Number 29 Alehouse & Gin Bar in Richmondshire

Very kindly slotted the two of us in without a reservation. The six dishes (chicken, meat balls, salad, bread & oils, prawns & another) we chose were just the right amount. And try the lemon meringue to finish & you won't be disappointed. Again, the service was exemplary - there must be something about Richmond.

We dropped in after a morning walk. Enjoyed the mixed platter plus a couple of extra tapas. Plus a selection from the beer, wine and gin options. All pleasant and tasty. But they get 5 stars because it was a comfortable environment. Service was friendly and efficient. And, being a cosy and welcoming environment, the customer base ends up being friendly and good natured too, which contributes to the ambience.

Visiting Richmond for a week we booked this restaurant based upon the great reviews. We were not disappointed and enjoyed our meal so much we ate there again. The atmosphere is very relaxed and convivial. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. The tapas we had on both visits were really enjoyable and tasty. We would certainly recommend this restaurant and will be back the next time we are in the area.

Pre Theatre wandered in and offered two seats at the Bar. Very pleased we stayed lovely helpful staff and delicious food

Well, just wow. From the lovely greeting, to the order being taken correctly, to the food - the amazing food - to the ambience of this cozy restaurant. Highly recommend. But would advise booking. We were lucky! Lottie is an absolute star, well done!

Visited a few times during our stay in Richmond and ate twice. Both the food and drinks menus were great, with lots of options across both. Each time we visited the staff were lovely, really helpful and friendly. Both of our meals were delicious and would definitely recommend the tapas.

Cant rate this place high enough. The food is amazing, Haggis the winner, beer choices from foreign beers to local beers, staff are efficient and friendly. Soon as you leave you're wondering when you can return. Thanks for a cracking night and hope to see you again soon. Ian.

Quite good, though most things could do with a touch more flavour/salt. However, very busy on Saturday lunchtime and the waitress did a great job.

My hubby and I were having a little minibreak in Richmond and ate at No.29 on the thirtieth anniversary of our first date. Our lovely waitress made a big fuss of us and made us feel very special. The food was delicious and the sherry even more so.

This place was a wonderful find, good choice of beers and wines, excellent food, and very friendly staff, really enjoyed our couple of visits,definitely worth calling in if your in Richmond.

We called in on the off chance as passing through. We thoroughly enjoyed our tapas choices. The stuffed sweet chilli peppers were excellent. We chose a vegetarian sharing platter and five small plates and this was perfect for three. The white Rioja and the Pale Ale were of good quality too. Hope to return for dinner

Overall fabulous place!! Went in by accident and enjoyed the food and drink thoroughly! Nice mocktail and gin. Great food, the best tiger prawn I've had in a while! Meatballs were great too! I mean it was all great - would come back!

What a great place - tapas was lovely, superb selection of gins, interesting beers and staff who were both attentive and fun. If you are in Richmond looking for a reliable and reasonable priced restaurant then this should be on your list.

We had a lovely experience here. Small and intimate with friendly and relaxed staff and a great atmosphere. The food was excellent and authentic with some unexpected pleasures such as the haggis in a cream sauce which worked very well. Extensive wine list including a couple of sherries. Prices not unreasonable. Very popular and you would need to book.

A real find. We were looking for a dog friendly place to eat and had read the great reviews of No 29 so popped by and luckily they had a table for us. The service was great, the choice of food was fantastic and every dish we had was delicious. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic food, drink and service - very friendly staff who are quick to serve. The tapas are very tasty and plenty enough is served for sharing. The ambiance is great too. Can't fault this restaurant - it's brilliant. Will be back if we holiday again in this area of Yorkshire.

Called Richmond after short walks in Swaledale, arrive 5pm. Lovely greeting & introduction to venue menu & drinks. Picked 3 each & red wine, Wow everything amazing, chef came out & chatted, made joke why going now 6pm!! He laughed and said his staff do better than him, regulars sat near us confirmed !! Can’t wait to return, 100% go and enjoy We are again 👍🏻🍷 Steve & Sue x

Just popped in for a beer, clearly a popular spot for food too judging by all the reserved tables. Well kept cask beer and a pleasant relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent. We popped in on a Sunday afternoon without a booking and got a table for 2. Lovely tapas food, especially the sea bream that was on the specials. Would definitely recommend this, and also making a reservation if you're keen to go. We'll definitely be back. The only downside is a slight lack of vegetable dishes, apart from the canarian potatoes that were lovely.

