Swallow Cafe in Argyll & Bute

A firm favourite with my wee one, she ALWAYS has the Mac n Cheese which I must say is delicious, suuuuuper cheesy! I usually will have the soup which also never disappoints, cheap and cheerful a great place to stop in for a coffee and cake too.

Great local cafe in the middle of Dunoon. Good food, good price. Always very busy. Love the caramel latte with extra shot of caramel.

Terrific Coffee shop on main drag dunoon. Staff were great, Friendly and attentive. Banoffee Cake and coffee, especially spiced pumpkin latte were excellent. Nice warm and cozy atmosphere. What's not to like 10 out of 10 for me.🤗

Obviously a local loved cafe. It was busy but the staff were very quick and food came in good time too. Hubby is coeliac and they were well trained in allergies and cross contamination. Food was excellent and baking delicious.

My family came in for breakfast and it was absolutely amazing, the best breakfast we all had. Not vegan but had the vegan breakfast and it was to die for, one I’ll be thinking about for a long time. Absolutely recommend this place. The service was amazing too, came with colouring books for my daughter, the girl helping us was so lovely and service was quick. We had such an amazing experience and it was just breakfast.

The café still has a "small town" atmosphere to it in the best possible sense: people actually meet up there for a coffee and a catch up as opposed to chains where you pop in to grab your morning latte. You see the care in the food and drinks and the staff are fantastic: friendly and accommodating, but at the same time very professional. And they're dog friendly, which in our case is a must nowadays.

Lovely, friendly little place. Simple menu, tasty food and a reasonable range of sweet stuff 😋 Staff are very efficient and attentive. Atmosphere is created by clientele who are comfortable chatting to each other- even as strangers!

Excellent family run cafe with fantastic vegan options located in the heart of Dunoon. We visit 'The Swallow' regularly whether it's for a spot of lunch or some delicious ice cream! Mark and the team are a credit to the town and offer a nice warm atmosphere mixed with great service. Thank you!

Odd service where they dissuade you from ordering the side soup (as it may be too much) food alongside a basic panini and wilt side salad. Noticeable difference of attitude towards a person of colour (my partner noticed it) namely myself. Typical small town small mindedness. Ice cream looked good, though.

My 1st time visiting Dunoon. This cafe is a great wee find, just 5-10mins walk away from the ferry terminal. We had lovely coffee's and really tasty cakes. The service was fantastic. The servers were really attentive and super friendly. This cafe is dog friendly, and each dog that came in also received a warm welcome too 😊 Looking forward to returning the next time we come to Dunoon

Such a lovely and welcoming cafe towards furry friends and their humans, too. Great coffees, scones, and cakes, too, or yummy breakfasts to start your day are all delicious. Whatever your food preference, the staff at Swallow Cafe are wonderful & accommodating to your needs.

First time I've been in for years and it was lovely to see it so busy. We were served by pam who was an absolute delight. She really makes the place. Will definitely be back again. Great food great service many thanks.

Ordered takeout food for collection. We got held up and cafe rang to confirm we would be collecting. Confirmed we were on way. Customer service was good. Cafe was clean but very outdated but added some character. The food wad ok typical cafe food. The quality of sausages were poor which let the breakfast down. Overall though an ok stop if need some food.

Loved our breakfast, super fast with our lovely food, delicious coffee, ice cream is also the best, lovely scones too, the staff are excellent, the only thing that would put the cherry of the cake would be more home made cakes/desserts. Not our first visit and will defo be again.

Arrived at 2.30pm on a wet Tuesday, cafe not busy, several empty tables. Asked if dog friendly, found a table at the back for myself, daughter and small dog. I ordered the soup and asked for a brown roll, my daughter who has a severe dairy allergy ordered a baked potato with vegan cheese. She then asked what herbal teas were available. The waitress (long dark hair, young) pointed to a shelve behind the counter saying 'they are over there. When asked again what tea was available, she said you tell me what you want and I'll say if it's available . My daughter asked for strawberry. When the food arrived I asked the waitress if it was definitely vegan cheese, explaining my daughter has a severe allergy (the menu actually says to make staff aware of allergies). I was dismayed at the curt, surely reply of if you asked for vegan it's vegan. My soup arrived with two slices of white bloomer type bread, not the brown roll I had asked for. At this point I thought the service was poor but said nothing. We had almost finished eating when a couple with another dog appeared, heading for the next table. As our small dog was under our table, told the couple this. My dog started barking ,(this had never happened before in a cafe). I immediately moved him to the other side of my chair. I was surprised when the couple didn't choose one othe the several other empty tables further away (something I would do in the same circumstances). The waitress appeared and in a very loud, rude voice told me I would have to leave if my dog barked again. My daughter left her tea and I went to pay. I was then told by another waitress it was the other till. By this point I was almost in tears. Never returning. Why the first waitress was so rude and abrupt I don't know, also there were several empty tables so why not suggest either I move or the new couple who had not ordered sit further away? It wasn't dog friendly. Yes my dog barked 4 times but I immediately did something about it. As for the tea it's her job to say what's available. We never got to find out what tea it was either. I paid, although wish I hadn't for the tea, but didn't leave a tip and said why. I am not leaving a tip to someone who is such poor, surly waitress, who has no manners and can't even get a basic order right. Won't be returning.

