Four of us came here in early November to celebrate my birthday. From the booking through to actual service it was wonderful. You can bring your own wine and pay corkage which we did but ended up just having some of the excellent organic wine from the wine list. There was lovely bread and olive oil on the table which disappeared quickly. I had cured trout for starter, hake for main and a posh Eton mess (my best description anyway). All the food was fresh local produce, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The most surprising and very pleasing thing was the bill. At around £55 per head including wine and service it was extremely good value for money in this day and age. I would most definitely look to book again when we come to Cornwall next.
Friendly staff, great service. Beautifully decorated with an Easter theme. We had sandwiches and hot melts, all very tasty.
The coffees were delicious too.
Really enjoyed the visit, thank you!
What a beautiful tea room set in a covered little courtyard. We discovered this place after reading amazing reviews. The scones are home made and absolutely delicious with a fresh filtered coffee. Although slightly hidden away, it is well worth a drive for afternoon tea
Fab friendly cafe! The best scone I’ve tasted in a long while, and served with proper cream and a yummy jam. My partner is coeliac and said the GF cake was great.
Excellent coffee too :)
Honesty amazing staff
I went in with my 5 month old and the staff where amazing with both of us . Helping me move my monster of a buggy and made both of us feel very comfortable. The staff was quick to get me a highchair and a cushion for my bubba so I could order and eat my meal ( which was divine , dairy and gluten free) hands free for the first time in a long time . The customers (regulars) were lovely to the both of us chatting away . As a single mum who's struggling to go out I'm so glad I went to The Wallflower cafe 💖 will definitely be back .
Great spot and delicious food, mackerel bap, falafel wrap, fish and chips, ice cream, delicious coffee, cannot fault this place and will be back in the summer. A great location and friendly staff.
I have to confess that I was blown away with the quality of the food... usually gatropubs are hit and miss... but this one is excellent and so are the staff
Booking is essential
We went with friends for a Sunday roast dinner and we weren’t disappointed the food was excellent the staff were very attentive and friendly. We will be booking again very soon
What a fabulous evening! The food was incredible, the atmosphere was amazing and the hospitality was impeccable. Thank you so much Sofia, James and Gabby. It really was a night to remember. Highly recommend.
Very disappointed by our visit to this restaurant tonight.
Friends had booked having checked online gluten free was available as I’m a coeliac.
We arrived stated I was coeliac and we needed gluten free and were taken to a table and presented with menus . When asked about gf the lady said she’d explain shortly .
She came back and said we can’t guarantee it’s safe to eat here for coeliacs as cross contamination is an issue . We said it had stated they offered gf options ie pizza etc . She said they do but cross contamination would be the issue. We said but if you offer options are they not prepared separately and she said no cross contamination would occur.
We said we would go next door to another restaurant and she just said ok.
Later we looked online as my friends said they had checked it out .
Comments on their website state “we offer vegan halal gluten free.” It also states “ we prioritise allergen safety with our practices regarding cross-contamination” Although it states “we can’t guarantee an allergen-free kitchen “this is usual and expected however the reference to cross contamination practices would assure us.
However in our experience it seems the restaurant doesn’t offer what it states or adhere to the promised practices.
It was very disappointing and a gf option did not seem possible from our interaction with the staff member
So coeliacs please note.
Why she went to the bother of seating us we do not know . She could have said at the desk when we asked at entry instead of the farce of seating us.
