Yes off the beaten track but well worth it

What a fantastic find, very dog friendly and brilliant seafood, lovely fire which made the place so cosy, even provided dog treats 5 star, would deffo recommend after lovely walk with dogs x

Popped in for lunch. Service was great, food was superb. Chicken pie was great but portion may be a bit big for some people. It’s unusual my son gets stumped.

Beachfront gluten free fish and chips! The owners did them for us to takeaway since we just missed the end of food service at 2pm. Such lovely place, glorious in good weather.

Such a fan of this restaurant… they are doing everything right, in my book. The menu and food were sublime. The service was welcoming and attentive. The setting was spacious and, with our young family, we were pleased to have space and not to disturb other diners. And the location, of course, is incredible.

Can’t comment on quality as they were closed all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday because they had a wedding booked. I was told they “might” be open Wednesday. There was no signage outside, and their web page said they were open. I only found this out because I entered the pub by a non public entrance, no one being polite enough to acknowledge my presence outside. They don’t deserve custom. Unless you’re a wedding party that is 😤 Hi Thanks for the response to my review, I feel I now have a right to reply. Firstly I left a review because I was upset that I hadn’t been able to eat or drink there. Secondly, I don’t do social media, I merely looked for you on Google, and if you care to check, it says you are open today. I’m in no doubt wedding parties do have a marvellous time, who couldn’t in such a marvellous location, I just don’t understand why you can’t pull a pint at the same time as you prep the wedding. I could appreciate the kitchen being closed, but how much effort to serve drinks. I didn’t arrive from the road, so I didn’t see your car park sign, and I certainly didn’t notice any closed signs on the door, but then I wasn’t looking for any, why would I. I looked for someone outside, but everyone seemed to be busy, obviously too busy to notice anyone walking around looking thirsty. Lastly, I must be remarkably unlucky, because I was here 2 years ago, and guess what, you were closed for a wedding party then as well. I did look on Google before we came this time, and was delighted to see you were open, and was looking forward to numerous visits for lunchtime drinks and the occasional meals, hence my disappointment and review. One last point, in the time it’s taken for you to read and respond to my review, and no doubt this one, you could have poured me a beer, I’m sure it would have been great. Cheers. Steve.

Exceptional place in a fantastic peaceful location, with amazing service and… the best seafood. Mussels, oysters.. everything was amazing.

Extremely disappointed as we got there, it was closed - Having tried to book via email, phone and left vm. We drove 2 hours to get there to find a sign on the door that there was staff shortage due to Covid. We'd checked social media before we left . My dad had also driven there in the last year or so and it was also closed. Bumped into a few locals who said this was a common occurrence. So disappointed

The location is without doubt beautiful on a lovely sunny evening as the sun goes down across the Loch. We arrived by chance on the NRLI Open Day, which was busy, and we enjoyed an excellent pint of Fyne Highlander. We booked a table for 2 the following Wednesday evening (closed Mon/Tues); my last meal was 45 years ago, and I was looking forward to this return visit a great deal. Frankly, the meal wasn't great, nowhere near as most reviews. I had the rump steak, which was very tender, but not great on flavour. The roast shallots were nice, and the chips were pretty average and not quite hot enough. My wife chose the roasted cod, with wilted spinach and small cubes of potato. It was only luke warm, so we asked for it to be heated up. Whilst I was eating my steak, the waitress came back to say that the chef would prepare a new one. After I had finished my steak, the cod came back, it seemed to be the same one, so it was a puzzle why it took 20 minutes to reheat. The fish was tasteless and lacked texture, and the spinach was hardly visible. Not being impressed, we decided to skip puddings. The Fyne beer was excellent, the Sauvignon was very average, and tasted a bit more like Chardonnay. The pub itself is rustic, not many tables inside (plenty outside), and the staff were pleasant. When we asked for the bill, I asked if there might be an adjustment made for the situation with the cod, and they kindly knocked it off the bill completely, so full marks on this! As we left, another couple we had been chatting with initimated that their meal had been a little under par. This is a fabulous pub, in a lovely quiet location, only working 5 days per week, I just hope it survives, helped by the offer of better, hotter food.

