Lovley place very friendly and a life saver after being let down by another staycation. Food fabulous .

Fantastic food freshly made Great staff nothing is a hassle to the owner and staff spotless clean

Very busy, which is usually a good sign. However, 20 minutes after we sat down we were offered drinks and to give the food order. 10 minutes later the drinks arrived, minus one of the drinks ordered. It was still busy, with only two staff serving, and they did apologise about the delay. The food was good, nothing standout about it, apart from the lack of wilted greens with the seafood special. By this stage we’d lost the will to complain.

We visited the restaurant for dinner with a tour group. From the very nice and attentive staff to the menu, everything was perfect. We can recommend the restaurant without reservation. Thanks to the excellent staff.

Popped in tonight with no reservation during our visit to Tarbert. Lovely menu with great selection. We went for Fish Moroccan Stew & special fish of the day. Both delicious & very generous portions.. Gorgeous selection of salmon, scallops & prawns. Staff great & nice atmosphere. Prices really good for the produce served. Well worth a visit.

Exceeded expectations - good food, excellent friendly service and high quality surroundings. Oysters and scallops were outstanding while Fish & Chips were good tho my wife’s batter needed to be a bit hotter and crispier.

Tarbert is a lovely little harbor town, and the Sea Bed was a perfect quiet dinner spot for our single night stay. We ordered the seafood platter for two. Delicious and quite filling!

Food was excellent, service was great.

Both had venison haunch with greens, mash, bramble jus. Service was very good, attentive without being overwhelming. Venison cooked to perfection and the greens had been seasoned in a really interesting and delightful way. Mash was the only slight letdown as it was a little dry. Would happily eat her again.

One of the great joys of a trip to Scotland is to eat the seafood and on this brief cycle trip we tried the Sea Bed restaurant. It was one of those places where the variety on the menu makes you wish you had a few more nights to work your way through it. I eventually settled on the Seafood Platter but as I didn't think that would fill me after a day on the bike I started with a very decent Cullen Skink. I was only half way through that when a huge seafood platter arrived at a neighbouring table and I realised the enormity of my tactical error. Nevertheless I rallied to the cause when my own Platter arrived. I'm ashamed to say I didn't get quite to the end. It wasn't just the eating that made it enjoyable; it was the sheer fun of working through this wonderful dish. It was a great experience. My son, who is a confirmed carnivore had the Steak and Ale Pie and said it was very good. I'm not in a position to comment on the dessert courses for obvious reasons. I'd better go back for another try at the menu when I get a chance. Thanks for a super meal.

Really nice restaurant in a small hotel and town. But the atmosphere is quiet and calm, the service is superb and most important the food is so good! And prices are quite reasonable for very large portions. For the three of us we each got something different each of two nights and can highly recommend everything we tried. Cullen skink is very good but be careful as it is really hot when it comes out. The mussels are perfectly cooked and the cream sauce they ar in would make a great soup all by itself. Fantastic to dip your bread in. Langostines and scallops all perfectly cooked and seasoned. Peat smoked haddock had just the right amount of peat smoke, fish and chips very nice but my personal favorite was the Moroccan fish stew. Awesome complex flavors and loaded with seafood, not just fish. Desserts were good but pale in comparison to the meal. Wine list small but adequate.

Fantastic food, superb flavours, great menu selection in a relaxed and welcoming environment. So glad we booked here for our overnight stay in Tarbert. We were spoilt for choice with both starters and mains. My wife ordered ham hock terrine - delicious and I went for langoustines - fabulous. For mains the scallops with black pudding was perfectly cooked and presented and my Moroccan fish stew was one of the tastiest fish dishes I have come across We were not rushed but the staff were attentive, welcoming and helpful Overall a great restaurant

You wouldn't think that cooking and serving a portion of fish & chips is difficult. Apparently it is in Tarbert! We decided to give this place another chance, as our previous experience wasn't very good. We ordered fish & chips, and were served some form of slimy white substance wrapped in a pale wet oily handkerchief, with some greasy cold potato wedges on the side. There was some green mush spread over the plate which (we assumed) was supposed to be originating from peas. I sent my meal back to be cooked, and when it was returned the result wasn't much of an improvement. - clearly the microwave wasn't working We felt sorry for the young waitress - whilst very pleasant, she could only make the excuse that the place was busy. When serving food, every meal coming out of the kitchen should be of an adequate standard. We suggest that you bring your own picnic instead of paying good money for slop!

