The 43 Latin Steak & Grill House in East Ayrshire

I can't believe I've never tried this restaurant before. I ordered the mixed grill and a kids burger meal to takeaway. It was fantastic. The lamb, chicken, prawn, and vegetables were so tasty. I also loved the rice. I wanted to order more, but i took it home. My son, who is so picky, finished all of his burger and fries. The friendly staff also provided free churros for my kids while we waited and my wife ordered a margarita. I will definitely go back for a proper dining experience as I loved the decoration, too.

Went in there tonight by chance. Did not regret it. Delicious food, friendly owners and staff.. Can't understand why not more people use this restaurant. Highly recommend.

We just visited The 43 for the first time, as we fancied something different to eat than the usual fare in Kilmarnock. My husband and I love Mexican food so this was right up our street and it didn't disappoint... The food was really tasty, good portions and reasonably priced. Service was good too. We'll definitely be back!

Myself and my partner tried here for the first time tonight and definitely the best food place I'm kilmarnock, got the burrito and my partner got steak fajitas and were both delicious, huge portion very good value, staff were amazing and produced service with a smile

One of the best Mexican Food restaurants I have been. Very affordable and tasty foods. Must try if you are in Kilmarnock. Awesome staff as well. Definitely recommended!!

We are regular customers to the 43 Mexican restaurant and have always had a wonderful experience! The customer service is always delightful and the food is even better. A truly hidden gem of Kilmarnock!!

Again in mexican and steak house last night for a meal....this time with friends from Norway. As always...food exceptional....Service exceptional also. I am there regularly with different friends and family and am never disappointed. Will be back next week with a friend who I go regularly with! Can't recommend this lovely restaurant enough.........the best place ever.

First class, great portions(big) freshly cooked. Only negative waitress was unsure of what what drinks available. But we gave her 3 choices and she came back with 1st choice.

We had a really lovely meal, starters were nachos and halloumi fingers. Both were fresh and generous portions. Mains were chicken and chorizo skewers and rib eye steak. The chicken skewers came out sizzling and was very flavourful. The rib eye steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned so well, hardly had any need for the sauce on the side as it was so juicy. The margaritas were delicious and as nice as I’ve had anywhere. The host was very friendly, couldn’t fault the service. Would highly recommend

Staff super friendly and amazing food. Pulled pork nachos, really tasty and full of filling. For main the pulled pork tacos, steak fajitas and chicken chimichangas just the same. Would definitely return. Great value for money.

We tried this place for the first time at the weekend and it was delicious! The portions were a good size, the food was extremely tasty and it was delivered on time…….couldn’t ask for anything more, would highly recommend!

I arrived in town for work, after walking around I found not many places to eat other than takeout. Then I stumbled on this place and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a Wednesday night and early doors and it was quiet but it soon started to have more diners. I ordered the chicken and chorizo skewers and it was fabulous. I was big enough too, I couldn’t finish it to be honest. The host was lovely and the interior was vibrant. Definitely worth a try.

We a plate of Nachos to share to start and burritos for main. As good as Tex-mex ever gets. Big plate of Nachos with loads of cheese, guacamole and salsa, Really big, well prepared burritos. The staff were lovely.

Found this place for family dinner. Wow best Mexican food. Fajitas were amazing. Couldn’t finish as such a big portion. Cocktails amazing great value for money . Definitely visit again.

We arrived to an empty restaurant. Which is by no means a bad thing at all in this case. Sometimes when you walk in places and nonody is in dining , it makes you think "ok is this gona be bad". But remember this is us just in Level 0 from Covid so a lot of people are still using the takeaway feature as we quickly noticed. Our waitress was lovely and took good care of our childrens requests and explained about what might be too much for their pallets. I had a Chilli beef chimichangas and my wife had a chicken one. My youngest had quesadillas and my eldest a chicken Burito. The food was delicious. We also ordered churos for dessert. Highly recommend anyone visiting the area to give this place a try.

Was recommended this place bu someone local so gave it a go. Was not disappointed. The starters were fantastic, main courses, mainly steaks were well presented and lovely. Service was excellent, good interaction and jypust can not complain about this place at all. Will definitely be back.

I’ve placed an order with this “restaurant” twice now for it to be cancelled with no explanation. The first I had ordered on the 9th Nov and the order was cancelled 30 minutes after placing it at 1:30pm. Tried phoning the restaurant 2 or 3 times with no answer. Ordered again today for the order to be cancelled yet again. Phoned twice, second time was answered to be told they had changed the opening time for the restaurant from 12pm to 5pm just for today. Not good enough. If you don’t deliver don’t advertise it. Take yourself off the delivery website!

Very tasty Mexican style food. I especially like the chilli beef and burritos. Went with a large party of friends and staff coped well and were very friendly.

Driver sat outside my home for 10 minutes. Then starts shouting that I must collect. Having a small baby in the house I called the "restaurant" and was asked why I couldn't just leave the baby to go down and pick up from this aggressive man. Call was recorded and I certainly won't be back

My self and my husband come here when we are in Kilmarnock for our date nights. Always fantastic food and service. However today we decided to take the kids for the first time for a family meal. And we were not disappointed! The kids had popcorn chicken which looked so nice i nippled on a bit and it was so tasty! Great kids meals! And my ribs where cooked to perfection! My husband loved his meal. And I can’t recommend the Calamari enough! It’s still the best I have ever tasted! 5 star restaurant and lovely staff!

Been to this a good few times now and will be for a good few times again! When I want good ribs and wings this is where I go. Tried the chimmychungas for the first time and they were AWESOME, had the quesadillas last time and it was great also, consistent good food from the chef, he sure knows how to cook! Thank you chief

I wish I could rate this restaurant more highly as the food is very, very good! Starter of Prawn and Choritzo was very tasty and good to look at. Main course of Mixed Beef Skewer, served with salad, chips and a slightly spiced sauce was truly excellent. The chef here really, really understands how to cook beef, and you should go and try it. Shredded Pork Burger also gets full marks

Went here for dinner on Wednesday evening, service was excellent, staff polite and the food, cooked to order was superb. Will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone.

Had been meaning to try this place for a while. Everyone we know who has tried it really liked it. Finally got round to it and were not disappointed. We found the service to be excellent from start to finish so quite surprised to see some negative reviews about the service. We shared nachos for a starter followed by a skewered chicken dish and beef chimichanga. All the food was excellent and the presentation amazing. Very reasonable prices too. We will be back very soon.

I could sum this visit up in one word.. disappointing. My husband booked a table online for Valentine's dinner, when we got there they had no note of our booking. This wasn't a problem though as on one of the busiest restaurant nights of the year the place was only about a third full. Although it was quiet we waited 30mins to be brought a menu. We both ordered the specials from the board, a 14oz Tbone for hubby and a 10oz lamb kebab for me. Another 30mins passed before our food was brought out. The lamb was cooked well and was very tasty, the Tbone was small had broken bone running through it and on both plates there were very little accompaniments. We ordered a second round of drinks whick were delivered to the wrong table and the order was wrong. My hubby went to the restroom and found the hand-dryer was broken, when he mentioned it to staff they admitted it had been like that for weeks but no one had thought to supply handtowels or get it fixed. We went to pay the bill to be told the cash register had been stolen and we were given a hand written invoice. All in all as I said at the beginning... DISAPPOINTING

The food was incredible, the staff were helpful and friendly and it was reasonably priced for a really good meal.

Food was excellent! Staff were lovely and we had great service. The meal was the best I have eaten in Ayrshire! Would highly recommend.

After wanting to visit here for ages I finally did last night (28.01.18) and was exceptionally disappointed.

Liked the concept,and the food was very good:but the room was not warm and when one of the staff was wearing a jacket and hat as they served you, you know there's a problem. Yes it was December and freezing outside, but I'd have liked to have sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the decent food without feeling chilled.

First time visiting was blown away with the service and food, really good, the chef is lovely and he can cook Gordon Ramsey would be proud. Had the sharing platter starter ribs, lamb and chicken wings were mouth wateringly delish. Steak main was a four steak platter favourite was the who am I kidding all of them were cooked perfect. Everything was accompanied by home made dressing sauces and salsa. Cocktails were lovely and at three fir a tenner why wouldn't you definitely be back soon.

Went for dinner after work with two friends, spectacular food at cafe prices! The food was the tastiest and best value for money I have had in a long time. Second only to the service given by our waiter Paul Glass, courteous, polite and knowledgeable about the products. We all left planning when we are going back!

I don't understand why it is always so quiet as the food here is excellent. Steaks were cooked perfectly and starters and sides tasty. On a Sunday you get a free tapa with your pint. Three course meal deal has lots of choice.

