My husband and I came here for lunch on Friday. We often have coffee and cake here so we know it’s good. We both chose Highland Melt Panini, which has Cockburn Haggis and Mozzarella, served with side salad and we also had a portion of their special fries. Our food was delicious, served by lovely waitress. Very busy when we were there, some tables reserved. Definitely recommended.

It's obviously a very busy establishment but we found the customer service lacking. We were greeted by a pleasant young waitress who tried to sit us at a free table. An older woman boomed down from behind the counter, saying, 'can't sit there'. We didn't know where to look, including the waitress. It was very embarrassing as she also said try the back room, then 'no you can't sit there, they are reserved. Needless to say I doubt we will return

We were looking to have our lunch here and were being shown to a table when all of a sudden a loud screeching woman screamed across the whole restaurant from behind the counter 'No, they can't sit there, it's reserved' She was so loud and everyone turned their heads in our direction! How embarrassing for us and for the young girl who was showing us to the table. This screeching woman was quite hideous in her manner - No words of apology, just screaming across the floor at us!!! The young girl then led us to a table out back but came back a minute later and told us this table was also reserved. We just left and certainly will not be returning BUT whoever is in charge of this establishment, have a word with the screecher and get her to do some customer service training!!!!!

Terrible service with incredibly rude woman in charge at the main counter screaming at the nice young waitress that was trying to help us find a table. She was shouting no they can't have that. Were shown to back tables but told that we had to leave as reserved. That is understandable but rudeness, shouting and embarrassment is not what I would expect for Highland service. I would not recommend this place for that reason alone, despitenot eating here as no respect for customer or fellow staff member at all

We visited Dingwall after our tour at the Singleton Distillery. I looked up possible places for lunch and was recommended the Courtyard Coffee Shop. Be sure to use sat/nav or Google maps because it’s not visible when driving through the small town centre. It’s effectively behind the shops! It can be accessed from the car park at Lidl. There’s space for outdoor dining but we ate inside the airy and clean coffee shop. We enjoyed the soup and sandwiches ( and can get a half sandwich/ soup combo which was generous) as well the excellent bakes. I think you can get bacon rolls and other brunch items most of the day. Friendly and efficient service, well worth a visit.

Acoustics inside made it a little bit noisy when we arrived but settled down as a group left. We only had drinks with a bacon roll and chips to share, but other dishes such as panini and baked potatoes looked to be good size with plenty of choice for fillings. A bit more expensive than equivalent places but probably worth it for the paninis / potatoes. Staff efficient and friendly.

I stopped in here for one of their all day breakfasts and it was one of the better ones I've had. A cooked breakfast is pretty straight forward to make but so many establishments get it wrong but this place nails it. You can tell the produce they use is of the best quality and cooked well. For a small place they have quite a varied menu to suit all tastes and some of the cakes they do are just awesome. Thought might just get a coffee and cake, although it was after midday. It was busy and obviously popular with locals, but we found a table and looked at the menu. Soup seemed a good option, and there were two on the board, both of which would suit, if made with veg. stock and without gluten. Were thrilled to find that both were suitable, so actually had a choice - not always the case for gluten free vegetarians! Was delighted to be told that they always made their vegetable based soups that way and they always had at least one available. Brownie points were stacking up.

If she said " sorry, I'll come to you in a minute to take you order" that would have sounded much nicer. Then, on making it clear we were only looking at the cakes at the counter, I made the mistake of asking a question, I should have know not to interrupt.... then some customers came in, they also were standing around not knowing what they were meant to do...the waitress looked at them and without saying a word, walked into the kitchen and if felt like some minutes before she came out,...

I come here on a regular basis for lunch. They have a wide variety of lunch options and are happy to tailor choices to personal preference. The baked potatoes and panini's are delicious and all of which are served with a dressed side salad. I love the latte's in here because I find that it's usually very difficult to get a latte without it being warm supposed to hot, but the lattes in here are always perfect! The waitresses are all fantastic, especially the middle-aged woman with black shoulder length hair. The only thing that stops this place getting 5 stars is that the younger girl, With an anchor tattoo on her neck really doesn't seem interested. A shame! I do intend to visit again, fantastic for a quick lunch, but expect it to be busy at peak times!

This cafe is fantastic it's virtually always busy. Great food and drink choice and prices are in keeping with what you would expect. It's a shame it's not in bigger premises. It would be nice to see the menu change but I still love it here.

I visit regularly for coffee and for lunch. Menu for lunch offers soup, baked potatoes, sandwiches, etc and usually has a special on the board. They cook to order and are willing to alter to suit personal taste. Baking is the most delicious in the area and has a good number of choices. Staff are superb - friendly and efficient. Gift shop has some lovely items but is upstairs so not accessible to everyone. Well worth a visit to this café but expect it to be busy at times

This is a good place to meet up with friends, yesterday we had lunch. Souperwich is a bowl of soup and a small sandwich. Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash soup was my choice and our friend chose the Garden Pea and Ham. Good selection of fillings for sandwiches and Panini's, served with a small side salad. Excellent selection of cakes and tray bakes that are always fresh. They also do "specials" of the day and baked potatoes. The staff are fantastic, friendly and quick to clear tables. This cafe has two rooms and yesterday they were both full. Nice gift shop upstairs sell quality gifts and cards.Definitely recommended.

Possibly the best soup I have tasted. Warm and friendly atmosphere. The main meals looked scrummy too. Cakes and coffee excellent. Special diets well catered for. Warm and friendly atmosphere inside or plenty of tables outside. Situated off the main shopping street, close to Lidl.

Every time I have visited The Courtyard and Coffee Shop and Gift Shop the staff seem to be very friendly. I am a Wheelchair user and whenever the Coffee Shop is full of people they try and make way for me to come and have a table by asking other people if they could kindly move onto another table so that I could have their table and they do actually move for me which I think is really nice. I was there last Friday with a friend and I really enjoyed my visit. The food is always delicious and so are the cakes. I highly recommend this coffee shop to anyone visiting Dingwall

We were passing through Dingwall on our way to the west coast. We had "home made" soup and sandwiches followed by freshly ground coffee and "home baking".The standard of the food was excellent and the staff were quick and very pleasant. We will be back next time we are in Dingwall

We normally holiday in the North of Scotland and have been visiting this cafe for around 4 years. The staff are always pleasant and all the food is extremely good. We particularly love the Orkney Fudge Cheesecake but have also breakfasted and lunched here and have never been disappointed. The gift shop upstairs is like an Aladdin's cave of unique gifts with a wide price range. Love it.

We regularly eat here for both breakfast and lunch. Food is always great, something for everyone and daily specials. Also lovely cakes and desserts! Girls are always friendly, good value for money. Fantastic gift shop upstairs, a wee Aladdins cave with lots of out of the ordinary things.

It is hard to go into Dingwall without my wife dragging me in here. Not that I need to be dragged mind you! The coffee is excellent and the baking on offer, whilst perhaps lacking in presentation, is really nice. A particular favourite of mine are the date slices - I've never had better anywhere! A typical cafe breakfast and light lunch menu is offered and the quality is always good. This is a no frills cafe with basic tables and chairs arranged in line to make best use of the space - but don't let that put you off. The quality of food and drink is excellent and it is served by efficient and friendly staff. The cafe is popular with locals and justifiably so.The gift shop upstairs has a nice range of decent quality items and is well worth a browse.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !
