The fish chips and peas are spot on, proper crispy and tasty, 10/10. Would recommended to anyone passing. Ketchup is 10p for a small packet, but considering how nice the food is it’s not an issue

Came here for a chippy while camping in the area. Great sausage supper and a massive portion. Would return if ever in the area👍

Wandered into this wee "plaice" expecting the standard chippy. Was greeted by the team and watched them beautifully pay care and attention to an older lady who was in line before me. Got my order slightly wrong due to no fault of thier own and it was quickly sorted (with extra fish). I honestly love this kind of small community styled chippy where there is clear care and love for what they do. I'd undeniably recommend here as the food was excellent and quick, and the service fantastic.

Went here for a Chippy when we were staying at Moness. We ordered a sausage supper and a Single Fish - both were spot on. A side portion of curry sauce as a wee treat added that little bit of spice to the order. Would recommend anyone tries this Chippy, no faults from us!

If I could give it zero I would. Food was rotten. Ordered a Munchie Box as a few of us so thought we’d share. Cold, over cooked - in fact looked as though it all had been reheated numerous times. Doner meat dry as sticks. Very disappointing. Will certainly be our first & last visit.

Pizza chips curry sauce terrible! The curry sauce was lumpy hadn’t been mixed properly. The pizza was full of cheese and hardly any toppings. Quite pricey for a pizza . Will not be returning. My first and last time here. Feel robbed. Only positive the polite delivery driver.

We made a large order for a family of 7, we paid £50s which I felt was good value, we ordered a meal each plus 2 side orders. This was the only take away open in Aberfeldy at the time. I phoned our order and was advised it would be delivered within 10 mins which I was surprised at. I then got a call back to advise there was no spicy wings so my son picked a different meal. So an hour later the food arrived and we were very disappointed. The portion of onion rings were very burnt, the deep fried pizza was also very burnt too - both brick hard and couldn’t be eaten. I ordered fish, chips and mushy peas. The chips were delicious but the fish was burnt to a crisp and I then found a hair in the mushy peas so unfortunately couldn’t eat it after that. We ordered a portion of chicken pakora and this was like rubber, it had been reheated however the chilli sauce and salad with it was delicious. One of my son’s orders was missed out completely - the one we had a callback about. None of the order had salt and sauce on the suppers as requested. I called to inform them of the situation and spoke with the lady who initially took our order however this time she was she very rude. in the end she did say they would send us replacements meals for rye unsatisfactory ones and they did carry this through so at least they rectified the situation. All in all - we won’t be back. Such a shame as it could be a real gold mine being the only takeout open most nights in Aberfeldy.

Great wee chippy We got 2 fish supposed for £15 which is a lot cheaper and was excellent And the same size as all the deare places I would highly recommend

If you’re looking for cold chips this is the place to go look no further, we had a great day out and Aberfeldy and thought we would finish it off with a bag of chips to our disappointment we received a box of ice chips that had probably sat longer than some white label 14 year old dewars whiskey I mean it’s not too much to ask for your chips to be hot and not as soggy as a wet dog this establishment should be shut down for impersonating a real fish n chip shop so if you’re in Aberfeldy please drive by and keep your windows up and hard earned cash in your wallet.

Went here as wanted something quick having just arrived into Aberfeldy. Chips were awful, flat, cold and ended up forcing half down. The burger was very over cooked which was odd as they appear to cook the sausage burgers etc fresh as you wait a while. If there was any form of competition I imagine this place would close pretty quickly.

Really nice food from this 'plaice' lol. I had a large fish and garlic mushrooms, my friend and carer had a king rib supper with onion rings. Both of us were very happy with our tea and if we return to the area we will certainly return here for tea at least once.

Went twice in three days. Great quality fish & chips. A very small chippy so you may have to order and wait outside for your order to be called. Freshly cooked to order. Pleasant staff. Would recommend

We visited whilst on holiday in Scotland. The shop was very busy - apparently it normally is. You go in and order then pay and wait outside whilst your order is prepared. They then shout of you to collect your order when ready. We got the ‘12 inch Munchy Box’ and it it was lovely. This is not something we would usually choose but it sounded nice and different to the usual chip shop menu. The food portion was huge and it was cooked fresh as your waited. Plenty of chips and salad too. The staff were very smiley and friendly. We would I return if we are back in the area.

Really good food. We had pizza’s and chips which were really good and fluffy. The bases had a nice ale flavour. The fried food looked really good. 30 mins wait for pizzas freshly cooked in the middle of summer wasn’t a bad wait time.

