Lochside Inn Hotel Restaurant in Argyll & Bute

We arrived at 7:30 PM for our dinner reservation, and they were out of all seafood except scallops. Even though they were listed as specials, they had run out of oysters, lobsters, langostinos, EVERYTHING except scallops. So that was exactly what we ordered, scallops. They were so overcooked that it was like eating tough rubber bands. The service was poor and snarky. Whatever you do, DO NO DINE HERE!!

We had a wonderful family meal, good sized portions and very accommodating for my 15 month old son. Beautiful views from the restaurant.

We went as a group of seven friends for lunch , we hadn’t booked just a walk in . The staff were more than accommodating, placed us all around a big table took our drinks order , there was a good choice of food on the menu . When our food came it was well presented and was delicious not one plate went back with much if anything left ! Would certainly recommend if you are visiting Islay and when we return it will certainly have another visit from us ! And to top it all off the views across the loch and also dog friendly which seem to be hard on the island cause we had a dog with us and tried several other places the day after just for drinks and coffee snd ended up driving back there

Nous avons passé 6 nuits à Islay dans un petit cottage sympa à Bowmore et nous avons dîné 3 fois au Lochside restaurant. Une des meilleurs expériences culinaires de notre mois en Écosse. Des coquilles St jacques énormes et à profusion (9 pour même pas 30£) cuisinées exactement comme il faut et assaisonnées avec inventivité. J’en ai pris 2 fois et j’ai passé le reste de mon séjour à comparer celles que je mangeais avec celles d’Islay. Le homard quant à lui était savoureux ! Mon homme a dit que le fish and chips était succulent. En plus on a eu souvent une table près de la fenêtre avec vue sur la mer. Cadre sympa avec un pub disposant des rares bouteilles au monde qui doivent rester de Port Ellen ce qui explique le prix du verre. Ambiance décontractée et sympathique avec un service efficace par des serveurs à l’accent bien rocailleux d’Ecosse.

Lovely setting, bookes last minute. Ordered the hot smoked salmon and potato wedges. It was cold salmon which i dont mind but was a bit confused as it said hot smoked salmon? on a bes of lettuce and cold wedges with slices of beetroot, could be out a jar. No seasoning dressings, It was bland and plain, ate some of it and coulnt eat anymore, not filling and was still hungry had to order cheese board to fill up, said to waitress i wasnt happy with it, bland and unappetising, she said i will tell chef. well never heard another thing, charges full amount? I would not recommend this meal. My family enjoyed their meal but not for me. I am not a complainer and would not normally say anything but this was not a good standard of meal, i had no choice.

My husband booked this for his 40th birthday meal, as he had arranged a trip to Islay for a week of celebrations. I can't comment on his experience with the booking, however I contacted the Lochside to help with a suprise birthday cake for him. Thank you to Sophie, who help me organise this. It saved me trying to get a cake from Sheffield, to Islay without him knowing. The meal and service from Ricky was amazing. Our table was next to the large window overlooking the Loch. Our group of 10 arrived in two separate groups, however Ricky made both groups feel welcome and looked after. I believe the team had another big group in at the same time, however you won't have know as the team were so attentive and really looked after us without being intrusive. Following our meal we were going to sit in the bar, however this was very busy and had some live music. So we asked if we could stay at the table. I have been to other please were you are almost being pushed out of the door once you have paid. This was NOT the case at the Lochside. We were welcomed to continue having some drinks and chatting. While the atmosphere and service we both wonderful, the food was amazing. I had the mozzarella and pesto salad to start and it was the perfect ratio of ingredients and size for a starter. Across the table a few members has the Haggis, neeps and tatties and all said how amazing the whisky gravy was (High praise from a group from Yorkshire). For the Mains I along with a number across the table had the Vension. Again this was well portioned and the favours worked so well together. The Vension was cook just right with a hint of pink in the middle. Thank you to the team at the Lochside for a lovely meal that my husband, family and friends will remember.

