Lovely community cafe. A good range on the menu, staff are lovely and the cafe and toilets are clean and well maintained. The views out over the water are beautiful and we had our lunch by the window Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and the kids enjoyed the park next door. Hope we didn’t disturb your burns lunch.

Lovely welcome at Port Mor Community Café for breakfast. Staff were excellent. Polite and really helpful (and patient) with all our accompanying grandchildren. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast. Just what was required to set us up for the day. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Islay.

Visited Port Mor for a lovely full cooked breakfast. In particular, the toast was excellently sliced into perfect triangles and was the perfect level of toastedness. The waiting staff were very friendly and made it clear to us the high standards of food at this establishment We returned for coffee later on and the staff were very sympathetic of our bus troubles

We thought it was just going to be burger and chips to please the kids, but it's far more! While the kids enjoyed their meal, we turned to the menu for the day and finally chose what were the best mussels in white wine for a long time plus wonderful crab claws. Great baking too (and of course bright blue bubble-gum icecream for the kids). Excellent service, lovely location. And a much-appreciated playpark too.

Came here twice during our stay. First time the food was really good. Second time food wasn't as impressive but was ok. Apple pie done in the microwave was stodgy and chicken burgers overdone and a bit stringy. Service was fantastic both times though.

Just out for a drive and stopped off for a spot of lunch. Ordered a chicken mayonnaise bloomer with salad and crisps at what I thought was a reasonable price of £5 until the plate arrived. 2 slices of white bread with chicken mayo and crisps.. This was not what I was expecting, a bloomer is thick country style loaf with a lovely crust not two slices of cheap white. Dissapointment personified!!

I am giving this place 5 stars just for being open for lunch! It is hard to find places to eat on this island. The food was actually pretty good. Enjoyed the steak pie and fish& chips. The chicken Tikka was overly salty and nan bread was lackluster. The space is bright and busy, looks like a community center rather than a restaurant. They had good dessert selection and a bar. The server was lovely.

We stopped off here on our way back down to Portnahaven, it was difficult to find anywhere to get lunch, even local hotel only serving at the weekend, which was a definite plus for us, even though it was very busy we got a lovely welcome and shown to our table, the lovely waitress came and took our drinks order and didn’t rush us into deciding. The young man that was behind the bar brought us our drinks was quiet but also polite, the food was served quite quickly and was delicious and hot, the only minus I have is that we’ve only discovered it 2 days before we go home!

Totally fabulous Islay’s really busy at the moment, made worse by Brexit staff shortages and increased home tourism. The Port Mor community cafe was a real find today. We had the Cullen skink, chicken curry and the cheesecake, and took away the pakoras with mint dip to have for dinner at our B&B. All amazing. Great service, friendly owners and the most spectacular views. If there is a more beautiful view from a campsite in Britain we haven’t found it. Thank you very much for feeding us today when we thought we were down to crisps!! You have a lovely business there and we will be back.

It’s tough at the moment to find anywhere to eat at the last minute. About as tough (I’d wager) as finding staff for any kind of hospitality establishment. We booked in in the morning for an evening meal. The food was swiftly delivered, delicious and beautifully cooked. The staff were relaxed, kind and in a jovial mood. Couldn’t really fault anything. (One of the chefs is evidently a master of pakora batter too.) Top notch!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch here, and between the menu choices and the specials board, we’re impressed by the imaginative food alongside ‘standards’ like fish and chips…Heartily recommended. Some previous reviews note poor service, and I guess this relates to a young perhaps inexperienced waiter, to which I’d say ‘give him a chance’.

Port Mor is not the fanciest restaurant in Islay, but the views out the window over the Loch more than make up for a lack of flocked wallpaper or a gantry of rare malt whisky. Ideal for families, as it has a simple kids menu for the fussy eaters, but can also offer something a bit more sophisticated for adults. Service is quick and very friendly. That the kids can go and play in the playpark next door while adults might linger over coffee (or a drink - blissfully (for non-drivers) it is also licensed!) is an added bonus. Highly recommended.

