Stayed here whilst walking the the 3 lochs way. The rooms were clean, bar staff very friendly and helpful, the food was good and the prices were fair. However, vaping was allowed in the bar, and that is something I strongly dislike, which is why I am giving 4 stars and not 5.

This is a lovely little place for dinner. Basic menu but everything was well cooked and delicious. Staff are funny. Lots of locals at the bar after work. Give them your business if in the area.

On the lakeside in the town of Garelochhead, it presents itself very well, the owner is very friendly and approachable like the rest of the staff. The rooms are located behind the pub; They are really well renovated and have everything you need. In the pub you can have breakfast which is chosen in advance, and you can have a good dinner and watch TV on site. One of the best arrangements so far

The anchor was a fantastic place and I strongly recommend it for a family stopover if exploring that side of Scotland. Rooms were spacious and clean, staff was very friendly and accommodating and we had a great evening with food, drinks, dancing and karaoke in the pub. Thank you to all the staff at the Anchor!

We booked a table before our visit to Scotland and it was confirmed the following day with a friendly email. When we arrived we were greeted with a welcoming host and shown to our table. The service throughout was excellent and the staff there were so friendly and thoughtful. They made our family feel very welcome and comfortable with good humour and warm conversion. Inside is warm and spacious with a real log fire to get cosy round! The food was fresh and tasty, and prepared exactly as we had asked. A delightful experience, cheers guys

Room was great, good view, still could have been cleaner with mould in the bathroom and a little pricey at £95 for single occupancy. Other guests kept slamming doors late into the night. Would not recommend eating there. I had nachos where the salsa was clearly out of a tube and out of date. It was fizzy. I mentioned this to the bar staff as I was paying but still gave a tip since I wanted to support a small business. Bar staff said thank you for the tip and “the salsa can’t have been that bad then” which I don’t think was the right thing to say.

Great, quiet and cosy hotel. The staff is friendly, funny and polite. Was visiting around the area. Stayed there on Sunday Easter. Rooms are spacious and clean. There also a nice bar, kitchen closed early but you can still have drinks.

My partner and I came for the food hence no review of the rooms here. This is the first time visiting but I love it here. It’s a cosy pub with the most friendliest locals we’ve come across. Plus, it has a gorgeous roaring fire, perfect for the cold months. The bar staff is a really lovely guy, and well, the food was sublime. I recommend the salt and pepper chilli bits, they were gorgeous. My burger was really delicious, just a few too many chips for me 😆 All of this at reasonable prices. Would highly recommend.

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place
