Park Hotel in Argyll & Bute

From the outside Park Hotel looked ok,did wonder why all the windows were open? Became apparent when we entered the hotel as there was a smell ,there is a fish tank just as you enter ,good luck seeing the fish as it is green with algae poor fish! Friendly greeting upon check in ,then asked to pay AGAIN for room which was already paid for! We were given our keys room 21 ,walking up to room mis matched carpet ,radiator patched up and painted over ,very rough .Room was smelly ,dirty and mouldy very tired decor😞not what I would expect for £105 a night room (well overpriced) ,couldn't see out of the window for condensation ,dirt and mouldy!!! Toilet dirty and mouldy, in need of a refurb.i was so disgusted we checked out 20 min later after speaking to person on front desk,kitchen and bar sorry as it was the same person doing everything.,he could offer me no explanation as to why room was so bad . checked out very upset and angry .I have left this with my travel agent to pursue a total refund ,please do not waste your money on this hotel .

The staff are lovely, the breakfasts are great. It’s very clean. The hotel is tired and in need of maintenance. Outside there’s tacky lighting which illuminates it in changing colours. The rooms are tiny, windows mouldy or rotting. The bathroom was way past needing updating; plug didn’t fit the sink, hot tap was broken and wouldn’t turn off. Generally past it! No one made up our room either time we’ve stayed - beds not made up, no clean cups or replenishing of the teas. At £120 a night it’s way overpriced. We won’t be back.

Had a lovely stay at the Park Hotel the rooms are small but clean and the en-suite was spotless with a nice walk in shower the breakfast was superb and the staff are so polite and accommodating would definitely recommend this hotel and we will come back here again 👍👌

had dinner here, great service, creative presentation and excellent food! I had the nachos for a starter and the beef stroganoff for my main. the beef was especially good and tender with a great sauce.

Stayed this weekend with husband and three small dogs . Lovely welcome to all of us .. room was good size and ideal with the dogs. Breakfast was amazing locally sourced food and ample portions of it . Staff were very friendly and helpful

We visited for the first night of our Scotland road trip, although the restaurant wasn’t open it wasn’t a problem as we visited the Lorne Restaurant on Dunoon. The hotel check in was good, very friendly and quick, room was good and nice and warm. The breakfast was perfect, full Scottish, probably the best of our trip, well worth the money and highly recommended, a massive well done guys.

Stayed here for 2 nights, the staff were amazing, made sure you felt at ease. Room was spotless, breakfast was good, had dinner 1 dinner steaks were cooked to perfection. Hotel adhered to covid rules. Will defo be back.

Its was disgusting because Hello,There was not enough to go round so <the we waited> and I watched and witnessed as our first meal in scotland that I had remembered fondly with love from my childhood was surved to our table,some Brussel sprouts with gravy and some with no gravy or no Brussel sprouts at all ,The whole place from greenock to our destination was so dismall I fellt I had stepped back to the 1950s The one beautifull thing I remenber about Coming here ,Is the Ferry,it Is the \\\\\\\\\\Most important part of life in the peninsula.

A night away for ourselves from the daily problems. Lovely staff great rooms and food. Not overly expensive. Handy for promenade walk. Definietly go back.

The room was very tidy, lots of room and the bath - facilities very good - bath like a hot hub with really good bubble machine. I had breakfast only and was impressed. The local amenities including awesome fish n chip shop in walking distance, superior end. Parking was free, on the street in a non busy area. The impressive thing for customer care in mind was that I left some items in the room. I telephoned and within week I had my belongings back in the post. I will be back - look forward to it...

