The Fisherman's Wife in Scarborough

3 of us called last night for dinner, and all had the cod, which was delicious a good sized portion of very thick white flakey fish, absolutely no issue with the food, the staff were lovely but the spoiler was the price of the drinks £6.70 for a pint of John Smith ! £4.29 for a 330 ml bottle of 0% larger and a bottle of coke £3.25 . You are seriously having a laugh. I expect to pay a little more than bar prices but that is ridiculous. If we had gone to Trencher which was our other choice for the evening the beer would have been £2 pint cheaper and the alcohol free larger £1 .29 cheaper . Unfortunately we won’t return Trenchers next time .

Short stay in Whitby by visiting Australians on what happened to be Captain Cook's birthday. No view in evening at this time of year made up for by well above average food & wine (proseco x 1 ; scallops with black pudding starter shared; halibut with lobster bisque/ medium fish & chips, merlot/shiraz & a shared dessert. Attentive service throughout. Thanks for a very pleasant dining experience.

First time short holiday in Whitby and came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday as we love seafood and we were not disappointed! The service, food, location and atmosphere all excellent, can’t recommend enough. We opted for the Queen scallops and prawn cocktail to start and the Fruits de Mer between us :-) We’ll be back the next time we’re in the area!

A very friendly welcome to a clean and well spaced eating area. Our starter of garlic prawns on toasted sourdough bread was excellent, but our mains of medium haddock with chips and mushy peas were even better. The food was piping hot, and portions were generous. Service throughout was excellent, and prices were very reasonable. If this was the standard for fish and chips, then the people of Whitby are very lucky. We would definitely go again.

Absolutely beautiful food. We both had the cod and chips and it was delicious. The staff are lovely, friendly and efficient and the restaurant itself was spotless and clean.

Thinnest fish... And it's not cheap. I've raved about this place for years... So disappointed. Will try once more if it's still a rip off will go elsewhere.

Visited twice on our trip to Whitby; exceptional food; freshly cooked and great tasting. First visit - mussels for me (absolutely fabulous, ordered as a main course and a super large portion) plus a crab salad for my partner (which he said was his best meal of the trip). Then next day haddock & chips (for both of us). All our food was amazingly fresh, very well cooked and just about the tastiest fish & chips in Whitby (even better than Magpie Cafe - in my opinion)

The Fishermans Wife, Khyber Pass Whitby We’ve just eaten at the takeaway hut of The Fishermans Wife , Whitby, gutted, 😩 very disappointed, tasteless chips ( suspect frozen? ) and thin over cooked cod 😡😩 feel totally ripped off; kicking myself, last time we ate here in January 2022, the food was fantastic, this was complete opposite, won’t be returning.

I have always loved Gravely’s/Fisherman’s Wife but today was a total disappointment the fish fillet was so small and thin and had obviously been cut in half it was so skinny it was like eating a piece of batter! Will not go again such a shame and so much competition total waste of money at £10.99!

We booked a table online, promptly dealt with by the lovely staff. Sat with a sea view. Very attentive and friendly. We had starters and fish and chips for main. Also a kids meal. The mussels were the best I've ever tasted and my father in law said his seafood platter was amazing. Fish was the best I have had in a long time. Would highly recommend. We had a fabulous time. We really enjoyed our lunch here during the school holidays. Whitby was heaving this day and finding somewhere to eat wasn't easy. but we kept walking and found this place right at the end of Pier Road, just up the Khyber Pass :-) So glad we pushed on, The food and service were great and they were very accommodating.
