Perfect! Went for lunch with friends. Service delightful. Food excellent. Interior design just beautiful. Too busy enjoying the whole ambience to take photos! Afterwards we sat outside by the village pond reflecting on the whole experience!

Lovely hotel in a great location. The staff are wonderful, friendly and professional. The food is delicious with great evening menu with plenty of choice and the breakfast is as good as they come. The rooms are very comfortable, warm and dry well appointed. This is our top Yorkshire hotel if not the UK

Just been for lunch at the Pheasant and can honestly say it was such an enjoyable experience. From start to finish the ambience, music, service, food and wine were wonderful. The decor is beautiful and so in keeping with the age of the building. Food began with a delicious warm marmite and rye brioche roll with salted butter. We had the Rabbit and Monkfish for starters followed by the Cod and Chicken, all beautifully presented and very tasty. Service was excellent . Will definitely be returning.

A return visit to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Room was nice and an issue with our bathroom sorted and the bill adjusted to reflect We knew it was a risk as it has changed hands and the big losers are the food and the service. While the service is generally efficient it was at times deeply impersonal. In the email prior to arrival we were asked if we were celebrating anything but our response was clearly not read and even sitting our Anniversary card on the breakfast table excited no comment. Dinner on Saturday was average and very expensive. We feel the value equation is no longer correctly balanced and we won’t be back.

We'll be staying at 'the other place' in Harome in September so wanted to check out the other pub. Could be tempted to come back another time as it looks great! It was a glorious summer's day so had a drink in garden overlooking pond and enjoyed atmosphere. Restaurant looked pristine and welcoming and staff were great too. Plenty of parking at rear

Hubby and I had three nights during February this year. An absolutely delightful hotel to stay at. We had a large room overlooking the courtyard and the front of the hotel. A good sized bathroom and a marvellous bed. The food was excellent and the breakfasts are brilliant. The staff are a credit to the hotel. It won't be our first stay, that's for sure!

So disappointed with the lunch here mid December. At this price point one would expect a high calibre of food, It looks great but the cooking left a lot to be desired. Bread, was it frozen with butter that crumbled like I’ve never experienced before. Terrine, tiny portion, minimal flavour and a large bit of gristle. Duck main course, excellent presentation, slightly odd flavour to me, however the cut side texture was odd, overly dry, perhaps left for too long under the warming lights or badly grilled / fried after cutting from the breast as too rare and needed an extra flash. Venison main, tasty, to be critical unevenly cooked, at this price point one would expect better. Chips, poor. Desert, mille-feuille, de-constructed, I nearly cried, so poor, was this even puff pastry, where did the of the mille-feuille go! Bar / lounge area was lovely and cosy with open fire, the dinning room / orangery bright and spacious. * I only leave reviews if the offering is good to exceptional or below acceptable / expected *

The Lion Inn at Blakey Ridge is an absolute gem, offering a warm welcome, stunning views, and top-notch food in a truly unique setting. Nestled high on the North York Moors, this historic inn provides breathtaking scenery that adds to the charm of the experience. Whether visiting for a hearty meal, a drink by the fire, or an overnight stay, it never disappoints. The atmosphere is everything you’d want from a traditional country pub—cosy, inviting, and full of character. The roaring fire creates the perfect setting in colder months, while the outdoor seating area is ideal for enjoying the spectacular views on a sunny day. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always go the extra mile to make you feel at home. The food is outstanding, with generous portions and a great selection of home-cooked classics. The steak and ale pie is a must-try, packed with flavour and served with perfectly crisp chips. The Sunday roasts are equally impressive, offering tender meats and all the trimmings. A great selection of ales complements the menu perfectly. Whether you’re a walker, biker, or just passing through, The Lion Inn is a must-visit. It’s a truly special place, and I can’t wait to return!
