What an excellent place to eat! Fantastic vegan and veggie food, very well priced and a fantastic range to choose from. It's only small but it turns out excellent meals and the owner and staff are second to none. Please give this place a try you will not regret it! Vegan dahl is outstanding. I've literally eaten in hundreds of vegan restaurants all over the country and this little place is up there with the best!

Visited during a short break in Buxton. Really lovely food, perfect for post-hike sustenance! The bistro is very cute and cosy. Had to get some cake after the soup of the day. Both were delicious. Highly recommend!

Passing through Buxton and its such a shame it's too early for lunch. Lovely place. Beetroot and Rose latte is gorgeous! They sell frozen home cooked pies with a huge range of choice. Brilliant alternative to a supermarket ready meal. Sadly I won't be near my fridge for 8 hours...

I'm getting to be a regular now. The welcome and the food choices are amazing. Absolutely outstanding food and service, always a delight to visit.

Fabulous little vegetarian cafe and so friendly and helpful. There were 7 of us twins one year old and our granddaughter 4 years old and we could not have been made more welcome. The food was excellent and great choices don’t miss it if you go to Buxton.

First timer. Glad my friend booked a table as people were being turned away as fully booked on a Saturday lunch time. Delicious vegan food. The lemon cake was melt in the mouth divine! Also bought a courgette curry from their wide range of take out food which was really tasty. Husband & wife run. Friendly & efficient service. Cant wait to return!

Our only regret is that we didn't visit sooner! Delicious home made food and the cakes are moist and delicious. The owner and server were very welcoming and friendly. We recommend people visit and tables can be pre-booked to avoid disappointment, as they get extremely busy. There is a freezer with meals to take away, should you not have time to stay and eat, or if they are full. Parking is limited outside on the street but there are several other car parks within a 5 minute stroll.

Fantastic food, and the cake was out of this world! The dhal was delicious, as was the halloumi wrap. The service was really quick and they were so friendly. A really lovely place to eat

Great little find that I wouldn't have known about if I hadn't spotted the sandwich board on the main street. Stopped and had lunch but lots of great choices. Also really pleased we could take our dog in with us too.

We have visited this lovely little bistro in Buxton a couple of times and we were very impressed. Very tasty vegan food that is freshly prepared, great choice of drinks and the cakes are amazing too. It is very popular so I would suggest that you book to guarantee a table, especially if you are a larger group.

Oh my gosh, this place is pure heaven!! As a vegetarian, it’s sometimes difficult to choose where to eat as many places unfortunately only offer a selected number of vegetarian dishes that tend to focus solely on salads or other really bland meals. (We might be veggie/ vegan, but we like carbs, people!! )At The Herb Garden, I was literally spoilt for choice!! Every single on the menu was totally indulgent and so varied… and all veggie with alternate vegan options too!There were veggie french bread pizzas (with either dairy or vegan cheese), halloumi wraps, goodness bowls with tofu, sandwiches…It just shows that just because food is meat-free, it doesn’t mean that it has to lack to taste or flavour. The combinations of the dishes were adventurous, debunking another myth that veggie food is limited and boring!I went for the dhal, which was absolutely DELICIOUS, and a generous portion, too. My mum had the french bread pizza with salad and also enjoyed.We had cakes for afters, and WOW!! The jam and custard cake was INSANEEEEE!!! You could tell it had been homemade and carefully crafted; it was so tasty and light- completely exquisite!In total, we had one ‘health drink,’ x2 cappuccinos, x2 mains and x2 cakes, and the whole thing cost just £21.Absolutely outstanding value given the quality and standard of the food!The service was also amazing! Andrew and the lady serving (didn’t catch her name - sorry), were so incredibly friendly, and really took their time to chat to everyone and make all of the customers feel welcome and valued. Truly lovely atmosphere that you don’t find often nowadays.The Herb Garden is absolutely faultless! I can’t wait to visit again - so glad we discovered this gem!

Nice selection of vegetarian dishes and homemade cakes and biscuits . enjoyed it enough to return on the second day of our stay for lunch too.

Reviews recommended The Herb Garden, and they were right. We booked (advisable) and had a delicious lunch, for me the goodness bowl with halloumi which was fresh and tasty. Fabulous cakes! We'd popped in for coffee earlier and had a preview, and we all finished lunch with a slice of the banana and coconut, moist and not over-sweet. Definitely our lunch venue next time in Buxton.

Discovered by chance when enjoying a stroll around Buxton. Fresh, delicious food. The owner and his wife are so welcoming and friendly. An absolute joy to find a vegetarian bistro. Book a table as lunch times get busy. Great place to go for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea (freshly baked cakes - I recommend the Porter cake)…or all three!