Fair enough; fortunately it was a pleasant evening.So I did and got shouted at to wait outside as only one person in shop at a time . . .but nothing on the sign to say that.Another handwritten sign to “recommend” use of face covering.Only staff member in shop wearing a mask properly was the young lad taking orders. Others either didn’t have one or wore it under the nose. No screens.I really should have walked away at that point.However, I asked to pay contactless . . . told CASH ONLY. Wouldn’t be surprised if a viral outbreak was traced back to this place.Got the food. Didn’t take long so must have been pre-made.In fairness the chips were fine but the fish was rubbish. Stayed in aberfeldy for two nights amazing little place ... fast food RUBBISH! Got a fish supper and jumbo sausage supper and it was hands down the worst chippy I’ve ever had ! Fish supper freezing (sausage ) total mush chips cold and greasy VERY DISAPPOINTING

Based on recent good reviews we were looking forward to some good fish and chips but were very disappointed. Fish was dry, batter was chewy and unpleasant, chips just weren't nice. Sausage in batter was mushy with tough batter, doner kebab was dry. Staff had masks around their chins. Generally not great which was a shame as we were looking forward to it. Maybe we went on a bad night but we won't be going back.

There's nothing better than freshly cooked fish and chips - that's what you get at the "Plaice in the Square". Generous portions of tasty battered fish which would satisfy most people's needs.

Wonderful selection of freshly prepared food- all the traditional chipshop fare plus pizza, calzone etc. Great service, wonderful food- the best chips I have had in many a long year or day- very reasonable prices. A really good plaice!

We ordered 1 fish supper and 1 sausage supper after walking the Birks of Aberfeldy, and feeling hungry. The chip shop was near to the lower birks area, which also has seating outside, so we decided to get some fish and chips to share.We placed our order quickly and everything was cooked fresh to order, nothing had sat for ages, which was great. We took our wrapped dinners to the seating area, and shared our food. The portions are huge, and we got 2 big fish fillets and chips, and 3 battered sausages and chips for less than £10. The chips were nice and hot and the batter was crispy. I would certainly go back again.

Had occasion to be in Aberfeldy for an evening meeting and didn’t have time to eat first so decided to head to the area and look for a chip shop. Well all I can say is The Plaice in the Square did not disappoint. Due to the local roadworks it was not easy to park but glad we stopped further up the street and walked back. Very bright and colourful exterior, nothing fancy inside and pretty small and compact. Staff pleasant, friendly and helpful. However the quality of the food was exceptional! The fish was light and fluffy and very flavourful, the white pudding was non greasy and not over cooked and the chips were as near to homemade as we have ever had from a chip shop!!! All in all it was one of the best chippy teas ever! Not exactly on our doorstep but I’m sure we can find an excuse to visit again soon. Well done to all the staff your outlet is a wee hidden gem.

Abbie my daughter and I visited this chip shop earlier today , Keefe the young lad behind the counter was very helpful as were the owner and his staff The food we received was a sausage supper ( chips ) and the portion size was huge , all in all it was great value for money and we will be back

We were starving on Friday night and fancied something to eat but didn't want to pay an arm and a leg. Found this place or "plaice" (ha). Lovely staff, a fab meal at a very reasonable price!! Very tasty fish and chips. Would definitely return if in the area!!! Keep up good work guys!!

If your looking for fish & chips in this area, then you’ve found the best place. The fish was freshly cooked when ordered. The batter was crispy. Also the prices were amazing.

Chips are average. The veg kebab was what appeared to be roasted veg dripping in oil in a flat bread, not a kebab. Very disappointing & very unhealthy. I know take-away isn’t meant to be a healthy option but when the food literally drips oil that’s just a bit too much & unnecessary. When we first went here a few years back the fish & chips were literally the best we’d ever had but every year since the food has deteriorated & after today we’ve decided to end what had become a tradition for our annual trip to Scotland

This tiny wee Fish and Chip shop has great service considering the size of it. We visited early Friday evening and it had a regular stream of customers. The staff were friendly and well organised and we didn’t wait too long for our meals.The fish and chips portions were generous and as I’d never had a fish finger supper before was amazed at the size of the six fish fingers. This supper would probably feed two children!An enjoyable meal, would return!

An extensive menu to choose from and really quite tasty. I had scampi and chips and mushy peas which was well cooked and my partner a pizza supper - again pretty good. My only suggestion for improvement is that the chips were very small and so went crispy, but I get the impression it may have been bottom of the bag as overall it was really good and the few big chips I got were some of the best I’ve had. The staff were friendly and it was fairly priced. I’d come again.

Went here during recent stay in Aberfeldy. Everything cooked to order. Batter on fish was so crispy and delicious, and good was not greasy at all, one of the best fish suppers I've had. Also got haggis which was delicious. Big menu, they also do kebabs, pakoras etc. Will definitely be back.

