We found this by accident driving through Hawnby recently, we were actually looking for The Owl pub but decided to stop off here instead for a light lunch and so pleased we did. The day we visited, it was a lovely warm September day so we sat outside in the garden across the road. I had a cream tea and my husband had a Cornish Pasty, both were delicious and the bill only came to just over £9, bargain! The set up of the tea room/village shop itself is rather quirky but this only added to the charm, we would definitely visit again.

Myself and 7 friends had rented Todds Pasture (beautiful holiday let) about a 20 minute walk away from the Hawnby Tearoom, for a 50th birthday weekend away. I contacted the tearoom to see if they could provide an afternoon tea for us on the Sunday. They said this was possible so i booked it, and we were absolutely blown away with what we received!! It was absolutely beautiful, the food was all home made, plentiful and they catered for 3 different dietary requests. We had prosecco to enjoy with the food, all in all, 10 out of 10! Highly recommend!

I understand that the new Owners have not been there long and are undertaking a major project to the whole building. We stopped for a coffee and the tea room was thick of dust, cobwebs and flies. No toilet in the tea room but we were kindly allowed to use their private bathroom upstairs. This was no cleaner that the tea room and the whole area upstairs was a wreck. I don't envy them the work that they are undertaking on but please if you are going to open the team room during major renovations, do ensure that it is clean and inviting for you customers.

Hawnby is really a hamlet rather than village & certainly off the beaten track. The Tea Room is part of the tiny village shop (not been in anything like this for many years & delighted that they can keep a business such as this going) and served by the same friendly staff. Excellent value for money & a surprisingly wide range of food given the constraints. You can certainly get a proper meal rather than just tea etc.

Visited Hawnby Tea Room today with family after a lovely walk around Sutton Bank. Lovely little place. Very friendly and welcoming - the food was cooked fresh from order and delicious. Can not wait to taste the chicken and leek pies we bought to bring home. Will definitely be back soon

This is a gem of tea room that serves delightful lunches and wicked lavender scones (make sure you leave room for one!). We ate inside, but wished it were a few degrees warmer so we could have taken advantage of the lovely outdoor seating. Best thing about this place, though, was the chat with the woman who makes it all happen (cafe and store). Her down-to-earth hospitality and the recommendation to take the drive to Osmotherley made our time there just that much more special. We'll be back!

Walking with friends in the Hawnby area, we called in here for some refreshments before setting off. The tea was nice and coffee rated excellent. They also made me a very nice roast beef and horseradish sandwich for later in the walk. Pleasant welcome for walkers, nice service and reasonable prices. No hesitation in recommending.

What do you want from a teas room? Good cake, lots of tea, friendly helpful people? Well this small tearoom provides all these things, either inside or in the secluded garden. In addition it is open all day starting with breakfast.

Coffee and tea lovely, in a gorgeous setting of Hawnby, but don't go for the sandwiches. Bacon sandwich was awful - dry, toasted skinny brown bread with under cooked bacon. Panini was better. Judging by other reviews we may have just picked wrong.

Totally unspoilt and unmodernised delightful little cafe with adjoining village shop and garden for sitting. A more than adequate menu for lunch at very reasonable prices. The shop was also very well stocked. The lower village is tiny, very peaceful and relaxed. A lovely quiet place to unwind in the sunshine after a walk; we'll definitely be visiting again!

Like going back to the 1950s (two old British motorcycles even turned up whilst we were there!). Plain food in a basic garden area on a lovely summer's day. My wife and I just loved it. Please, change nothing.

Un amigo mío me gustó mucho ella insistía en que ir. . . Y no me decepcionó. Pequeños, antiguos y muy tranquilo. No se ve afectada de 1950 ambiente. . Y los precios. De gestión familiar, totalmente sin pretensiones, amable. .

After a long walk last weekend we needed a bit of sustenance so called in for coffee and scone with jam & cream. Brilliant value for money 'proper coffee', we were given a full cafetiere which would have given us about six cups between just two of us. Scone and jam i'd say were both home made and extremely tasty. Will definitely return if we're in the neighborhood.