We needed to stay in Dunoon for three nights and chose the Park hotel. It turned out to be a good choice.The staff were very helpful and carried our bags on arrival and when leaving. The room was small but adequate , it had all we needed even a view towards the sea. The bed was comfortable and a good height ( Guests with back problems - No need to struggle). The breakfast was very good with a lot of choices. The service was prompt and courteous. All in all it was a very pleasant quiet stay and we would go again

Arrived at the park Hotel in dunoon ready to attend the cowle games, the hotel is not the Ritz which I am glad, nice friendly welcome at reception, carried our bags to our room, the room was very nice and just perfect for our needs, after the games we returned to the hotel for a night cap in the nice bar, met other guests for a chat, very nice, the breakfast menu is brilliant, the norm full Scottish with the added luxury of smoked salmon, haddock with poached eggs, the breakfast was excellent, would recommend this hotel, thanks to the staff, lastly. I left my wedding ring in the room, phoned the park Hotel, the ring was found and posted to me next day, all happy, thanks for that, beginning to wish I left a bigger tip, at ease steady boy steady don't get carried away.

Alles in allem eine gute Unterkunft. Service war super. Das Frühstück absolut gut. Eine kleine Bar wo man sich auch verweilen kann. Die Zimmer klein aber zweckmäßig und bequem.

Stayed at this hotel overnight from Sunday to Monday 5/6 May 2019 . The hotel was lovely and clean and the rooms were really nice. Our window overlooked the Firth of Clyde and the bathroom was clean and had a shower cubicle. We ate dinner at the hotel and it was excellent with a wide variety of choices. They also had a bar to sit in while waiting on your table. Rasheed checked us in, showed us to our room, serves us at the bar and in the restaurant and was very attentive. We had a good night sleep and the breakfast in the morning was fabulous . You had choices of cereal ,fruit juices, yoghurt, or a full scottish breakfast which we had with toast and a pot of tea and coffee. There were various other breakfast choices. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it

Check in as sleek as can be. Shown to our room by staff a nice touch. Room a good size. If you want to look close or stay open minded. Taking into consideration £59 with breakfast. You will then bypass the lack of perfection in your room. Beds are comfortable. Pillows..this is a personal choice by people but a bit lumpy. Bathroom is nearly perfect. Showers are a bit dated but spotless. In fact the room was extremely clean especially the bathroom. I found the sofa should be ditched and perhaps a few tub chairs and a table at the window would be a welcomed addition. The furniture is tired. Well used. But in saying this you dont want for anything. You have more tea. Coffee. Milk than you would get in any well known establishment. You have an owner and staff who actually cares and does everything in her power to help you while staying here. The breakfast ...I have to say was an excellent surprise. There is so much choice and much more again than you would be offered in any well known establishments. The service with that is prompt courteous and of a high standard. Coffee is fresh served in a cafetiere. At breakfast I commented on the variety. The condiments and the thought put into this and wondered how any profit could be made. It was of a 4 star standard. Best sausages I have ever had in a hotel. Unfortunately for us Dunoon is not a place we would ever return. BUT if you are there. £3.20 in a taxi gets you into the main street from the Park Hotel if like us you hate walking in the rain. The menu for.an evening meal looks great and if the breakfast is anything to go by. I do not think you will be disappointed. I wish the owner and staff of the park hotel every success for their future.

My other half booked at the last minute for one night over the Cowl Gathering weekend, reckon they doubled the rate for that very reason as it certainly wasn't worth the money we paid. That aside, the staff were pleasant and welcoming, allowing us to check in early. The room was small, too small for a wardrobe. The bathroom was a fair size and had one of the best showers I've ever used. We opted to eat out but the dinner menu looked good and value for money. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of hot and cold food. I would recommend this hotel...........but not at the price we paid.

A nice Hotel with good staff. its a bit of a walk from the town .. but its a pleasant walk. They have a small pleasant bar .. and breakfast / dining area. the breakfast was adequate. The rooms were clean . and comfortable . the shower was a bit run down . but thats a small quibble. overall a good value Hotel

2 night midweek break with our daughters coming on 2nd night with grandson and baby granddaughter. Staff could not have been more helpful moving tables to accommodate us and considering space for the baby. Dining room is small and can't imagine what breakfast is like when hotel is full. Breakfast and dinner were delightful. Food well cooked and presented. Small but adequate menu with a choice for all. Our double room was small but adequate and the girls room upstairs was wonderful as a family room.

