We had trouble understanding what kept so many staff on the run (literally) given the restaurant was not full and could have been disruptive were it a romantic dinner for two. We just watched the show. Overall, a four-star restaurant should pay more attention to detail, quality and cleanliness, if it wants to have a four-star reputation.

We dropped in here for a drink and decided to have lunch. They had a mainly Italian food menu which was fine.