Popped in to The Lochside a couple of times on a recent trip to Islay and the staff (and locals) were incredible. The bar staff were so friendly and chatty and I had a great evening. Going back the next day for coffee, they remembered it was my birthday and popped over with a free drink. It’s the little touches that make this place so special. Highly recommend.

Wir waren mit zwei Paaren zwei Nächte im Lochside Hotel. Die Rezeption war - anders als bei den anderen Hotels unserer Schottlandreise - nicht sehr einladend. Wir waren in dem Briarlea House in Zimmer 1 und Zimmer 3 untergebracht. Zimmer 3 war gut. Das Zimmer 1 war sehr klein (das Bad war groß) im Erdgeschoss, Fenster konnte man nicht gut öffnen, da es zum Bürgersteig ging. Das Zimmer 1 hatte keinen Schrank und keine Möglichkeit, Kleider aufzuhängen, was bei den regenreichen Tagen auf der Insel Islay ganz nützlich gewesen wäre. Das Frühstück war für uns Kaffeeliebhaber schlecht: Es gab Instantkaffee und auch bei den Zutaten (z.B. Joghurts) überraschende Lücken.

Amamamos o restaurante , não propriamente pela instalações , mas pelo atendimento cortes e principalmente pelos excelentes frutos do mar , como ostras , lagostins e vieras fenomenais . Existe a possibilidade de combinar tudo c uma das vastas opções de malt wisky da ilha e pagar de £5 até £340 por uma única dose. Ta preparado pra escolher ? Vinhos e outras opções também na carta , além de várias cervejas do barril . Recomendo

We recently ate dinner at this restaurant. They have a few tables where you can overlook the ocean which is nice. The service was good but the server was super busy so she couldn't be exceptional. The food was okay but nothing to write home about. We ordered the soup of the day, the Tobermory Hot Smoked Salmon, the Falafel burger and the Islay Ale Battered Haddock with chips. We wouldn't go back.

The Lochside Hotel is in a great spot, overlooking Loch Indaal. We booked for dinner about a week in advance and were given a window table with a nice view. The food was good - I chose two starters and a side of sweet potato fries, which was plenty for me. My husband's burger seemed a little over processed for a fresh burger, but everything was tasty enough. Reasonable wine list and service was friendly throughout.

We had a quick dinner of crab claws (catch of the day) and fried haddock. Service was almost too fast—as in the food was served about 1 minute after our pre-dinner cocktails arrived. Two people were serving the restaurant, so it’s a plus that they were able to serve the tables so quickly. We would have cozied up in the bar for our beverage first, the next go around. The haddock and fries were good. The crab was ok, not great only due to the fact that the crab “crackers” provided were flimsy and insufficient to do the job (you need heavier duty crackers for these claws, so despite my experienced best efforts, some was wasted). The view is nice, overlooking the ocean. We had better food elsewhere in Bowmore, but this was a nice third option for our last night there.

Great stay at the lochside. Staff are lovely. The rooms are nice with several looking over the water. Breakfast and dinner was spot on every day. Excellent WiFi coverage throughout.

Lovely restaurant, excellent views across Loch Indaal. Get a window seat if you can. Unsurprisingly the seafood is particularly good whether prawn and langoustine starter, scallops as catch of the day, or grilled sea bass. Desserts also really good. Good wines, excellent range of whiskies. Will return.

I'd really like to rate it more - it has a great view and great staff, but after a seafood chowder that was 50% potato and 15% celery, and then a rare steak done medium well, well what can you say ...

We had the good fortune of dining here during our 4day trip to Islay. The food was excellent. My husband enjoyed the burger and I liked my fish. Service was good, drinks were well poured.

The best hotel to visit in Islay. Food, drink and best of all the staff! Full hotel was very clean and the food was simply delicious. Will definitely be back. Thank you to the lovely staff at Lochside! Would definitely recommend!

On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed - it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful), the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup - massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff - it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! :) Oh, also, lovely clean loos!

