Sometimes Indian food from a takeaway can taste a bit 'samey' regardless of what curry you order. Here, it was very refreshing! The chef specials are definitely creative - chops hand was standout and the Keema pop fun! Quick service too.

I found myself having missed lunch with a long time to go till evening meal....and noticed this little gem on the other side of the road. 45 minutes later I was walking out the beneficiary of a superb coronation chicken sandwich (plus salad and coleslaw) and rejuvenating pot of tea. The price was a steal as well. Forget the chains and multiples, one-off businesses like this, passionate about what they do, win every time.

Did not regret trying Royal spice take away , probably one of the best Indian meals I have had , will be ordering again soon , and not expensive prices either ,

Fantastic little gem just outside the centre of York. Lovely friendly staff, very warm comfortable and well appointed rooms and a fab breakfast! Absolutely superb value for money in what is a very expensive city! We had a very comfortable stay and the staff could not have been m ore friendly or helpful. I will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend the Burton Stone Inn. Thank you for a great stay!

Called in to the Spa. Excellent service! Then went to the bar to have some light bites/small plates. Scallops were delicious & the oysters and tacos! Coffee also gorgeous too. ALL staff extremely helpful and welcoming! Just wish there was a pool but thatâs all! Worth a visit & very close to shambles etc!

You can tell immediately Dough only sells quality products, and we kept coming back for their sandwiches, both as breakfast and take away lunch. The staff were friendly and on great terms with all their regular clients. Definitely a good choice.

Avoid room 4, absolutely disgraceful. Mattress had springs that stuck in me so didnât get a good nights sleep.Carpet has an awful smell and grimy, bathroom shower needs refurbishing, curtains had holes in them with dirty brown stains. View of back grimy yard was awful. Large spiders web on light fitting. Was given another room which was acceptable but very small bathroom. Emailed hotel for refund for the first night but they said no due to giving me a different room. On a positive note breakfast was fine. Glad to leave.

This was one of the most memorable dining experiences of our 2-week visit to the UK. The atmosphere is amazing, with lighted dining bubbles outside and handsome dining rooms inside. More importantly, the food was incredible. The French onion soup and the brisket wellington were incredible. One in our party proclaimed they served "the best carrots I have ever eaten." The staff was incredibly friendly as well. Be sure to add this to your list and make reservations.
