Had a lovely lunch here very tasty I will definitely be back the next time I am in islay I can't wait for my next visit r To the distillery cafe

Coffee was good if a little small, we had coffee cake and carrot cake, the coffee cake was great but the carrot cake was a bit dry which is unusual but it was cold so I think it was in the fridge which made it tasteless. Dog friendly seating area on leather sofas and chairs next to the gift shop zone.

Pleasant but basic menu offered in distillery cafe: choice of cheese / tuna / whatever with either baked spud or panini. Not imaginative, but pleasant for what it was, with nice youngsters serving. Feel it’s a missed opportunity for Kilchoman to aim a bit higher with their cafe offering.

A fantastic cafe within the farm distillery. Great menu which was good value. Located within the visitor centre near the shop. One of the only distilleries with a cafe. Will definitely stop by again.

Tasty lunch! I wish that more of Islay’s distilleries served food. Definitely try the Cullen Skink (and then the whisky). Toasties were good too, and my wife loved the hot chocolate.

Nice casual lunch, love eating in the old stables, it feels very cosy. Staff were very nice and friendly. I used to come to Kilchoman and Islay as a child and even though the location of the cafe has changed the menu definitely hasn’t. Comforting soup and sandwiches but maybe a bit expensive for what it is.

Stopped off here between legs of a journey. Food was decent and reasonably priced. Cullen skink was excellent but baked potato was microwaved and served with bland commercial cheese.

New but very charming with many options to sit and enjoy a dram, or a cup of tea or coffee. Lovely (!) food and cakes. Offering great tasting choices and gifts from local artisans

We had a great visit to kilchoman recently. We booked the tour which I've been wanting to do for a couple of years now and we weren't disappointed. The girl that led the tour was so informative and passionate about whisky and the craft of making it. my wife, who isn't a whisky drinker, really enjoyed the tour too. We had lunch there and the coffee and cake after was great, All the staff were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again

Great little cafe attached to the distillery. The food was delicious, simple and quick for a lunch. Cullen skink was very good.

we were surprised by the quality of the restaurant and the good prices . The kilchoman soup was delicious and the service was awesome.

Came here for a tour early in morning and booked a table for lunch .. heard great reviews from fellow travellers on other tours.. it didn’t disappoint! The hardest part was choosing what to order . We had the Cullen skink each and shared a toastie sandwich. We couldn’t resist a huge slice of Victoria sponge cake to finish off our lunch. Food was delicious and well priced. Customer service excellent. Would definitely recommend this cafe for lunch!

The new visitor centre and restaurant are excellent. The Cullen skink is the very best you can ever taste!!!! The staff are extremely Ely friendly and helpful. Visit Islay several times a year and Kilhoman is always high up on places to visit. Other food also available but taste the Cullen skink and am sure you won't be disappointed

It was super convenient that the distillery had a cafe - it was perfect before our 7 mile hike to Port Charlotte. The food was well priced and tasty. That said the server forgot our salad and slaw. The server said it was substituted with the soup we also ordered. When I went to pay the cashier said they had to charge us for the soup anyway. I didn’t want to make a big deal because we were running late. But it would be great if the place was more organized.

We had great food for lunch and the service was excellent. You should book in advance even in low season or you probably won't get a table...

One can sit here before or after the excellent distillery tour, or while the rest of the family is doing the tour, or simply come to enjoy the coffee, the cakes and food and the service. Recommended.

Stopped for lunch as well as a tour of the distillery. Have to say the food was excellent : pea & ham soup and haggis with red onion marmalade panini followed by shortbread and coffee. Would we go back - absolutely yes!

This is a modern vibrant visitors centre with a good restaurant which is extremely popular and advisable to book in advance. The whisky was not bad either. Amazing location near a world class beach.

Cullen skink 11 out of 10. Staff very friendly if not a little hung over from the night after their open day. Was our second trip to the cafe and would go again if our visit to Islay were to last longer.

Menu is simple with soup, panini and jacket potatoes. But just that little bit more - interesting booths to sit in , panini with well prepared mixed salad and coleslaw. Service was quick. Great little pitstop

Following a terrific tour and tasting, this is a great place to sit and relax for some tasty baked goods and a non-alcoholic (gasp) beverage!

