Friendly service, and tea top up on request- my go to place for a cafe in Helensburgh! Bijou and full of character. Love the loo wallpaper!

Great wee cafe for lunch. Toasties are yummy. Always go there when go to HELENSBURGH. Friendly & helpful staff.

The breakfast roll was great, however the atmosphere was smoky from cooking & left our clothes smelling.

First time here and will undoubtedly return. The pancakes are immense and very reasonably priced.

Childish rude staff and chef encourages this behaviour even though she's old enough to know better won't be going here again

Ordered breakfast rolls to go and they were very tasty. Service was fast, the actual place is pretty small but there is an option to eat outside which is under cover!

Good food and coffee and friendly staff located in a central location. Only issue was the slow service at the outside seating.

Food is amazing a little gem of a place in the heart of Helensburgh

The foods usually reasonable. The problem is that they put take away breakfasts on paper plates in a bag. No box, which means the beans spill everywhere or have their sauce soaked up. I called them to complain and I got the most ignorant women I've ever spoken to on the phone. Her "Well that's the way we always do it." Me "Well it's spoiling the food" Her "not my problem. It's the way davie does it so I do it the same way" Me "can you not use a box?" Her I first did it when we were out of boxes, so now I don't bother with boxes for breakfasts" As I said the foods nice, but the attitude from some of the staff is appalling. Especially when they have made such an obvious screw up.

Really felt I was ripped off, IT was over £16 for a 4 item breakfast and a cheese and ham toastie the smallest black coffee that was though to be with the wee breakfast and couldn't see any white in my fried egg (EGGS ARE WHITE) not recommended would have been cheaper in the riva greasy spoon with Holton prices didn't tally with the price on menu

Decor nothing to write home about but lovely and warm on a cold morning. Service was excellent and they made our doggie feel at home. The food though was excellent basic but large portions and well cooked and tasty. Beware though, the American pancakes are huge. The coffee is the best I have tasted for a long time. Not thin and watery but rich and mellow. Well done folks.

Ordered tuna toastie & cake. Half way into eating toastie i came across 2 hairs on my plate 🤢. Totally put me off. Didn’t enjoy cake either. I notified a male member of staff who apologised for there being a hair in my food. Wasn’t even offered a discount or refund. Disappointing experience Won’t be back

It’s a great breakfast with excellent quality sausages from the local butchers. Service is always good and it’s never too busy.

I ordered the Full Scottish Breakfast. It didn’t come with Link Sausage, so I ordered them as an extra. It was a big portion which filled me up. I especially liked the Haggis and Black Pudding.

This seems to be the only dog friendly place in Helensburgh. And serves great soup and toasties. Haggis and fried egg rolls also a favourite. Quick service, pleasant chat makes for a very pleasant lunch spot. Thank you

Cracking cafe. My go to place for food at work, never had a bad experience. Can’t beat it for value for money and the staff are always very friendly. Highly recommend it.

Friendly staff, clean cafe. This is a great cafe, with possibly the best lentil soup in town.

Dreadful experience, too many staff all working at odds with each other, complete chaos, the quality of food depends who is cooking, have been a few times but this will be the last.

My partner and I ordered tostie to go, waited for 20 mins, still no food. I told the guy I had to catch a train in 4 mins but he just said it's coming, didn't check with the kitchen or anything. Not helping at all. We had to run to the station without the tostie that I ordered.

Crispy breakfast rolls here are very good and so is the coffee. Great value for money.

I am a regular at this coffee shop and must say that reading the other reviews i felt compelled to add mine. This is so much more than a coffee stop, the care for their regular customers especially older people living alone is really heart warming. They make a point of checking up on anyone who does not show up at their usual time for a couple of days. They also support the local community in so many ways. I am sorry that some people have had issues but i must stress this is not the norm. Please think again and pop in in the future. So many people would miss it if they were to close.

We have always liked the Terrace Café and often pass by for hot chocolate when in town, so today we thought we would try their all-day breakfast. It was served hot and we commented that the ingredients were clearly of a good quality and we complimented the young man who served us efficiently. We were happy. When the bill came I was a bit confused at how it was laid out and so I asked if they could explain why it appeared that a single slice of toast was costing me £1.75. The older man working there was amazingly and unexpectedly aggressive, telling me that I was charged the right price and that I should not complian. I was not complaining; I just did not understand the bill layout. I explained that and he became verbally abusive and aggressive to the point that I expected him to lunge at me. I asked him not to be so angry as the bill was probably correct, but that I just wanted to understand it. It then all got out of hand. He told me he does not have to explain and that if he were being aggressive I would know it. Wow! That was a threat if ever I heard one. I admit, at that point I went out of my way to wind him up, telling him what a strong man he was and how impressed we would all be if he were to beat me up as he implied that was his intention. It was a shame that he reacted that way because I had no cause for complaint, but I do not always get things right the first time, so I ask for clarification. I see no wrong in that. I was confused because the menu stated that extra breakfast ingredients, including toast, were 85p each and it looked to me like I had been charged £1.75 for a single slice of toast. I hadn't and so all was good, but the aggression persisted. I must ask who the mathematician was who costed out a slice of bacon, an egg, a slice of haggis, a slice of black pudding, a single slice of potato scone, a tomato, a spoonful of baked beans and a single piece of toast and worked out that they each have the same value. Really? I would like to know where the Terrace Café buys such cheap, great quality, bacon and I will stay away from their rip-off baker albeit the bread and potato scone were good. I was not ripped off and I did not have a bad breakfast at all, but I was flabbergasted to have been verbally attacked and threatened when I simply asked an innocent question. I know the customer is not always right, but give him a chance to be wrong before verbally attacking him. Is this really how the Terrace expects to glean new business? I would have liked to return, but as long as this lout is in their employ I shall give it a miss. I do not want him spitting in my food and I fear that it is just this kind of poorly educated yob that would consider an argument won if he did just that. Oh, and they might want to clean the place up a bit. Large cobwebs dangling over the customer seating area is not comforting at all.