We went for food on a Saturday afternoon. A shame for the place that it's so quiet, as tthe food was Great, and they threw in some complimentary chicken wings which were tasty. I had a chicken skewer which was well marinated in tequila and lime, and my girlfriend had a quesadilla which she enjoyed. This place should be busier than it is.

Felt disappointed as no rib eyes left and were close to leaving. Thank goodness we didn't the food was amazing we had sirloin. Starters lamb skewers meatballs and chicken wings. Delicious. Decided on sirloin and enchiladas for mains. I had 12oz hubby had enchiladas son had 24oz sirloin. Cooked to perfection. Chef came out to see if everything was ok what a nice touch. The waitress was so friendly and pleasant. All round a great experience. So for all you foodies get this place on the market. It's 10/10 for us.

4 of us went in and there was only 2 other people in we ordered starters which were fine then 3 had fajitas which again were ok I ordered a rib eye steak but was given sirloin with no explanation given even when I said it was a different steak from what I ordered not only that it was like leather . My friends thought it was not great but ok me I won't be back

Went here for a Father's Day meal. Food excellent, service excellent. Normally I would go for a curry but delighted I tried something different. Friendly staff can't do enough for you. Thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Very disappointing, decor was like from 3 restaurants ago, place looks tired and dated, waiter, although friendly and very pleasant, looked dirty and unkempt with a shirt that looked like it had been put through the ringer! We ordered chicken wings and ribs which were nothing special, then the sharing platter, it looked nice when It arrived but was stone cold, shouted the waiter over who then touched the meat with his bare hands to check.......then said he'd take it away and heat it up, we asked if the meat he had just touched would be reserved and he said yes!!!!! When reminded he had just touched all the meat he replied oh it's ok my hands are very clean........well judging by his appearance I was doubtful, so we swiftly paid for our starters and drinks and left.

I booked table near window cos it's cosy. I told chef Sandjp Adhikari that it was our anniversary & he was very attentive. We didn't want starters until he asked us to try chicken wings .OMG, they were delish, just sucked meat off bone, that's how tender. Ordered steak each & were cooked exactly as requested. Not to be outdone the dessert of toffee & vanilla cheesecake was outstanding.

Staying in Kilmarnock on business I decided to give this place a go, a fine decision it proved to be. The food was delicious, the service outstanding and very friendly.

After having home deliveries from this place for months, my partner and I decided to visit the restaurant in hope that the quality would live up to that of the deliveries. We were not disappointed. We were presented with a drinks menu which boasted an impressive cocktail selection. I started with a daiquiri Cuba and he had a mojito. Both were very different but tasty. The mojito was one of, if not the, best I've had so we had a couple more of those. We were given chips and salsa while we looked at the menu which was a nice touch and the salsa was really delicious. We had the calamari to start which was also delicious and served with a lovely dip. For main I had the fillet of fish which was sea bass. My partner had the steak skewer. Mine was served with veg and potatoes all well cooked and really delicious. The fish was cooked to perfection with a crispy skin and soft flaky fish. My other half was impressed with his which was served with fries and the restaurant's amazing slaw salad. We didn't book a table but we were warmly welcomed by staff who continued to be very friendly and helpful throughout the evening. We are glad we decided to pop in as the experience outdid our expectations and having the food made fresh for you and served piping hot was better than having it delivered. We look forward to paying another visit soon.

This was the first time we visited Kilmarnock and this restaurant, me and my wife was pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem in here. we had 3 course meal which was only 13.95, which we thought was great for a meal that included sizzling fajita.

Been a wee while since we've been in and with the new menu felt it was worth a further review. New to the starters were the lamb chops - good choice. New to the mains was the chimichanga - had the chicken one and must say it was really tasty. For a busy Saturday night the service and food did not disappoint. Thanks to the 43 family for another lovely evening.

I have been to this restaurant about 10 times since it opened last year. I generally order the flank steak and it has never had any fat. This weekend the restaurant was full and I would say has now made the transition from a young developing restaurant into a business able to deliver high standard food under pressure. The staff are very friendly and at quiet times the chef will also take time to speak to the customers about the food and ingredients. If you like steak, this place is good quality and good value with a Latin twist and well worth a visit.