Quality food and service. Super location ovelooking the loch. Fabulous accommodating staff who managed to fit 8 of us, even though they were full. Had a selection of dishes for each of us - food was served all together in a timely fashion. Very happy family of 8. Thankyou

We were there as a big family and had a wonderful meal. The food was outstanding and gluten free was no problem. The portions were generous and very tasty.

Nice setting down by the loch, even though it was raining. Attentive young staff. Plentiful, well-cooked scallops which were served with chips and a side-salad with half a boiled egg on it for some reason. The desserts (a strange pavlova and a Bunnahabhain cake) were very disappointing, though the former was taken off the bill. 10% service charge added to the bill when paying, but we were asked if we accepted it. We probably wouldn't come back.

Väldigt trevligt och bra mat. Åt scallops och havskräftor, alldeles perfekt tillagat och serverat. En helt lysande bar med all whisky man kan önska sig.

A wonderful dining experience at the end of a memorable holiday, overlooking a sun-setting loch. Lovely food, with sea food specials as well as a usual menu with s range of options. We were very happy with our choices and particularly appreciated the perfectly cooked crispy vegetables! The desserts were yummy too. Amazing choice of whiskeys to round off the meal and the holiday. The staff were excellent, hard working, attentive and friendly. We were not hurried to vacate our window table and watching the sun go down made this lovely dining experience, super-special. Highly recommend!

Haben beide Abende hier gegessen und waren sehr zufrieden. Die Portionen sind gross auch ohne Vorspeise. Achtung das Trinkgeld ist bereits Bestandteil der Rechnung. Der Service stimmt und die Whiskykarte ist der Wahnsinn.

Booked for a meal only as we hadn’t been there in a few years. We got a good table with a view of the loch but we’re disappointed to find there were no draft or bottled ales available only lagers. Our server was a loud guy from “South of Birmingham” who thought he had the gift of the gab and most likely doubled his pub job with selling used cars or double glazing. It was interesting to hear his version of life on Islay given we have been visiting for over 25 years ourselves. The meal choice is good but food is average and portions are nothing special, disappointing to be honest. Service is just too fast for food to be cooked fresh. Within 10 minutes of ordering our starters arrived and no sooner had the plates been removed the mains arrived. Over priced and distinctly average. From ordering to paying the bill was less than 45 minutes. This was a new spin on fast food!

Such a great place to eat and definitely to drink! Great bar service, very knowledgeable , great selection of whisky. Merangue was amazing

In Islay for the week.Eaten here twice, both excellent meals and reasonably priced.Starters: Brioche & Mushroom recommended, as well as retro Prawn Cocktail.Mains: Fish & Chips tasty and generous, as was the Chicken Schnitzel.Friendly, efficient service, and Covid safe unlike a couple of other restaurants in town.Highly recommend.

While on a whisky tasting tour of Islay we spent an evening having dinner at Lochside. We were fortunate to have a window table with a view of the bay and marina to accompany a very satisfying, unhurried and pleasant meal. Great attentive staff and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed this meal and the restaurant's ambience.

Hotel was comfortable and clean. We'll managed Covid compliance. Food was good and served hot by nice staff. Would vist again without hesitation. Beds comfy. Great views of the Loch and Bowmore harbour from the restaurant. Recommended Peatzaria just next to hotel for a change if staying more than a few

75% of our evening meals were eaten in this hotel, the food, service and views were all superb. Good selection of seafood and beers/gins makes a happy couple

After a busy day touring the south distilleries we were starving arriving back to Bowmore (Ardbeg cafe was closed so we hadn’t eaten).After a few failed attempts at walk ins, Lochside were able to offer us a table.From the outside it looks like a locals bar and we went in with trepidation.Inside was nowhere near how we expected. It was a stylish restaurant and there was a huge window overlooking the loch.Staff were helpful and pleasant.Good food options and we chose the fish and steak pie. Lovely homemade food.As the restaurant was going to be busy we moved into the bar after eating - now that was a locals bar!

