Could not recommend enough! Staff are so friendly and welcoming. They make sure to go above and beyond for customers, making sure you have everything you need. Decor is absolutely fabulous and not to forget they grow their own fresh ingredients, you don’t get a better experience than that. Food is 10/10 so flavourful, definitely will be returning.

The surroundings are lovely, staff are pleasant but rather chaotic. Service was very slow and inattentive. The food was served cold (eggs Benedict so not ideal) and pancakes which looked good but were uncooked in the centre so inedible. We didn't return the food as it would have taken too long and didn't want to spoil our day by complaining. Its a shame as this is the second time we have experienced this, we were due to book a large family lunch here but sadly will look elsewhere.

Came here for afternoon tea for my Mum’s birthday. The grounds and decor inside the coach house are lovely. The afternoon tea and range of sandwiches and puddings were amazing and you could tell they were all freshly made, unlike a lot of other afternoon teas I have had. There was a good selection of teas to choose from and these were refilled. The scones were lovely and still nice and warm, not hard or difficult to cut into. The waiting staff were pleasant and friendly, they went through each filling and part of the afternoon tea also. Although this was a little bit more expensive than other places for afternoon tea it is definitely worth it for the good quality food and presentation. Would definitely visit again!

Love this place. We come here all the time. Always nice food at the coach house and a lovely ambience. Just one slight criticism is that there is too much ice in the cocktails. My drink was just a full glass of ice and hardly any cocktail, just a few sips and it was gone so it did not feel like the cocktails are value for money. Everything else was perfect.

We have been visiting this restaurant for at least five years. Had many visits. Generally we have found the food to be of a very good standard. This has fluctuated on several occasions, especially on portions, which went miniscule at one point. The place is very well appointed and clearly has seen much investment. However upon our last visit for dinner, the food was no where near the standard of what it usually is. Our dishes seemed boardline homestyle in presentation. Waited an age between courses. My wife had the sirloin steak. It should of been sent back to the kitchen. The accompanying chips, were more potato bits, the steak was over done. Asked for medium rare. It was bordering well done. And the salad garnish, unbelievably bad. A handful of rough green lettuce, undressed, dumped on the plate. Something you might expect in a cheap pub setting. No excuses at those prices. The standard seemed so far removed from what we have previously encountered. Hence, wondering if a change in the kitchen. Sadly will not be in a rush to return.

Had an amazing meal which was not cheap, but…. Beware if you are offered a table in the Snug. This is essentially a holding area for pre diners and right next to the toilets! So a constant flow of adults and children. No view at all of any of the splendid venue. Admittedly we booked last minute, but given the beautiful surroundings we felt like we’d been relegated to the naughty corner. Went a whole course with no drinks, because of our table position (in a corner) no chance of getting anyone’s attention without actually leaving the table and walking to the bar area. We chose to sit outside for coffee to at least enjoy the venue, view and people watch but waited 20 minutes for our coffee. Disappointing.

Fabulous meal here on a weeknight when staying in the area. Very fresh ingredients, salads of very high quality. Cornish hake was delicious and fell apart, served on a bed of excellent vegetables. Serving staff were all swift and professional. Cocktails were top notch. We thoroughly enjoyed and the delightful setting was a bonus. Fun evening - couldn’t fault anything.

Without doubt this is of my favourite places to eat, for so many reasons. From the beautiful setting in a stunning location, friendly staff, to the absolutely gorgeous food. I meet friends here once a month for lunch and we have been coming for years and have never been disappointed. I’ve eaten following a spa evening on two occasions and once when we stayed at Middleton lodge and every time the food is a delight! Cannot recommend this place more if you want beautiful, fresh tasty food in stunning surroundings. I just had to review this place to give it the credit it deserves!

The whole place is maintained to the highest standard This was our third visit and it won’t be our last It is a truly magical place and the staff make it extra special Good staff are hard to find but this place has many Thank you all so much again

A very average evening meal at well above average prices. To start: half a bowl of thick bland luke-warm soup, followed by a small confit duck leg which was on the dry side due to overcooking, with miniscule portions of mash and broccoli, and no sauce. May have been decent value at half the price in pub or café, but not at £34 for 2 courses. On top of that – struggled to find the car park exit in the dark due to poor signage.

