The Bonnie Clyde in Argyll & Bute

Looks can be deceiving, we (6 ) had a good meal all with different dishes, Every one of our group was happy & relieved - just getting a place to eat on the Island is difficult. The main town does not inspire!

Possibly the worst kebab I’ve ever had.

An interesting place, where the menu spans Italian, Scottish, and middle eastern fare. Our group spanned the choices, including pizza, falafel, and haggis. All of the food was hot and tasty. I wouldn’t classify this as a gourmet destination, but a nice place for a meal on a rainy afternoon. It is dog friendly, to the point where it is almost dog-required.

Dinner was superb my friend requested a really spicy curry and said it was one of the best he'd ever had Highly recommend you can take your own bottle Only thing I would add is some background music Will definitely eat there again Host was very accommodating

The restaurant had a really nice family atmosphere. It's clearly a hard working business with family involved and pride in the food. I would have like to see more Syrian food on the menu, but what was there was delicious. I had Langoustine to start, which were well cooked, tasty and served with a fine aioli. For main course, the Syrian chicken Kebab was subtle but fine in flavour and juicy. The rice was lovely and fluffy and the flatbreads delicious. The children were treated to some beautiful hummus, which was not, thank goodness, just overpowered by garlic. The service by the young waiter was accommodating and friendly and he was, I think, taking pride in his family business. Not for those who want everything immaculate, but for us, it had a real free wheeling authentic charm. Thanks for the lovely meal.

Yuk yuk yuk. Don’t eat here. Waited 40 mins for food to arrive. Ordered prawn Rogan Josh which was like soup with prawns and millions of onions. And lots of prawn shells too. No taste, had to add tons of salt which didn’t really make a difference. No alcohol license so had water. Did feel a bit sorry for the lad who was front of house. Seemed to be working on his own.

Ordered calamari to start received 4 pieces of what I can only describe as frozen and very expensive at £8.25 for the portion. The main course of chicken with rosemary & mushroom cream sauce was tasteless and sauce was watery. Grossly overpriced substandard food and service.

After reading the reviews on here we thought it would be a great meal out however when ordering the fish tea, the small fish was tasteless (even adding what tasted like diluted vinegar didn't help!), the chips were frozen, the white bread was cheap and basic and it came with a random garlic sauce rather than tartar. The wrap ordered came with no garnish, missing ingredients and any potential nice taste was overpowered with too much onion and chilli sauce. We went home via the shops to get something to eat with actual taste at a much cheaper price! So poor we could only laugh but sadly £30 wasted!

Amazed to find such variety of excellent foods. Great pakora, great pizza and even great Cullen Skink...hand cut Chips the best on the island.

Didn't get to taste the food. Called by at 2pm today to check we could still bring our own wine. Said we'd be back in an hour. SHUT even though says open till 10pm! Won't be back!

Got the macaroni cheese and it was absolutely banging. Great food and service.

There was three afilts , two children and the staff were very friendly ,the food was amazing great choices and opened until 10pm .

Very hood food, the chicken pakooras are a must. Strange mix of Syrian Scottish and Italian options but it seems to work.

Warning. The food is not as advertised and overpriced, I ordered cous cous and a 'fried onion salad' however was presented with a small cold salad with one raw onion and a lettuce leaf. The cous cous had no flavour and was grey and all stuck together. It was like nothing I've ever eaten before and would not reccomend. My mother got the lentil soup which was equally as bland. Seems the chef isn't very good at all, the staff were polite and friendly but nothing stood out about the customer service. Do not come here for dinner with family as it will be a let down!

A fabulous Syrian three course meal in the middle of the afternoon. Excellent service and large menu. Very reasonably priced too. The waiter even brought our dog a sausage and a bowl of water for under the table.

Had a lovely meal last night after a tiring day cycling on the Isle. Were met with a very friendly smile, very welcoming. And the food....well....perfect! Hot, tasty and just what we needed after full day of fresh air and sunshine. Highly recommend!

Popped in for dinner on a Monday night. The Syrian food is very tasty and wide range of vegan options. BYOB is a bonus!