Ate here while staying in Bowmore and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Great welcome from very friendly staff and pleasant setting with sea views. Daughter and I both chose fish and chips which were excellent, with the very fresh fish you would expect from an island hotel, before succumbing to sticky toffee pudding. Definitely can recommend.

As a restaurant the food is average but pricey. The menus did cater for Gluten Free but it was not very exciting. The chicken breast with sundries tomatoes was OK but nothing to shout about. The cider offering was poor and only had a cheap brand on draft. My wife’s meal was catch of the day that was excellent but none GF selections are more plentiful. Pleasant place to eat and busy with good atmosphere.

We enjoyed our meal sitting looking over Loch Indaal. We will go back sometime. Staff were working so hard to overcome Covid rules. Well done.

I had a wonderful time staying at lochside hotel fantastic staff and made welcome by all l would recommend if you are coming to Islay this is the place to stay for all your needs plenty too do as it's close to all amenities and the weather is fantastic

Exploring Bowmore and wanted a quick lunch and asked a couple of locals for recommendations and Lochside was mentioned. Doesn’t look much from the roadside and I wouldn’t have know. It was a restaurant had their not been a sign advertising coffee being served. Once inside the restaurant boasts stunning sea views from the conservatory and their tasteful decor is pleasing to the eye and comfortable. Menu choice was pretty extensive, I was advised of the soup of the day which wasn’t to my taste but as I wanted a quick single course lunch, I opted for the Pork and Apple burger with the Island topping option which was a generous slice of black pudding. After a short wait my well presented food arrived, piping hot and freshly made. The burger was delicious and the salad garnish was a nice addition., all in all very pleased with the food. All washed down with a nice chilled pint of Best Shandy and a decaf latte to close. Very pleasant experience, friendly staff and good food , would return and recommend. Had I had the chance to experience more from the menu , I’m sure it could have been excellent , but based on what I had it’s a sold “Very Good +”

Initially was unsure with the menu, but the catch of the day was scallops and they were superbly cooked and delicious! I’m sure that if the chef does those well, everything else would be excellent to.

We booked a room whilst sheltering in a bus stop - we'd been caught short in the rain during our cycling trip. Upon hearing this, the hotel staff gave us a room with a bath at no extra expense. I can't thank them enough as I was completed soaked through and freezing. The hospitality was fantastic, rooms clean and breakfast delicious. Incredible views from the restaurant. We had a brilliant and revitalising stay. Thank you so much.

Eaten here twice this week, both times the food was fantastic and the staff amazing. Sadly I wouldn’t recommend the bread & butter pudding it was awful. I felt like they had buttered and jammed two slices of bread together grilled it then covered it in like warm custard. Yuck. That being said the sticky toffee pudding looked nice and our mains were amazing.

Had a family lunch. Reasonable menu for a small hotel in a village. All the meals were enjoyed, especially the soup and puddings. Very friendly and efficient service. Tremendous views over the sea to the west of Islay. Seemed to take the coronavirus obligations seriously. Would have no hesitation in returning.

This is the best restaurant in Bowmore with good quality local produce used for the dishes. Service was very efficient by friendly staff. The salmon dishes were amazing as was the incredible lamb casserole. Great views from the restaurant across the sea loch. Would definitely return if in the area.

Just had a fantastic stay at the Lochside. Got the best view on Islay for sure! This is a great wee hotel with a really nice vibe. The staff were really friendly and the food was excellent. Thoroughly recommended!

These are difficult times due to covid , the menu was limited , the standard of the food offered was poor. I had a pint of lager which was undrinkable. The staff were friendly and welcoming but I will not be coming back.

Had dinner there twice - a burger 'n chips is about £13, as is the fish 'n chips. Whisky is good value, as is the beer. Good view of the loch.

Really tasty food and very cheerful service. We had a wonderful Dow seat and it was perfect. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. It was priced correctly too. We had the scallops and homemade terrine for our starters and each had the lamb stew for our main. Everything was excellent. We definitely recommend.