Came here for lunch and I wasn’t disappointed. Lovely visitors centre with a nice cafe / not a big menu but excellent. Cakes were really good. Also nice area to try a dram (or two). We’ll definitely be back.

The gluten free chocolate brownies we had were real melt in the mouth and the coffee was also excellent. I would certainly recommend this for a visit and there was also a variety of high quality gifts.

After visiting Kilchoman Graveyard, a visit to the Cafe is a must, the Cullen Skink is fantastic. Just one small word of warning, the Cafe is very small this year as they are relocating to the old stables next door, so could be a bit of a wait to get seated, that said the menu is worth it.

This is perfect for those visiting the distillery, although it’s pretty remote for a random lunch stop while touring the island. Service was fast and friendly. I had a toasty with red onion marmalade, a half cup of Cullen Skink, a yummmmy apple crisp with ice cream, and a latte. I’m not a scotch drinker but this gave me a place to eat and relax while the others in my group did a tasting.

We did a distillery tour which was great - we were able to see all aspects of the production process. They also allow photos of their entire facility and the guide was very knowledgeable. You sample dramas throughout the tour which was nice. We had lunch after our tour and the paninis were good.

Busy cafe-section of big space selling whisky-related goods. Pleasant staff served our large group in jig-time...tasty soups, panini, scones and cakes; good coffee and tea. Happily recommend here for a pit-stop.

We toured the distillery - loved that. We went for a walk down to the beach and returned for lunch. Lovely food - straightforward and good.

I had brunch before my distillery tour, and it was amazing. The Cullen was rich and the seafood in it was very generous. Panini was fresh and crispy, I dipped the crispy panini in the cullen and it was a true delight.

My husband Cullon Skink (it's a bit like a fish soup/broth) and found it was delicious. The range of food offered is good and well priced. There is the added bonus of tasting the whiskey at your table if you want.

The food here is very good, We'd both gotten coffee in the morning to take with us on the early tour, and once the tour was done, we'd grabbed half sandwiches and soup, and the soup was potato leek, and it was so delicious we wanted to take it with us which we did. Its very pleasant and relaxing, you can do tastings if that your desire.

This was a really lovely little cafe. We had a sandwich and soup combo for lunch and a nice piece of cake after. Great place to put into the schedule for a pit stop as you tour the distilleries in the area.

We sampled each current bottling as part of a table tasting as the tour was full. The young man leading this explained each in depth. We ended up buying the distillery single cask which was great. Don’t bother buying bottles you can get elsewhere, only buy what you can only get from the distillery!!

We ate lunch here on a trip to the distillery. We both had the Cullen Skink soup which was delicious. I also did a whisky tasting which was excellent. My husband was driving so had coffee and a tiny taste of my whiskies. The staff were friendly and helpful. Worth the visit.

Very nice farm Distillery cafe with local food styles. Young staff, though knowledgable in the local Whisky. Fair pricing. Nice facility before and after a Tour around the Distillery.

Second time visiting the island and it certainly did not disappoint. Having never tried the Cullen Skink I was a bit apprehensive but I can honestly say it’s the best soup I have ever tasted. So much so my mouth is actually watering writing this. Would definitely recommend.

Fabulous lunch here I would recommend the Cullen skink which was absolutely delicious. Kids are catered for very well too. Absolutely delicious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Great gift shop here too.

A wonderful cafe, offering a tremendous menu ranging from homemade soups and sandwiches to scrumptious home baking (recommendation: try the Cullen Skink - it’s to die for!!). This is a fabulous addition to Kilchoman Distillery and well worth paying a visit to - especially if you’ve had a dram or two!!

Popped into the café before our tour of the distillery. The reviews I had read were spot on; this place is really, really good. The lunches were excellent, in particular the beef wraps with horseradish mayo, and the coffee was superb. The service was friendly and fast. Thanks!

Ww had read good reviews about this cafe off the beat and path at the Kilchoman Distillery. It did not disappoint. The Cullen Skink soup was delicious, as was the haggis with onion panini. Kids had haggis on a baked potato and a salmon sandwich, and huband had brie and bacon sabdwich - all very good. It is inside visitor center at distillery, so it is convenient if you want a tour or tasting.