A really nice little tapas bar restaurant in Richmond. We've been a few times now and the service, food and drinks have always been great. The service is always friendly, the food very prompt and tasty, and also a very good beer selection - usually of local ales. Would recommend. Oh, and dog friendly too! 🐾

Went here because the bar was in the good beer guide. 3 craft real ales all were really good We did not have food as we only went in for a drink but plenty being served & looked & smelled great Now to service , absolutely brilliant , the girl behind the bar made every person feel welcome , very efficient , highly professional I think a lot of establishments in the hospitality should bring their staff here to see how it is done If you are in Richmond do yourself a favour & visit this bar

This is a great little bar and the tapas is excellent. Very friendly staff. Lovely wine and cask ale which my husband said was excellent. I would recommend booking well worth a visit or two.

Went into the bar with my wife for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat. Outstanding service and the food was beautiful. Very good value for the money.

We arrived just before 10pm after going to the cinema and were welcomed despite the time. The atmosphere is relaxed and stylish with helpful staff. We enjoyed delicious tapas and excellent wine and gin. Highly recommended!

We had a selection of lots of the tapas dishes of the main menu ( which had lots of choice) & tried both specials - all dishes were excellent- really tasty & cooked perfectly. We also couldn't resist the Bakewell tart to finish- which again was delicious, paired with some lovely port. Service was excellent - all staff were welcoming, attentive & friendly & the ambience was warm & intimate. Thoroughly recommend!

It was amazing! Food was delicious and each tapas had a unique flavour. You could taste the quality of ingredients. We have ordered haggis which was on special menu and it was the best decision.

Visited Number 29 whilst on a break in Richmond with our friends last weekend. We all agreed it was wonderful choice that we made. All the staff made us very welcome even though we arrived late due to a car breakdown. The restaurant is small which adds to the atmosphere. We ordered a sharing board as a starter and it was more than enough for four of us. We continued with four different tapas and enjoyed all of them. The prices for both food and drink are very reasonable for the quality you get. Number29 is a must if staying or near Richmond. We will definitely return when we are in the area.

Glad we booked a table to make sure we got seated as it became quite busy during our visit. There is a great variety of options which were all excellent other than the greek salad which could have been better. Service was spot on. An apology from us. We each assumed that one of us had left a tip but didn't realise that we hadn't until next day. Sorry ladies.

Small bistro- recommend booking. Great beer and wine. Small plates with vegetarian options. Food is good but, as you’d expect, some dishes better than others. Exceptionally friendly and efficient staff. Great evening to be had.

We visited #29 twice whilst recently visiting Richmond. The first time for tapas which was tasty, well presented and served in a warm and friendly manner. The second time was just for a drink where we enjoyed a couple of their craft beers. Craft beer seems to be something that seems to be lacking on the whole in Richmond so we very much enjoyed this visit too.

Call in this little tapas every time we go into Richmond..however we were there Sunday with family and found the restaurant very cold ..with no atmosphere no smell of the food cooking when the food came it lacked the eat with your eyes appeal ..the Spanish chicken we ordered was nice but hardly any sauce as was the meat balls ..don’t know if this is just a one off because they weren’t busy because normally you can’t find a fault ,

A friend booked a tapas meal for us, saying it was a small place but good. She couldn’t have been more on point. It’s small, comfortable and personal and more importantly, delicious!!! We were welcomed really nicely and placed at the window bar until our booked time came around. The staff looked after us really well and we were given our table. There are specials available which change regularly apparently. I went for four dishes; haggis in a creamy white wine sauce; meatballs in red pepper sauce; prawns in a spicey garlic sauce; and chorizo with sauce I’ve forgotten. I can easily say this was one of the most tasty meals I’ve had for a long time. I decided to also have a bread selection to soak up the gorgeous sauces. Much needed!! Don’t waste the sauces!!

