We visited this tearoom after while back after a hike and what we had to eat and drink was amazing. The coffee was perfect, which is rare. The food was lovely, I had a lavender scone. A true oasis.

We found this by accident driving through Hawnby recently, we were actually looking for The Owl pub but decided to stop off here instead for a light lunch and so pleased we did. The day we visited, it was a lovely warm September day so we sat outside in the garden across the road. I had a cream tea and my husband had a Cornish Pasty, both were delicious and the bill only came to just over £9, bargain! The set up of the tea room/village shop itself is rather quirky but this only added to the charm, we would definitely visit again.

Myself and 7 friends had rented Todds Pasture (beautiful holiday let) about a 20 minute walk away from the Hawnby Tearoom, for a 50th birthday weekend away. I contacted the tearoom to see if they could provide an afternoon tea for us on the Sunday. They said this was possible so i booked it, and we were absolutely blown away with what we received!! It was absolutely beautiful, the food was all home made, plentiful and they catered for 3 different dietary requests. We had prosecco to enjoy with the food, all in all, 10 out of 10! Highly recommend!

I understand that the new Owners have not been there long and are undertaking a major project to the whole building. We stopped for a coffee and the tea room was thick of dust, cobwebs and flies. No toilet in the tea room but we were kindly allowed to use their private bathroom upstairs. This was no cleaner that the tea room and the whole area upstairs was a wreck. I don't envy them the work that they are undertaking on but please if you are going to open the team room during major renovations, do ensure that it is clean and inviting for you customers.

Hawnby is really a hamlet rather than village & certainly off the beaten track. The Tea Room is part of the tiny village shop (not been in anything like this for many years & delighted that they can keep a business such as this going) and served by the same friendly staff. Excellent value for money & a surprisingly wide range of food given the constraints. You can certainly get a proper meal rather than just tea etc.

This is a gem of tea room that serves delightful lunches and wicked lavender scones (make sure you leave room for one!). We ate inside, but wished it were a few degrees warmer so we could have taken advantage of the lovely outdoor seating. Best thing about this place, though, was the chat with the woman who makes it all happen (cafe and store). Her down-to-earth hospitality and the recommendation to take the drive to Osmotherley made our time there just that much more special. We'll be back!

Walking with friends in the Hawnby area, we called in here for some refreshments before setting off. The tea was nice and coffee rated excellent. They also made me a very nice roast beef and horseradish sandwich for later in the walk. Pleasant welcome for walkers, nice service and reasonable prices. No hesitation in recommending.

What do you want from a teas room? Good cake, lots of tea, friendly helpful people? Well this small tearoom provides all these things, either inside or in the secluded garden. In addition it is open all day starting with breakfast.

Coffee and tea lovely, in a gorgeous setting of Hawnby, but don't go for the sandwiches. Bacon sandwich was awful - dry, toasted skinny brown bread with under cooked bacon. Panini was better. Judging by other reviews we may have just picked wrong.

Totally unspoilt and unmodernised delightful little cafe with adjoining village shop and garden for sitting. A more than adequate menu for lunch at very reasonable prices. The shop was also very well stocked. The lower village is tiny, very peaceful and relaxed. A lovely quiet place to unwind in the sunshine after a walk; we'll definitely be visiting again!

After a long walk last weekend we needed a bit of sustenance so called in for coffee and scone with jam & cream. Brilliant value for money 'proper coffee', we were given a full cafetiere which would have given us about six cups between just two of us. Scone and jam i'd say were both home made and extremely tasty. Will definitely return if we're in the neighborhood.

Stumbled across this tearoom tucked away in a picturesque village after a muddy but enjoyable walk! We can really recommend the pork and apple burgers and the lavender scones! And for such good value tooThe handmade chips were really nice as well, we were impressed with the way the man reached into a huge sack of potatoes from the shop to take to the kitchen! Overall though, it was a really amazing visit with wonderful food and friendly service. Thank you so much Hawnby Tea Rooms!

We found this little tea shop on our recent wanderings in the North Yorks Moors at our usual coffee time at 11 am. It was a beautiful day and we sat out in the small enclosed garden in from of the tea shop. I had a cafetiere of excellent coffee and my OH had a pot of Yorkshire tea and it was soooo reasonable. It was just a shame that we had had an enormous breakfast only 2 hours previously or we would certainly have eaten here, as four cyclists were having an early lunch of excellent sandwiches! We will definitely be back.

Straightforward, no frills but a grand pot of good tea and a very tasty slice of home made cake - all at a very reasonable price. This is the sort of tea room that you read about in an adventure book like Enid Blyton's Famous Five. Run by the couple in the shop, which is next door, the scones were infused with lavender an served with lashings of cream and jam. The lemon drizzle cake was wondrous too, and all served with plenty of tea. It was sunny so we were able to sit in the garden across the road. Inexpensive and a wonderful experience of a friendly place.

After a long and hard walk from Hawnby village and back , about 7 miles, we were delighed to find a little place where our group of handicapped walkers could sit outside (or inside) and enjoy a very good pot of tea and a nice selection of scones, and teacakes. Service with a smile and very reasonable prices. Nothing outstanding but a useful place to find in this rather remote but extremely beautiful area, which is worth a recommendation in its own right.

Having looked at opening times on Google it clearly states Saturday open 12 00 pm Having wanted to try the grapes for some time as it was a nice day decided to walk appropriately 3 miles to said drinking establishment, having set of at midday got there around 1 pm well establishment it is but far from drinking was bolted up tighter than fort knox if I was a bunny I would not have been very happy so had to do the 3 miles back seems a poor way to run a business if you can not be bothered to open

I'm desperate to be balanced and constructive here as we did enjoy our food and visit and would return. Overall the food was excellent quality, well executed, tasty and varied, although several dishes we wanted weren't available on the night. Unfortunately for Omni, Malton meets Mayfair and several dishes are overpriced and a good few were undersized. 4 slithers of fillet steak were more like 150g than 230g for example. 10 sprouts in a tapas bowl with some gorgeous bang bang sauce looked lost and forlorn and at £6, we felt cheated, we wanted more and compelled to double up on the order. Same with the cauliflower fritters, baby potatoes and padron peppers. The Beef Dripping fries are nothing special and the portion size is very parsimonious for the money. To draw comparison, all members of our party of 5 have enjoyed tapas in Spain and in similar tapas establishments in London. We commented on some portion sizes. If they manage to balance this price and portion size scenario, we are sure Omni will thrive with more repeat business. If they continue as is, many will be put off by the price and it's future could be in jeopardy, which would be a real shame. The service we received was excellent, the ambience is OK and the drinks and wine range was superb and sensibly priced. Nobody expects big Yorkshire portions with Yorkshire Tapas, but similarly nobody should be paying £30 per head and feeling barely fed. Next time we go, we will definitely eat a bigger meal at lunchtime beforehand.

Be aware there is no mobile phone signal. The Cross Keys is a small village pub which provides accommodation, with the pleasantly decorated rooms in a separate building. Fresh milk was provided on arrival for a much needed cup of tea. Food is served in the pub every night which is good news for those walking the Yorkshire Wolds Way.After a good night’s sleep and breakfast, I collected my pack-up lunch and left Thixendale having been made welcome by Steve and Mary throughout my stay. It was great value too.
