Java Walk Coffee Shop in Argyll & Bute

Lovely little spot on the seafront to grab a snack & hot drink. I ordered a tea & a build you own super nice sausage, bacon and cheese wrap. Ingredients were really good to create a very tasty snack before continuing my walk to the town. Highly recommend a stop of here.

Fantastic little place. Great selection of food and baked goods, as well as hand-made crafts, soaps, candles and jewellery. Dog friendly to boot 😁. I've had some uber interesting conversations with the staff. Totally knowledgeable about myriad of subjects. The only con is the minimal seating though, although we've always gotten a seat. But we've only been to Dunoon during off-peak season.

We had 2 of their new ice coffees and 2 bits of cake and it came to £22..expensive...cake was nice but coffee wasn't the best...

Always loved Java walk. From the day it opened when I was a teen, and I always visit when I’m visiting Dunoon. The owner is always charming, as is the vibe of the shop itself.

Day trip to Dunoon so we came across this walking from Hunters Quay. Lovely hot drinks including Chai latte. Service is excellent and they welcome dogs...even dishing out bacon slices for them. On returning we popped in again for ice creams. Staff very friendly.

Nice place to stop off for a coffee. Americano was decent. Quick service. Grabbed a couple of filled breakfast rolls to takeaway. Seats available inside. Ample parking outside.

My husband and I decided to take a leisurely walk along the promenade with our 6 month old, so I popped into Java and ordered 2 flat whites. Outside, when we opened the coffees to add sugar we were met with what looked like Americanos with added milk - there was zero frothed milk or crema - so I took them back into the shop; this is no big deal, mistakes happen, but I'm not paying almost £7 for something I didn't order - a pretty standard customer service issue.... I took the coffees back to the counter and explained to the woman serving (who is also the owner) that I didn't get what I ordered to which she defended the drink and said that that was in fact what a flat white should look like... she went to her back room and brought out a coffee chart talking about microfoam and that she was trained and knew what she was talking about - she's correct about the foam, but there was no foam at all unless she meant it was so micro that it was invisible! She begrudgingly began to make new ones and said something to me, and as I was responding she spoke over me to her assistant. Her attitude and rudeness just got too much so I asked for a refund instead. I was perfectly nice to her during the encounter, but as I was leaving she sarcastically said to me "enjoy!". No this wasn't an 'enjoy the rest of your day' remark, she was intentionally continuing this disastrous cafe experience. As a born and bred local I won't be returning, which is a shame as the location is fantastic. If you want decent coffee with a basic amount of service then you'd be better to walk to the other end of the promenade in town and go to Coast coffee, or if you're headed in the other direction towards Sandbank go to The Salty Bean, the little coffee place across from the Western ferries. In fact, you'd get better coffee and service if you pop into the petrol station and grab a coffee from the Costa coffee machine.

Great coffee, lovely ice cream and a good place for a friendly chat. If you're visiting Dunoon and looking for some tips and recommendations, a quick stop at Java is a great option.

The first time we visited this place, we were looking forward to it. On arrival, I was served by owner as she told me. I didn't like her attitude towards us. I felt rushed too. The cook , who delivered my order was lovely and very friendly.

Reasonably priced, no frills takeaway. Bacon and cream cheese bagel was good and very generous with the cream cheese. Bacon slightly crispy for my taste but not a big complaint. They also do old school traybake cakes and giant empire biscuits. Coffee was nice too, better (and hotter) than a fancy one I had the day before which was double the price. Shame they don't have tables. Will still be back next time I'm in Dunoon.

I have two weans, ones in the high school now, other in the primary. Last week, my wife had a day aff, she works in walkers, so we decided to treat ourselves and go down the front and get a cuppa. Took the dug and the wife down and we got a latte for her and a tea for ma self. Bit pricy but it was nice! We walked round Kirn with the dug and our drinks for a few minutes before driving back to the gaff. I’m not a coffee person ma self but it looked like there was a nice selection of coffees to choose from, next time we’re both no working, we might take the weans as I saw they sold ice-creams.

The chai latte (came with an oat milk alternative which was perfect) was so tasty and I loved the little trinkets in the shop. Very cozy atmosphere and the staff were very nice :)

Same queue story as below, though I'll add that I'd never been and was looking for a decent coffee. This place was a last gasp attempt since apparently nowhere in town bothers with menus - case in point the dozens of photographs of the beach instead of anything useful. I can see the beach guys, I want to know what the shop has, not look at you go walks with your dog.

Milkshakes. The milkshakes here are phenomenal and tasty spectacular. I would recommend their Oreo flavor as it is delicious 😋 if you don't visit here then you can alternatively visit Walkers another fine establishment that has brilliant food. 😊

Great Cornish!!! I missed the sense of normality that a simple Cornish ice cream under the sun could provide.