We had lunch at the Kilchoman distillery on pur way to the Machir Bay. Welcome and food were excellent with a delicious typical Scottish soup as well as their baked potatoes. One of the rare place for having lunch in that part of the island.

Huge scones, lots of nice tea, clotted cream and jam. Friendly staff, quick service and well set out dining area attached to the well stocked shop. Excellent!

We were on Islay for a week birdwatching in November. The cafe at Kilchoman is lovely and warm, then again anything is better than a bird hide in November on Islay! Saying that we go to Islay every year at the same time and thoroughly enjoy it no matter what the weather throws at us.

This is only a small cafe tucked away beyond the gift shop but it serves good quality food at a good price. Not exactly the kind of place to find 'when passing' as it is well off the beaten track but well worth seeking out if you have the time.

Enjoyed a trip here to tick off the last distillery on our trip. Didn't do the tour but clearly popular as all tours were sold out. Good value at £7 including 2 drams and a Kilchoman glass. Uniquely they malt their own barley from Islay grown grain. You could try 3 of their more standard malts for £5 or 3 of their more complex ones for £10 which was reasonable

I have to disagree with the majority of the reviews and I don't know if we caught the cafe on a bad day. The tables and floor were dirty with crumbs and discarded food. We ordered teas and a coffee to go with some cakes. The cakes arrived but fifteen minutes later no teas. The system seemed to break down as the girl making the teas also took the orders at the counter and broke off from tea-making to deal with arrivals. Just what the other girls around the serving area were doing was not clear. When we gave up on the drinks and tried to pay for what we had had there was no one on the cafe till so we had to pursue the sales staff in the souvenir shop to pay. I would not recommend this cafe over the many other cafes and tearooms on Islay.

Pleasant staff and lovely reasonably priced snacks. They have a good gift shop also. Great place to wait if you are the driver and waiting for the tasting to finish

Been here on several visits now and can't praise the young girl who is their chef highly enough ! Everything is home made and her cakes, Cullen Skink and soups are to die for.Best distillery café ....no, even best Cafe on the island !!

We all had lunch at Kilchomans distillery before our tour. Ordered their local fish soup which was excellent and some paninis. They also serve baked potatoes. Combined with a bottled beer or two.

Called here for lunch on our first day on Islay. Soup and a sandwich was good and staff pleasant but service slow.

Had lunch in this lovely cafe after the distillery tour. Food was very good and tasty- soup and sandwiches. I have given it 4 stars as we waited almost half an hour for our food and when we enquired, the wait was because the soup was not quite ready! Not sure why we were not informed of this when we placed our order. Communication is key or you may find customers will have to leave as they have a tour booked at some other distillery.

We visited for lunch a few days ago as we were planning a tour of the distillery. You take your own seat/menu and order at the bar-a lot of people found this confusing and we watched them wait for ages, being ignored by staff and then eventually left. We ordered drinks and soup/baked potatoes-think we must have waited nearly 30 minutes before the soup was brought over for 2 of our group, another 5-10 minutes later and the baked potatoes still hadn't arrived for the other 2 of us. Someone in our group noticed them sitting on the side and asked one of the staff if they were for us, the reply was something along the lines of not being sure who'd ordered them...!? So when they arrived they weren't hot and actually the soup had obviously been sitting for a while since they all had quite a thick film on the top. We then had to remind them that we'd ordered drinks-are you not want to get them soon after ordering and before food? One drink arrived, had to remind of another drink we'd ordered but eventually got there. Food was fair, not amazing but if the service had been better I think we'd have enjoyed the food a whole lot more. A real shame, and unfortunately would not go back. Needs big changes to professionalism from staff and being more alert of what's going on instead of customers taking the initiative.

We had lunch here before going on a tour of the distillery, and were pleased with the selection of soup and sandwiches that they made on the premises. Service was casual but friendly.

Service was fine and food acceptable. However the toasties were advertised as being with coleslaw but none on the plate. When we enquired about this we were told there was none. We ordered a bowl of crisps and this was a complete rip off at £1.95 for a small bowl of crisps. Most other places include crisps in the price! It would have been a nice gesture if we had not been charged for the crisps due to the fact there was no coleslaw. There are much better eating places in Islay and I would not return.