Myself and my partner had a one night stay recently. It was a rainy Monday and whilst there wasn't much to do in Dunoon at night, I can't fault the hotel. Our host, Dan, was very engaging and attentive. The food (evening meal & breakfast) was amazing, proper traditional home cooked food. Room was small but adequate and bed was really comfy. Highly recommend a stay here.

I stayed here with my family at the end of May / beginning of June 2018. The room was clean and large with comfy beds. The bathroom was a little tired but very clean. The best thing about the hotel was the amazing staff that worked there, in particular one member of staff who served all our meals and manned the reception desk, I'm not sure of his name but he was so friendly, helpful and hard working. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel on both days and the food was top quality, reasonably priced, and absolutely delicious. The portions were very generous too. There's a really good play area for kids directly opposite the hotel and plenty of on street parking and access to a large car park round the corner. Thank you to the excellent team at the Park Hotel for making our visit so comfortable!

Good standard and quality of food - well presented and served. The menu has a fair selection to cover most tastes.

We booked 4 rooms as we were attending a wedding. On our arrival we checked in and were shown to our rooms and offered to take our luggage up to our rooms for us. Nowadays most hotels just give you the key and told how to get there (that includes 4/5 star hotels).

nothing fantastic, plenty of choice though, quiet bar if you want a drink but it does close early if no one is around

Nice hotel and nice food. Clean and fresh decor and nice staff. It is just a 3 minute walk to the sea front and a nice 10mins walk to the town.

No complaints here only good comments. I had the best beef stroganoff ever. the steak was also very good and cooked to perfection.

Hotel management and staff are of the excellent variety. Certainly can't be faulted for its food both portion size and range of courses. Rooms are all spacious and warm. Some rooms have sea view but not all. Quiet location out of town.

Just back from our 5th stay at this fabulous hotel, great family run hotel very clean and comfortable rooms with super friendly and helpful staff on hand to help with anything you need and the food is simply amazing can highly recommend the Park hotel to other travellers

Situated opposite the Bay of Dunoon, lovely family run hotel. Great service, excellent value, amazing suite...Very clean. Wonderful choices at breakfast time. Good meal menu. Worth staying here.

Over to Dunoon for 2 days while decorating getting done so not looking for a costly break used our concession ticket got bus to Buchanan St bus station then Mc Gills bus straight to Dunoon over on ferry absolutely no cost Booked the Park Hotel as all big hotels fully booked however were we glad that happened as this Hotel was indeed" a little gem"the staff were very polite and accomodating the room was clean and decor and furnishings in good taste the breakfast was excellent with choices which we have not had in more expensive hotels( scrabbled eggs with smoked salmon,smoked haddock with poached eggs and full scottish breakfast ) dinner again food good restaurant quality and priced very reasonable 2 steaks for £30 with all the trimmings and presentation top class very near town center nice walk along sea front about 20 mins for us at slow pacenice friendly comfortable well stocked bar.Dinning area and bar area had some traditional scottish features but very tastefulDunoon is a small seaside town not a lot to do except if you take bus (for nothing if concession) or drive to places around .Nice senery and walks if able to do Blacks of Dunoon great home bakery tearoom quick service and good prices Clansman Pub nice friendly pub again good prices

Had a couple of nights here for our anniversary, the room was very comfortable the food and service was wonderful and the staff were absolutely amazing they could not do enough for you.We will definitely be back for more very relaxing weekends.

We had a lovely relaxing stay. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was excellent with plenty of choice. as I have a dairy free diet the chef produced appropriate food for my needs. Perfect stay in every way. We will return.

Breakfasts were traditional Scottish fare and there was plenty of choice. Although there was no vegetarian options on the evening menu, the chef offered choices which were specially prepared.