Stumbled across this tearoom tucked away in a picturesque village after a muddy but enjoyable walk! We can really recommend the pork and apple burgers and the lavender scones! And for such good value tooThe handmade chips were really nice as well, we were impressed with the way the man reached into a huge sack of potatoes from the shop to take to the kitchen! Overall though, it was a really amazing visit with wonderful food and friendly service. Thank you so much Hawnby Tea Rooms!

We found this little tea shop on our recent wanderings in the North Yorks Moors at our usual coffee time at 11 am. It was a beautiful day and we sat out in the small enclosed garden in from of the tea shop. I had a cafetiere of excellent coffee and my OH had a pot of Yorkshire tea and it was soooo reasonable. It was just a shame that we had had an enormous breakfast only 2 hours previously or we would certainly have eaten here, as four cyclists were having an early lunch of excellent sandwiches! We will definitely be back.

This small tea room, run along with the local shop and post office is a delight. Straightforward, no frills but a grand pot of good tea and a very tasty slice of home made cake - all at a very reasonable price. There is a pretty outside garden, too, which is a lovely place to enjoy being in the centre of this peaceful North Yorkshire village. The local church nearby is .very interesting to visit, too.

The tea rooms stay open late and are happy to cook food whenever requested. We had the local pork burgers with apple, which were delicious. The owners were friendly and happy to chat. It is wonderful to find such old fashioned hospitality still exists.

This is the sort of tea room that you read about in an adventure book like Enid Blyton's Famous Five. Run by the couple in the shop, which is next door, the scones were infused with lavender an served with lashings of cream and jam. The lemon drizzle cake was wondrous too, and all served with plenty of tea. It was sunny so we were able to sit in the garden across the road. Inexpensive and a wonderful experience of a friendly place.

We've been visiting Hawnby now for seven years and discovered this gem on the very first year.Always been made to feel welcome and love the lemon drizzle cake that is usually on offer. The lavender scones are pretty special too.Tried the tea room breakfast for the first time today and the portions together with the locally sourced ingredients were a total treat. It really is a friendly oasis after a long walk or cycle ride with very reasonable prices. No trip here would ever be complete without a visit to the Hawnby Shop and tea rooms and will be back to sample more next year.

After a long and hard walk from Hawnby village and back , about 7 miles, we were delighed to find a little place where our group of handicapped walkers could sit outside (or inside) and enjoy a very good pot of tea and a nice selection of scones, and teacakes. Service with a smile and very reasonable prices. Nothing outstanding but a useful place to find in this rather remote but extremely beautiful area, which is worth a recommendation in its own right.

"you enter as a stranger and leave as a friend" said the bar room sign which greeted this weary wanderer who'd taken a wrong turn. I ordered a pint and sure enough before it was pulled I was in conversation with a local man who thenintroduced me to the bar staff! The Sunday Roast was in full swing, the campers were in and out from the pub campsite and the occasional labrador was stealing hearts but nothing seemed to much trouble for the staff. This is a proper country pub, as warm and cosy as a storybook cottage and it's charm appeared to be working on a nearby American couple who's fantasies of an Olde English Country Pub had all just come true. I was on foot and was a few miles from the nearest town but lo and behold one of my new-found companions insisted on giving me a lift... As I exited the bar I glanced the "enter as a stranger and leave as a friend" sign again - this pub does what it says on the tin!

It would look like I’m beating a drum for this pub! But we keep going back because to be honest it is just such good value. Tried their two steaks for £20, choice of rump, sirloin or ribeye, we both went for sirloin, superb, cooked as we wanted, medium rare, salad, mushrooms, peas, onion rings, and a separate bowl of chips. You must try it! I also think you will find it harder to get a better pint of bitter, landlady told me lines are cleaned at the change of every barrel as well as normal cleaning.

Absolutely loved this pub/restaurant. We sat outside with our dog at one of numerous tables and had a delicious Sunday lunch. So much flavour in the meat and the roast potatoes were the best. A bit pricey but worth it for the setting, the food, the service and the landlord brought out some steak pieces for the dogs to share. Amazing.
