We visited for food on Easter Saturday and the pub was very busy, it was easy to see why. Food order was taken (I had lamb rump) and both our meals were faultless, the nicest lamb I’ve ever had! The staff were great with our children and we were made to feel very welcome with activities to keep the kids occupied. Drinks were more than reasonably priced, Guinness was top drawer! We will definitely be back!

Best service we’ve had all year. Staff (especially Clare who was serving us was so nice and helpful, always checking on the kids and asking whether they wanted anything changed off the menu, or if they understood everything on the menu, and even just chatting with us and even entertaining us whilst we were waiting for our food 🍲). We ordered a hefty lot of food for a family and the wait was only 20 minutes and we had fun playing the games the games they had in store there 🎲. I ordered the chicken burger and so did another family member and we both loved it just as much. Then we had dessert which was also amazing (brownie sundae). Would definitely recommend 5 stars all round. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What an absolute gem We are lucky enough to live local to The Travellers Rest and visit regularly. Each time we are greeted with a warm and friendly welcome, whether we are dressed in our finest or calling for a swift half after work Nicola, Ryan and their fabulous team go over and above to make your visit a memorable one Ryan changes his menu weekly. Booking isn’t a necessity although is advised as they do get very busy Wednesday is pie night and as soon as you walk in the smell of freshly cooked hand made pies makes your mouth water Thursday - Saturday Ryan changes the menu weekly, offering a wide range of locally sourced products cooked to perfection (all dietary requirements are catered for) Sunday is their famous, Sunday Lunch Not to be missed. They even offer a take out collection service if you ask nicely 😂 With Nicola and Poppy behind the bar and Ryan and Charlotte in the kitchen you will receive 5 star service. Waitresses Lottie & Alex also do a sterling job This really is a pub you need to give a try you won’t be disappointed ♥️

Top marks for Sunday Lunch. This was one of the best we have had for a long while. Semerwater was spot on for a pint. Lovely relaxing surroundings, cheerful fire, good service. Many thanks indeed. Just what we needed on a damp grey Sunday!

The travellers rest in Skeeby is a lovely cosy pub with a warm welcoming vibe! We love coming here. The Manageress and Chef are a very experienced, fantastic team who have worked extremely hard since they took over in March 2024. Both always ensure everyone is looked after perfectly. The food is delicious and the menu always imaginative; compliments to chef Ryan. Nicola runs a perfect ship, she is professional at all times whilst always smiling. All in all, we can’t recommend the Travellers Rest enough… it’s definitely a must try when you’re in the area!! We can’t wait to visit again soon

We visited the Travellers Rest just after Christmas 2024. We arrived to be greeted very warmly by the manager, Nicola who we knew from her previous pubs. We were offered a wide range of drinks the Yorkshire Dales Distilery bramble gin is definitely worth a try as are the locally sourced ales and lagers. The food service starts at 5.30pm. The menu choices all sounded wonderful. My husband had bangers and mash and said it’s the best he’s ever had, the red cabbage a real highlight and “made” the dish in his words. My son had Steak and Ale pie which was packed to the brim with beautifully slow cooked brisket in the most divine gravy, he wolfed his down and shared the gravy with our dog who’s eyes definitely widened in happiness when he tasted it. I has scampi which was perfectly cooked and it was a generous portion. The triple cooked chips were lovely and crispy, the salad of rocket, pickled red cabbage and balsamic was beautiful, a nice change to the usual salads that come as a side with meals, I’d eat that over and over again. The poached pears for pudding were delicately spiced and melted in your mouth, the clotted cream ice cream was utterly superb, the chocolate fudge cake sundae, well, that was a massive hit with our son! You can tell that the chef sources the finest produce that he can and that it’s all cooked with love. Absolutely loved our visit and we will definitely go back and hopefully soon. It’s decorated and finished to a high quality and is comfortable to sit and eat and chat. 10/10 for us. Well done to the team, it’s top drawer!

We were looking for a lunch stop that would be better than the local motorway services and came across The Travellers Rest. It was a friendly welcome for us all (including our dog) by an attentive barman, with good coffee available as well as soft drinks and alcohol. The light lunch menu had sufficient choice and two of us had toasted flatbread whilst the other had the scampi. I'm told the scampi and the chips were very pleasant. The flatbreads were both delightful with their different flavoursome filings but I have to admit that for me, surprisingly, the side salad was the star of the show. It was no limp lettuce accompaniment it was delightful leaves with a superb pickled salad; absolutely top notch. We had a great welcome and great food, and all from a community run establishment (and for little more than a vastly inferior fast food burger at Scotch Corner services). This venue should be commended and supported, and we definitely intend to return.