Very fresh and flavorful but could have used an included starch or bread without having to order chips on the side for the £15 price for I believe 5 or 6 langoustine. and was a dinner item Salad was executed nicely. A touch of balsamic would have elevated. While I received a pick, something to crack the shells would have been nice as the shells are spiny and sharp and I was pricked several times. As we were staying on the campsite we ate here a couple of times, one lunch and one dinner. Both times were fine but as a community run place it could be a bit hit or miss with the staff efficiency. We had a nice, friendly lady serve us who explained the kitchen is run by an Indian gentleman so curries here are authentic. Perhaps £12.50 for a cafe curry is a bit dear and it should be more like £10 but portion size was acceptable. I think Islay as a whole is a bit more expensive than the mainland and it is the peak tourist seasonThe menu has regular choices like fish and chips but the blackboard specials change daily and offers something a bit different like mussels in a Thai style sauce, cullen skink (soup) and karai chicken curry. You can also just have a drink or coffee and cake. Choice varies. It is a big cafe style space with a TV set at the end and a bit of mess on view in the 'staff area' so don't come here expecting restaurant style furniture and decor! It's clean, spacious and has sea views. It's good to support a community project.

I dropped in to eat with a friend earlier this evening as we’d heard good things about the cafe and were really excited to try it and support something in the community. Unfortunately we both left feeling ripped off and angry. After ordering an omelette and a quiche I asked the waitress what the vegan dishes were. She didn’t seem to know and went off to ask. On returning she mentioned that there was a vegetable curry on the menu so we changed our minds and ordered two. We’re both not huge eaters nor are we greedy but the actual amount of curry on the plate was meagre. I mentioned what I thought to the waitress and also to the lady behind the counter who said that it was down to the chef. We were shocked to be charged £12.50 for a veggie curry which was the same price as a beef curry. We won’t be returning as there are many places nearby that offer much better value for money.

Amazing location and the camp site staff so friendly and helpful. The cafe sadly was a completely different. So it was festival week but it really was not that busy. We popped in for two evenings not to eat but a quick drink with the kids around 6pm. All staff were stressed and not at all welcoming. We were happy to stand at the bar but not really welcomed, we were happy to perch on a table before people arrived for their meal, not really welcome. The beer from Islay ales was great. Popped in one morning for breakfast. Left after 10 mins. Only 1/2 tables were full, we asked do we wait at the table for someone to come to us or order at bar and were told they did not know. We were told a few bacon baps would take 30 mins. Real shame and it seems, looking at other reviews we were just unlucky.

Oh dear...The bistro was empty when we went in except for someone working at a computer at a window seat. We wandered around the room looking for any menus or service. The young woman at the computer finally acknowledged us and asked if we wanted anything. We replied maybe if we could see what was available. She asked if we would like drinks which we ordered and which were quickly placed at our table and she returned to her computer. I had ordered black coffee and it came in a mug half filled with a tall spoon in it?!? but lukewarm. My husband wandered off in search of menus towards the kitchen. She spotted him and said she would get them and again went back to her computer. After some time I went to the bar to order food. The same young woman came from her computer again and took my order. For my husband I said he would have the burger but no coleslaw or salad, he liked plain! Our meals arrived promptly but my husband lifted the top off his burger and saw a dressing, orangey/creamy maybe a type of thousand island dressing and could not contemplate eating it. He took the meal over towards the kitchen and the young woman intercepted him. He explained that he wanted plain burger. She said that I hadn’t asked for plain, just no coleslaw or salad. She took the plate from him and held it up as she approached me at my table. He followed her. She spoke in a clear voice to me which new customers in the bistro could hear as they turned to look “ You didn’t order plain burger. You ordered no coleslaw and no dressing. You didn’t say no relish. “ I was embarrassed and said ok well never mind as people were listening. She looked at us both and said she would replace it and walked to the kitchen shaking her head. We ate the food and I went to pay. As I paid I said I am sorry for the misunderstanding she replied well you didn’t say no relish. I left feeling upset but later I reconsidered. How rude was she to speak like that to a customer. I have not left a bad review before but now I feel incensed. By the way there is no mention of relish being part of the burger meal for me to decline it’s addition to the meal.

Port Mor is somewhere we go every time we're on Islay. The kids love the playpark, we love the coffee and ice cream, and on a good day the views out the big windows over to Glenegedale and the Oa are absolutely stunning. The food has been top class since the ownership changed hands, and if you're looking for somewhere a bit different round Port Charlotte or Bruichladdich its definitely worth a look at the menu. We ended up here because we hadn't booked ahead anywhere else (a must on Islay). Two options for dinner - fish and chips or pizza, which was fine as it was late and we were starving. Pizza was fine, fish and chips were average. The view was probably good, but it was dark and stormy. Diners seemed to be mostly campers from the associated campground. A surprising amount of gluten free desserts are offered. Basic wine choice. It was OK, but could be much better if and when they expand their menu, decorate a little more for the evening crowd.