I had a delightful white pudding and chips and my husband a fush supper. The place was very busy and the food freshly cookrd. Would recomnend

I had a 10" Munchie Box, my wife had a pizza. The pizza was very good, I was lucky enough to be treated to a couple of slices. The Munchie box was a bit bland. You get a lot for your money, plenty donner meat, lovely fresh crisp salad, onion bahji/veg. pakora hit the spot. the only slight let-down was that the chicken pakoras were a bit bland and oily.

Had fabulous freshly cooked chip and the best chicken pakoras. The dipping sauce was lovely. Sat in the square eating the lovely food. Could not have been better

Called in here for food for the family, place looks ok from the outside... once in the door you can see it’s actually pretty mingin... greasy ceiling, dirty, manky fridge, staff looked pretty grubby, dirty t-shirts etc etc hygiene is not a priority here!

We ordered breaded haddock which was good, shrimps which were just a lot of batter with microscopic something inside (and $$$) and oignon rings which were soggy and greasy.

Drove 25 minutes as my daughter recommended this from a visit two years ago. My partner enjoyed his average pepperoni pizza and my daughter said her donner kebab wasn't as good as the last time. My chicken kebab was like nothing I've ever seen before, dried up chicken covered in a spicy spicy sauce with a few soggy chips served over salad which was warm and soggy, pitta bread was separate which maybe the salad should have been too and I could at least have had that with the bread. Closed the lid and put it where it belonged, in the bin. Settled for a bit of pizza, which wasn't really that great. So disappointed!

My cousin and I both had fish suppers. The portion of fish was huge and fresh, the price was right and we had a nice chat with the staff while we waited.

Have eaten here on two occasions. My husband over his pizza but mine was average. Our burgers average and chips dried and some inedible. Reasonable prices. Not sure I'd go again, couple of other places to go nearby

Not the best fish and chips ever - chips were very very pale and fish just wasn't that fresh tasting or tasty but we had just finished doing a round of 4 Munros so were absolutely starving.Anything would have done! Big portions and quite cheap but quality could be a lot better.

2x sausage suppers, 1 haddock supper. All cooked fresh and very tasty. Was sceptical after reading negative reviews, but based on my experience, they were unwarranted. Happily use again if I'm in the area.

My husband came home with chips this evening. They were cold and inedible, barely an actual chip, more like the scrapings from the bottom of the fryer. Never again!

Ordered a kebab, chips, garlic bread and a single white pudding. After waiting 25 minutes thinking everything was made fresh when we ate it everything was stone cold and the so called kebab had no pitta bread and was just a box of donor meat. Would recommend eating in a cafe or restaurant in Aberfeldy as this place is terrible.

Picked up a menu early in the day and phoned through an order at around 17:00. the order was for 12 people (8 adults and 4 kids). The order was taken swiftly for a variety of meals and picked up some 30 minutes later.

My daughter and I were told this was a good chippy. We went 10-15 mins after they opened for dinner on Sunday so felt sure we would be getting nice fresh food. The chips were so bad that the only reasonable explanation is that they were lunchtime chips reheated! We love Aberfeldy but won’t be eating here again.

Went the THE PLAICE IN THE Square because of hotel had their leaflet amongst our welcome pack.

We popped in for a chicken kebab for my wife and a haggis supper for me whilst staying at Moness resort. Chicken kebab is the only one we've ever seen that had salad on the bottom of the tray packed out with a layer of the worst [cold] chips we've ever come across topped with four small pieces of chicken and a very strange 'garlic mayo' sauce. I had a haggis supper and I've never had chips like it before. Leathery, wrinkled and truly inedilbe. I managed to choke down some of the haggis but the majority of both meals were binned. Only reason we went was the advertising leaflet in our room at Moness but would never go back nor recommend it.

We stopped here for two fish suppers, it was busy and we had a short wait, staff were lovely, we took our suppers back to our BB, fish was fresh and lovely with a crispy batter, and chips were fab

We was in aberfeldy and thought we would try out the chippy, have to say it was very nice I had the haddock supper and the misses had the battered burger, after reading the reviews we still gave it ago so glad we did.

Order was for two fish suppers and two pizzas, the fish and chips had obviously been left from lunchtime, dried up and fish like rubber. One pizza ok, ordered a chicken and sweetcorn pizza, returned to holiday cottage only to find there was no chicken and about 10 kernels of sweetcorn. Too far away to return and complain, never again as we come to this area three times a year always been good up to this point

We ate a meal as a family from here as one the last meal before heading home from a short holiday.All I can say is I have no idea why this is last.All the meals we had in Aberfeldy were excellent,however I'm sure this is better than some other restaurants!We went in on a busy Monday night and it is a small takeaway and was packed at the time.They were under a lot of pressure so understandably,the order took a while.I had simple burger meal which was as good as my local chippy which I also rate highly.It was really good,everything you would expect from a good quality chippy.Other meals ordered included chicken breast,also very good quality.The kids meals were well sized and we were all satisfied with our meals!The only negative thing is the appearance of the takeaway itself.It looks quite old inside and the staff don't look too happy especially with customer interaction which is what I imagine turns many away from this little surprise!Don't let this put you off.I would definitely recommend popping in if you are in the local area or if you need a quick meal that is good quality.