A busy cafe on the Main Street. Food was lovely and well presented. Staff were warm and friendly. Will certainly be back the next time we’re in Dunoon.

We had an excellent lunch here the other day, would highly recommend! We had two milkshakes and two paninis (chicken mayo and cheese and coronation chicken) with a side of chips, all very tasty and fresh. Staff are friendly and it wasn’t particularly expensive either. Will be back!

Wow what a fab wee cafe in dunoon! Such a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Very nice lunch and delicious milkshakes. 😋 very dog friendly too. Our 7 year old loved his visit getting a colouring book on arrival. And he made a picture for the waitress who made him feel special by telling him she would take it home and put picture on her fridge. 💖 10/10 if we are ever back in dunoon we will be back! Oh and a nice ice cream on way out 👌

Nice little café. Nice staff, good portions reasonable priced food. Coffee is lovely. Can recommend Nachos with chilli and Nachos with the Haggis.

10/10 food, we had the breakfast and the pizza panini and both was brilliant! Staff were super lovely, it was lovely watching them fuss the other pups in the cafe, it’s definitely such a dog friendly place!! Would definitely come back if we return to the area 🫶🏼

Came in for tea and because it was my birthday decided on cake to, and the lovely ladies put a candle in mine and sang happy Birthday.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch of chicken, fries and slaw washed down with a biscoff milkshake. Absolutely gorgeous stuff! Really good service here as well, very welcoming😊

We popped in here as it was the only place we could find open, it was busy and seems popular. We ordered takeaway, the wait was a little long and people behind us in the que got served before us. The food was lovely and portion sizes were great. It's dog friendly and they have a dog menu if you sit in, but we ordered dog ice cream to takeaway, we got charged, then were told 10 mins later, there was none! Definitely worth popping in to try!

Love visiting this cafe! We come up from Somerset, this was our second visit, always seems busy and a sense of community inside. Nice food and cakes, not to mention the locally roasted coffee, it was so good I bought a bag of it to take home!

I come regularly to this cafe as local to me. This time I brought mum for breakfast. Totally amazing as usual. Friendly staff who never stop moving, great menu and cake selection too. Has good selection of ice creams to eat in or take out. Also do knickerbocker glories! Yummy.

Up in Scotland to see my mother and i had the idea to get some lunch from The Swallow Cafe. Amazing Food at great prices, 7 of us walked in and was greeted straight away by the friendly staff, We all had a bite to eat and a drink (Best Latte I have had since being in Scotland), Place was so good that on the way out we all got ice cream and cakes and I can assure you all delicious and went down a treat, Thank you for everything and next time we are back up here we will definitely visit again.

Great food, but it was clearly closing time. This wasn’t mentioned at the time of ordering. As we sat waiting for food, the blinds were all pulled down around us, every chair put up on other tables and the floor swept around as we ate. Unfortunate as wanted to like it. We felt under pressure to leave and skipped pudding as a result.

My husband and I visited this bustling cafe today for lunch. The staff very extremely lovely and happy to help with anything. I have coeliac disease and when I asked what I could have to eat that was gluten free the answer was a lot! They even have a separate gluten free frier!!! So chips were an option. A true miracle in the life of a coeliac. I had a lovely toasty with homemade coleslaw and cheesy chips. A must visit for any gluten free-er in Dunoon!

Rude staff , we had to wait almost an hour for 3 cappuchinos and 3 bacon rolls , the atmosphere was very awkward the woman who works in the swallow was screaming and shouting in the kitchen

Went in today for 3 ice cream cones, not even 1 full scoop was given on each one and was charged £2.30 each total rip off and ice cream was pretty tasteless left there and drove to invarary for decent ones

My wee dog Rory enjoyed his sausages and the very friendly staff also offered water for dog without needing to ask. Worth a visit if in Dunoon. Off to Pucks Glen now for a walk.

Small cafe but very clean delicious food

Nice small cafe in Dunoon. Food was excellent. I had a backed potato with haggis and chedder, which was excellent. Others had burgers, mac and cheese, baked potato with chicken which were also said to be excellent. Kids meals were bit underwhelming but OK. Service was excellent. Prices were reasonable. There is no parking on site or in the street next to the cafe. There are few car parks which charges 1 pound per hour. We founs there are ample parking on the streets on the residential area above the town centre just a 2 minute walk.

Very busy Italian style café. Good food, staff very pleasant and helpful.

We arrived as a group of 6 with 2 dogs in tow and was made to feel very welcome. Dogs were given treats and a drink, and tables were arranged to accommodate us all. The service was friendly and quick and the food was beautiful and very good value. We enjoyed our lunch and would definitely recommend this lovely cafe to others.

Always superb. Great drinks, great food. Have had their breakfasts many times, coffees, cakes, pancakes and high-quality homemade ice creams. People complaining about the price I feel should be blaming inflation rather than the café, because if you're looking for the same somewhere cheaper you will have a hard quest ahead of you.

I have breakfast here every Sunday. It is an excellent breakfast served by pleasant, friendly efficient staff. It has now got very busy on Sundays as the other local cafes have closed down. Pam and Mark run a great place.