Food is usually good and staff are usually helpful but yesterday I waited 25 minutes in a queue outside to be served, and when I got to the till I was told no more orders are being taken and I wasn’t getting served. The service overall was slow and one person was getting served at a time, the staff should have noticed a queue was forming outside and let us know we wouldn’t be served by the time we got to the front of the queue. We started queuing at 3:25 and didn’t get to the front till 3:50 just to be told we would not be served as it was nearly closing time.

This place does takeaway and make sure to get the milkshake. We sadly only found this on our 2nd last day of our hols, though it is easy to find just at the sea front of Dunoon, we then went out our way to get breakfast here. Service is lovely and even though hidden by covid mask it's definitely service with a smile. Appeared very hygiene conscious with system in place during this weird pandemic year.

This wee place is very cramped and the outside seating is a joke, sorry but the coffee is not good either!

I called in on a sunny, but chilly day. The coffee shop is tiny, but very quaint. The lady behind the counter was friendly, and the prices seem very reasonable. I had a bacon roll and a cup of tea. The roll was full of crispy bacon and the tea nice and strong. There were various puzzles, and gift items for sale. My favourite part was when an elderly man came in with his huge dog. They were both given a warm welcome, and a bowl of water was provided for the dog. It all added to the warm and relaxed atmosphere. I passed by later on and another man was there with his large dog. I am sorry that I only found this little gem on the last day of my holiday.

A nice wee place for a good coffee. Quiet and not many seats but handy to pick up a coffee on way for ferry or if our for a walk or on a seat on the front at Kirn if the weather is fair. Coffee and paninis were great.

I called in quite a few times while I was on holiday staying in Dunoon, because the cheese and bacon bagels were amazing, and the cafe is dog friendly. They were really nice and offered my dog some water and bacon. It’s quite cheap for a place you might consider a bit of a tourist destination- the staff were friendly and had a few suggestions for local places to visit! I’ll definitely go again next time I’m there. I recommend the cheese and bacon bagel and vanilla latte 👍👌☕️

Stopped here for a quick coffee before going for the ferry and had a nice wee chat with the guy that works there. The coffee was great and there were some interesting gifts and paintings by local artists on display.

Lovely dog-friendly coffee shop to stop in when walking along the shore to Dunoon. I've visited Kirn/Dunoon for many years and I've found this place serves the best quality coffee - the prices are really good and there's some interesting gifts to peruse while waiting for your drinks. Last visited just after Christmas, my girlfriend got a Goat's Cheese panini which was delicious, and the staff were friendly as always. Also, being conscious of our waste, we try to use our own reusable coffee cups wherever possible, so were happy to find they offer a 15p discount if you bring your own cup. Highly recommend.

Really lovely staff and the coffee and smoothies are delicious! Some interesting knick knacks on offer to buy which make great gifts. Not really a sit in and chat kind of place as only one table but takeaway and go sit at the front in Kirn to appreciate the beautiful scenery.

Always amazing service. Food is great. I highly recommend the Cuban panini. They're happy to make changes to the menu to accommodate individual tastes.

Great independent which is perfect for a coffee and a catch up. Alongside the beach and seafront park. Dog friendly. Carefully served coffee. The staff are the stars. It's so refreshingly different.

I visited 2 weeks ago. I got ice cream for them. The youngest ( almost 2) got a few feet away and his fell off and was let with only the cone. He was clearly upset, we went back in to get one in a tub. An adult in the shop dropped hers and had it replaced free I had to pay again even though it was clear what happened and he would not gave had time to eat it as we had ok been in minutes before. Think this was a bit unfair. Don't think I would hurry to go back

Lovely relaxing coffee shop with quality coffee and the largest range of syrups and beverages! Fab pit stop for fresh bagels, paninis and cakes. All of the beautiful quirky trinkets to peruse are a cute touch while waiting for your order, my favourite coffee shop in town.

What a let down. Terrible tasteless coffee. Where has the original owner gone? She knew how to make proper coffee. It was so bad we did not drink. Go back to school and learn how to make a decent cappuccino. Drive on by.

I have been going to Java walk for many years and they consistently serve the best hot chocolate I've ever had. Good selection of cakes too.

Popped in for a coffee & bacon roll on a windswept Sunday morning. The coffee & bacon roll was tasty and inexpensive, was also allowed to bring the dog and husband in with me. Will be returning.

One of the few places you can get a really decent coffee to take away, reasonable prices and friendly service. You can park right out front of it, and there's a gift shop within as well.