Huge mound of oily chips with an overbattered, overcooked piece of fish. The mushy peas were from a tin and coleslaw was very runny. Not the best. Staff not particularly friendly and we got less change than we should have. Wouldn't go back. Wouldn't recommend.

When myself and family were on holiday at Aberfeldy, we thought we'd try the local 'chippie'. It would be rude not to....anyway I'm so glad we did. I thought that it was the best fish id tried in a long time. The batter was so light and crispy. The rest of my family enjoyed it too. So if your fed up with going out for meals , just pop into this good little place and support the local area. There was no leftovers from this ' plaice '.

Whilst staying in Aberfeldy for a week with my boyfriend's parents, we decided it was in our best interest to find a takeout shop for when it was too late to cook and when we were too lazy to make food!Luckily for us, Aberfeldy has a wonderful takeout and only a two minute walk from where we were staying. Plaice in the Square has a large menu with a huge variety of food; from burgers to pizzas to fish and chips. On the first night, after a long trip up from Edinburgh, we grabbed dinner here. While I had scampi and chips, my boyfriend and his parents had cod and chips. We were all pleased with the quality of the food and the pleasant staff that worked there; a lot were youngsters from the town which was nice to see.The second time we had it, I had a pepperoni pizza while my boyfriend had a good old chicken kebab. Both times were delicious and of a high standard for a small town takeout shop. It always seemed busy, looked clean and was rated high among the people who lived there. So if you're staying in Aberfeldy or just passing through and fancy a cheeky kebab or burger, be sure to stop by the Plaice in the Square; food's great, staff are funny and the prices are excellent! Well worth it!

we went to the Plaice in The Square to buy lunch. There was a great selection & it was extremely reasonable, I had a burger & my husband had a jacket potato. It was very popular with locals as well as school children. Great place for cheap takeaway

Another wonderful chippy I had the fish in batter,my wife had the fish in breadcrumbs,both were cooked to perfection and the portions are excellent I have been coming to this fine establishment for years and always look forward to my next visit.

Visited Feb 16, the food was very poor, chips and fish over done as if fried twice or in old oil. Chicken breast dry as a bone and not edible. This is the first time I have written a poor review on trip advisor but this was very disappointing.

This was one of those great finds that make traveling fun and easy. This is a take out restaurant only. When I tell you that you can walk in and order just about anything I mean it. You get huge portions at a cheap price that if you're like us you take back to your resort to enjoy in peace. We have had the lamb, fried chicken, hamburgers, fish and chips and they they were all very good. Aberfeldy has come a long way in the last eight years and the restaurant fits a niche and works really well for those staying at a resort but don't feel like cooking. I highly suggest you stop by and look at the menu and if you want to eat in your room then this place fixes everything very well and should be tried.

Stayed at aberfeldy for a long weekend, we decided to get a takeway only one in aberfeldy but can't reccommend this enough we called in twice had the fish supper excellent portions very tasty and staff very pleasant, the prices were reasonable, they sold allsorts from Fish and chips to pizza and kebabs, they are open 7 days a week if i'm in the area again i would definately be calling in again

Battered fish supper is £5.50 - very large portions but disappointing. Small amount of fish surrounded by very thick batter and accompanied by average chips. Not bad value but nothing special.

Saw the queue and thought this must be popular and it seemed a good sign of things to come - we waited in the queue and were told there was a waiting time (we ordered fish and chips and pizza and chips) so after a very nice pint in the pub round the corner we collected our supper. We sat in the sunny Square and thoroughly enjoyed every last bite!Friendly staff, food was ready when they said it would be and was hot. Perfect take away.

This is a tiny fish and chip shop in the main square in Aberfledy. It seems to always be packed with customers spilling onto the street. Comsidering its size it has a huge menu. All I can say is that for what it claims to be it provided us, on more than one occasion, with perfectly acceptable fish and chips

Fish resembled brown objects, cod very overcooked! Wouldn't eat here again .... Portions enormous but just cremated!

Very Greasy, and the burger wasn't the best I've ever had. But it was still good. Great place if you need some quick food and don't care about having grease all over it.

This has got to be the best place for a wonderful fish supper and a great price the amount of what you get is great value for money.
