We dropped in after a ten mile hike so we’re pretty hungry. The place looked busy but had lots of empty tables so we decided to give it a shot. Ordering at the bar took some time as only one girl taking orders and making drinks. She advised 25-30 mins wait for food but I took a gamble and ordered. The food came in about 15-20 mins so not too bad but could tell they had been caught out by the lovely sunny day/1st March. Helmsley was packed! Anyway food was okay just over priced for what you get. Tuna melt ciabatta with some skinny fries (not homemade) and a small salad £13.50. Also if you’re paying those kind of prices should get something amazing but it was just average. Not bad but nothing special. No cutlery or napkins brought to tables and had to ask as none left in the little trays inside either. Sauce in hard to open sachets and loos were a bit untidy. Like I said think they were short staffed or caught out with weather.

Second visit here this year. Had the Yorkshire breakfast on both visits. Absolutely delicious the sausage is the best we've ever had and the black pudding well you'll have to try it it's so good. Very well priced for such quality food. It will be a regular visit everytime we're in Helmsley.

Another visit for what must be one of the best breakfasts in Yorkshire. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for - quality ingredients, well cooked and with excellent service from a friendly team. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Went for coffee and cake with my husband and granddaughters today. Massively impressed in that the cafe had Oatmilk as one granddaughter is dairy free. Massively disappointed that despite the wonderful array of lovely cakes on offer..absolutely none was dairy free! Oh well, Sea Salt crisps again!!

We love Helmsley and fancied afternoon tea. Having tried to book at a couple of local places, we popped into Number 12 as we walked from the car park. I had afternoon tea, my husband had a farmhouse platter. Absolutely delicious, great value and huge portions. The ham was top quality, sausage rolls were delicious and I had the best treacle tart ever as part of the afternoon tea. Do go and eat there, you will not be disappointed!

Called in yesterday (Sunday) whilst taking a short cut to the market square from the long stay car park. Whilst we didn’t have a booking, we were given a table in a plumb spot in the outside dining area. Perfect on a hot summers day. We ordered from a very comprehensive menu at the bar and it wasn’t very long before our drinks arrived outside. Soon after, our food arrived, beautifully presented and piping hot. The service was swift and very polite. I dropped a dish of coleslaw, which created some attention, but as with everything else, the staff dealt with it quickly and professionally. Well done Number 12! Additional points well earned for bringing out did some fresh water and making him feel welcome! Thanks again, we will return!

Called here for impromptu lunch today. Was not disappointed in any way whatsoever. Had Club sandwich and a Beef ciabatta sandwich which both came with masses of fries, coleslaw etc and drinks. The place is dog friendly, the staff were very attentive and the food was superb. Both inside and the outside garden areas are beautifully furnished, clean and welcoming. Highly recommend a visit here! 5*

Atmosphere inside and out was lovely on a sunny morning and I could not ask for a more friendly welcoming staff. Lovely to see a friendly owned cafe back in Helmsley.

An amazing find in delightful Pickering in a lovely quiet residential area a few minutes walk away from the Steam Railway and town centre. Warm welcome from our host. We had a lovely room overlooking the rear garden. It's a beautiful old building with nice high ceilings, and the room we had was fresh, light and contemporary. Everything was clean. The breakfast was excellent. Fruit salad was fresh. Kippers were on offer, and my partner had the full English which looked amazing. The sausages were gluten free from a local butcher, so intolerances can be catered for with notice. A delightful stay, and an absolute must when we return to the area.

Wow. Just wow. We had read the reviews prior to booking and fair to say it did not disappoint. On a very busy Thursday evening they managed to squeeze us in. The restaurant was vibrant and seemed all customers were buzzing which made the atmosphere very enjoyable and welcoming. We’d come with a party of 4 and loved every minute of it🥳 we had a range of dishes going from the traditional “nutritious” rogan Josh to the house specials of sylheti lamb. The flavours were exceptional and all varied in spices and taste just the smell alone had us all salivating🤤 the lamb was so unbelievably tender it’d just melted in your mouth. It was truly exceptional. Restaurant was immaculately clean and tidy and could see the staff took pride in their work everyone beaming with a smile it truly made it so welcoming. At the end of the meal the amazing manager Akil came over and got us all a round of complimentary drinks which had just put the icing on the cake of a truly brilliant experience at this fine establishment. We all can’t wait to go back and will plan a visit back to Pickering so we can visit once again. Keep up the good work guys!! Will see you soon😝
