We went here for a meal with friends on Saturday 19-10-24 the menu had something for everyone and the food was delicious the girl serving us was truly amazing there were six of us and she memorised all of our food and drink orders and put our individual orders down in front of us without having to check who ordered what I will definitely be back

One of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. Waited over an hour after our order was taken. Food was cold when it arrived. Sent back and appeared to have been microwaved when it came back. It was scant and mediocre at best and I was still hungry afterwards. We tried to salvage the evening by ordering dessert and one of the party had another long wait after everyone else was served. I'd heard good things about this restaurant and I was very disappointed. Maybe we were just unlucky, but I won't be back to find out.

Food was very very nice, stuff was very polite and helpfull. First time we went there we had cullen skink (chowder) and that was the best i ever had. The next day we had trout and fish and chips and they was amazing. Recommend the place 100%

We visited today for lunch and were so glad we did! Staff very friendly and helpful. The food was brilliant- big portions and all very tasty and fresh. Excellent value for money in lovely, trendy surroundings. Will def be back.

Great food and beautiful staff. We had the Scottish mussels, chicken cajun burger, the steak sandwich special and the steak pie. It was absolutely fantastic. My chicken cajun burger was surprisingly good, as it's usually battered, this one was grilled chicken and it's the best one I've had so far!

We visited early August 2024 with family. All of the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Our server (Lucia) even made an extra effort to see if the kitchen could provide anything additional for our vegan diets. Which the kitchen kindly did. We had an option of approximately 6 dishes and chose the Veggie Haggis Nachos (Vegan) and Roasted Mediterranean Veg Pasta (see photos) They were both delicious! The pasta was definitely the highlight. Our family members got the Fish & Chips, Caesar Salad and Burgers and were really happy with the quality, taste and portion sizes of their meals :) A brilliant visit! We'll defo be back! Phoned to book a table but found this hadn’t been put in the book when we arrived. No problem though, we were seated straightaway as the restaurant wasn’t very busy at that time (6pm) although it did get busier from about 7pm. After perusing the menu we chose two starters to share, the bruschetta and the honey bbq boneless chicken bites. The food arrived within a short time frame and whilst both were delicious, the chicken bites were out of this world. I would’ve had them for my main as well if it had been an option they were that good. However as I’d already chosen, the recommended roast dinner it was. When the beef arrived it was not like your usual thin slices of beef, these were thick chunky slices of braised beef served with carrots, tenderstem broccoli, mashed and roast potatoes and the obligatory yorkie. It was absolutely delicious, my only two minor gripes being the yorkie was shop bought (or appeared to be) and let the side down as wasn’t particularly appetising and there was only one roast potato. Also the gravy was more of a jus type than thick gravy but was flavoursome and plenty of it. Dessert was chocolate brownie which I had with pouring cream whilst hubby had the ice cream sundae. Again couldn’t fault it though a bigger portion of brownie wouldn’t have gone amiss! Two 3 course meals, a pint and 3 large wines came to just over £80 and was well worth every penny. The meal was made even more enjoyable by the fantastic service provided by the friendly, efficient waitress. We will definitely visit again if back that way.

A great wee historic pub. We came in here for a drink and a rest before catching the ferry. Saturday evening live music and a clean cosy atmosphere. A great place for locals and visitors alike.

Ordered a stake pie, and I have been given tiny kids portion. Complained to the staff and nothing has been done about it. Been told that this was an adult portion, my niece received a bit bigger portion as kids portion. Staff absolutely clueless what is happening.

Had lovely meal today, Sunday roast is massive. Nice staff. Will return

Nice bar with excellent friendly chatty staff. Nice outside deck overlooking the water excellent on a sunny day. Food is always delicious, on this occasion We had the steak sandwich mouthwatering good.

Pub setting with OK food. Good atmosphere. Very casual service. There are not alot of choices in Dunoon and Tryst is fine if your expectations are low.

Welcoming and friendly staff. Warm and comfortable settin. Very decent burger and cocktail. Steak pie could have had thicker gravy but other wise good quality and presentation. Definitely worth a visit.

The service in here was terrible, staff were all dour faced ,waited 1 hour on just our main meal , didn't even acknowledge us when we got our food to see if the food was even OK, the roast dinner that we got was terrible one carrot on the plate and when asked for additional gravy we got told they had ran out ,what kind of chef cant make gravy ,tried sitting disabled mother in law up the stairs even though they had tables down the stairs and we pre booked 2 weeks in advance ,when asked if service was OK and we said no , we were given a dirty look and walked away. We asked for burger in kids meal which was accepted by the girl staff member with the plait ,when we got the bill the kids meal was put through as an adult meal , the coffee we asked for was had spilled and more coffee on the plait than in the cup ,would of put no stars if I could of , staff need to learn to put a smile on there face

Very clean and modern restaurant in Dunoon. Easy Parking, good food and polite friendly staff. Just a sandwich and fish and chips but well worth a visit

A very big thank you for organising a special birthday party. Staff were excellent but praise for chef David Carson who went over and above with help and not to mention his fabulous cooking nothing is ever a problem for him if food needs to be adapted. Fish n chips was a big hit fish was huge no skimpy portion anywhere it was a table of 12 all food served at one time and piping hot which doesnt happen in other local restaurants I might add. You all made a terminally ill family member proud your a star.

Lovely meal last night at Tryst - haven't been for ages and that's been a mistake. Can't fault food at all, fresh and tasty and served by very welcoming staff. Cocktails were lovely as well, very impressed. Not to be missed and we'll definitely be back.

Good food but the restaurant lacks atmosphere.