Passing through Kilmarnock and stopped here on a local's recommendation. Wow! This family-run restaurant boasts prompt, friendly service and - most importantly - heavenly food at terrific prices. I can't recommend their chimichangas and their beautifully decadent churros highly enough. Scotland was the last place I expected to find world-beating Mexican food, but this hidden gem completely blew us away.

My partner and I visited tonight on a word of mouth recommendation. Absolutely not disappointed! Our host Serita was hospitable, charming and very keen to speak to her customers. The food was freshly cooked and delicious. Adequate portions and not expensive. We will hurry to return and highly recommend

Visited here several times and tried a variety of different things and the food is 10/10!! Favorite meal so far has been the cheeseburger which is to die for!

I got a delivery from this place yesterday because i fancied trying a different place from my usual takeaway i got 2 cheeseburgers and 2 steak burgers they were awful the cheeseburger was dry and flavourless could have made it better myself then there was the steak burger it came with 3or4 thinly sliced pieces of steak (overdone) on a brioche roll with 3 rocket leaves and i would say a teaspoon of caramalised onion both came with about 20 overcooked chips all of this cost just under £35 so you can bet it will be the last time i order from here

My daughter raved about this place after visiting yesterday so my husband and I attended tonight and were not disappointed. The food was outstanding (possibly even better than outstanding). The staff were absolutley lovely. When you go (and you must go) I highly recommend the corn on the cob, fajitas and chicken taco's. We will most definitely be back. My husband and I visited this restaurant for 1st time and we weren't disappointed. We both had steak and it was cooked exactly as requested which doesn't always happen. Nachos & chilli dip as nibbles was a nice touch. I had a few cocktails which i hadn't tried before & very enjoyable. The ambience was nice & relaxing. We were served by Ujjwal who was very polite & friendly. The young lady whose name I never got was lovely too. The only downside was we weren't thanked for our patronage and asked to return ( maybe just an oversight) I would also suggest they should check more often to see if more drinks are required.

Was in for a second time and it didn't disappoint it was the best meal I've had in Kilmarnock the staff was excellent and very friendly felt right at home had the sharer which was huge and sooo good then I had the chicken faitias wow my husband had steak and couldn't stop talking about it can't wait to visit again and I will def be telling my friends where to go highlight of Kilmarnock

A real hidden gem of a place with easy to miss frontage, but well worth seeking out. With really friendly service and an appealing menu it is hard not to enjoy the food. I ate on my own (away with work) but was made to feel welcome and it was no trouble to discuss the menu and the options. The meal itself was superb, I had King Prawns to start and a chicken skewer which was really tasty, accompanied by a beautiful chipotle mayo and house slaw. Recommended for great value, well cooked food and thoughtful service..

Just visited for the first time as a party of 7 including my 9 year old son. Great service and friendly staff, and excellent fresh food , we all ordered different items to share and taste and all were delicious. We weren't rushed as other restaurants often would to get the table back so we thoroughly enjoyed a leisurely family meal. We will be back- lots more of the menu to sample!

This place is worth a visit as it provides a great food, great service and an enjoyable ambience. Friendly people, as my wee one was not a bother to them and you can enjoy your meal feeling comfortable. That's all I would need to go out really. Will be back.

Wow we found this place thanks to TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed. Had wings and empanadas to start, with fajitas and quesadilla for mains. It was amazing. We would come back just for the food (and we stay an hour away!) 5 star food and service too!

We visited today as a party of 20. We received excellent service and the food was superb. Authentic food prepared freshly for us - I had chicken wings then ribs, both were excellently seasoned and cooked. The only problem we had (over-spicy soup) was quickly resolved by the chef with no fuss. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but I am already looking forward to going back. Don't be put off by its location in a somewhat run-down part of town, nor by its unassuming decor, this hidden gem is worth a visit!

I went here on a Monday night, they run a 50% off starters on this night. The food was absolutely gorgeous, the chorizo starter especially! The tacos were really good and wine. This is such an amazing place to have in Kilmarnock and the staff were just so lovely and attentive to us. Absolutely recommend, we will be back many times.

We were lucky enough to try this delightful cosy restaurant during the week and were treated to great ambience and friendly service with the sound of topical music in the background. I've been privileged to have travelled extensively in Latin America, and 'The 43' did not disappoint in terms of an authentic dining experience; lovely fresh food prepared in good time with an extensive menu to choose from. Get to know it soon before it gets too busy would be my tip!