We have stayed in many hotels both here and abroad but we must say the staff at The Park Hotel are the most helpful and friendly that we have ever experienced. This is a small private hotel with views over the Clyde Estuary.The hotel is very clean and the food is excellent, the breakfast is cooked to order and is served at your table, a nice change from the normal buffet. We stayed in the Ben Mhor suit and the small extra cost was well worth it. The was not WFI in the bedroom but it was available for free in the lounge/ bar area, you need to ask for the pass code. If you are looking for a small friendly hotel in Dunoon I can recommend The Park Royal Dunoon.

Room nice and spacious, excellent breakfast and evening meal, staff cannot do enough to help, would recommend to anyone looking for a base to stay while visiting Argyll

Stayed for 1 night only but would have enjoyed staying longer. We had a warm room with amazing views to the sea and really comfortable bed to sleep in and that was exactly what we needed. Really good value for money with Scottish Breakfast included and a small continental buffet. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, gave us directions for what we wanted to know. If visiting Dunoon again will definitely stay here.

would highly recommend this very clean,friendy hotel. owners and staff very friendly and helpful, nothing is to much bother for them. rooms are spotless although some shower cubicals were quite small. food was very good,service excellent,view,s very nice. quiet area but not far to shops. and lovely area for nice walks, we will definately be going back

The best dinner my wife and I have had this holiday. The food was absolutely superb, we had one of the best steak pie ever. Good staff, cold beer, nice selection of malt whiskey (good prices)

Excellent food and service. The food was delicious and had good presentation. Staff friendly and efficient with very busy restaurant and bar upstairs.

Good food served by friendly staff who could want more. The Park hotel is directly opposite the children swing park in Dunoon and is very handy for hungry kids. You won't be disappointed as theres a large selection from the lunch menu to pick from. I you don't find something on it you like then theres something wrong with you.

Comfortable clean and a good room size, lovely view of the sea and not very noisy even though we were at the front of the hotel

Arrived at the park hotel Dunoon and first impressions from the outside were not good inside didn't do much to change our impressions until we met Roddy the receptionist/porter/concierge/waiter/barman/ and probably anything else you would want him to be. Roddy checked us in carried our luggage and showed us to our room which was large and spacious and on first impressions looked clean. We opted to eat in the hotel and Roddy set a table for us in the restaurant. The menu was basic with no vegetarian option but Roddy spoke with the chef who made a very good veggie lasagne for my daughter. The rest of our meals were good and reasonably priced. We moved into the small bar where Roddy our excellent host chatted with us and the other guests while serving us drinks and recommending things to do while in Argyle. When we returned to our room we realised things were not as good as we thought when my wife found some unidentified foreign objects in the bed and the room was not as clean as first thought. Breakfast wasn't great the bacon was really tough the eggs greasy and the coffee awful but the toast was good. Gave this hotel an average rating because of Roddys excellent hospitality had not been for him it would be poor at best.

We were 3 Coach Drivers booked out from another large local Hotel.The reception we received was warm and friendly, we were giving are rooms and settled in the rooms although small give the impression of space, immaculately presented, with everything you need, en-suite shower would blow you away, amazing pressure ( I didn't want to get out )The Staff were cheery and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable.Unfortunatly we didn't eat there but seeing the menu and the food being served to other guests It all looked prefect, and empty plates returning to the kitchens say's it all.If your looking for a small comfortable Hotel in Dunoon, you couldn't do much better than 'The Park Hotel'

Went with friends, had a lovely meal, homemade salmon quiche and for dessert had a homemade apple tart with cream, was delicious,good portions and great value for money, will be back

Friends recommended the park hotel for dinner, was not disappointed at all. Food very very good, the best I've eaten in Dunoon and I've been to every restaurant in Dunoon. Leek and potato soup was to die for as was the pork belly my partner had, mains we had fish and chips and steak pie, followed by lemon cheesecake to share. Simple food cooked to perfection. Can't wait till our next visit to Dunoon to sample the rest of the menu.PJ
