Visited for lunch today with a friend while just passing through the town and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here! Being vegan, I worry a little about finding options when I’m somewhere quite rural but there were a couple of options for me to choose from. I had the lemon, houmous and courgette wrap with (brilliantly crispy) chips. The lady who served us was really helpful in double checking that the wrap would be suitable for me, nothing was too big a problem. My friend had the tomato soup, BLT and salad which she said where both lovely also. The baked goods displayed on the counter looked amazing, I noticed a few gluten free options which I’m sure are appreciated but would have loved to see a dairy and egg-free option too! Will definitely return when I’m next in that part of the world!

We visited here last Sunday although no thanks to the signage which was at best extremely poor. Eventually we parked up and had some lunch, the staff were friendly and the food nice. The place was incredibly echoing which made it difficult to hear. The place could do with some soft furnishings to help with the noise .

Stumbled on this place while passing as it's not easily seen ..So glad to have,it's run by Scottish Canals. I was served by an enthusiastic woman named Seona who served a delicious breakfast just to my liking...service was lovely as is this place ..a small selection of gifts, clean toilets.ramp for wheelchairs ..don't rush past ..stop & try the homemade scones or something more substantial. I will recommend this eatery without hesitation..

I pass through Ardrishaig a lot on a long drive and had noticed that this place had opened up, so decided to give it a try, especially given that parking is so easy. I wanted a coffee and something light to eat, but didn’t have time to sit in so hoped that they could do it “to go”, as it wasn’t completely clear. I asked, was told yes, and as the soup was the only thing on the board, I asked for a soup and a coffee, and then went to the bathroom. When I came back, I was charged £6.50, and then I waited. I had been hoping to find the two cups sitting waiting for me but that was fine, maybe expecting a bit much. There were three tables occupied - two people on each, one table had clearly finished. There was obviously at least one person in the kitchen, and there was one lady front of house, who was busying herself putting cakes out. There was no further activity. The three occupied tables were eating and chatting, no-one was moving around. I continued to wait. I was a bit confused because there seemed to be no sign of anyone doing anything about my order, and it wasn’t because they were run off their feet. This woman was arranging cakes on plates. Two more ladies came in, looked around slightly, looked at the menus which were standing on the counter, offering breakfast until midday (it was shortly after 12), talked quietly to each other. The lady behind the counter continued with her cakes. One of the two who had come in asked whether they did lunch and was told yes. Embarrassed pause. She persevered - what do you do? They were then told to take a seat, and one of the breakfast menus that were stacked on the counter, each on a heavy base, was picked up, turned round to reveal lunch, and taken over to their table. Still no sign of my soup or my coffee, nor any mention. Next, a man came in, who was obviously known to the lady who worked there. They had a conversation (I got the impression it was work related) and she got out her phone and they discussed whatever was on the screen. I stood and watched. Then I could bear it no longer. A good 10 mins had passed. I had asked for a soup and a coffee. So I said excuse me. Is there a problem? I was told that I was in a queue and there were other people who were there before me. (Presumably referring to the people who were eating in). I asked if the soup was actually being made. No, it was being heated. And the coffee? If she made my coffee now, it wouldn’t be fresh by the time the soup came. At this point she went back into the kitchen - I can only imagine to specify that the soup had been a takeaway order, because only then was a takeaway cup called for. The soup appeared, the coffee was made, and both were quite delicious. How bizarre. Less grace or a less smiley demeanour I have not seen in front of house staff anywhere, and how extraordinary to think that it’s ok to think that a £6.50 takeaway order can wait for 10 mins before going out. If it was ok for Miss to be putting cakes on a plate, would it not have been more appropriate for her to have put one ladle of soup in a cup? And if the soup was cold (and how bizarre is that?), would you not just heat the single portion quickly in order to allow that £6.50 order to take their takeaway and go? Again, the soup was good, the coffee was good, but I didn’t in any way feel valued as a customer and sadly I won’t be back.

We have stopped here for lunch, coffee and cakes for a couple of years in a row. We are pleased to say it’s proving a reliably excellent option for anyone passing through. Good parking, welcoming, clean, plenty of tables, very modern and smart and, most importantly, great food and coffee prepared on site. Really unique menu with lots of interesting choices for all needs: filling, healthy or picky kids. Highly recommended - plan a stop here if passing as it’s slim pickings to the north or south.

I follow recommendations on Tripadvisor usually with great success, but not this time. We arrived at half past three to find the restaurant/cafe closed at four and not five as we believed. The waitress was pleasant but could only offer us scones or cakes and various drinks. We opted, unwisely as it turns out, for a scone and a coffee. I consider myself a connoisseur of the scone having consumed very many in my lifetime and this was not one of the best. It was very large but so dry and dense. It was a cheese scone with not much evidence of cheese and I begged some jam from my husband to make it easier to consume. Coffee is a personal thing and this was not a great coffee in my opinion. For this offering we were charged £9.60! I have had much better scones and coffee for considerably less.

Stopped in by for breakfast. It was quiet when we entered. Ordered the 5 item breakfast deal, with a bacon roll for the kiddo. Service was warm, friendly, and helpful, and the food and drinks came quickly. Breakfast was delicious, with everything cooked to perfection. My only criticism would be that there’s no option to pay more for a ‘fat boy’ breakfast of even more. Superb. As was the millionaire’s shortbread we got to go. How breakfast should be.

Having given up gluten for health reasons a couple of years’ ago, my family are very forgiving as I drag them in and out of tea rooms looking for somewhere that serves even one GF option. So imagine my delight to find there were three cakes on offer that met my fussiness. And they all got to eat enormous scones with clotted cream and homemade jam washed down with hot chocolate and the full works. So everyone is happy!Great service and lovely tea room overlooking the logs being loaded on the ship to keep us entertained. Thank you!

We were just visiting the area and looking for a quick coffee. Staff were very friendly and the coffee and hot chocolate delicious. We also shared a fruit scone and rhubarb and custard loaf. Passing through Ardrishaig and came across The Steamer Terminal just set back away from the road and with parking avaliable right outside. The staff mentioned the new menu had just gone live this week so we came at a good time. A nice variety avaliable, nice to see a simple but effective menu.We had the open smoked salmon sandwich with pickled onions and watercress and also the steak burger with chimmichuri sauce and a tastey slaw and good crisp fries. We shared a homemade Scone and cream to finish and a nice coffee each. We noticed there was a loyalty coffee card aswell, shame we're not local or we would have taken advantage of this. The lady serving us also mentioned they will be serving a roast on a Sunday from the 10th- we might drop by on the way home to check it out. Nice find keep up the good work. We will be back.

We have thoroughly enjoyed eating at the Steamer Terminal since it opened last autumn. Our favourite is definitely the Cullen Skink, a rich, creamy broth made with smoked haddock. The service is always excellent. This week has seen the Steamer Terminal have it's first pop up evening restaurant, with a fantastic 3 course menu. I would highly recommend this place, which is full of history as the old steamers brought holiday makers as well as goods through the crinan canal.

This shop really is the hidden gem of Dunoon. There are a few things to try, that cannot be missed. The first is the cinnamon bun! - Well worth pre-ordering, make sure you get enough, as one will not be enough. Next, the handmade chocolates are to die for! - Little hits of delicious chocolatey goodness. Beautifully flavoured and presented. Yolanda is really personable and friendly. If you need a bespoke birthday cake, or something sweet to tackle your cravings… this is the go-to place.