Popped in for an early lunch, simply lovely. Had the French bread pizza, each component was delicious. The star of the show was the ginger cake. The best ginger cake I've ever had, potentially the best cake I've ever had. 10/10 recommend.

Called in the Herb Garden for lunch. We throughly enjoyed our Bean and corn soup and bowl of goodness with Halluoum. You don't have to be a veggie to enjoy this eatery. Called back later for tea and cake. Can recommend the porter cake and key lime cake

Had a delicious late breakfast here and was given lots of tips for making my own vegan bacon - which I've done and is yummy! I'd thoroughly recommend a visit!

Goodness bowls, Nettle soup, Spinach and Hemp juice all fine but biscuit and cake is very good with pleasant service.

Took a gamble to leave the beaten track and follow a chalk sign to a vegan cafe. Always nice to get proper vegan food and were greeted by friendly staff with ace customer service. We ordered coffee and I had a breakfast with toast, beans, scrambled tofu, mushrooms and coconut bacon. Absolutely amazing. Full of flavour and texture with their own coconut bacon. My wife had a Victoria sponge which she said was fantastic and could tell it was home made. Shame we were on holiday and can’t make it a regular visit.

So friendly staff, busy and turning people away, lovely colours of food and my boys scoffed the biscuits I bought to take home and loved them especially the malted ones. My parents are not used to vegetarian but they enjoyed the experience.

Called for lunch at the Herb Garden whilst visiting Buxton. Easy to find just off the main pedestrian street in the centre. Only a small place so would recommend booking although the staff did their best to accommodate anyone turning up without a reservation.Simple menu based around sandwiches/wraps/paninis but all freshly prepared & cooked to order. Very friendly staff, great place for vegetarians.

If you are a fan of very tasty, fresh food served with care and in an unpretentious manner, this will suit you well. Ideal if you want a daily light lunch that won’t leave you feeling stodgy all afternoon. We were on holiday this week and went back to back days as it was the best lunch offer in town (closes at 3).

We enjoyed an excellent vegan breakfast served by very friendly host. The scrambled tofu was wonderful. Chef was very helpful describing recipes and cooking tips. Would be our first stop when we visit Buxton again - a wonderful experience.

Very friendly staff that make you feel very comfortable and at home in this lovely restaurant. The food is amazing, fresh and even share the methods of cooking with you to take home. We booked our next days visit as soon as we paid for the first and will definitely be back when we return to Buxton. This place is a gem

We took our 2 year old granddaughter with us. Delicious veggie pizza for her made fresh on a pitta instead of French bread. They couldn't have been more accommodating, providing a high chair, drink with a straw and children's books to look at. We had the veggie burger and the roasted cauliflower and chickpea stew. All very tasty. Wanted to eat here for ages, and glad we we're finally able to.

Dropped in on the off chance at 2pm to see if I could get a takeaway. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, and I could tell they were passionate about vegan and vegetarian food. Even though they had run out of a few things, they made me up a tasty salad box and I took away a piece of vegan cake. Both were delicious. We were visiting the area but if we're ever back, I'd like to come in for breakfast. Thank you.

We went there yesterday for breakfast and it was gorgeous. Excellent vegan choices and a great range of teas. They had a great selection of homemade cakes and we got some to takeaway to enjoy later on. The host was really lovely as well. Will definitely be returning here!

The service was fantastic, from the knowledge of the food from the staff, to the taste of the outstanding dahl and cake I had. So nice to have a place to eat as a vegan without having to search for hours. The cafe was very clean and the food was presented beautifully. This is a place I would recommend in a heart beat to any vegan or vegetarian who loves a variety of amazing dishes.

Popped in with my wife and was very pleasantly surprised. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was friendly and relaxed, just how we like it. We had a vegan chickpea and squash pie with seasonal greens and the potato skins with Moroccan beans and salad. Very reasonable price, very delicious food and very friendly staff. What else could you ask for?

I have eaten here a few times now and have been delighted with the food. Lovely vegan breakfast options with tasty scrambled tofu and their special Bengal Dahl is one of the best I have ever tried. It’s the best place in town for a great selection of vegan cakes too. They do a delicious specials menu which include home made vegan pies and the option to take away a pie of the day. Look out for their ‘taster nights’ which are advertised on their Facebook page. They’re always very popular and include a variety of taster dishes and desserts. They have a fab range of speciality teas and a good choice of coffees and soft drinks. Vegan hot chocolate also. The owners are a lovely friendly couple who have brought a much needed and very appreciated vegetarian and vegan eatery to the town. It’s located in the centre of town just around the corner from the main high street with some outside seating to enjoy the sunshine. The cafe can get busy during lunch times so booking a table in advance may be recommended.