We used their visiting moorings overnight and went for lunch the next day! Some of the most intriguing and best Scallops I have had, fish and chip was lovely and overall we loved the beautiful scenery and cosy restaurant 😃 The moorings were easy to find and pay for, and felt secure! The view was stunning on the calm sunny day we had. The floating pontoon for our dinghy made it a breeze to go in for a walk and for lunch at the Oystercatcher 😊

Food was excellent, can't wait to get back 😋 again.

We have visited the oystercatcher a few times, and fell in love with the location, decor and food! We reached out to Phoebe to discuss holding our day two wedding celebrations. The team were amazingly helpful and flexible and were options for our canapes / drinks / timings etc. We had about 25 guests arrive on a sunny Sunday and we were absolutely bowled over by the quality of food, organisation and the amazing views. Our guest all commented on how much they enjoyed the food and Phoebe was so helpful and flexible to manage a restocking of the food (it went so quickly!) Beautiful location, very tastefully decorated venue. Loads of tables - both indoor and outside on a terrace over-looking the moorings. Food was excellent both in terms of presentation and flavours. Staff were appropriately attentive without being too pushy. A lovely lunch time dining experience.

Visited on a sunny Friday evening. Beautiful views straight onto beach. Place was busy including outside seating. We had booked a table in advance and were seated in a separate area with just one other couple. Was slightly lacking in ambience there and a bit like we were going for dinner with them. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was good although the venison and mash (probably should have ordered fish) was flooded in a very very rich jus. Oysters and mackerel pate starters lovely. Reasonable selection of nonalcoholic beverages/beers. Beautiful walk along the beach afterwards.

Lovely place for a bite to eat and drink. View is spectacular.

On arrival we found that this place gets fully booked regularly however the staff we're very pleasant and sympathetic offering take away fish and chips which was pretty damn good 👍🏼. We had a great pint of local beer sat next to the fire while waiting for our order which came in no time. Oystercatcher saved the day.

We had a really fabulous meal here for our family. The service was great, food was delicious and options were good with hearty portions. Thoroughly enjoyed this lunch and would recommend.

We shared some exquisite langoustine with fries, along with a fabulous wine and a beer. Delicious all round, great hosts and a warm atmosphere.

Haven't been for a few years but it used to be a fabulous restaurant and pub, in a stunning location. Always wanted to go back some day. We stayed at Meldalloch lodges a few miles times but they tended to accommodate more to the Dutch as the years went on. Our last stay was probably around late 1990s.

Got takeaway meals and they were excellent, great service from friendly helpful staff!

What a magical place. It has the atmosphere of a cosy pub, but the food is absolutely excellent. We had the roast cod which was caught in Loch Fyne, and it was one of the best fish dishes we've tried. The langoustines were also really fresh and tasty in the garlic sauce. It's a bit off the beaten track but totally worth the detour. The service is really friendly too. It's advisable to book ahead if you're dining.

We sat outside for lunch. Sunny and warm and a view to die for. Lovely staff, service polite and friendly. The best coffee too!

Delicious food! The Loch fyne soup is ridiculously good, amd the seafood is the best in the area. Great wine menu and local beers (try the Workbench!) Fantastic service from lovely staff. Beautiful venue in a stunning setting. Book in advance.

There incredible moments we all encounter in life and for me, it was an an amazing experience I and my cyclist buddy had at this beautiful restaurant. The fabulous manager phoebe with wonderful customer care welcomed us, asked us about our fundraising ride. Moments later, she donated to us on top of giving us free classy drinks. What a fabulous generous human being you are phoebe! And the mussels I ended up ordering were so tasty. Thank you so much and will make it habit to come over every time I holiday at home in Glen massen.

Went for lunch yesterday. Have wanted to go for so long to this hidden gem. The weather really helped and we sat outside in the sun. The food was fabulous, I had the burger which was brilliant, and other diners had the langoustines and mussels which looked fantastic too. The service was prompt and the staff were very helpful. I would recommend this to anyone in this part of the world but make sure you book in advance as spaces for dining are limited. Thank you very much, I will be back.