Visited Easter Sunday , had booked up well in advance as we were on an Easter getaway . We were first in and it was a little unorganised but staff were very apologetic . We all opted for the beef which was so tender and very flavoursome. Gravy was proper meaty gravy which was probably the best gravy we have had . My only niggles were the veg . One bowl for four of us … three of them being hungry men . We were sat next to a table of two who received the same veg . Also all the veg is just thrown in one bowl so if there is a particular veg you don’t like you have to pick it out . Staff did ask if everything is ok but felt greedy asking for more veg . Also in my opinion the Yorkshire puddings were over cooked and a bit tough but that’s down to personal preference. Staff were very attentive and friendly during the whole visit and it became very busy . We would definitely visit again on our next visit to Richmond

Really nice pub. I had started to go there every Sunday for lunch before the new people took over. The chef that was there before did stunning veg! Kale or cabbage in cream with bacon, root veg bake , roasted carrots and parsnips. Cauliflower cheese .Afraid the new chef is lacking in imagination when it comes to veg. Boiled or steamed everything in a bowl! I’ll be cooking my own from now on. Such a shame!

Our first visit to The Travellers Rest did not disappoint. Three of us had Sunday lunch, one roast beef and two pork dinners which were absolutely delicious. We also had sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie - both lovely and I have to say the best brownie I have ever tasted. The ambience of the place is lovely, the staff were polite and friendly. The garden looked lovely so it would also be a good place to visit in the summer. My only slight concern is for vegetarians - the menu was rather limited. Otherwise, definitely worth the 30 mile trip.

Proud to call The Travellers Rest in Skeeby our local community owned pub, I visited with 3 others to sample the Sunday roast, and found it to be absolutely delicious, we had the beef, pork & chicken, it came with plentiful vegetables, gravy etc, there was also a good selection of alternatives on the menu and extremely well priced. Everything was perfect from the ambiance, the friendly attentive staff to the lovely log burner all added to a lovely Sunday afternoon. The pub is also dog friendly where they also get pampered with treats. Great for walkers as it’s located on the edge of Richmond & the Yorkshire Dales. They also promote local artists/photographers & crafters with their items for sale in the pub.

Saw they were promoting their Sunday lunch on Facebook so decided to try. Acquaintances said the meal would be cold when they heard we were going. On arrival asked for a Sherry, they didn't have any. Went to our table and after some time our order was taken during which a scruffy individual wearing a filthy apron appeared in the bar. Hubby ordered a prawn cocktail and the roast beef to which the waitress said 2 beef? No, a cocktail and beef and a cocktail and roast pork. After the order had been taken to the kitchen, she came back and asked if we wanted Paprika? The starter arrived and was basic but not too bad though hubby did have a frozen prawn. Once cleared the gravy arrived for our main followed by two cold plates loaded with a large dollop of thick mash, 2 large roast potatoes, parsnip and a slice and a half of tough overcooked beef on one plate and a large dollop of very dry stuffing, crackling and 4 small overcooked slices of pork. A cold bowl of cabbage and carrot/swede mash also arrived followed by a knife for myself and spoons to serve with. Asking for 2 red wine there was only a choice of two varieties. This did help to wash down what we did eat. The dogs will no doubt enjoy the rest. On visiting the toilets we had to pass the tiny, dirty disorganised kitchen with cooking pots piled on top of each other and food standing around. We really wanted to enjoy the lunch as the pub is being run by the community.

Called into this lovely pub with my friends en route to Catterick Races. Really nice staff, very friendly and helpful. Between us we had corned beef pie, ham/egg/chips and a Wensleydale Cheese and red onion sandwich with salad/coleslaw/chips. All the food was excellent and very well presented. The pub itself has been transformed as a Community Pub and it’s beautifully decorated with a lovely large beer garden. Everything about the pub is superb from staff, interior decoration and food. Well worth a visit.

The Travellers Rest was saved by the community & is now a busy pub. The food is really good & you have to book in advance for the Sunday Lunch as it is very popular. The staff are mainly local & are very friendly. We were let down by a different venue for my daughter's wedding reception & called into The Travellers Rest when passing. They stepped in & not only provided the venue but added little touches like borrowing a gazebo, arranging flowers, having tissue hearts on the tables & buying in lots of Prosecco. The staff made it a really special day.

Don’t be put off by the entrance because up the stairs is a cosy restaurant (and takeaway) with some of the best Asian food I’ve had in England. The waiters are really friendly and helpful, and when the food arrived it was piping hot (temperature) and full of flavour. Each dish was a very reasonable price for the size and the Royal Lamb Achari and Tandoori Chicken Murgh Masala were full of tender well spiced meat. The largest crispest Naan I’ve ever had (see photo). It is BYO, but as soon as they spotted our bottles of Tiger, they happily produced beer glasses with no corkage charges. A posh environment it isn’t but cosy, attentive and superb food gets my vote. For the two of us, five dishes, plus rice and Naan were under £40.

Wow. Utterly incredible. The tasting menu was so incredibly thought out, even for a gluten free menu where you would usually feel like an afterthought. Lots of different food combinations and exquisite pairings. Every single one of the staff from the chefs to the servers were 5 star. Thank you!