Booked the spa for a family birthday and we were really impressed with the ambience, it is beautiful and we would definitely return. Just a few things that let it down for us. The pool was just too cold to stay in so we only spent about 15 minutes in it. The jacuzzi is lovely and hot but is popular so it gets quite full and theres not always space. The sauna was luke warm and when we found some water to put on the coals there was no reaction as they were not hot. We ordered 3 strawberry smoothies but when they came they were more like a small glass of cordial and there was no fruit in at all, they were definitely not smoothies. Lastly it would be nice if there was an area with plugs for ladies to do their hair. I took a heated tong which I always use but there was nowhere to plug in, so went to dinner feeling a mess. Apart from this it is a beautiful spa and we would return and hopefully issues will be addressed.

We arrived frazzled because we drove around the grounds in the dark not knowing where to go. The signage inside the grounds is no help at all. Allow time for this if you haven't been before. Fortunately we had because we wanted a pre dinner drink in the bar before we ate. Even when we did arrive we weren't sure if we had arrived at the back entrance because we stood for ages with no welcome or acknowledgement. A very disappointing start to our evening. When someone did come they didn't take our coats. We went through to the snug for a drink. They gave us menus and went away. Later came back for our order. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Then very quickly afterwards we were asked to go through to the restaurant. We had only had a couple of sips of our drinks and it was still prior to the time we had actually booked our table for (7.30). We felt rushed. The food came and was fabulous. I had the beetroot starter which had beautifully cooked beetroots and some pickles. It also had a grain through it. I couldn't remember what the grain was so asked a member of staff. She didn't know so went away to ask and came back saying it was probably buckwheat....probably! My main was pork belly with parsnip and an apple reduction. The pork could have been cooked a little longer. I think belly needs to be very well cooked until really soft. The top skin was impossible to cut through as it was not crisp, I couldn't eat it. A steak knife would have helped. Having said that it was still a good dish which could have been excellent. We had sides of mashed potato and greens with pickles both superb. The presentation of both dishes was innovative and inviting. Portion size was good too not tiny portions of fiddled with food which I much prefer. The service was not as polished as the food. There was no obvious manager and we had different servers which is never quite as good as one for the entire meal. Overall it was OK but could have been superb with more attention to some details.

We had an excellent meal, & service to match this visit (the latter not so good on a previous occasion). The Coach House Restaurant is beautifully styled, as is the rest of the estate (a gorgeous new spa has been added since we last came). Food was superb across the board, the menu a shortish list of creative, modern dishes, with good use made of the kitchen garden (which is lovely to walk around).

Relaxed and delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. On booking our stay at Middleton Lodge Estate I received an email confirming my booking for The Coach House Restaurant. I called to question this as I had not made a reservation. I was told that guests were automatically given a booking that they could amend or cancel but at least then they were guaranteed a table if required. We walked over after we had unpacked and had drinks in the garden area and snacks…. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. The staff were very attentive and helpful and even made my husband a cocktail that wasn’t on the menu. It was a very relaxing visit…. Possibly helped with the glorious weather! We returned later for our evening meal and again the staff were super helpful in making recommendations or asking if we would like any part of the meal changed to suit our tastes. There was an extensive wine and drinks list and we thought the prices were very reasonable. Breakfast was also served in this location.

This was our second visit to the Coach House Restaurant, Middleton Lodge. We were greeted by really pleasant staff on arrival and taken to our table. The décor and ambience of the restaurant is tasteful and relaxed, a nice place to be. We enjoyed three courses and the food was very good. I opted for the belly pork and if I'm being picky, I would have preferred the pork skin to be crispy and not like jelly. This didn't detract at all from what was a really nice evening. On a summers evening, the outside seating area looks amazing, so we are already planning to revisit when the weather improves.