First off - the steak was great - perfectly cooked sirloin, very tasty.But... the service was shocking! The front-of-house greeting can be best described as frosty, and the requested red wine to have with said steak never appeared, despite the initial order and two follow-ups! Also switched out some accompaniments to be replaced with vegetables, but was simply charged extra, despite them being identically priced on the accompaniments menu!Perhaps these are post-lockdown teething troubles? As I say, the food was beautifully cooked, so some potential. And a smile on arrival can't be too difficult, surely?

Firstly they didn’t give us a seat by the window even though the whole place was empty throughout our meal. Then we ordered the scallop and black pudding starter. Asked to have it without the black pudding as I don’t like it, but with an extra scallop. The chef said that would cost me double(?!)Then I got the lamb casserole which was the worst meal ever. Some boiled veg and lamb in a watery gravy. I’m just thankful I didn’t pay full price and got it on eat out to help out.

We popped in for coffee. Prices were reasonable but the coffee weak and poor. The restaurant lacks 'soul' but does have fabulous views over the bay and harbour. There is some outdoor seating which is pleasant but crowdedService was pleasant and effectiveThe lunch menu was not inspiring so we decided not to stay.Covid measures fine with track and trace done electronically

Huge portions and great kids menu. The food was amazing and the kids food was excellent quality, they even added a large side of seasonal veg to the kids portion at no extra cost for my veg loving 7 year old. Desserts are fabulous and I would highly recommend the profiteroles!

Ate here twice whilst staying on Islay... Both meals were lovely especially the black pudding and scallops starter. Good service with friendly staff. Nice atmosphere and views of the bay especially if you can get by the windows. Best to book. Huge selection of whisky.

Thank goodness a few bars and restaurants have opened on Islay after lockdown. We had drinks here in the afternoon and then returned later for dinner. They are running with all the COVID-19 restrictions and the staff are managing the situation really well. The food was top notch; steak pie and tuna mayonnaise on a baked potato, no complaints at all. The views across the water are outstanding and all in all this was a great place to visit.

Magnificent seafood done simply. No frills, the way fresh seafood should be done! Thanks for a fantastic meal.

Pretty basic restaurant with little atmosphere and plain wooden furniture. Our starter of fresh scallops and grilled black pudding was excellent but after that the choices and subsequent food were not great. I had fish and chips, thick slightly soggy batter and tasteless chips. My daughter had the bean burger with goats cheese which was a thick slab that had hardly been melted with the same tasteless chips. We managed to find a reasonable Rioja and tried an Islay gin and tonic before the meal so at least that part was enjoyable.

Lochside seemed quintessential Scotland to me. Right on the bay....safe and sound from the cold, the rain and the howling wind. Loved it. The three of us had a roomy room on the top with three individual beds. Nice view of the bay and the main street on the other side. Also a very cozy restaurant and bar (2 sides). Scallops with black sausage was perfectly prepared and the lamb stew was very nice. My family were very pleased with their steak pie and roasted chicken. Unfortunately we never made it to the bar(s) which had a fantastic selection of whiskies and other spirits. But after the distilleries and in accordance with our circadian rhythms it was time to simply retire to the safety of our roomy room.

Die Webseite suggeriert etwas upper class. Tatsächlich ist dieses country Inn aber auch etwas mehr als ein 3 Sterne Hotel in Mitten der Whisky Insel. Die Zimmer sind schottisch klein und verwinkelt. Lediglich Zimmer 9 wird gerne hervor gehoben mit Boxsping Betten und Sicht nach 2 Seiten. Das Restaurant mit seeview ist ok- Frühstücks Lady etwas mürrisch, Herausragend die Chefin und die Whisky Auswahl. Hier ist fast alles da.

A bright and open restaurant with great views of the Loch. Sadly it was dark when we arrived but we had popped in to look at the menu earlier in the day. The staff were friendly and the food arrived quickly.

Abbiamo usufruito del ristorante sia per colazione che per cena, la colazione ottima e abbondante, forse l'haggis un po' troppo asciutto tagliato a fette e non spalmabile come piace a mé, per cena ho mangiato un piatto di carbonara, che provo in ogni posto che vado (conscio dei rischi) e devo dire che aldilà della ricetta originale, era molto buona e l'ho mangiata con gusto. Ottime birre e selezione di più di 100 whisky.

