A great pub. We just had beers which can be taken outside in a plastic glass. Small seating area with views over the harbour and surrounding hills. We couldn't have asked for more. Delightful

Very pleasant 2 day stay in this hotel. Nice clean rooms. Excellent breakfast and evening meal. Staff were super friendly and very helpful, especially with knowledge of the island, and we send our Thanks to them all.

Restaurant, staff, food and owner all fantastic. Felt extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Peter, the owner, was perfect host and looked after us despite being full that evening. He even showed a couple of our group his extensive whisky collection which was above and beyond! Public bar is another story. We moved through after dinner and a couple of the patrons decided to make really off remarks about one of our group who's in his 80's. The comments were made deliberately in earshot and were derogatory, spiteful and totally unacceptable. Got the feeling they were designed to be incendiary and to provoke us. Really not pleasant. To be fair to management they weren't aware and obviously didn't condone but not an experience I'd wish to repeat. One of the guys involved liked everyone to know he works at one of the better known distilleries on the island - I'm sure he's a real poster boy for his employers!

Went here for lunch based on a recommendation. So glad we did. Had scallops and scampi tails and they were the best we've ever tasted. Wet and windy day and lovely to sit and have a leisurely lunch in a cosy restuarant.

Great wee local.pub. Friendly staff and regulars. Reasonably priced beers. Dog friendly. Pool table.

Got a takeaway for easy night in and we were delighted! Lovely freshly cooked scampi and pizza. Tasty and great value for money. Would highly recommend if in the Port Ellen area of Islay

We were in here at the best time ever, in the morning just as they were taking their sausage rolls and hot foods from the oven. Yumm!! A delicious warm sausage roll with lots of filling and great flaky pastry. It was very hard to exercise any self control and not come back for another, just because it was so tasty! The location is great with indoor and outdoor seating, elevated above road level with views over the water. Feedback on the vegetarian sausage roll from other customers was also good and there were lots of sandwiches there too that we didn’t try. It was a bit early in the morning for wine but they had an interesting selection. Friendly owners who have apparently recently taken over. Highly recommended

Popped in here on the last day of our 5 day trip to Port Charlotte, just for a cup of tea and a cake, as we were having a meal later.Was surprised to see such a full menu, if we had known sooner we would have dined here. Instead, one night we had driven to Bowmore for a meal, as our hote reataurnat was fully booked.so tea, coffee and cake it was, and theywas lovely. I ended up coming back later that day for a baked potato.The facilities were clean, and the staff friendly (We visited during Covid-19).There were outside tables with a sea view and a large car park, as it is serving a campsite.If I am ever in Islay again, I will be sure to come here for a meal.

This cafe is DEFINITELY OPEN ( today is March 8th 2025). The location is beautiful, the setting spotlessly clean and the food excellent. Highly recommend the full breakfast. Welcoming staff, good selection, particularly so early on in the season. We note the phone number is incorrect and have pointed this out to the NEW OWNERS. Wishing them great success with this new venture, we will be back.

Very poor munchie box. Dry chips with the occasional shred of onion. Two small chicken balls and some very dry wings. Very disappointed as I had a much nicer one on a previous visit a year ago.

Wir waren vor genau zwei Jahren hier und für uns war es damals das beste Restaurant der Insel! Wir haben uns seit der Buchung vor 6 Monaten auf den Besuch hier gefreut. Die Qualität ist heute leider eine andere und schon während der Vorspeise haben wir uns gefragt ob der Besitzer oder der Koch gewechselt haben oder Beide. Wenn ein verschwitzter Kellner hyperaktiv, wie ein gut gelaunter Tornado durch das Restaurant wirbelt, Empfehlungen heraushastet, während er schon wieder auf dem Weg zur Küche ist, mit Waschlappen und Desinfektion unter der verschwitzten Achsel Bestellungen aufnimmt und man völlig aufgekratzt das Lokal verlässt statt runter zu kommen, dann hat Das wenig mit dem „Duffies“ zu tun, in dem man vor zwei Jahren nicht nur ausgezeichnet speisen konnte, sondern sich schon auf den nächsten Abend freuen durfte. Essen war nicht auf dem Level von 2023! Bedienung Quereinsteiger ohne Gastroerfahrung! Nach dem Essen waren wir uns sicher, Koch und Besitzer haben gewechselt! Wir jetzt auch!

Scallops were absolutely delicious and the beef and ale pie was melt in the mouth. A great selections of wines and a lovely stop for dinner after a long day visiting distilleries. Staff were attentive, surprised just how busy it was for a Monday evening.

Stayed a few hours on a Dreich day before the foot passenger ferry. Clean, friendly and dog friendly. Popular with locals and tourists alike. Prices were lower than expected!

We just wanted a light lunch before the ferry journey. We ordered BBQ chicken wraps with salad. What we got was 2 very small curried chicken wraps with a garnish not a salad. Inedible for me as I don't eat curry, my partner ate both which was equivalent to a normal pub lunch wrap. At over £30.00 a total rip off. They have a monopoly as there is nowhere else to eat nearby.