The food is very high quality. Very good service and friendly staff. Nicely served fresh drinks and the food comes very beautifully prepared. Atmosphere is very good. The good ol chatter of people in a bar and the soft lighting. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Went with my partner on 18th November Food was amazing quike service staff lovely and friendly lovely and clean we were upstairs and we have booked for Christmas Dinner can't wait .only one wee down fall it was a bit cold heating wasn't on where we were sitting draft coming from the window other than that would definitely recommend 👌 hopefully we be sitting downstairs for Christmas 🎄 Dinner 🍽 😀chef 👩‍🍳 is amazing 👏

Popped in early evening to have a drink with a view to checking the place out for lunch the following day. However the customer service left us thinking we're not going back!!. The place was completely empty so we went to take a seat in a comfy corner with no "reserved" notice on the table. Only to be shouted at - "you cant sit there"!! - "sit at the high table"!! Really?? - we're in our sixties and would like to have a bit of comfort and there's nobody here anyway!. The drinks were the most expensive we have encountered in the town and to add insult to injury my husbands bottle beer was served in a Tennent's pint glass?? The place is beautifully decorated, the menu looked good but we're not paying top dollar prices to be treated with such disdain so unfortunately we wont be back.

A last minute and late booking after coming down off the hills, but Billie gave us a table and provided excellent service. The scampi both delicious and humungous. All in all so good we returned the next night.

Had a very late lunch (early dinner?) here. Fabulous food. Reasonably priced. Great portion sizes, especially the haddock and chips. The decent fish was hiding more than half of the portion of chips. Loved the decor. Dog friendly. The booths are great to keep our dog away from others.

Second time to the Tryst, first time was a phenomenal evening meal to celebrate a birthday. Fantastic seafood, great meats and friendly service. Today we went back, tired and exhausted having travelled up to find our holiday home in Stratheck Holiday park washed away. A good brunch was needed and provided, with the most amazing gesture being to ask nothing for it given the circumstances. Great food, great drinks, great hospitality and humanity! What more can you ask for.

My daughters and I went for cocktails and dinner whilst visiting Dunoon. It was a lovely gem of a find. Cocktails were plentiful choice and variety and well made, dinner was much better than anticipated. Menu online is good but there was a full page of specials mostly seafood (we are all fans). Everything was delicious, hot well presented and generous portions. Scallops, langoustines and mussels were the selections we made. Yum. A small but decent and not too pricy wine list was perused and a very nice NZ Sauvignon Blanc rounded off our choices. No puddings - we were too full but a leisurely few more drinks with lovely staff taking orders from our table and we were made to feel very welcome to stay all evening in our comfy booth if we wanted. 10/10 if you are in the area well worth a visit.

What a lovely restaurant. First time visit and definitely won't be the last. Staff extremely pleasant and attentive. Food was just lovely, quality and plenty of it. Not over the top price wise.

Being foodies we decided to try this little place and wow ! Best place we've eaten in such a long while. Seafood was gorgeous (tempura prawns, hake with muscles and dressed crab) and ham croquetta starter too .... then we went through the 🍸 list ..... lovely attentive staff - would love them to consider adding scallops and or goats cheese to the starters and cheese board and a creme brulee to the deserts menu but either way we will definitely be back ! THANK YOU !!

Tryst has definitely improved over the last year. The food was excellent with a good range of starters and main courses. Well cooked and presented too. The smoked haddock chowder was really good as was the chicken in tempura batter which came with a tasty salad. Mains were steak pie and chicken tryst cooked perfectly all served with a nice selection of garden veg and creamy mash. The service was also outstanding. All the staff were very good and friendly but a special shout out to Billy. It was busy but he coped so well. He is Billy the brilliant, front of house supremo. Friendly, fast, attentive and efficient. Great service can make or break a place and the Tryst staff make it along with great food from the chef. We will spread the word.

Started with drinks on the terrace. It was a beautiful evening and the view of the city and river from there was spectacular! Had lovely dinners, all with locally sourced produce. We finished the meal off with the restaurant's signature cocktail! An excellent venue for that extra special occasion!!

Accepted our request for an on spec table for seven on a Saturday lunchtime without a quibble. Prompt drinks service followed by delicious meal. Wide menu, allowing for the focus on local produce, attractively presented. Would recommend it for a lunch.

BBQ eve at the Tryst... Completely delicious. Sardines, Mackerel and Sea Bass plus unlimited sides, all of which were really unique and tasty. And all for £15! Amazing value... And the staff were just lovely. Really friendly and chatty. Highly recommend 😍😍😍

A must visit for food and drink whilst in Dunoon. There is an outdoor seating area ( look out for your drinks as the wooden tables are a bit uneven) and plenty of indoor seating if the weather is inclement. The food is first class,and the drinks are on par with similar establishments in the area. The staff were polite, prompt, and well presented.

Stopped in here with friends for a bite to eat and some cocktails. Food was amazing, we just has some starters between us and the ham croquettes were to die for. Fresh made cocktails were really good and plenty to choose from. Roof terrace was open as it was a nice day and seating available inside on 2 levels. Toilets downstairs were clean and well kept. When in Dunoon go here if you can as the staff are brilliant aswell.

Booked for three generations of family for dinner on Thursday 6th April. Everyone really enjoyed their meal, very good choices on menu, excellent service from lovely staff. Apparently a new chef had started the previous day. Highly recommended.

We just had a meal in Trust for the first time this evening. Absolutely perfect, great service, really nice environment to enjoy a meal, the service was excellent and the food was stunning. Pleasant staff nice surroundings and lovely food.

This is a good restaurant with excellent service and quality food at reasonable prices. This was the first time visiting this restaurant and will without question be back for more. Varied menu with a good choice of starters and mains. Nice spacious restaurant, clean and good atmosphere made this a very pleasant dining experience. Would highly recommend a visit.