Unsere Essen waren alle sehr lecker, durch den Wintergarten hat man eine tolle Aussicht aufs Meer (Terrasse gibt es auch) und die Bar hat eine gigantische Auswahl an Whiskys (leider nicht alle bezahlbar - Raritäten).

Have had here dinners twice. Good and tasty food, friendly staff. Especially the dishes on the daily menu was good. Left with positive impressions and would come back next time when on Islay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The cooking is good although not subtle in presentation.The staff are pleasant and friendly but could improve table awareness. I noticed a few customers trying to get attention but the staff didn’t notice - just a wee bit of training required perhaps?The view is lovely, looking across the loch.I do recommend the Lochside.

Nous avons bien mangé. La soupe du jour est très bonne. L’entrée saumon fumé et saumon cuit, un délice. Par contre le plat suivant contenait du gluten et cela n’aurait pas dû être le cas. Un gros bémole pour moi.

There isn't a lot of choice in terms of where to eat in Bowmore and, given the rain, we were pleased to get a table at this restaurant. However, service was slow and the restaurant manager (owner?) gave the impression that she would rather be elsewhere. On the other hand, the views across the loch are excellent and a wading heron close by provided entertainment value.

First time having Scallops as mains and it was just delicious. Perfectly cooked with butter and garlic. The starter , a shrimp cocktail, was ok but a bit too drenched in sauce. Lemon cheesecake for dessert was very nice. The Beer-Battered haddock was delicious. It’s really tasty food, however we only sampled seafood dishes.

We had an excellent breakfast which was very good value for money and the view was superb. Attentive service and good quality food.

Ate here as a group of 4, no where else could accommodate so late on a Saturday night but the restaurant squeezed us in thankfully. Portion size's were large and the food was amazing, prices were more than reasonable too. Staff were very helpful and the views from our table were stunning. Would definitely eat here again.

First day in Islay, we headed here for a drink and a drink turned into a meal ... no regrets. We had a drink outside as we took in the view over the bay, I could have sat there for ages. It was hard not to relax in these surroundings. We then decided to have a meal and we were not disappointed. My husband had fish and chips followed by profiteroles (he loves his chocolate) and I had sea bass with scallops followed by Lochisde meringue & ice cream. All accompanied by a nice picpoul wine.

Appena ordiniamo gran parte dei piatti nel menu non è disponibile tra cui le capesante (visibili in molte foto) e l’agnello. Ordiniamo il Merluzzo cotto nella birra e l’anatra con black pudding. Tuttavia insieme all’anatra arriva un fish and chips (che viene presentato dalla cameriera esattamente come Fish and Chips). Di fronte alle nostre lamentele affermano che il piatto arrivato è quello ordinato, nonostante palesemente io mostri sul menu la diversa dicitura. Lo mangiamo ugualmente dopo una giornata a digiuno ma forse era meglio andare a letto senza cena. Patatine maleodoranti (olio da cambiare), panatura spessissima immangiabile.

My second time visiting the Lochside Inn, we called in for lunch. A nice choice of food, we had sandwiches which were delicious and I great choice of food on the kids menu. We sat in the window overlooking the sea and enjoyed the views. We called in again for drinks a few times, a nice selection of drinks and whisky with great staff and a friendly service.

Lovely meal! Scallops were perfect! Staff were really nice! Kids menu was just right and everything arrive promptly! We will definitely be back

Enjoyed dinner when the Harbour Inn was fully booked. Good food, great view. Enjoyed the Lamb casserole.

Good menu, good food and friendly staff all make this a great dining experience. The view has to be mentioned. Not much to notice as you enter but please make the trip here. I cant imagine anyone being disappointed.

This had lovely views over the Loch. The breakfast porridge was excellent. We tended to choose seafood options on the menu. It was hearty food.

