The Sun Inn in Ryedale

A rustic village pub, which is popular with the local community. Nothing fancy but with a nice atmosphere. The food is AMAZING - locally sourced meats etc; home-cooked, and excellent value for money. I had the steak pie, which was outstanding - meat that melted and with suet pastry! I also had the treacle sponge with custard (made with milk! 😀) This is the second visit and looking forward to the next visit.

Good food at reasonable price with friendly service

Huge portions of tasty food, we underestimated and thought we could manage with starters too. Our group shared some desserts which were great. Great atmosphere with the locals there on a Sunday, we visited on the drive back from Flamingo. Very accommodating, they made room for our large group.

Lovely little village pub and restaurant. Staff were all friendly the service was great. Would definitely recommend! Atmosphere is lovely and all staff and regulars so welcoming and friendly.

We were recommend to try here for Sunday lunch. And boy did it not disappoint. The food was fairly priced but excellent. As a decent cook myself the food here was delicious and staff helpful and friendly. Highly recommend. Sadly no photos as I ate it before I remembered 🤭

Easy to book in and park. Not too long to wait before good sized starters, and then main courses. Both good in quality and quality. Sadly my belt size was insufficient to polish off the main course, but my heart lusted in vain for a desert. My wife and I enjoyed our meals here. Bang for your buck.

Enjoyed a fantastic Sunday Lunch at the Sun Inn, great traditional roast dinner, nothing fancy just good old english food and plenty of it - everything was excellent - and the prices were very reasonable. The puddings were equally traditional, plentiful, and top quality, nice to have plenty of custard with our crumble for a change! Highly recommended if you like a proper Sunday Dinner.

Super country pub that provided an amazing buffet tea/supper for a large group of older people as part of a LIons Club trip out. They were very warm, friendly and welcoming. I am gluten free and had the best pastry dishes I have ever had! It was gorgeous!

Came out for a pud. Great friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Went for crumble and custard and also oreo cheesecake. Both were massive in size and tasty great! Will come again!

No music in pool room. No atmosphere in pub.

Booked as a treat, picking off another Michelin star restaurant. Sadly we left disappointed for a few reasons. The service started strong, friendly, engaging and very helpful. Then half way through the meal everything went out the window. A table of 12 turned up and were seated upstairs, then the courses slowed down taking twice as long as previous then almost wondering if anything would turn up at all towards then end, with the last 3 taking an hour to arrive. Sat for 3 hours 45, which was a good hour longer than it should have been. Turned down the coffee and had the chocolates boxed to take away as we'd had enough. As for the food, there are I think 11 courses on the tasting menu, in which we had the signature course as well, which was an extra £15 each. Personally I thought it was odd to have this as an extra charge on a signature dish than remove one or two others. It was by far the best course on the menu, so why charge extra, especially as some courses were poor in my view. The duck three ways was just below par, for what was a slice of duck with apricot which just didn't go together, with a potted leg meat danish which was dry and without leg meat, and a duck jus, which was like gravy. So I won't say more about the lamb hit pot, with very taste lamb with rooke potatoes on top which tasted bizarre. Appreciate this is my view but won't be returning.

Went for Sunday lunch and the food was delicious! The meat just melted, decent roasties and Yorkshire pudding and plenty of veg and gravy. The people working there are friendly and so helpful and it's got a nice cosy feel to it 😊

Great tasting food, and more than enough on your plate, cooked from scratch. Never had a bad meal yet. Friendly staff are always happy to help. Dogs are welcome too, but you have to eat in the bar side. Would highly recommend 👌

Great place for a family meal. Good food cooked from scratch. Menu for all tastes. Big portions. Excellent service and value for money. We only found the Sun Inn by accident on a trip to the area, well worth a visit. Popular with the locals - always a good sign! Plenty of parking.

We came here two nights in row for food and drinks here, food outstanding and well priced, staff amazing and friendly. Would recommend this place to anyone who's passing by or staying near by.

We were staying in Normanby and visited the Sun Inn just a few minutes walk away. A friendly welcome greeted us and luckily we got the last table as we hadn't booked. It's a cosy local pub serving tradition pub fare. As it was a Tuesday, Pie night, I sampled their Steak and Onion pie with mushy peas, mashed potatoes and gravy, excellent. This was accompanied by a couple of pints of local ale. A very pleasant visit.

Great friendly place with good home cooked food. We went on Tuesday which was pie night. The pies were fantastic and the portions were large. The price was very reasonable as well. The desserts were good value as well as they were large portions also. We both came away feeling full. Would highly recommend if you want a filling meal.

Disappointed!!!! Long wait for our food(regulars took preference) mine was burnt and inedible. No apology was offered for long wait or the state of my meal although it was mentioned. The landlady was sullen and rude. Nice evening with friends ruined

Sunday lunch was fantastic and very cheap considering the quality of the food (very generous, with a separate bowl of veg, choice of boiled potatoes or a nice chunky mash, and real gravy made with meaty bits !). We shared a caramel cheesecake for dessert, but it was literally double the size of standard pub fayre - now I'm into my food, almost 20st with a scarily big appetite, and even I had to admit defeat and leave some cheesecake behind. My only 'complaint'... the cheesecake had additional sugar syrup that it simply didn't need all over it (the chocolate sauce drizzle was fine), making it overly, sickeningly sweet - even for me with a sugar addiction !

Its ok. Its cold right now so the 2 pint's we had were cut short. O really wish they had outdoor heaters. Other wise... Probably wont go again until weather gets better. Food looks good though... EVERYONE getting takeaways. Girls work work hard. Good job👍

What a delicious Sunday lunch. Roast beef, Yorkshire puds, roast,mash & New potatoes, carrots, brocoli, cabbage and gravy. Followed by a LARGE slice of cheese cake. Excellent customer service in what are difficult times... well done to all the staff.... we will be back... 5 Stars!!!!

Nice, no frills pub run by Harriet for and supported by the local community. Good beer, real fire and the best value food for miles around.

Just had a Sunday lunch takeaway from the sun Inn Normanby Absolutely gorgeous we had the roast pork and all the trimmings Desserts some off the best we have ever had.

👎 choice of ale was disappointing, but the one I did have (something pale) was in good order. 👍 food was really good. I had a homemade chicken & leek pie, with fresh veg and mash. Superb. The one staff we did see was very friendly and the food came quick. Lots of covid measures in place so felt safe.

Just had a Sunday lunch takeaway from the sun Inn. Absolutely gorgeous. We had the lamb 4 veg mash Yorkshire and lamb. It was put in polystyrene contained and there was more than enough 4 2 people. Gravy came separate. Well done to all of you at the sun Inn everything was perfect. S hg all b doing it again.