Excellent Friendly Service and Superb Tapas and Drinks. Booked by telephone at short notice and staff went the extra mile to put on a superb culinary experience. Range and quality of tapas was great for 4 family members with different tastes. Good choice of hand pull beers. Good. Choice of wines and gins. Really enjoyable experience. Thank you we had a great visit and would come again when in the vicinity with the venue being first choice.

First visit and it did not disappoint.The service was excellent ,the food was excellent. We were a party of 5, we had the meat/ cheese sharing platters to start, then we selected 2 dishes each from the menu and shared them. The olive bread,olives,marinated chicken,haggis and aubergine and courgette bakes were delicious. The staff were very efficient and friendly food served promptly. Will definitely return and recommend a visit.

We needed lunch and came upon this fantastic little Tapas Bar by chance. It has a bar that serves excellent beer and a kitchen that produces delicious tapas. We had three dishes, ideal for a traveller's lunch. Aubergine and courgette with a tomato sauce. It was the standout dish, the sauce complimenting the veg without drowning it. Great black pudding and chorizo, and good mushrooms in a garlicky sauce. They were serving an extraordinary chocolate milk stout on draft. I had a half for pudding! Tasted like Christmas. There is a car park close by. Thoroughly recommend, worth diverting if you are en route nearby.

After a hard day out in the sun I decided to venture the Number 29 Tapas bar for my dinner. Upon entering I was instantly greeted by the very welcoming staff members they directed me to a my spot for the evening. ( A beautiful window view table ) I'm quite the fussy eater, but I am trying to experience new foods. Running two stores in leyburn I know that customer service is paramount in any business. A lovely young server named Maia diligently talked me through all my options. I have never met a server as kind and courteous as her. Her customer service is unmatched! She is a credit to this restaurant and truly made the fabulous dineng experience that much better! I tried a few diffent options for food my choices. Haggis in a honey wheat mustard sauce. Chorizo in a divine tomato sauce. Hummus and some different options of soft freshly baked breads. And a beautiful selection of cured meats. My god the food was on another level of amazing I especially loved the haggis. I then enjoyed a brownie and ice cream for pudding. Presentended beautiful on the plate! And I washed it all down with a delish recommend white wine. Everything was beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening! I would highly recommend!

Great place if you don't know how hungry you are. Busy, but they found us a place at the bar till a table was free.

I found this little tapas bar on my 1st trip to Richmond and I can safely say I’m glad I did 👌🏼 the guy that served me was helpful and friendly and the food was spot on 😊 it tasted so fresh and amazing flavours 🙏 so glad I went in here for lunch , I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be returning 😊

Very good selection of real local ales, European lager and Brockmans gin! Also, a good selection of tapas dishes. All in all, it was a nice spanish tavern rustic feel which complemented the food and provided a nice continental atmosphere!

The food was good albeit not particularly inventive. Given that it was quite pricey we were expecting a little more both in terms of quality and quantity. Still the service was great and the staff conjured up a really warm and friendly atmosphere.

Visited here twice over this weekend 14/15 th july, tapas were great as were the beers and wine, staff really good, would recommend if in richmond to try this place, small but perfectly formed.

Lovely little tapas bar with great drinks. We had quite a selection of the food and finished it all. Friendly and quick service and accommodating of our baby (the bench seating helped with this!). Reasonably priced too.

Fab authentic tapas bar, food was very fresh and service excellent; well kept beer and good cocktails.

Lovely little local business that's not right in the centre of town so not as busy as the other pubs and restaurants. Staff friendly and welcoming, felt very comfortable the minute I walked in the door. The chef also came out for a chat with us which was lovely. A wonderful experience and will definitely be back.

Came today for my birthday and had the sharing platter then ordered the chocolate fudge cake which came with a candle and the customers sang happy birthday to me which was really lovely, I would recommend this to everyone. Thank you all so much for making my day xx.
