Carrying the wonderfully Victorian healthy vibe through to 2024. Excellent set-up! Ordered some baps for a friend down south, they arrived perfectly and it made her day 🌻

Marvellous food, from cheeses via breakfast croissants and ginger biscuits to the amazing Jap cakes - long may Botham’s continue !

We always visit Botham's for their lemon buns, but decided to try the afternoon tea in their tea rooms Had the afternoon tea with prosecco, excellent quality of the sandwiches, scones and cakes. Their own resolution tea was a lovely brew, and the prosecco was very nice. The tearoom is very traditional and staff were very friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend a visit when in Whitby

Bit of a strange one this! We made a point of calling into Bothams in Whitby, whilst on holiday there, to pick up some cakes which we know are totally delicious having tried them before. Our reason for 3 stars is purely because we also bought a box of their Resolution Teabags. What a total disappoi ntment. Weak, no flavour, not at all what we were expecting. Even considering throwing the box away it's that bad. Sorry for this review but was expecting so much more from Bothams!

Our waitress and front of house…Tracy was unbelievably attentive to our family with 2 of us having a nut allergy … nothing was too much trouble with preparations clearly made ahead of our visit to make sure our afternoon tea experience was served to perfection to the whole group. All servers were incredibly friendly, the food was fresh and exceptional and we would highly recommend the Bothams afternoon tea experience.

Love the the Skinner Street tearoom upstairs reminds me of Bettys in York. A truly luxurious way to take tea! The cakes are fantastic, so are the sandwiches, salads.. Well just everything they sell is! The selection of food is excellent and there is lots to choose from for all ages. The savoury tea is a must after a long day of travelling can't recommend it enough. The staff are amazing, very attentive and nothing is too much trouble!

Our first stop in Whitby from previous Tripadvisor reviews, we went upstairs to the cafe which was staffed by some really lovely ladies all willing to have a chat and advise you on what to order! We all had something different from a lovely lemon bun, scone and apple pie with drinks. We all thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back when we are back in Whitby.

Bought lovely fresh cakes from shop / staff very helpful and smiling faces and attentive. However based on that experience we decided to go upstairs to tea room for lunch on a wet miserable day (Tuesday 9th July) a small queue - one couple in front of us - lady (supervisor?) behind the desk asked us if we had booked, my husband said no… She continued to prepare orders, help cashier who was clearly inexperienced at using til and completely ignored us and the couple waiting in front of us. The tearoom was not busy, lots of empty tables … she continued to prepare orders, we continued to wait, not a word to either of us 2 couples waiting to re-assure us she would get us seated! Having waited for over 10 minutes on a quiet day - I looked at my husband and said I was leaving and would find another establishment who I’m sure would welcome us and be happy for us to eat and spend our money with them. Bothams can take pride of your shop and staff but less can be said for how your tea room is managed …. Won’t be going there again !! Did not like her manner or attitude - maybe she needs further training in customer care !

The cakes aren't that great and the lady who served me was really rude - I asked what a cake was and she answered very abruptly (no it wasn't busy - there were 3 servers and only two people on the queue behind me), so much so I didn't feel I could ask about the other and, as there's no signs, I ended up with something I didn't want (treacle slice - wasn't nice). My mum had a cream meringue which looked great but didn't taste that great (she gave it a 3.5/5). The pizza slices weren't great either.

Really disappointed with the service we received whilst visiting. The person serving us was interested in having a chat with her colleagues than speaking to me. In fact, she didn’t actually say anything to me until I asked her a question. Otherwise she just chatted to her colleagues, even when I was paying. Really shocked as it’s the type of service you’d generally receive at a larger supermarket rather than a small independent bakery.

Been here many times. Always good for coffee and lunches although no longer has that old world appeal. Staff are always pleasant

Glad we enquired about seating, we could see the stairs but had a pram - in face the cafe goes way back on the ground floor beyond the shop. Delightful cozy, warm and helpful spot. Really pleased we didn’t go into C@@ta and managed to get delicious snacks for the kids which aren’t too many calories! Lovely local business

A secret afternoon tea for my wife's birthday. The staff went the extra mile by putting nice birthday decorations and a handmade card on the table.The tea itself was lovely. The arrangements were made over the phone and everything went so well.Lovely friendly Yorkshire folk

I have no complaints about the sponge cake and hot chocolate I ordered, but oh God...the Americanization of this country is appalling. Patrons were greeted as "you guys", asked multiple times if everything was OK, and the credit card machine now asks for a tip. The Skinner Street tea room itself is pleasant enough but I have no desire to visit again.

Delicious! Great food and service as ever. Beautifully decorated with a vintage but contemporary feel. Menu choice spot on. Afternoon tea was a delight. A trip down memory lane for us all and did not disappoint.