I love Middleton lodge. We came here 1 week before lockdown last March for my mums 90th with all the family and had a fabulous meal and experience. We went last week with friends for a meal early Friday evening. The place is sublime. The gardens delightful , decor perfect and the falry lights and furniture perfect. However …. The food was dismal and over priced. Bread ( 4 portions ) and olives on the table were £15 , my omelette Arnold bennet was the size of a small ramekin ( I know it’s described as a light bite but I swear there were 4 mouthfuls ) , my husbands pasta was tasteless. My green beans with lovage were just weird !!! I couldn’t fathom the taste but unpleasant was the main one. We love food and unusual menus and small meals and all that jazz but this was not pleasant. It was overpriced and pretentious and we were embarrassed that we had recommended it to our friends. Why ??? Middleton lodge is so beautiful please … use local produce and cook imaginative and delicious food … our meal was £150. We had 2 beers , 1 bottle house wine , no starters , cheapest main course and 2 puds which were Delish !! I will go back but maybe at lunchtime if they do sandwiches !

The menu and setting of the Coach House is great, more so because we could take our dog with us.When we arrived the manager on duty was exceptional, courteous and very attentive, even to our little dog. However, it became very apparent when his shift finished at 4 pm this afternoon. We struggled to get the attention of any member of staff to order coffee to finish our meal. When that gfailed to arrived at least 20 minutes later we decided to leave. It appears only certain members of staff can take an order for coffee as the waitress we asked when we eventually managed to get her attention was unable to help us. When we left, there was a small ‘huddle’ of staff doing very little and certainly not looking after the few diners that remained in the restaurant. What started off as excellent ended up just so so sadly.

I went to the Coach House with some friends and our pet dogs. It was the perfect setting for a reunion. After a stroll around the enchanting grounds (which are a real treat if you’re a keen gardener) we were greeted by genuinely friendly waiters who gave the dogs bowls of water. The courtyard has a warm, relaxed, almost Mediterranean ambience and is up-market without being too formal – reminiscent of some of the best restaurants in London W1. I had a delicious mojito, followed by the exquisite citrus cured salmon which was bursting with subtle flavours and contrasting textures. It was also pretty enough to be a hat at Ascot, which I always think is a good sign.I followed that with the roasted Hartlepool hake, which was divine – beautifully and delicately presented but also quite substantial, which I needed after all the walking. And finally, the rhubarb and custard cheesecake. Proper, baked cheesecake which reminded me of when I lived in Austria. Fantastic twist to add St Germain liqueur and tangy sorrel, along with rhubarb jam from the nearby walled garden. Absolutely sumptuous. It was honestly better than a spa day. Relaxing, uplifting and delicious. Running out of superlatives.

We recently had a two night stay at the Coach House for a family wedding. Middleton Lodge Estate is just the most amazing place. Such lovely grounds to walk around. Picturesque views, beautiful old buildings; there’s lots of pretty photo opportunities. We had a late lunch, the food was delicious. I had the Pearl barley risotto and my husband the goats cheese tart. Without a doubt it was the most delicious plate of vegetarian food I’ve eaten. They have an excellent menu, there’s certainly something for everybody. Also their drinks menu is very good. They wine we choose was top quality. The only downside for us was the time of check in, 3pm is quite later than most check in times. Once checked in we went to our room, and it was a WOW moment. Possibly one of the most gorgeous rooms we’ve ever stayed in. Our room was Caspartine. We had a perfect sleep on both nights. On our second day we attended a family wedding in the Main Hall, OMG what a stunning venue. We had pre-drinks and were then seated ready for the ceremony. After the most precious and tear jerking wedding ceremony there were drinks and canapés on the lawn. The canapés were so good, a lovely choice and all delicious. The champagne was top notch! The wedding breakfast was held in Fig House, another stunning venue within a beautiful walled garden. A totally private venue. The wedding breakfast was out of this world, prawns to start, sea bass for main, and a delicious strawberry cream and meringue dessert. All in all the most amazing place, I feel so lucky to have been there.