We came here on our last day in Scotland. What a find! Great little family restaurant, if you want great service and fantastic local food stop here. My wife and I had great fun picking down crab claws, served with a homemade sweet chilli. I missed out on the half lobster but it sounded like a winner. We were both a bit shocked by the price, considering the quality of the ingredients and where they are in the world, we expected to pay more. Fantastic value for money. If we ever find ourselves back here, we're booking a table straight away.

What a brilliant find!!! We stumbled across this lovely pub and restaurant after a dog walk! Fabulous welcoming staff, service and the shellfish 🦐 was amazing!! We had the local langoustines, mussels and hake, all first class!!!

We had dinner here last week, I had the lamb kofta and the halibut, both of which were excellent. After dinner we had a nice chat and a nightcap with the owner, her sister and the delightful trio of Stitch, Leelo & Copper, great evening with fantastic company.

Although the food i had was excellent (oysters then a ribeye) I was disappointed when told there was no lobster left only for someone that arrived around 30mins after me get lobster. Would've been good to know you can pre-order when booking to save on the disappointment. I also had fish and chips takeaway (I was there for the weekend in the adjoining bothies) which was also excellent. Nice fresh fillets in a tasty crispy batter with real chips.

We had a delightful visit to the Oystercatcher this week. Booking ahead is advisable as it was busy on Thursday lunchtime. The staff were helpful and attentive. My husband enjoyed the brown crab and I had the mussels. We both loved the smoked mackerel patè starter. It's quite a drive to find this gem but we happily make a return visit.

Sorry it wasn’t as nice as we had thought it was going to be. We went about 15 years ago ok could of changed hands in that time . My husband had mussels in a tomato sauce. It was basically mussels with a tin of chopped tomatoes and half of the mussels weren’t open so very disappointed I had steak which must have had 10 cloves of garlic on top of it no sauces just the garlic butter chips and salad. I was expecting lots more seafood dishes than there was. Last time we went we had a seafood platter in like a beautiful bisque with fish and prawns mussels you name it. Not this time. We also had a scallops starter at 11 pound and you got 2 not very big scallops with mushy peas. Out look very nice.

Food, service, view, all excellent... made better by the weather. Very dog friendly outside with plenty of space between tables, water bowls dotted around and plenty of grass and beach to go for a run on. Perfect lunch... thanks!

Parking metres away. What a Beautiful hidden Scottish bay. You find yourself walking into this stunning location of the Oyster Catcher... Ample seating indoor and outdoor! Greeted with a traditional Scottish bar, serving an ary of Scottish whiskeys ,gins, beers, IPA and more... You'll find the staff as warm and welcoming as the location. We found ourselves planning our next visit way before we left.

Two of us got here about 3.15pm last weekend (it's now Thursday evening so 'have had time to calm down & write a calculated review!) When we arrived, we made it relatively (although not positively) clear to the (unhelpful) Bar-chap that we would like to have a few nice big seafood meals. He spent the whole time though ... arranging flowers!! (no... I'm serious!). We ordered and paid for two overpriced drinks and asked for a menu, only to be informed that.. the kitchen closed at 3pm! We had to enquire (as the chappie did not inform us) when the kitchen would be open again (I'm sorry ... we thought this was a Restaurant!?!) to be informed ... 6pm... Ok.. Now, we've been around the World... a lot... and eaten in the finest restaurants.. but never have I had to really and truly think to myself .. "Did he really say that?" That is to say, upon informing us that we could not have (in a Restaurant?!) a meal .... the Bar person (I think it was a Bar - difficult to tell as the beers seemed more like almost alcohol-free stuff!) informed that we could have .... wait for it....NO... wait..... . a..... pastry .. or (wait!) ..... a packet of crisps!!!! What?... WHAT?!! I have many analogy-type scenarios for this, but shall use just the first to come in to my head... One goes in to an Estate Agents and say's... "I'd like to buy a nice big 5-bedroom house please... for about £999,000". The Estate Agent says .... "Sorry... we don't have any matching this criterion ... but we have a small, one bedroom flat for £35,000 if that would suit"!!!! 'Would like to review the food, but as they don't appear to serve food at 'normal' times during the height of Summer... that's not possible really...!

