It’s more of a good cafe than a restaurant and it is also a caravan and motorhome site plus wigwams ( colourful wooden weatherproof huts). It’s at Braewick not Brae which is 15 miles south. It has all the facilities that a caravan/ motorhome site needs. Electric hook up, drive over drains, black water disposals, clean water available, good parking surfaces. Problem is it takes a bit of finding these facilities! Even the pitches take a bit of locating as only a couple are numbered. All the rest have been washed off, blown away etc. The showers are looking old and are difficult to manage. There is a playground and the beach is 5 mins walk but bear in mind this is 1000 km north of London, nearest neighbours are Iceland and Norway so the water is refreshing.
But the views are spectacular cliffs of red rock and in the sea a set of rock stacks (the drongs) look like a Viking longship turned to stone. Wonderful to look at at midnight. You might see Foula, 40 plus km away. There are blow holes through the cliffs, take care. The Northmavine musicians play at Hillswickplus informal dancing for a great night out but it’s a 5 minute drive or an hours walk. Great place just needs an update.

Steak was great, although patatas bravas must have been microvaved because it was so hot it burned half of my jaw, I was really considering going to dentist and seek more medical advice. I couldn't brush my teeths, or eat on the right side, so it's definitely microvave food. We asked for mojo sauce on patatas bravas and it tasted nothing like mojo sauce. Very expensive.
Food was fine but seating area was cold and staff were shouting to each other and delivery drivers making it a very noisy environment. There was only our table and one other seated but we could hardly hear each other speak over the loud rabble
Next time we'll order a takeaway and eat at home in peace and quiet as we did enjoy the food
Stopped in for some lunch today. Friendly service with a good and varied choice of menu. Offers half portions of meals if more suitable. Brilliant value. Hot and cold options available. Felt like the teapot was bottomless, think it was 3 cupfuls in total!
I ordered a takeaway from here and it was really delicious. Easily the best tikka korma I have ever had. Everything ordered was enjoyed by the family. Only negative was the chicken pakora is tiny strips and a very small portion for the money. But thats just personal preference.
So thought we would pop in for food at 8 pm , it was quiet , got table no bother - but the place was cold , but I had heard the food was good .
The service was poor , , food was mediocre the samosa was solid , nan bread was not fresh and £5.80 for a 330 ml bottle of lager ... Really ?
The table next to us left as it was so cold
Many much better Indian restaurants nearby
Sooo sad that this wee gem of a cafe has closed. We always went inpast on our way down to the awards in Glasgow and our trips down south. Always such a delight to visit.
You will be sorely missed for your wonderful soups, sandwiches and lovely home baking.
All the very best to you all for the future in whatever you choose to do.
Took my daughter here for a quick burger after a day out.
Supposedly didn't have any kids cranberry juice that was on the menu (or in fact any other of the kids drinks, orange juice, apple juice or fruit shoots), but had the adult orange juice (a glass of from concentrate orange juice) for £4.45.
Served up chips with no condiments, and then looked extremely put out when I asked for some ketchup. A thimble sized portion then appeared.
Been wanting to try this place for a while, but definitely won't be back. Doesn't matter about the quality of the food if the service leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
Came for brunch place full of locals plenty of food options had food envy when you saw what others ordered. Nice fresh cakes on offer place was bigger had a downstairs part with some overflow tables a couple of larger family groups.
Amazing bunch/breakfast... Went for two Big Yins and they didn't disappoint. Black pudding was best I've ever had, melt in your mouth. Defo will be back in future.