Looking for a veggie option in Buxton we came across this wonderful eatery. Food was varied, fresh, and delightful. Service was excellent and friendly, which added to a wonderful lunch. Chocolate and cherry cake was delightful and my lunch of coronation tofu and salad was fresh and tasty. I would definitely return but sadly only visiting Buxton for the day.

Me and my partner came back to Buxton after not visiting for years, we were blown away by the service and the tasty food at this little spot. It is quite small but they are very Covid conscious and you can book in advance. Quick and reasonable priced food the cakes were delicious and too tempting. The young lady who served us was so friendly and guided us through the veggie menu, she made our experience enjoyable. Overall great experience. Will definitely visit again.

This tiny little cafe tucked down a side street is a little gem. Friendly staff offer a great selection of veggie/vegan food to eat in or take away. The falafel salad, cooked to order, was really delicious and very reasonably priced. Cakes all looked wonderful too. There are very few tables but you can reserve in advance.

Stumbled upon this gem . We aren’t vegetarians but can spot good tasty food and this didn’t disappoint. Got here at 11.45 and it was full by 12 as only 4 tables inside and 2 outside. Excellent value too

Just had lunch, two of us with our little dog. Fantastic to have such lovely food, Peak District can be tricky for vegetarians. Great vegan choice too. Owner and waitress really friendly. A real treat and excellent value.

We stumbled across this cafe while walking around Buxton. It’s tucked away on a side street just off the main high street. We thought we’d give it a try as it’s so rare to find completely vegetarian/vegan places. We were greeted by the most lovely owner and had a fantastic breakfast. As it was sunny we sat outside and watched the world go by. We were made to feel at home, which is what sets this place apart. Delicious food too!

Came in for breakfast as had seen amazing reviews online and we were not disappointed. greeted by the friendliest owner and made to feel right at home. lovely coffee and a delicious wholesome breakfast followed by a really lovely conversation with the owner that really made our morning ! great selection of food choices and cakes and drinks! highly recommend

This little caf is an absolute gem. I went in 3 days ago, as a vegan I felt spoilt for choice. The atmosphere was lovely, the manager was friendly and welcoming and the young lady was professional, hard working and always smiling. She couldn't do enough to make sure we had a perfect visit. The food was absolutely delicious, it was fresh and tasty. On top of all of this, it is so reasonably priced. I will definitely be returning and I highly recommend everyone to do the same! So glad I found this treasure.

Best place for vegetarian and vegan food I've ever found! They were fantastic at giving options for gluten free and dairy free individuals. Very warm and friendly service- we will be returning!

The food was delicious. Good variety of different vegetarian options even offered dairy products to include all. The amazing food was accompanied by great customer service and had a lovely conversation with the gentleman in charge. I recommend this café/restaurant highly. Definitely a convert to oat milk hot chocolates.

We got some food to eat in the park. All the dishes were really tasty, fresh and interesting. The tumeric latte is also delicious. It's our last day in Buxton today, so we are doing it all again!

Popped in today for a coffee and some breakfast. Really friendly atmosphere and great service. Had a large portion of mushrooms and tomatoes on toast which was very tasty. The cakes looked delicious as well and all home made. I will sample some the next time I pop in which will be very soon. Great to have a really good veggie cafe in Buxton and such nice staff. Took my mum for the 6-course vegan taster evening for a late birthday treat. Exceptionally friendly staff, faultless service and lovely atmosphere. Delicious food, loads of flavour and good portions for 6 courses! We were both very full. Great selection of 'posh' soft drinks and option to take your own alcohol. Will definitely be back!

We often visit Buxton but haven’t found anywhere enticing to stop for a bite to eat... up until now! We decided to ‘take away’ although you can eat in. We enjoyed two lovely fresh veggie bowls of goodness. The food was great and very reasonably priced too. The people running the bistro were very friendly. Thank you!

I visited the Herb Garden in June 2020, shortly after the business had opened its doors for take aways in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown. I had a tasty Buddha Bowl with crispy tofu, I especially enjoyed their homemade carrot chutney! The Herb Garden were obviously trying very hard to be aware of the risks posed by the coronavirus and had clear rules in place to protect their customers and staff.I look forward to seeing you again.

Good, wholesome imaginiative food cooked with care on the premises, served in a relaxed friendly environment. Very reasonable prices and good size portions. A very welcome part of the Buxton scene, well worth seeking out.

We visited the Herb Garden today, for the first time: the menu is veggie/vegan and the offerings, on both the set and the specials menu, meant both myself ( a lifelong vegetarian) and my husband (an omnivore) felt we were spoilt for choice when choosing our lunch. The food, cooked to order and totally delicious, was matched by a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. We were so impressed by our lunch that we ordered two chick pea curry pies to take home for our tea and they were fantastic too. Thank you and we will be back very soon to try your cakes!