They returned 15 mins after saying or meal would have to be remade later not that much warner but with the addition of a lot of pepper and again the most disgusting mash, takes a great skill to make mash to badly twice. We ate what we could and left as couldn't be bothered to complain again. Safe to say we didn't eat in this place again as not only is the food bad but it is also over priced, much better places to eat in Port Charlotte.

This bistro located on a local sports facility and camp site offers good honest food at a reasonable price. Selection of whisky is not bad either😏

Went here for lunch as "Yan's Kitchen" was full, was greeted with the most unfriendliest welcome I have ever experienced in my life, she was clearly under a lot of pressure as it was relatively busy, but that isn't an excuse...the food was below average, the glass I got my drink in was warm and the chairs were uncomfortable.

We were camping here and enjoyed an excellent evening meal served by the lovely Lilly-Anne and Sophie. The restaurant was busy but nothing was too much trouble. Staff likes these are worth their weight in gold.

A wonderful find! A bistro with a fabulous view. We dropped in for coffee and sat outside in the sun looking across the water. Coffee was delicious as were the cakes. They are open from 8.30 am to 10 pm so we went back for breakfast the next day which was delicious. great flavours and superb value. Also has free wifi which was a bonus

We stopped in here for a quick bit of lunch in the afternoon. Granted it was not at peak time and the regular lunch service was in full flow. However my chicken sandwich was full of lumps of cartilage and the chili was almost inedible and grey.

Islay is well worth a visit and Port Mor Bistro is the perfect place to eat. Food all day and a lovely dinner at night. Friendly, helpful service.

Stopped for a coffee, but saw the breakfast menu and had to have something. The very first best coffee I have had in the UK. It tasted like coffee should. The view was amazing, good for photographers. It has a campsite as well, very open spaces and lots of room. Staff were great and service was fast.

Wow! Thought I'd hit lucky with a campsite with catering but this place is phenomenal... Huge portion, beautifully presented and no pretention. Exactly what a hungry cyclist needs!

Our large squad of 6 adults, 4 teenagers, 2 toddlers and a baby had breakfast there this morning. Most of us had rolls with different fillings (sausage, egg, sausage and egg) but my picky youngest teenager wanted scrambled eggs on toast. Not just any scrambled egg on toast though. The egg has to be beside the toast and the toast needed to be very lightly toasted. Our waitress was excellent, joking with my son and promising to make it perfect.

We had dinner at Port Mor Bistro on Wednesday night and I was really shocked to see the review below. We visited last March and had a great dinner of Fish and Chips (best batter on the island) served by a lovely waitress, and we were delighted to find on our return visit on Wednesday that the owner has added new chairs, fairy lights on the ceiling and a Glasgow brewed lager on tap. It was lovely to watch the sun set over the loch in such a beautiful spot. We found the service and food to be excellent. We enjoyed mussels and scallops to start ( 2 starters shared between 4), lamb curry, 2 x fish and chips (best batter on the island) with homemade starter sauce and steak with lots of sides and a bottle of red. Our bill came to around £25 a head. Very reasonable for seafood/steak and wine and to sit in a such a beautiful spot and soak in the view of the loch and the Oa.

We have eaten here many many times under the previous management and never been disappointed. We visited in August 2016 and wished we hadn't bothered. The time was 11.45 am, After 10 minutes the waitress eventually decided to speak to us - there was only one other table occupied all of them eating so she wasn't exactly busy- we asked for a menu and were very rudely told 'you're too early, lunch hasn't started'. We said we only wanted a snack - the reply 'breakfast and snacks are finished now but you can have a coffee and wait'. She wouldn't even give us a lunch menu 'until lunches are ready' We walked out!

Great position and loads of car parking. Nice little outside play area for small children. We were a party of 7 and all food across two courses arrived promptly apart from one. Service was friendly and more importantly food was well cooked and presented.

Lovely place for a pitstop, I had a cream tea, which was so nice. The scone was slightly warm, which made it feel fresh from the oven and was light and fluffy.

Great service from moment we entered. Young waitress was smiling, attentive. Had the spaghetti bolognaise and dessert Tiramisu (10/10 both beautifully cooked and bring my favourite have had many Tiramisu’s this was very good. Good Italian coffee. High end service in a small town restaurant. My mum had the panacotta and really enjoyed. Thank you.

Ordered a munchie box and got the worse thing I’ve ever seen. Received an un-advertised pizza base in the munchie box underneath 2x pieces chicken pakora and 2x pieces veg pakora both of which were greasy, hard and just unedible. Chips average, donner meat was a joke and unbelievably greasy. Not worth £15.
