I ordered a cake and cupcakes for my 50th with a photo of me on them - Dan and Ann went above and beyond with the cakes - I was over the moon with them.
What a great find... lovely welcome, very friendly and quick service. Great breakfast choices... gluten free no problem...loads of variety, well presented and served with a smile. Nice place to sit with plenty of space between tables...not packed in like some other cafes. Good value... and it also is fully licensed. Fantastic family business.
Lugar encantador, comida encantadora. Toda la experiencia se vio empañada por el hecho de que asumieron que daríamos propina, y también asumieron cuánto e incluyeron en la factura. Carecía de clase. Fuimos en agosto de 2023.
Afternoon tea here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Best afternoon tea we have had any where ! You get 2 hot meals , vegetarian option available, and a selection of Siritas wonderful cakes.
Their selection of loose leaf teas is unbeatable, with top ups available. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, the staff are wonderful! Afternoon tea is a must for any celebration or just treat yourself.
We visit here quite often from our home in co Durham, it's well worth the drive. Our favourite please to eat out.
Booked via WhatsApp. Reply came back quickly next day, all booked. Arrived on busy Saturday, greeted immediately and taken to table. Cafe is series of rooms and outside area open in summer, we were seated in room at rear with view of garden. Like being in lovely dining room in someone’s house. Throughout service was first class. We have breakfast, served until 1130. Sausage sandwich on really fresh granary bread. Just lovely. We will return, the highest was the service. Just how it should be.
Amazing food and service. Everything went really well. Chicken tikka dansak top notch. All our party said their food was delicious. Spotlessly clean, friendly and welcoming.
Lovely atmosphere from the moment we walked in on a wet damp Friday in February
Staff were attentive, helpful
Monkfish bites & Crispy Beef were delicious, I had the flat iron steak, cooked perfectly, tasty, the ribeye was excellent
as was the Chateaubriand!
Two of the party had dessert the Baked Alaska & Rum babas both were plentiful & tasty
The only criticism I have is one of the party had a Brandy to finish, he was asked by the young lady would he like it warm, when it came over it hadn’t been warmed, we told the young lady who apologised, took it away brought it back on top of a glass with warm water, I’m sure you have one maybe just popping glass on a brandy warmer would be much nicer
A lovely meal with family will definitely be back
Just had tea and a cake with my lovely work colleague friends. What a gorgeous little tea shop this is. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff armed with a hot sample of winter tea. They also had delicious vegan cupcakes and all of the treats were beautifully presented. To add to the experience, all of the teas, coffees, infusers etc. are available to buy. The shop itself smells of delicious things and the ambience is mellow and inviting. I was so impressed and will definitely be visiting again. All of the staff are super friendly - thank you ladies for a lovely afternoon in a perfect tea-lovers heaven!
Take away or eat in, the food and service are outstanding. There is a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere in the bar & restaurant and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. Needless to say the food is delicious. If you’ve not been, don’t hesitate. 😋 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Excellent food. We had Nepalese street food. It was beautifully prepared and not just run of the mill ghee rich gravy sauces. The waiter was friendly and helpful. We had four different plates a desert and a cup of chai and it came to £40 so also really good value.
Highly recommended.
I found the green cow kitchen @ Crumplebury very underwhelming and the experience is highly missold.
Firstly, the concept of calling it a chefs table when in reality you’re being sat in a large room on a long table with about 20 other guests was a big shock. There was no personal experience nor were the dishes introduced over the sound of other guests on the table.
I’d like to bring you attention to the definition of a chefs table: A table located in the kitchen of a restaurant, reserved for special guests and allowing them to see the chef at work and sometimes to be served a tasting menu.
I’ve experienced some great restaurants and when you read what you may experience from a particular restaurant you do normally experience exactly that. In this case I feel like it is very much over compensated with the wording online.
The food was genuinely sub standard. The courses didn’t seem anything special, the flavour selections were interesting. Nothing wowed me about the food, drinks or service.
I had some conversations with the guests that were also awfully disappointed, however, they did say they have had better experiences there at Crumplebury in the past.
One positive about the experience is that the grounds of Crumplebury are nice, on a farm and very nicely lit at night.
So sad to hear that our favourite tea rooms has closed. Thank you to Suzy, Dave, Ryan and Teresa for being so friendly and welcoming to our family over the past few years. As mentioned by others your scones were simply the best and all food, cakes and drinks so lovingly prepared. We were so glad to have been able to make one last visit during October. There was nowhere else we would have made a 180 mile round trip to visit for sure. Wishing you all the very best for the future.