I have just eaten the best crab EVER. On a beautiful day by Loch Fyne, you can't beat the Oystercatcher for a wonderful lunch overlooking the loch, the little yachts coming and going, the oystercatchers peeping, the sun shining on the water and on you - and the chef! I love crab but rarely have I seen such a dish as I was presented with. The crab had been split in two so that its claws lay in layers, all nestling in a delicious chilli and ginger soup-sauce (almost like a crab bouillabaisse). Provided with the implements I set to and an hour or so later I put down the claw-crackers, pointy thing, and my fork, utterly satisfied with one of the greatest crab meals I've ever tasted. 6 of us visited here for lunch one Saturday recently. We were staying near by at Kilfinnan and arranged a taxi from Tighnabruaich to collect us and take us there.

Went there for lunch on a Saturday and it was probably the best pub food I've ever had. The mussels were fresh and very tasty. The lentil soup had bags of flavour (and even slightly spicy) and the home made bread was outstanding. The beer selection is very good and the staff is very friendly. I would wholeheartedly recommend it!

A meal at this cosy restaurant is well worth the trip! Set on the shore of Loch Fyne, it is a lovely place to watch the sunset on a summer evening. It’s also great in the winter, perfect for a weekend lunch...if you’re lucky, you can sit at one of the tables by the open fire! The food is exquisitely prepared with seasonal local fare, and always fresh. And their homemade ice cream is to die for! You won’t be disappointed!

Not your average lochside pub! Truly superb fresh seafood. Mussels, boullabaisse. Great local beers on tap. Incredible location with an old stone pier covered in happy oystercatchers.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the summer, but we recently discovered that it's every bit as good in the autumn/winter months, and much easier to get a table! We were there yesterday with a visiting friend, and had a delicious late Sunday afternoon meal, sitting by a welcoming fire. Perfect for a soggy Scottish day! My husband and I both had our usual mackerel pate starter, which is always really, really delicious and served with a big chunk of toasted homemade bread. Our friend had a bowl of Cullen Skink which he said was wonderful. The two guys had a game bird stew on mash for their mains, and I had a bowl of root vegetable soup....all of us were very happy, and unfortunately too full to attempt one of the desserts on offer (I can attest to how rich, creamy and delicious their homemade ice creams are though, from previous visits!). Try this place! It's a bit out of the way, but the surrounding area is beautiful and the restaurant's setting is gorgeous. This is healthy, satisfying, and abundant comfort food....you won't regret going the extra mile!

Stumbled across The Oystercatcher on a mini adventure in our camper. Luckily, the sign at the end of the road said Lochside pub - and you can't get more Lochside that this!

Well worth taking the 6 mile single track road, even in the rain. The Pub is lovely, warm and inviting with the log burner welcoming in soggy visitors. For those who love shellfish, its heaven, my husband had oysters and mussels and was blown away with the freshness and flavor. I had a lamb burger, locally sourced lamb and delicious accompaniments. Lovely selection of local craft beers and ciders and a whisky board to tempt the non drivers. The pub sits right on the edge of Loch Fyne and the views are exceptional (even on a wet day).

The location of the Oystercatcher is already a delight - down a pretty lane and then wow you have this amazing view of sun setting over the water and just a few birds wading through the shallow water and some sheep grazing. So peaceful !

This is the third time we have visited here this summer and the food is amazing, please leave the fish and chips and go for something more exciting such as the whole crab in chilli and lime. Please keep the menu alive and order something more adventurous as we have tried most on the menu and it is one of the best in the area. well done and keep it up.

We dropped into Otter ferry when travelling around the Cowal Peninsula on a gorgeous warm day and oh my God, this place is amazing. It is situated on the edge of Loch fyne and when the tide is out, it exposes an amazing bank of stones and shells that lead out to the centre of the Loch. We went into the pub for a drink and ended up having a scone with jam and cream (which were delicious). If you get the chance then take advantage of this beautiful place.

Otter Ferry is an idyllic spot and The Oyestercatcher is run by enthusiastic people who care. Great cut-above food freshly prepared each day with love. Best oysters and much more including very yummy home baking too and great selection of craft beers and ciders
