Walked in without a reservation this evening, the restaurant looked pretty busy, a lot of tables reserved, however, they seated us straight away, she’d said it might take a while to take our order, but we could have a drink while waiting. Hardly any wait at all, great meal, cosy restaurant,and really nice service. Recommend booking if you can as it was busy & I believe kitchen closes at 9pm.

Stopped in for lunch, the seafood chowder was full of flavour and great value. The fish and chips two bits of fish and the homemade tartare sauce delicious. Would defo recommend if stopping in Tomintoul.

The Clockhouse fully merits its reputation for fine dining in the Scottish genre. I dined there after a long day's drive and was wholly uplifted by the experience: a warm welcome, attentive, well-paced service, a menu of variety and imagination, and a congenial atmosphere. I dined on tartlet of locally-sourced mushrooms followed by the venison special which was spot-on in terms of cooking and saucing. Wine selection was small but sufficient and offered by the glass, ideal for a lone diner. Staff was small but efficient. Entire experience was so very fulfiling.

Really good food served by two of the loveliest, hard working staff ever! The Clock House is a restaurant I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

This restaurant is homely and very comfortable with tasty food and a friendly welcoming service. The food is cooked to a very high standard and presentation is on the same level! The meals were cooked perfectly and for once I was thankful to find that I could taste each ingredient and it didn’t blur and hide into some spice concoction that hid the food you were eating. Absolute honest, tasty ingredients with attentive hosts! I would one hundred percent recommend the clock-house restaurant to any one that is looking for a lovely dining experience coupled with a smile and some down to earth people! Remember to book ahead as they quite understandably are usually fully booked!

Very rude and torn faced staff an unpleasant experience not very accepting of children either,AVOID!!

Had a fabulous lunch. I hear dinner is great here too. Seafood chowder was amazing!! Had small portion but it was large enough and filling. The club sandwich came with fresh perfectly baked bread, crusty outside soft inside. The meats and cheese selection was lovely too! Very friendly staff. An amazing experience, the staff were great and really friendly, the food was of the highest quality at very reasonable prices, the atmosphere and decor in the restaurant was lovely . I would highly recommend visiting the restaurant if you are stay in or near Tomintoul

Came here for lunch with our walking group, having phoned to book in advance. Staff kindly rearranged tables to suit us and were happy to provide a mix of sandwiches and main meals, plus half portions for those with smaller appetites.

Found this a short walk from our guesthouse. I had the mackerel, it was excellent. The fish was juicy, the way the potatoes were done was new to me. Also the discovered the Black Gold stout, lovely beer.

Booked a table here for an evening meal. Menu wasn’t extensive but enough but tempt most, including a couple of good vegetarian options. Husband had the seafood chowder which he awarded 10/10 and said it was probably the best chowder he’d ever eaten. The rest of the meal was equally delicious, we ordered a salmon and a lamb dish, everything was perfectly cooked and perfectly served. Overall, a wonderful meal in a lovely restaurant, staff were great too. Highly recommended.

We couldn't miss this restuarant thanks to the banners, etc. The 'Lunch Time' menu outside had us confused for a moment only, but the lack of one in braille was a let down :-) The restaurant is very comfortable and most of the staff had geniune warmth, especially the slightly forgetful waitress. One efficient staff member seemed to be from the set of 'Trainspotting' and added a certain artistic frissance. The decor is very modern and interesting. You will be lucky it seemed to get a table without booking. The food was truly excellent and displayed artistically at a very reasonable price.

Excellent selection of quality food, friendly service. We stayed in the village in a holiday cottage Linn of Avon and the restaurant was two minute walk. If you are staying close by it’s a must visit

Visited for dinner whilst staying across the road in the Richmond Hotel, on a motorcycle tour of the Highlands.

Tomintoul isn't a big place. We were passing through it on our way to Grantown-on-Spey and stopped to look for somewhere to have lunch. We walked up the main street, and there on a corner was this lovely restaurant. The menu was displayed outside and reading it we couldn't believe our luck. Here was everything we wanted - Scottish fare at its finest! We went inside and were shown to a table.

Lovely place to go for outstanding food. And outstanding service. So so friendly and professional. Would highly recommended this place.

I really like this restaurant. The menu by the door looks kind of boring. However, there is a specials board, and it is tremendous.I could have eaten everything on it. Not expensive either.

We popped in here on a Saturday, early evening, and received a lovely warm welcome. We were able to sit outside in the food, and there was still table service! Wonderful. The Sea Bass was particularly special, but everything was good and we look forward to returning soon.

This lovely little Gem located in the middle of Tomintoul is a spectacular place, travelling home after hiking with friends through the Braemar hills we stopped off at this lovely place.

We walked around to everywhere in the village and this was the only place we could eat at. There was a cafe down the round that served bacon rolls and two very dodgy looking pubs. We were put off at first as we thought it looked too upmarket for us in our hiking gear, but having traipsed across the whole village (why aren’t there more places in a tourist hotspot?!) we came back here and we were SO glad we did.

this restaurant has a very extensive menu to suit most palettes, unfortunately for me I have a very plain palette but was able to order of the kids menu in an adult portion and still got my ice cream. It has some lovely desserts also
