Good food, freshly cooked, good, friendly unobtrusive service and a pleasant ambience. Bad weather prevented local small boats from fishing, so sadly no seafood, but a good menu nonetheless. Maybe some people should understand that if for any reason boats are not landing then this will be the case- no fault of the cafe.

Visited this place on a hot sunny day. An amazing seafood menu posted outside. When I ordered, I was told that they had no seafood. Then why advertise it outside? I had fish and chips and my wife had scampi. (Guess they don’t class as seafood). The fish and chips were well below par (not sure the chips were even home made) and the scampi and chips could have come from a freezer shop. Add to that very poor service, with the girl serving seeming not to care. If we visit Jura again, we shall eat at the hotel. A shame really, because this place occupies an excellent spot, not least on a hot and sunny day. A lot of money for below average food and very poor service.

This was a horrible experience..... the owner was surly and over charged us for our food. She wouldn't give me a glass of tap water. When I realised id been overcharged and went back to complain the cook abused me all the way down the road and then actually drove down the road to be rude some more. What a shame for such a beautiful place to leave with a bad memory. It's soo easy to be nice but it's a fine line between hospitality and hostility and the antler was on the wrong side of it.

Distinctly average food and no tap water provided. I’ve never known anywhere that didn’t provide tap water and we didn’t want to use plastic bottled water that was the main alternative. Waitress was unhelpful and food took a while to come. OK if the pub isn’t serving food yet but wasn’t impressed.

A member of staff at the Ardbeg distillery recommended the Antler Cafe when she asked what we were doing that day and I had said a visit to Jura. Well she gave a great recommendation. We had a lovely lunch served by absolutely great staff who were really friendly and helpful. We all had a filling, tasty lunch and were set up for the day. The lunches are generous and with a serving of island hospitality. We absolutely loved Jura - so much so we had to return 2 days later for another visit. There is something really, really special about this island and place. Thanks to the staff at the Antler cafe for making us feel so welcome. Highly recommend. They do specials of lobster and langoustine and venison (all local).

We ate here for 3 nights during our 4 night stay on Jura. The seafood comprises of lobster and langoustines is just superb as is their other evening meal offerings. The lasagne’s also delicious. Not licensed but you can take your own drink and they will even chill your wine if you take it in earlier. Also of interest was the fact many guests of the nearby Jura hotel were eating there says a lot.

We visited Antlers in early May 2021 and were delighted to find a lovely new owner serving homemade food with local ingredients. There is a real ethos of fresh, local ingredients, for example they serve local farm eggs and ice cream from nearby islands (Arran & Gigha). The staff are super friendly and there is outdoor seating with a sea view for sunny days. We liked it so much we returned twice in two days! Wir haben das Cafe mit 5 Personen und einem Kleinkind besucht. Sehr freundliches Personal, dass uns sofort einen Hochstuhl zur Verfügung stellte. We called in here for a coffee on a recent trip to Jura. The coffee was nothing special but ok. The service we received from the Antlers was staggeringly bad. I have written many many reviews for Tripadvisor - this the first time I have been moved to rate anyone so low. We entered the cafe to order coffee and the lady told (yes told) us to order outside at the tables not in the restaurant. She then followed us outside to the table, took teh order we wanted to give her inside, and promptly want back inside to where we had been standing to process the order...WHY? I guess it is her cafe and she can manage it how she chooses .... on the other hand we certainly won't be going back - we will be going to the Jura Hotel for better coffee and better service and be very happy to pay slightly more for the privilege.

We eat here on a regular basis through the summer months. Good, fresh food, friendly staff, and some locally made gifts at realistic prices.

A good alternative to the hotel for lunch, and open on Wednesday nights (and some others?) for dinner or takeaway. Only a few steps away from the hotel and old pier. Good cafe menu of soups, sandwiches, burgers and salads. Welcoming and helpful staff. Recommended. Note that The Antlers is only open during the main tourist season and mostly just during the day - check with local websites, but this is roughly the Easter to end of September period.

One of the few eating options on Jura and it is a good one! The service is good, the food is good too. Try the venison burgers!

Stopped here to sustain ourselves whilst relaxing after a hard day's walking the previous day. The terrace was the ideal place to enjoy the sunshine and refuel on the home-cooked fare whilst watching the world go by.

We visited Jura for a day from Islay. This bistro is prominent in Craighouse and we stopped for a morning coffee before our exploration of the northern part of the island. It was quiet when we called in but the service was good and the coffee came in a cafetière. The lunchtime menu was just being put on the blackboard and it did look inviting. The local coach operator called by and ordered 13 lunches for his coach so it must be a popular place to eat.

Good coffee shop in Craighouse. Has an outdoor terrace which was lovely and warm. We went for morning coffee and lovely cake. In typical Scottish manner, the weather changed so we popped back for afternoon tea, sitting inside.

Not many places to eat on the island so just as well the Antlers serves decent food at reasonable prices. Lots of historical photos and information about Jura to browse while you wait too. Good home baking. Worth a visit!

Was expecting great quality fresh food . But very disappointed . Looking forward to local mussels but off the menu . Scallops were fresh but the sauce let it down and the bread was stale and expensive . Both in the end had fish and chips , that was two very small pieces of fish each , couldn't hardly see any fish , most likely frozen due to the texture and appearance . Staff were excellent and beer was good

I am giving you an excellent review based on previous visits but arrived Thursday 14th November at 11:15 and it was closed. Website says open at 10:00 and opening time on door says 10:30. Several people left disappointed during my 20min seat on bench. Off to Port Bannatyne for my brunch. Can you update your opening hours on door and social media platforms.

What an absolute find. This place was amazing in every way. The staff are welcoming, friendly and so attentive. The food was out of this world. Would definitely recommend 100% and will be back. Just wish we had found it at the start of our holiday and not at the end

Met up with a friend for lunch today. ALWAYS reliably happy with our meals at The Esplanade over the many years.... But today's young chef was very astute with his skills. We had *Cullen skink, the baguette was fresh and warmed....so often it is not; (it's the little things like this that make you come back,), *fish n chips, and *incredibly chunky steak pie, with a lid rising up to the ceiling I'm my opinion all 3 meals really were the best examples on the island. Well done to: *The Esplanade for keeping up the standards of quality which bring people back * The Chef * The always friendly and helpful waitress 😁 (Love the new curtains and furnishings 😁)