Abbiamo cenato in questo grazioso ristorante per due sere di seguito, nel nostro soggiorno a Tarbert perchè ci siamo trovati molto bene e abbiamo voluto ripetere l'esperienza (abbiamo prenotato entrambe le volte perchè è sempre pieno) . Il locale è davvero pulito, accogliente, tranquillo, atmosfera romantica. Le ragazze che ci hanno servito davvero carine e gentili. Abbiamo preso cervo, steak pie e pesce tutto ottimo e servito co cura. Buone anche le birre. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Assolutamente consigliato.

Lovely food and great service on both visits this month. We stopped in twice during our 2 week sailing holiday. Delicious!

This is a review of the Seabed restaurant in the Anchor Hotel, Tarbert. Visited with family on 30th June and 3rd July 2023. On our first visit, the food was very good quality, fresh and flavoursome. Unfortunately standards had slipped on our second visit. Our starter was Cullen skink which was a bit watery and had a strange "sour" taste as though it was fresh out of the freezer. For mains we had Haddock & Chips, and Steal Pie and mash. The haddock was very fresh, and the chips were actually potato wedges - fine if you like chips unpeeled. Now the steak pie was less than appetising. Large chinks of tough steak full of gristle and fat. The pastry top was a bit stale, and the mash had the most strange flavour. Then we had Eton mess for dessert. A couple of raspberries, a small portion of broken meringue, and a spoonful of Chantilly cream apparently is the Tarbert version. When paying the bill, I had to query why the prices being charged were in excess of the price advertised on the menu. £7 advertised for Cullen skink, and £8 charged. £6 advertised for Eton mess and £9 being charged. a total of £8 attempted overcharge. I did query this, and the overcharge was immediately refunded, BUT this should not have happened!!

Absolutely fantastic dining experience from the minute we arrived. We didn't have a reservation but the staff managed to fit us in. The service, food and ambience was top class and very reasonably priced. In additionnto this the owner James took time out to speak with us. A true professional and it shows in his staff. We checked the menus of the most popular restaurants in Tarbert and decided to give Sea bed a try and we can definitely recommend it…service was excellent & food was delicious. We chose cullen skink rissotto for starter with bread basket and it was plenty for both of us. For main my husband had wild mushroom & tarragon stuffed chicken with tarragon sauce, I had steak & ale pie with roasted veg & mash. Both dishes were large portions and very tasty. A btl of pinot grigio with it and our bill was only £68, we were very impressed and will definitely visit again when in Tarbert.

This was my first time eating in this establishment and I was very pleased with my experience. The server Grace did an exceptional job, considering she was serving meals, tending the bar and checking guests in at reception. The menu was extensive but uncomplicated. My partner and I opted for homemade burgers, he for the steak and me for the chicken. Both came with a plate full of accompaniments and the best chips I have tasted in a long time. Grace was so charming she managed to talk us into having desserts. Again, they came beautifully presented and just enough to tickle the tastebuds. We shall certainly be back and would bring friends to eat here. Only one tiny complaint, it was a little bit cold but not uncomfortably so.

Mu husband and I started with a few local beers on tap, fresh shucked oysters and Cullen skank soup. Then onto the most delicious hot seafood platter in a wonderful sauce ( lots of bread dipping) and we had no room for desert. Just an incredible meal. Mocked a bit by the server for finishing it all.

Felt really disappointed with not only the food, which was bland, but also the service. Despite there being a children's menu, it felt very unwelcoming for children. Made worse by some staff members who should improve their manner for working in the service industry.
