What a great find. Booked a table for 7 of us as a birthday celebration, it was a burger weekend, but wow what a burger, it tasted amazing, different varieties were tried and loved by all of our party. Compliments to the chef. The service was fantastic and nothing was to much trouble. The scenery is outstanding and the atmosphere is great, basically if u haven't been and ur in the area it's worth a visit. We live over an hour away but will definitely go back if we travel that way. Thankyou to all the front and back of house staff to make our visit a memorable one.

We were staying at Flowery Dell nearby, and ended up going in here 4 times! Fantastic selection of ales, and lovely food. We had pies on Saturday evening, which were delicious; then Sunday Lunch which was superb. But the thing we loved most was the amazing welcome - everyone was so friendly! Each time we went in we ended up having a lovely conversation with staff or fellow guests. We absolutely loved it here!

After searching far and wide for the perfect Sunday lunch, low and behold, it is right on our doorstep, we both had the beef and lamb combo,it was perfect, full of flavour, real gravy, home made yorkshire pudding, veg not over cooked, every mouthful a delight, finished up with a tasty desert and cafeteria of coffee each, great quick service, friendly staff, very reasonable prices, stunning choice of beers. A pint of Viking, medium, white wine, 2 x lunches, 2 x deserts and 2 x cafeterias of coffee £50.25, now that is value. I cannot recommend the George and Dragon highly enough, you will not be disappointed. 5***** food 5***** service 5***** value for money 10********** flavour

We came to this lovely pub as we were staying at a local caravan site. We were made to feel really welcome as were our 2 dogs Geddy and Angus. The staff were really chatty and we had a nice time each time we came in . We had a meal one night and it was lovely couldn't fault it. I've just read that the Tennant's are leaving end of August it's a shame. Hopefully someone else will take it over as we were hoping to come back at some point.

Very nice people, tending to have a good laugh with them, carrying good conversation. Always nice to have a chat with the workers there, makes the place feel welcoming. The food was very good, as myself being a picky eater, it was one of or the best food I’ve ever had when eating out, a fast service to make it better, the chatting made the time pass by very nicely. My family said the beers, ales and ciders were very very nice also that their food was amazing. Finally, just to add on, it was very nice that they are as pet friendly as they are, makes anyone feeling welcome. Just gives the pub that local spark - Charlie and family.

My burger was raw. A bartender didn't ask me if I wanted this condition, I prefer well done meat. Toilet in horrible condition. I came here by the highest rating. Very disappointed. However the view is perfect. 3 stars to ready burger, 0 stars to a silly joke of a chef who came to speak about my country. It's better to keep your mouth locked sometimes. You have to tell people that you cook medium burgers and ask if people want them. 14.5£ and spoiled mood.

We have visited this Pub many times over the years. We have mentioned it to countless people for Beer and Food. Lovely Beer Garden. Today myself husband and our Dog walked up through the Woods to visit. We were conscious of the Mud gathered on our boots so left the path and joined the road. Taking advantage of every puddle and dry area of grass on the way. By the time we got there the soles of our Boots were clean. There may have been marks on the top of them, but that was not from today. Had our footwear been very clarty, we would have either taken them off, or not gone in. As soon as we reached the Bar a gentleman approached us and asked to put blue plastic boot covers on our feet. On telling him the soles were clean he said they are scruffy. I might add his boots did not look very clean. We had to stand in a pub with this annoying chap pulling them over our zboots. For a rural pub, in a big walking area I was astonished, we have never experienced any thing like that before. The said Jobs Worth really needs to consider that some people have a brain of their own. I said we are going outside, he replied," yes but you have got to walk across the carpet to get there. Looking back as to where we walked in, there was no trace of any mud on the floor. When we got outside and saw the new addition of the "Muddy boot box" we could not believe it. We had two rounds of Beer, which could not be faulted, but do feel this chappie was over the top. We will visit again, but not if he is in there again.

Been here before visiting the area. So brilliant to find a community pub like this- I had to come back. Arrived at lunch on Wed in late Feb. Lovely reception from staff, nice beers, fire lit. Apparently a fuller lunchtime menu now from Wed - Saturday including homemade pies! I had Thai fish cakes which were spicy, seemingly homemade and delicious. 2 local ales 4 guest ales , 4 lagers including Veltins and Budvar. Need to return again asap for the homemade cheese and onion pie I think.

Lovely little pub with a good beer selection but appalling treatment of staff by the presumed landlord. Went for drinks with friends and was served by a very sweet young lad behind the bar who was doing a great job though appeared a little flustered. The reason why was quickly apparent. The young barman addressed "Mark" perfectly politely to tell him what he planned to do next and Mark's response was a rude and snappy set down in which he humiliated the young man in front of a number of customers waiting at the bar by criticising his pint pouring. My face was hot with embarrassment on the young man's behalf and I wish I'd had the balls to say something. After leaving my husband said he'd overheard a number of other similar instances throughout the hour we were there. There is no need to treat your staff with such rudeness and contempt on any occasion but it is particularly unprofessional to do so in front of customers. Really put me off going back.

We visited the George & dragon for pre booked Sunday lunch. Unfortunately when our lunch arrived the plates were cold so the beef which was served on the plates was cold, the vegetables came in separate dishes which were also cold. We mentioned this to 3 members of staff but as we had already been told someone else was booked to use our table we felt pressured into just eating and leaving. Although the three members of staff did apologise there was no offer to amend to situation. After reading the reviews we were very very disappointed. A very friendly greeting as we entered to order our drinks and asked if we wanted to eat then they would ask the chef if they could manage an extra two. So glad. Stopped here after seeing all the great reviews.. they weren't true! The location was lovely but the food was not. My partner and friend both chose the haddock ... they came out after a long wait burnt to a crisp. When we told the waitress her reply was "sorry about that" and she walked away. My friends wife had the chicken kebab which was not chicken breast but very dry thigh meat. She also had mushy pea juice on her chips when she didn't even have peas on her plate so clearly cross contamination from another meal. I had the rabbit pie which was actually nice, the only decent meal amongst them.

My new favorite pub in the region! Lovely homemade pies (two thumbs up for both the cheese & onion, & steak & ale pie), the best mushy peas I've ever had (never really been a fan, but they make it nice & buttery), friendly very fast service (I'm quite impressed by their ticketing system), & a great outdoor area. The only part that didn't have me rooting with every bite was the crumble. Just felt a bit lacking in taste (though I appreciated that the custard wasn't too sweet). The other meals coming out looked like grand slams though (saw the hotdog & fish & chips 😍). Will certainly be back! PS- they don't take bookings, walk-in only - which was nice.
