Never tire of coming to Sherlocks. Its quirky, cosy and the food is great. Lovely cakes and scones and they also do nice savoury food and lunches. I still have my Sherlocks mug ! There are sometimes queues but most people brave them to get in, and its always worth the wait.

Bought lovely fresh cakes from shop / staff very helpful and smiling faces and attentive. However based on that experience we decided to go upstairs to tea room for lunch on a wet miserable day (Tuesday 9th July) a small queue - one couple in front of us - lady (supervisor?) behind the desk asked us if we had booked, my husband said no… She continued to prepare orders, help cashier who was clearly inexperienced at using til and completely ignored us and the couple waiting in front of us. The tearoom was not busy, lots of empty tables … she continued to prepare orders, we continued to wait, not a word to either of us 2 couples waiting to re-assure us she would get us seated! Having waited for over 10 minutes on a quiet day - I looked at my husband and said I was leaving and would find another establishment who I’m sure would welcome us and be happy for us to eat and spend our money with them. Bothams can take pride of your shop and staff but less can be said for how your tea room is managed …. Won’t be going there again !! Did not like her manner or attitude - maybe she needs further training in customer care !

The food is always superb, tonight we had chosen a meal from the Specials board. “The Whitby Chip Shop Board” I can’t stress enough how delicious this sharer board for two was. With mouthwatering fish and locally sourced sausages cooked in a light crispy batter, beautifully tasting cod and smoked applewood fish cakes, breaded Whitby scampi, mushy peas, gravy, bread and butter, triple cooked chips and tartare sauce. Definitely one to choose next time - let’s hope it’s a regular on the already extensive menu

My wife uses a walker. We had never been to the Deli before so were unsure how to proceed. The staff completely ignored us. It was as if we were not there, or invisible. Even as we walked out of the Deli, no staff member offered any acknowledgement of us!

Firstly, the positives - when we were finally able to purchase them, the roast pork stuffing sandwiches were tasty and generous for reasonable price - £4.50 at the time. Fast service and well located. However, my first experience was not so positive. Arrived over 1.5 hours before closing then after waiting in the queue was told they had run out of pork and the customer in front was getting the last sandwich. Your shop is called the ‘Greedy Pig’ so how can you run out of pork with still 1.5 hours left until closing time? They are only open limited hours 11am to 4pm, so you would expect around 2.30pm, not too far after lunchtime, that you would still be able to buy their speciality.

Visited with my husband and dog for tea. We popped inside but the chap said he would come out to rake our order. We sat at one of the pretty tables. We ordered haddock and the sausage and both were lovely. So nice to sit and have quality drinks too. Really polite and efficient staff.

We decided to buy fish & chips here because there wasn't a queue, in hindsight I'd have queued and waited elsewhere because the fish was awful, neither of us could eat it, it was really tough and we couldn't cut into it. The chips weren't great either more likely frozen because they were all exactly the same size.