We’ve had another gorgeous break in the heavenly setting of the Middleton lodge. Amazing to see all the developments over the last year. The menu at the coach house was delicious, particularly the aubergine main and the pear tart. The secret herb garden gin is so pretty too! Thank you to the staff who are all working hard to look after all the customers and great to see it justifiably so busy. I’ve missed that sort of buzz. No doubt we’ll be back before long.

We visited the Coach House with a group of friends - perfect setting for a celebratory feast. We sat outside in the beautiful courtyard, there was a lovely gentle buzz about the place. The food was consistently excellent with a perfect-length menu - something for everyone & a brilliant range of vegetarian options. Friendly, excellent staff were discreet & brilliant at making us feel looked after. Will definitely be back!

Had a fabulous lunch with my daughter as a treat to celebrate the end of her degree. The weather wasn’t great so we ate inside which actually made a refreshing change! The food, drinks, service and ambience were perfect for our little celebration. Thank you to the Coach House team for making it so special. We will definitely be back soon.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay. Had such a relaxing time. The whole setting is so peaceful, including our wonderful room. We stayed during recent outdoor restrictions, however, dining outdoors in the marquee was an enjoyable experience. It was a very busy night, but staff were attentive and worked hard to make the meal very enjoyable. The food was delicious and expectations were certainly on par with the standards of our room. I would certainly recommend dining outdoors even if the opportunity to sit inside is now available. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. It was such a calm and relaxing experience enjoying our food outside, under the marquee. Staff were again very friendly and everything seemed to run very smoothly. I would definitely recommend staying here and I hope it won’t be too long till we get to stay again.

Staying overnight at the lodge we were booked in for an evening meal in the coach house. The staff were lovely and attentive but give you plenty of time to chose from the varied menu. And plenty of choice on the wine list as well. The food was excellent, compliments to the chefs on the lamb ragu, best I have ever had. Thought we would not have room for pudding, but given time to enjoy our wine we managed one. Lemon olive oil cake with fennel ice cream was a taste explosion. Breakfast was relaxed and leisurely, again plenty of choice, cereal, fruit, toast, pancakes, full English any combination you want. Lovely way to finish a perfect weekend . Compliments to all the staff. Booking again for a lunchtime visit soon.

Went for a family breakfast very disappointed waited an hour and a half so not good when you have 2 children under the age of 5 with you. When eventually it came the full English had 2 small dried up pieces of streaky bacon on it, never been served a full English that had thin streaky bacon on it. The waitress half hearted apologised and said no charge. It wasn’t our intention to get a freebie we just wanted a nice meal. There were 2 ladies sat on the next table could not believe how long we had to wait especially with 2 small children

Couldn’t fault anything about our experience here - dining under the awning in a beautiful setting with heaters to keep the evening chill at bay, excellent service without being in-your-face, amazing menu and equally amazing food, great ambiance, good assistance with wine choices.... altogether a fabulous evening and so good we went again the night after. If I could give more stars I would.

What a disappointment, had booked a table for my wife’s birthday to have a meal outside only to be turned away as we had our small well behaved dog with us. I would add that we have dined many times over the years at Middleton lodge with our dog inside and outside the coach house. We even got married at Middleton Lodge because at the time they said that they recognised that dogs are a member of the family and are welcome. How things have changed, when we turned up today having booked weeks in advance we were told that dogs (after years of dogs being allowed) are no longer welcome. We politely pointed out that when we rang and booked the table this wasn’t mentioned. We were told that at the time of booking dogs were allowed policy had changed. I pointed out that a courtesy call or email may have been in order to inform us dogs are no longer welcome, no response. The person I spoke to said this was because people have dog allergies - outside at socially distanced tables really? This also hasn’t been an issue for the past 6 years that we’ve been eating at the coach house with our dog. When we mentioned this the member of staff rolled her eyes and said the website does state that dogs are no longer allowed. I must say it must be VERY well hidden as I have subsequently looked on their website, facebook and instagram and couldn’t find this anywhere. I did point out that why would we check the website after booking on the off chance that their dog policy had suddenly changed after many years. To which the member of staff just re-iterated that dogs weren’t allowed and that she’d had to turn away quite a number of people for this reason, which to be honest was no comfort to my large party of family who now were now dressed up with nowhere to go. I would add that even though I’m not a fan of leaving dogs in cars generally, even if I was it was too warm to leave a dog in a car (18 degrees). So we literally had no choice but to leave. To drive the back home to drop the dog off would have been a one hour round journey. It would have been nice for the staff to say that as policy had changed subsequent to booking they would use discretion but to be aware of the policy change for future reference. However we didn’t even get an apology so I guess we had no chance. So my wife’s birthday meal was ruined quite comprehensively and good luck trying to find a table somewhere else for a large family for Sunday dinner, during lock down at the last minute - Thank you very much Middleton Lodge - we won’t be back.