Such a good find, staff were just lovely, and the food was excellent. Both Syrian dishes from the menu, the mujadara with added chicken and the shish tawhook were tasty dishes. A little extra flatbread treat from the chef went down very well. It is certainly an eclectic menu, but if the standard of food we had runs through the menu then definitely give this little gem a try. Dog friendly as well.

Awful awful experience! We ordered 3 bowls of chips to keep us going and a pot of tea and got charged £20!!!! When questioned he changed the price set on the menu for both chips and the pot of tea. £3.95 for chips became £4.95 and £1.90 for a pot of (awful) tea became £4.95 as well. When challenged on the price of the chips he couldn’t decide if this was because we ate in or because they didn’t usually do chips at that time of day (5:30 pm) And the pot of tea (for the 2 adults in the group) apparently it was a large one. A single sports direct mug would have been bigger. This was all after he had very bizarrely left us in the restaurant when he disappeared for 10 minutes with just his vape and his phone. As my slightly useless partner had paid without thinking, as we were about to get on the ferry, we were stuck in a position of asking for money back. Which it became evident was not going to happen. 0/10 never again.

A lovely lunch! As a family of 7 we had a really lovely lunch here. We had soup, bread hummus, halloumi wraps & home made pizzas. Service very good and staff very friendly. Nice relaxing environment. Would definitely return!

Four of us went to the Bonnie and Clyde as we had never been before and heard some nice reviews. We were not disappointed the food was marvellous. 3 of us opted for Arabic starters and mains and one had traditional Scottish (steak pie). The starters of humous, baked baby aubergine and falafel were delicious. The Syrian Shish and tikka kebabs were outstanding and the home made bread great. The steak pie was rich and full of meat.the Syrian sweet as dessert was a real treat. Well done guys, excellent food, we will deffo be back. One bit of critique though - service needs to be smoother , especially when moving from one course to another, get the plates cleared quicker. Not enough to drop a star though so well done.

We called in and were uncertain whether we'd made a wise choice as the place is a bit tired looking and the menu was very, errr, cosmopolitan, featuring everything from neeps and tatties to pasta dishes and curries. Our group ordered an eclectic mix of kebab, pizza and Syrian lentil curry, however, we were pleasantly surprised with the tasty food and friendly service. We got the impression it had recently been taken over, hence the clash of cultures and identity crisis, however, for five hungry sailors on a drizzly October evening it was well worth a visit (worked out as £16 pp for a main and one/two soft drinks).

Excellent cafe. The staff were very helpful in getting us some takeaway food quickly so we could catch our ferry. The chicken shawarma wrap was delicious. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Rothesay.

We had an unusual Arabic breakfast which was delicious with falafels, humous and spices. As a result we had dinner there too, would highly recommend the babaganoush and home made cheese samosas. A bonus is BYOB and they supply glasses. Right near the Ferry in Rothesay.

3 star as food although nice enough was over priced for what it is. £6.95 for mixed pakora which was 1 bit of chicken and 3 veg 🤣. I got the shawarma wrap again £14 I'd expect to pay about 7 quid for that. As I say the food did taste nice but it didn't justify the price. I felt i paid way over the odds for what we were given.

There is such a selection of food it's hard to decide what to have but it is good quality and service recommended 👍

My grandkids picked this place, really needs a facelift inside reason for the 3 stars. All the food and service was lovely resulting in empty plates. Special thanks for all the mayonnaise to keep my granddaughter happy. A few days spent redecorating could my this a great place to take the kids when in Rothesay.

What can I say I’ve visited this restaurant at least 6 times over the last 3 years when I’m over on bute an up till now it’s been a wonderful experience! This time however it was terrible was food terrible soup bland an tasteless the fresh Langoustines were not fresh they were soft an to be honest tasted disgusting like they were weeks old highland fling a waste of money a rip off. The waiting staff were all new this time an not up to the job slow don’t no the menu rude just not a pleasant establishment disappointed as once was a wonderful experience with the freshest seafood an tasty soup

Cold day in December and there were very few people about. You would have thought they would have welcomed everybody in. But despite there being four of us and there was a large window table free (the place was deserted) we were ushered onto a back table in case a larger group came in. There was no larger group? The snap was fine!
