Charming ambience… subtle lighting… warm and welcoming. We had the smaller tasting menu. The food was superbly presented , delicious flavours with exciting combinations and seasonal influences… this food rivals the Fat Duck and L Enclume as well as the Raby Hunt but at a fraction of the price … Congratulations to this stunningly talented young chef and his team. The wines too were sensibly priced with a good selection to choose from…. We work in hospitality so feel well place to assess… we know what hard work goes into it to keep very high standards… An amazing place on the up and coming …. Great to have it in the area… Austin Lynch Millgate House Richmond

Basil Fawlty lives! If you want to be made to feel awkward and unwelcome pop in. We were seated in the empty cold bar for wife's birthday meal as seemingly because we had our children with us. I asked to sit in the restaurant so we weren't sat alone. Landlord said he couldn't due to it being carpeted (bar was carpeted too). Eventually went to wooden floor area where two other tables were, seemed like he was trying to separate us. He was clearly stressed and only waiting on three tables including ours, laughable really. He bordered on rude and impolite when rushing back for a wine order nearly immediately after I asked for a few moments. No one came to see how our meal was, which is a basic courtesy in a restaurant. No thanks on payment either. Used to be a nice pub now run by a total clown who is out of his depth doing basic things. AVOID.

Could not recommend enough! Staff are so friendly and welcoming. They make sure to go above and beyond for customers, making sure you have everything you need. Decor is absolutely fabulous and not to forget they grow their own fresh ingredients, you don’t get a better experience than that. Food is 10/10 so flavourful, definitely will be returning.

We were looking for a lunch stop that would be better than the local motorway services and came across The Travellers Rest. It was a friendly welcome for us all (including our dog) by an attentive barman, with good coffee available as well as soft drinks and alcohol. The light lunch menu had sufficient choice and two of us had toasted flatbread whilst the other had the scampi. I'm told the scampi and the chips were very pleasant. The flatbreads were both delightful with their different flavoursome filings but I have to admit that for me, surprisingly, the side salad was the star of the show. It was no limp lettuce accompaniment it was delightful leaves with a superb pickled salad; absolutely top notch. We had a great welcome and great food, and all from a community run establishment (and for little more than a vastly inferior fast food burger at Scotch Corner services). This venue should be commended and supported, and we definitely intend to return.

Sunday Lunch. Pork loin not carved in slices but hacked in thick lumps - tasteless. Expecting veg to arrive - asked and was told under the meat. It consisted 2 tiny pieces of broccoli and a couple of spoons of what looked like puréed carrot. On the plate a mound of cream looking thing turned out to be cauliflower cheese, not everyone wants cheese with pork. The menu mentioned with apple sauce -we had to ask for it - it arrived in what looked like coffee pods about 2 teaspoons. And a huge dried out Yorkshire pudding. A little gravy was on the plate. It tasted like school dinners! Lacked any ambience and they did not now which wine they had by the glass. Luckily I asked for a doggie bag for the meat and my Labrador was pleased - made a sandwich as I was still hungry. It is a chain restaurant so should not have expected much but this was poor and a waste of money.

Used the Tesla supercharger for 28 mins (I know this from my PCN) and received a fine 3 months later. I saw the signs so went into reception and let the staff know I was using a charger, they said it was no problem (I wasn't offered an iPad to log my details, I only know this as I called the hotel to complain upon receipt of fine). I even spent money on a coffee, I wasn't offered a discount either which the hotel claims for charging customers. Having spoke to the Hotel today they are clearly not interested in helping me, having sat at my computer and read these reviews it's clear that the business ethics are at rock bottom for Holiday Inn. Even when I tried to do the right thing I wasn't given the correct information and will suffer a fine on a technicality. Avoid.

Worst KFC meal I have had - tables dirty, cold in the seating area due to air con and the meal really wasn't great- our tower burgers had a dark coloured hard, greasy, crunchy overcooked coating with dry chicken inside. Perhaps it had been sat too long waiting for it to be sold? It certainly wasn't fresh. Would be wary about eating chicken from there again. Not had this experience in a KFC before. Maybe someone higher up should be checking in occasionally to check on hygiene/food safety standards......

Service very slow considering only 2 others waiting. Chips were already bagged and cold. Our burgers were fine. Our food was bagged even though we had said we were eating in. The lady next to us had also been given cold chips and burgers .Not much care and attention given.
