The Coylton Arms is turning into a real favourite of ours. We’ve eaten here quite a few times this year, which included twice in December.
It offers an extensive menu to choose from, plus the staff that serve you are always really pleasant and not afraid to offer their opinion on the food you fancy.
Prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food and the restaurant is really nice inside. There is also an adjoining bar if you fancy a wee pre-meal drink. A family run business, well worth a visit 👍
Went into the cafe after never visiting Kirkcudbright. Was greetd by a lovely young lady that was friendly, took our order and had a wee chat.
Food was beautiful. Home made soup especially, and desserts.
Lovely homey feel.
Wow what a great place. If you want to feel like a local come to this restaurant. It was quaint in a great location and amazing food. Best scallops we ever had. Incredible whiskey selection, the best we’ve experienced at a restaurant.
Visited with family and were warmly welcomed. Friendly staff and tasty food. Their Tuesday deal on pizza and pasta made an excellent meal very affordable. Lovely pizzas all round!!
Booked a table for two people, turned out was a very small table at a door opening onto the road , steady flow of customers meant continual icy blasts.
Waited approximately 20 mins for the order to be taken and the a further 25 mins before the food arrived.
Steak pie with chips and veg was very good , served on very large plates meaning no face to face dining.
Decided not to have dessert due to the wait time, the draughtiness, the dog barking and the baby crying ( bad day when the baby was taken out and the dog stayed ) as well as a two hour limit on the table.
Payment was at the bar achievable after ploughing through the masses. Seemed to be only 2 staff serving .
Overall really nice food at a fair price served in unfortunately a very noisy environment with ridiculous wait times.
Don’t understand this dogs being allowed in food establishments fad, leave them at home where they’re not getting trampled on and give the rest us a break from barking and all other things that go with them.
I saw this online and it looked very cool and the food looked amazing. We arrived, in the middle of nowhere. I questioned going in. But my nephew assured me if it wasn’t the same place we could leave.
OH.MY.GOD. It was the same place. This is an absolute case of do NOT judge a book by its cover. The inside is SOOOOO cool. The staff are amazing. The food portions are huge… and absolutely sublime. There are games to play. 100% cannot recommend this place highly enough. Worth the detour.
Spectacularly good. My folks owned a fish and chipper back in the 70s. So I know my fish n chips. This was the best I have ever had. My wife had seafood penne. Fabulous flavours, really nicely done. The ambience is great. The staff were great. Was here a few years ago and it was okay. It is not okay now ...it's brilliant. Someone running a tight ship here! Highly recommended!
Being really picky on food I saw the fish chowder advertised but hesitated ...if it's not done well it can be horrible.
OMG this luscious chowder arrived creamy perfection with great chunks of fish and some asparagus spears as extra through it.
The taste consistency and presentation were sublime ....wayyyyy above my expectations.
Wrap was really nice. Chicken tikka wrap is more like a tandoori wrap. Would definitely get that again. Chips very very mediocre and the coleslaw is literally abt 2 tablespoons worth. I’ve had better for less. Quite pricy for what it was!
Had a tandoori mixed grill with madras sauce and friend had Chicken biryani with a korma sauce! Absolutely delicious and staff remembered what l had previously .Service excellent, and free spiced onions and poppadoms lovely ! Great meal as usual that's why l travel from Ayr! 5*

Restaurant was busy and had good friendly busy atmosphere with a lovely aroma and warm.
Starter and main course food were very good and generous servings. Sweet menu looked liked it may be bought in, so didn't have anything.
Sadly service was a bit hit or miss; mistake in main course that was quickly rectified, forgotten drinks order had to be reordered, and a bit slow, but as i said it was very busy, maybe even full.
Helpful staff, and customers were happy and relaxed.
Spacious, clean and comfortable.
An enjoyable experience, will go back and would recommend.
Thank you for a lovely meal and pleasant evening.