Been here a few times and the food is great. The young staff are run off their feet but are very friendly and helpful. Just a shame our lunch was tainted by the old creep in the back bullying them. Should not have to be tolerated, and made us feel uncomfortable. Wonder how he would like it? Plonker.

Used to love coming here for breakfast or lunch. I will NOT be returning after the cheek of a certain member of staff. After visiting with my partner and son for some lunch we were told we couldn’t have the buggy and high chair which was fine. We put the buggy down. We then placed our orders and was asked if I would like some juice, I replied with no thanks. I did have juice on the table and was told I couldn’t bring my own which was also fine, I still didn’t want to order juice so I said ok that’s fine. Which could’ve been left there but he replied with “if someone came to the hairdressers with their own dye you wouldn’t do it would you?, it’s not being your own” the absolute cheek of this member of staff is disgusting. To which my family got up and left. Just sheer rudeness & no customer service skills at all. Disgusted and certainly will not be back again.

Great traditional breakfast, lovely cakes and coffee, friendly staff, highly recommended.

If you want to try a full scottish breakfast in Helensburgh come here. Haggis, black pudding, potato cake etc It has the feels of a greasy spoon cafe but it is the real deal. Better value than others. Helensburgh is expensive for food . Great deal for a sandwich and soup.

Have popped into this nice Coffee Shop twice in the last week and was not disappointed. Cappuccino’s were great, as was the hot roll in link sausage. Staff were very attentive. No problems whatsoever. Will be back. ☕️

We have use the terrace coffee shop before so we returned today. We were meeting a third person and commented to another customer that maybe they could move a table over a bit to allow a third at the table . This was overheard by a chap standing at at door he informed me in a slow manner that he couldn’t do that because of social distancing and that he didn’t like my suggestion so I wasn’t welcome in “his” cafe . Even if he EVER managed to complete a customer care course we would still never return and wouldn’t recommend The Terrace to anyone

On a recent visit to the town we ate breakfast here each morning on the recommendation of my son who is local. The staff were great and the food was excellent and we know where to eat on our next visit in a few months thank you all.

Food was excellent as usual, service from younger members of staff great but the Owner/manager must have been having an off day as his customer service style was off par and generally being discussed amongst all the patrons today. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

A quick stop for tea and a filled roll. Friendly, helpful, quick service and delicious, fresh ingredients, well prepared.

Brilliant breakfast. Should have tried it years ago. Thought I knew breakfast spots in Helensburgh. The square sausage, haggis and potato scone were full of flavour not full of additives. Highly impressed.

Very good menu selections and good service from the staff. Indoor and outdoor seating, and definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

We discovered this little gem as we frequent Helensburgh often. The rolls with square sausage are cooked to perfection and are the best square sausages I’ve tasted in ages. We always buy two each as we enjoy them That much. The cakes are to die for. If your up for the breakfast you won’t be disappointed it’s fabulous. Most of all this wee gem is very reasonable well done to you all. If your ever in Helensburgh look it up it’s terrific value for money and it’s in the square so you can get a seat too when weathers ok.

We had an all day breakfast, American breakfast and pancakes. Great good and brilliant service. Staff were extremely polite and accomodating.

A very friendly coffee shop, most helpful staff who produce a cracking breakfast. Good COVID-19 precautions. Also ideal for quick cups of tea/coffee with a good selection of cakes. Looking forward to the next visit!

Called for a fried breakfast and got a nice one. Small inside but out the weather is nice there's a pleasant outdoor seating area. No complaints :-)

We arrived @ 4.30 pm. Saw all day breakfast. 10 items on it, Partner had pancakes & Bacon. Both were perfect, 😋 taste great, Large Cappuccino, Cake zero, Friendly service and quick. All for less than £15.

Stopped off for a toastie and coffee. Its a small cafe situated in the square. Feel sorry for all small businesses like this during the Covid pandemic so don't want to give them a hard time but even allowing for the fact we sat in the outside seating (:the cafe is very small inside), I would have thought they would have asked for contact details? Seating was spaced out, staff friendly, you order outside and pay in advance. Toasties were nice but coffee was not great. Tables clean and sanitiser on hand.

Lovely little coffee shop, nice menu and happy staff. Best time to visit to sit outside is the morning or late afternoon when you're more likely to get the sun.

First visit after many years and a change in ownership. Enjoyed the Lasagna and coffees and the waitress was very pleasant. Not often you get a free top-up on your coffee either!

Helensburgh is a favourite place to visit for my wife and I, as we both have fond memories of holidays spent there when we were children. However, due to various circumstances it was some considerable time since we had last been. There was initially great disappointment as our favourite eating place was no longer in business. On the advice of a 'local' we decided to try 'The Terrace' and were very satisfied with what we encountered. At first I had concerns because we had to sit outside, not that I am averse to such seating, but because last time we ate outside in Colquhoun Square we were inundated with seagulls trying to steal our food ! Fortunately this time we were not subject to such harassment. My wife had the 'wee breakfast' while I had the 'Full' version. The food was very good as was the accompanying coffee. The square slice sausage took me back to my youth ! The service was also very efficient. An unusual feature, and one I was glad to see was the notice, at each table, stating that time at the table was limited to an hour, in order to accommodate other customers. I always find it very frustrating to regularly be unable to find a seat because because certain people use the table as a computer desk, or to read papers for prolonged periods or just to chat together at length, when their meal is finished. It is so unfair on the owners and others who just want to enjoy the food !

We visited The Terrace coffee shop with a view to having hot chocolate, but as I waited outside for my two cups of hot chocolate to be given to me I decided I may get us a couple of sandwiches too. However, I looked in and saw the cook with no hat, no gloves and no mask touching a ready-to-eat sandwich that he was plating for immediate service. During these strict pandemic times I would expect operators to do more than the basic food safety practices such as a chef requiring to wear a hat. Every precaution should be made to keep customers safe from the COVID risk.

Lovely to sit outside and have lunch. Also get a visit from the ducks at times.

Awful food and service! Got the order completely wrong and came out with an aggressive manner and when I told him that the order was wrong, seemed to believe it was my fault and that I should have accepted it with great pleasure! Real shame though as everyone else in this town was sweet and pleasant! Maybe the wrong man for front of house service (lack of service even)

My husband and i pop in here regularly since we moved to Helensburgh in 2018 I have had breakfast and lunch here and had morning rolls to takeaway The lentil soup is bar far the best and the latte with caramel is delicious always leave with a full tummy and the staff are lovely

The staff are so friendly and there is always a great atmosphere in the cafe. You’re always made to feel really welcomed when you visit. Brilliant service and food.

The Terrace is nearly always full, so this was our first opportunity to have breakfast there after several attempts in the past. It is a tiny restaurant with minimal seating and the menu is very limited, but everything is prepared/cooked to order, so food comes hot and tasty. The only one negative was that the sauce bottles looked as though they had been there for a long time and had never been wiped clean, so dry, hard ketchup and HP sauce looked very unappetising.We would go again. The prices are reasonable and the girl serving was very hrlpful and friendly.

This place is a well kept secret in Helensburgh, home cooked food, fresh home made soup and staff that look after you! Oh and not to forget the prices! You won’t believe them! Go visit, you won’t regret it.

We visit this café whenever we visit Helensburgh as it is great value, with good food and hot drinks. Nice people providing good service. A little gem in the town!

I was recommended to go here after asking people where to go for a good breakfast.I couldn't find it to start tucked away in the main square so I stopped and asked a lovely couple who said come away and sit with us.We had such a good time and as the morning progressed more people joined us.We had a right little party.I had the wee breakfast which was great. You could choose what you want and so cheap. And they burn the bacon.Yes It is the best crispy bacon ever. None of this namby pamby sloppy bacon with white fat rubbish this was good old fashioned burnt to a crisp bacon how everyone likes it.I am ashamed to say I liked it so much I followed it up with a bacon roll and took 2 out for my husband.The owner is lovely friendly and helpful. The staff are great. Coffee is good this place is a hidden gem.Thank you you are fantastic x

Stumbled across this cafe when searching for some breakfast when staying in the area. Very friendly staff, and the breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. Black pudding and haggis, yum! We visited with our two children, both enjoyed their food as well. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd seek out out. I live in Southampton though it's a bit of a trek.

This is our favourite cafe in Helensburgh and we try to come here every time we are visiting town. Had mini breakfast today and it was magic - perfect fried egg, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes- all Free Food on the SlimmingWorld scheme!Pot of tea with pot of water gives you lots of tea....this place makes me feel happy!

Great wee cafe , went here yesterday and ordered carrot & red pepper soup with chicken tikka sandwich both were delicious. This was good value for money £ 3.85 , it is small inside so probably have to wait , we arrived about 2 pm and managed to get a table. Waitress was friendly and attentive , will definately return again .