Lovely vegetarian cafe. My husband is vegetarian and I'm not, but who needs meat when you can have great tasting fresh food like this? Plenty of vegan options too, including a moreish hot fruit crumble with custard. Just the thing on a winter's day! Prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. Conveniently located for Buxton's shops and the galleries, including The Green Man Gallery. We will definitely return.

I called in here twice during my three day stay in Buxton and regretted not making it three out of three. Due to the fact that it was close to closing time on both occastions I had takeaway wraps and they were absolutely wonderful, bags of flavour and perfectly seasoned. I had the coronation tofu one on the first occasion and the bean wrap on the second. This is a delightful little place with plenty to choose from on the menu, more than enough to suit all tastes. The owner was very pleasant and helpful and the food excellent value for food of this quality. When I am next in Buxton I will head straight here and allow myself more time for a sit down lunch.

Called in for lunch as a family of 4. Plenty of choice for both adults and kids. All coomed freshed. Friendly service and the cake was so good we took extra home.

The most important thing to say about the Herb Garden is that it serves exciting, freshly cooked food. We’ve eaten there three times now, and every time we’ve faced a difficult choice along the lines of “it all looks delicious, I could happily order any of the dishes”. Bright and spicy stir fries, warming vegetable casseroles, deeply flavoured soups, creatively filled wraps all feature on a regularly changing menu.Both food and drink come in both vegetarian and vegan options, but at the risk over over loading what is a very small bistro, I’d heartily recommend it to omnivores, bar those who require meat with every meal. This isn’t aveggie ghetto, its a bistro serving fabulous food

We arrived just after 3.00pm and the service was friendly and helpful. We had dahl, Persian Parsnip soup, Halloumi Wrap and Morrocan Sweet Potato Quesadilla . Followed by Coconut and Banana cake. All food and drinks were delicious, served promptly. This small place is a little gem... to be visited again!

Had a wonderful late lunch here, nothing too much trouble for the owner who stayed open late for us and supplied us with lovely food and was really warm and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

My partner is a vegan so we decided to go into the cafe, without looking at the time we went in and were turned away as we were advised they close at 3pm. There were 2 people sat enjoying their lunch still.

Had lunch here today for the first time. I chose the dahl and my other half had a bowl of goodness with crispy tofu. Both were superb, quick, tasty and super healthy too. Cake was needed afterwards, so a plump piece of rhubarb and custard was chosen - just delicious. Will defo be back.

I visited today with my daughter, I’d call her a flexitarian, I eat anything. It was lovely to have so much to choose from , to be honest I could have enjoyed everything on the menu and I struggled to choose. With dishes like those who needs meat.

We had been for a nice walk in the dales and were looking for some hearty soup and bread. This bistro added another highlight to the day. Absolutely fantastic vegetarian food. Top, top place... would love to know where the recipe for the chickpea and spinach spanish dish came from. Sublime. Look no further for your meal in Buxton.

Stopped by here for a late lunch. So much choice. I'm a vegetarian but I was with 4 other people who are not. Everyone extremely enjoyed the food, lots of selection and extremely well priced. The beetroot and parsnip soup was delicious. Highly recommend even if you are not vegetarian

Fantastic food, price, service and setting. As something of a half-hearted veggie, the best compliment I can give is it's encouraged me to be more disciplined in the hope I can produce food somewhere close to this! Will visit again when back in the area

Visited Buxton while on a camping trip in the area and found this place. Superb veggie & vegan food, excellent service and friendly owners. Great value too, and will certainly be back when we’re next in the area.

Discovered this little gem of a bistro whilst visiting Buxton. I had the bowl of goodness and hubby had teriyaki stir fry with mushroom noodle and both were super tasty. Chef/owner and his lovely assistant made you feel very comfortable with nothing too much trouble. And dogs were made welcome too . If only we lived closer, it would definitely become a firm lunch time favourite.

Needed somewhere that really understood 'coeliac' and 'gluten & oat free.' Here they do. Not pretentious, but a table in sun on pavement. Choice, quality and value for money splendid. Do try their 'bowl of goodness' Deserves to be a successful enterprise.

We are on hols in Derbyshire and went for lunch today. We had two Healthy Bowls which were a great change from the general cafe / pub fare we have been eating a lot lately on our travels. The owner was smiley and friendly - nice atmosphere there with some good music in the background too.

What a great find this Bistro was so glad we decided to eat here the food is amazing. I had food envy as my husband ordered the bowl of goodness great tasting food mine was equally as nice. The staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is to much trouble. If you are in Buxton I would recommend paying here a visit you won’t be disappointed,