Went to celebrate reopening and birthday of a friend who had to celebrate alone last year . Fabulous all round - the patio heaters kept us warm enough (we did take blankets!) and we enjoyed beautiful food and a few glasses of wine in an environment which has been created for the current situation but made really lovely with fairy lights and aforementioned heaters. Staff really friendly and seemed so pleased to be back. We tried several dishes between us and everyone loved their food. Big thank you!

Lovely setting and attentive service from the staff from start to finish. However the food was really disappointing the food just lacked in flavor and quality. Either they're not paying the chefs enough or the chef's have no passion, something isn't quite right. The drinks were wonderful, however the just slightly too steep in price.£35 for a bottle or prosecco in Middleton Tires I think not, it's not Greenwich. The price of an espresso martini is £12.50!!! £10.00 is fine, you can't charge these types of prices when your churning out mediocre scran.I ordered the fish cakes to start with, awfully bland lacked in seasoning and the portions are rather small too.Although I will say the presentation was good just the quality of the food lacked. My partner had the lamb shoulder for mains and he wasn't impressed either. I think I may of seen my partner raise an eye brow at one point (the last time he did that was Butlins in 2004, his beef tartare was off)Desserts on the other hand were fine. I won't be in a rush to go back for the food, but certainly would go back for drinks with the girls (won't be ordering an espresso martini mind you).

Treated to Sunday lunch by in-laws.Order was ready on-time. My two horses of sons were provided with extra beef, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The meat helpings were provided in a joint format, what a brilliant idea. When we got home the meat was beautifully cooked, pink in the centre and moist (See pictures). This cannot be more highly recommended. There are other restaurants in the area providing food but this has set the standard. And the bar is very high. Will be back soon.

Haven’t been here for years for some reason - our mistake. Beautiful setting, fresh varied menu and super staff. My only minor gripe was that service was a tad slow for us but this is often a matter of taste. Will definitely be back after lock down!

We ate during the week as a birthday treat. As we approached we saw the large tent shielding outside diners- it was lit up with small lights and looked really attractive and appealing. As this was our first ever visit we opted to eat inside so we could see what it looked like. We were shown to our table which was a sensible distance apart from other dinners. The menu was varied with enough choices that everybody should find something on there they would like. We opted for lamb flatbread and tomato/ mozzarella starter, crusted lamb and fillet steak followed by chocolate brownie sundae, cappuccino and petit fours - all very indulgent but absolutely worth it. Service was friendly and efficient, food well presented and tasty. 2 very minor gripes - the music was just a bit too loud and I would have quite liked to know what I was eating when devouring the petit fours - perhaps a little explanation of what the pot of treats consist of?Overall though most enjoyable and somewhere we will definitely go again.