We ate here twice when we visited Islay and the restaurant was busy both times with a mix of reserved tables and walk-ups. We hadn't made a reservation but were greeted by friendly staff and seated quickly on both occasions. The food was very good, if a little pricey, and the view out over the sea is stunning. The chef was able to prepare a dairy -free version of one of the specials on our first night. Recommended.

We were staying in the hotel and had dinner on the first and last night. The staff are very friendly and the food plentiful and delicious. The chowder is especially delicious. The views from most tables are just stunning. It was my birthday on the last night and the staff brought out a birthday cake singing happy birthday to me!!! Well worth a visit, thank you.

The interesting local food was fresh and fine, the location right near the Bowmore B&B;, we and our tour-mates had an enjoyable evening.

We needed to have an early lunch, in order to make our plane back to Edinburgh. We had no reservations but just dropped in - the first ones for the lunch (they were just finishing cleaning) and they were very accommodating. The view from our table was beautiful (I love Bowmore!!) and my sandwich and chips quite tasty. My son traveling with me also greatly enjoyed his lunch. I would love to come back again and try dinner, or even stay at the Inn.

We came without a reservation on a Tues at 5:30 , but they were accommodating and explained they just needed the table back by 7pm. No problem. (Things book up early on Islay so be sure to make reservations!) Great fish and chips (not cheap, but i suppose on par for Islay?), and the servers were so earnest and warm. I asked for malt vinegar and the server brought me some immediately. Only for me to realize they were right there in front of me in packets. That kind of service is really special (the waiter could have easily pointed out that, duh, they’re right there in front of you, but instead he was accommodating). Great views of the loch—living up to its name.

We stopped in here for dinner last week. We were early enough that we didn’t need reservations. They were out of haddock which made me sad, but I asked them to double the scallop app as a main and it was very good. Husband was happy with game terrine and lamb and veg casserole.

Wir waren in den letzten Jahren schon öfter hier essen. Diesmal hatten wir wirklich Pech damit. Die Hamburger waren extrem durchgebraten, dadurxh hart und trocken. Der Salat welk. Für die Küche gebe ich null Punkte. Für den netten Service ein Punkt.

Love this hotel from the staff to the food! The room was well decorated & the hotel is in an except location in Bowmore. Loch side with breathtaking water views.

Bon restaurant, bon repas (la soupe était particulièrement délicieuse). Bon service. Nous y sommes retournés une deuxième fois lors de notre passage à Bowmore.

Very tasty food is served in this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and are really helpful. Since this is a popular restaurant it is recommend to book a table in advance.

Selection of whiskies great, food very good, staff helpful and friendly. If you're in the area and need some food then this is a good place to visit.

Unfortunately, our original dinner plans fell through because our request to dine at The Harbour Inn didn’t materialize because apparently their email was down. Seems a rather pathetic excuse in the 21st century. Nevertheless, we ended up at The Lochside. I had their smoked haddock risotto and my husband had their mussels cooked in a whisky cream sauce. Portions were generous and our dinners were absolutely delicious!!!

Fell across this one night when a bit early for supper. What a gem! From outside it looks tired & run down, inside it's boutique hotel chic! So we went back for dinner. Great bar, great food, great service & fabulous view.

While visiting Islay for a few days we were recommended to this restaurant (we had eaten here on a visit 8 years ago & they were as accommodating then) as they were last week. We hadn’t booked - they were extremely busy - but nothing was too much trouble. We were well fed on both occasions- sublime scallops. A menu to suit all tastes & nationality’s - what more could you ask for, while enjoying the view of the loch from the majority of tables.

Schönes, mit Glasfront in Richtung Meer versehenes, Restaurant. Ausgezeichnete und riesige fish&chips;!!! Unbedingt hier die Haggis probieren! Mögen Sie Leber oder Leberknödel? Dann mögen Sie auch Haggis! Parken ist vor dem Haus möglich.

Freundlichem Personal und wirklich einem atemberaubenden Blick. Das Essen war oke - Scallops waren nicht so der Hit. Trotzdem sehr nett.
