Booked a table online which was very simple to do. We arrived for our meal and the staff were very welcoming and we sat at our table straightaway. Service was great and quick. We didn’t wait long for drinks and our starters came soon after. The main course arrived not 5 minutes or so after the starters had been cleared. A great all round service and highly recommended for nice Italian food.

Outstanding. We could not fault a single thing, the food is incredible, Liz is a wonderful host; her enthusiasm for the food and wine is amazing and she really took the time to talk to us about every dish and the wine pairings. Loved, loved everything. Please visit, you will not be disappointed

What a beautiful place! The best dining experience I’ve had. The food and drink are delicious and thoughtfully crafted. Everything about Pignut is unique, right down to the ceramics used to serve the food. A real treat for art lovers together with the paintings on the walls. The ambience was relaxing and welcoming, Laurissa is the perfect host and the chef Tom has created food that looks and tastes superb. Can’t wait to go back!

Lovely warm welcome from what I assume was the owner. My husband said it was one of the best sausage sandwiches he has ever had, good quality sausages. I had the gluten free bread with poached eggs, had to ask twice if it was gluten free as it was that good! Owner makes it herself. Poached eggs were perfect. Will not go anywhere else when visiting Helmsley. Little gem of a cafe that deserves to do well.

Salvatorri makes the best cocktails for miles around. In fact counties around. We live in Nottingham and there isn’t a single cocktail bar there that is a patch on The Angels Share. Salvatorri is a man who takes genuine pride in his craft and it comes through in his drinks. And the atmosphere is great too. Tucked away in the loft of Helmsley Brewery it’s a lovely intimate friendly place.

We dropped in after a ten mile hike so we’re pretty hungry. The place looked busy but had lots of empty tables so we decided to give it a shot. Ordering at the bar took some time as only one girl taking orders and making drinks. She advised 25-30 mins wait for food but I took a gamble and ordered. The food came in about 15-20 mins so not too bad but could tell they had been caught out by the lovely sunny day/1st March. Helmsley was packed! Anyway food was okay just over priced for what you get. Tuna melt ciabatta with some skinny fries (not homemade) and a small salad £13.50. Also if you’re paying those kind of prices should get something amazing but it was just average. Not bad but nothing special. No cutlery or napkins brought to tables and had to ask as none left in the little trays inside either. Sauce in hard to open sachets and loos were a bit untidy. Like I said think they were short staffed or caught out with weather.

On a busy Saturday night, the service was slow, we started with sourdough and labneh & dukkha, then shared their rarebit on a flatbread with a nice sauce, that was the highlight. I followed with cod and monkfish with mussels, the fish was good but the mussels with it were cold. My wife chose lamb rump which was also cold and was undercooked. We cancelled a second booking.

Your first challenge in Helmsley is choosing a cafe. There is lots to choose from. We decided on Manion and Co. (Based on the amazing-looking fruit scones in the window) We received a very warm welcome and were told there was a wait, but it would only be 10 minutes, which it was. The interior was full of character. I chose the pork sandwich, and my wife the sausage and egg sandwich. Both lovely. The sandwiches are expensive, but it is worthwhile when they arrive. They are worth every penny. I then ordered the scone I had been waiting for, and it didn't disappoint. I am a bit of a fan of scones, and this one is up there with the best. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. It is a lovely cafe; we will be back. How it should be done!

Stayed a couple of nights as B&B guests. Lovely big room and large ensuite bathroom with both a roll top bath and 'wet room' shower. Huge comfortable bed. Very enjoyable stay - the couple who own it went above and beyond in making it a delightful place to stay. Breakfast is in the cafe - they don't do fried 'English breakfast' but you choose what you want from the cafe menu. Good coffee - was needed after a heavy night out in Helmsley.

My husband and I have just returned from a fabulous Christmas break at the Pheasant Hotel - and it was wonderful to meet up with so many lovely people that return from year to year. The efficient hotel manager and his lovely staff, all go out of their way to ensure that you have a wonderful time, and nothing is too much trouble. A gem of a place, in wonderful setting!

We stumbled upon this place and couldn’t be more pleased! The food was excellent, and even the twins finished their meals—a rare win. The steak sandwich was the best we’ve had, and the cappuccino was an absolute delight. Our waiter was incredibly patient and polite, and the atmosphere, along with the music, made for a great experience. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you guys for a great experience!!
