Charming ambience… subtle lighting… warm and welcoming. We had the smaller tasting menu. The food was superbly presented , delicious flavours with exciting combinations and seasonal influences… this food rivals the Fat Duck and L Enclume as well as the Raby Hunt but at a fraction of the price … Congratulations to this stunningly talented young chef and his team. The wines too were sensibly priced with a good selection to choose from…. We work in hospitality so feel well place to assess… we know what hard work goes into it to keep very high standards… An amazing place on the up and coming …. Great to have it in the area… Austin Lynch Millgate House Richmond

Amazing experience. It's clear Jake and his team are well drilled and very talented. I am by no means a food critic but I thought it was flawless. I ate food I would never normally choose on a menu and it was so good. The venue is beautifully presented with such a calm atmosphere. The front of house staff are very attentive, polite and professional. Your not just paying for food your paying for the experience, atmosphere and service. A true food pampering. Well done to you all.

We visited The Coach House at Middleton Lodge for Sunday lunch, drawn in by its beautiful setting. The restaurant itself is lovely, with a stunning converted barn and a charming bar and seating area. However, the meal did not live up to expectations, especially considering the price. From the start, the experience felt a little off. We were seated behind a bookshelf, which made our spot feel dark and tucked away, lacking the warm and inviting atmosphere we had hoped for. I skipped the starter as nothing particularly appealed to me, while my partner chose the mushroom soup. It was pleasant but unremarkable. For my main, I opted for the beef roast, as I always think you can judge a restaurant by how well they handle a classic Sunday roast. Unfortunately, the beef was disappointing. While it wasn’t tough or chewy, it was served with an excessive amount of fat that added nothing to the dish. I had to spend time cutting away large portions of inedible fat, which was frustrating and took away from the enjoyment of the meal. For £24, I expected a much better quality cut. This felt careless and poorly prepared. The accompaniments were also underwhelming. The carrots were nicely done, but the overall vegetable selection was uninspiring. Kale was the only green vegetable, when something more traditional like cabbage, peas, or broccoli would have been a better choice. Even more puzzling was the addition of a side salad, which felt completely out of place. The mashed potatoes were smooth and well-made, but the roast potatoes were disappointingly small and lacked the crispy exterior you would hope for. For the price, I expected far better. A local hotel near us serves an excellent Sunday roast for just £15, with perfectly cooked beef every time. By comparison, this felt overpriced and lacking attention to detail. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. While the setting is beautiful, the food simply did not justify the cost, and I wouldn’t return for Sunday lunch.

We ate here tonight on the way home from the cinema in Richmond as we wanted something quick. The service was friendly but very slow. The food service was fast but it was the clearing of the table and getting the bill etc that seemed to slow things down. Most of the alcohol free drinks on the menu were unavailable (beer, peroni and sparking wine). Sourdough bread was unavailable so was substituted for ciabatta. 2 slices cut in half with butter was charged at £5.95! The chunky chips were pale and, we felt, undercooked. Overall… friendly service but too slow (especially when only 4 occupied tables in the main restaurant) and the food was disappointing. We won’t be back, sorry.

Must get here at 5am sharp for bakes or 11am for pizzas to get anything hot. Had 2 steak bakes at 5.20am today which were barely warm. Their shelves are just full of stone cold steak, chicken bakes which are sickly or stone cold pizzas with a very thick base little topping which I endup feeding the crows.