Excellent meal in a lovely environment. We actually thought that the changes that have been made due to the Covid restrictions have enhanced the dining experience here. We have eaten here before always inside the restaurant sometimes enjoying a drink outside in the summer. Now they have installed a large cascading big top style cover for the area between reception and the bar, with heaters running all along the centre. We decided to stay outside after our drinks and eat alfresco. What an excellent choice. Absolutely loved it. The food was light and beautifully presented. I had a tomato and mozzarella bruschetta, followed by the beef ragu tagliatelle and to finish the pineapple pavlova. My husband started with an oyster followed by a pea and feta salad, then the lamb and finished off with the chocolate brownie dessert. We had complimentary prosecco and cocktails before our meal and I can highly recommend the coach house bramble. All in all one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. We really enjoyed ourselves and can’t recommend it enough. We always stay as we live a distance away and can recommend the coach house rooms too, reviewed separately. So much so we are already booked to return in December. Hopefully the alfresco dining will still be in place with adjustments for the colder weather. Fingers crossed anyway this can be pulled off in some shape or form.

We had an absolutely incredible Sunday lunch here, the perfect location for a luxurious treat or family celebration. We sat outside under the veranda, which was nice and warm even in the chilly weather as there were heaters scattered around. The atmosphere was really relaxed and enjoyable, and the service was friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely impeccable - we both had 2 courses and would recommend to anybody. We will definitely be back here again in the future to sample the menu on other days!

We had a lovely dinner at The Coach House, with very friendly service and some wonderful food. A table next to a patio heater meant we were able to enjoy our meal outdoors, offering a beautiful setting for it and making the experience even better! The food was delicious - the Moroccan chicken in particular was beautifully balanced and really tasty. We don't live in the area of visit often, so chances are we won't be back, but we would recommend The Coach House wholeheartedly!

Daughters wedding in the Fig House followed by breakfast next day in the Coach House. Relaxed and really good choice. I am a full Yorkshire Breakfast sort of guy but I had the huevos rancheros, with a side of sausage which I would recommend if you like a little spice

The upmarket coach house is more fine dining than they portrait. Pre meal nibbles like the beetroot hummus is fantastic .The freshest Caesar’s salad, anchovies croutons and dressing all in an enormous portion for £10 was very ,very good. Similarly the detox salad of crispy ingredients was delicious. A light potato topped fish pie was filled with moist hake. This place has a great kitchen that juggles all the items to produce tasty, well constructed meals. An orange polenta cake with great coffee was a memorable finale to a leisurely lunch. We all agreed the coach house deserves a few more visits, this food is on the button.

Middleton Lodge is just gorgeous and the perfect place for lunch or dinner. I was there for a family Sunday lunch, I loved the broccoli starter, the sirloin of beef main came with large Yorkshire pudding and loads of veg and I particularly liked the extra gravy brought along without having to ask for it. Our beef unfortunately was tough and very fatty so was difficult to cut and chew. The waiter, who asked if all was ok, seemed a little taken aback when we mentioned it but quickly gave us steak knives and then didn’t ask if all was ok again. Saying that I would definitely dine here again, I just wouldn’t order the beef.

Had a great meal. Not cheap but very good. Pork main of pork cheek and pork belly was particularly good. Nice atmosphere and lovely surroundings. Service was attentive but not rushed. Pork was served with mash potatoes which wasn’t stated on the menu. I ordered dauphinoise potatoes as a side and I would have ordered something else if I’d known about the mash. One slight moan - print on the menus is small and the lighting is dim. If you are the wrong side of 50 like myself you might find yourself using the light on your phone to read the wine list.

We visited here after reading some encouraging reviews and noting that “booking is essential for food”, we thought it would be a safe bet while we were in the area. Unfortunately, the 2 stars are for service along as the bar staff were very polite and helpful. They are also dog friendly which is a bonus. Other than that, the food was not impressive. We had the Sunday roast and the beef tasted of poor quality, and vegetables were not seasoned and lacked flavour. The cabbage served with the meal was pickled which wasn’t what we expected. We were still hungry afterwards but didn’t want to waste any more money on desert in case it was more of the same. The decor is very tired and the place does lack atmosphere unfortunately. We didn’t drink alcohol but they have a wide variety of ales to choose from behind the bar. We won’t be returning, sadly!

Great service and great food. Chef obliged me in spite of being 15 mins past his no breakfast notification. Very friendly. Quite a discovery this place, which is a bit tucked away. Will definitely be back. Just how cafés should be.
