Used the Tesla supercharger for 28 mins (I know this from my PCN) and received a fine 3 months later. I saw the signs so went into reception and let the staff know I was using a charger, they said it was no problem (I wasn't offered an iPad to log my details, I only know this as I called the hotel to complain upon receipt of fine). I even spent money on a coffee, I wasn't offered a discount either which the hotel claims for charging customers. Having spoke to the Hotel today they are clearly not interested in helping me, having sat at my computer and read these reviews it's clear that the business ethics are at rock bottom for Holiday Inn. Even when I tried to do the right thing I wasn't given the correct information and will suffer a fine on a technicality. Avoid.

The pizza base was undercooked and still doughy. Expectations were high with a pizza oven on view but this was no better than bought in pizza. Other main was Ok. Shame for the staff who were friendly and very helpful. Nice decor but rest was over-rated.

Stopped for a quick car charge. Stumbled across here, I've always got time for mussels! Surprised to find they were probably the best I've ever had, so fresh & sauce was dreamy! Bread had lovely texture, soft crunch, herby, amazing! Staff friendly! I'll stop to charge again, just to eat the mussels! Also 10% discount on food/drinks if charging :)

We were looking for a quick but decent lunch while using at the on-site Tesla supercharger adjacent to the Holiday Inn. We were going to visit KFC over the other side of the roundabout but we’re attracted by the ‘pasta and pizza for £5” advert at Fratello’s at HIG. Service was excellent, friendly but not overbearing. Food was very good. I’d recommend the salsiccia risotto. Total came to £25 for 4 people. Can’t fault it!

I had pizza at the coffee house (I suppose it's the same pizza you get at the restaurant). I wouldn't know where to start from: the base was not stretched properly and was over-worked - of course pizza dough needs to just be stretched. The tomato passata was horrible, watery and almost tasting like ketchup. What's even worse, the pizza was undercooked, especially the base, which was even soft. A stupid amount of cheese on top of it completed this sad picture.

Had a table reservation but arrived early. Not asked for name or reservation time.. Went in turned towards the restaurant, "No, not there, in the bar". We found our own table and waited, and waited, and waited. Tables were cleared, no-one approached us with a menu or anything. More tables cleared, (that means a coffee cup removed), we waited and waited. In the end we got up and as we walked out I said cancel the table reservation. OK was the reply. Could not have cared less. We also noticed that a couple who arrived a few minutes before us, we saw them park, also walked out.

Staying in area searched for somewhere to eat Fratello’s came up so we rang and booked a table due to COVID wanted to make sure could be accommodated before we drove there. The phone system has an option for Fratello’s Postcode in Tripadvisor is incorrect takes you to a housing estate correct postcode is: DL10 6NR. We rang back to get correct postcode. Option for Fratello’s and they actually answer as Fratello’s. They are joined to a Holiday Inn and it’s a bad location straight off a roundabout into car park plus there is a massive hole in the road which we could not see at 8:30pm in the wet weather. Walked into hotel was greeted by reception shouting that they are not taking any walk ins at this time explained we had a booking. We were taken to a table in the bar area, the actual restaurant we had read reviews on and rang up & actually believed we had booked a table in was closed. Told they are serving the food in the bar area. Given menu not even Italian food, just bar food. I suggest that they don’t answer the phone as Fratello’s or take bookings for Fratello’s restaurant whilst it’s closed and they are not serving Fratello’s menu in their bar. Staff seemed confused by our confusion absolute shambles but it was late and we were tired & hungry the food was actually ok and place was clean with one way system in place and tables socially distanced.

We were staying in the Holiday Inn and eating here was our easiest option but the service and the food was very good. The staff wore visors and were judiciously cleaning the table after each guest and were using disposable menus. The strict measures put in place should help reassure that they are doing their best to prevent COVID. As vegetarians we had the veg pasta, veg burger that is served with chips and a salad and one of us had a panini (also served with salad and chips). We also tried the dessert and also the beer and John Smith IPA.

Not the places fault that it wasn’t very busy but there was no real atmosphere maybe because it’s attached to a hotel and not seen as a real out and out restaurant. The service was friendly and the food of a good standard but not good enough to offset the lack of atmosphere. Prices were fine.

Friends took us here for a meal on a Saturday evening. She had booked a table for 4, the staff knew nothing of the booking, but that was ok as the restaurant was not busy. We ordered drinks, water with ice and lemon, and our mains. The waitress was friendly. The drinks arrived and then we waited. Our waitress disappeared, so we asked another for our water which eventually came but without ice and lemon. After 30-45 min the food eventually came. Mine was a lukewarm, overpriced and not particularly nice chilli prawn pasta. My partner had a very badly presented Spag Bol and a limp looking salad. We didn’t complain as we didn’t want to upset our hosts. We weren’t offered Parmesan or pepper so asked for it. One friend declined Parmesan explaining to me he didn’t like cheese, at which point the waitress decided to chip into out conversation explaining which cheeses she liked and which she didn’t. Whilst we were waiting for our food and eating I noticed a man sitting on his own sending his meal back to the kitchen. A second meal arrived and he sent that back too. He saw me looking and said his steaks had been cremated. He seemed happier with his 3rd steak. Our plates were cleared and we were then forgotten about for another 30 min or so. We asked for the sweets menu. After another long wait, we ordered sweets to be followed by coffee. A mistake, because the coffee came first and was lukewarm. Never mind, by this stage we just wanted to get away. The sweets were ok, but small, and over-priced. After 2.5 hr for 2 courses, we asked for the bill. Well what a shambles. We were were shown one bill which was not ours. We offered to tell the waitress what we had eaten but she was stressed and didn’t want our help. Another table was having a similar problem and told us they were so fed up they were retiring to the lounge until it was sorted. We eventually got a correct bill but initially couldn’t pay as the card machine was broken. A second card machine had to be found. After almost 3 hr, we eventually departed. That night both myself and my partner felt we had upset stomachs.

We have been here before, but I'm this occasion. We waited ages for drinks, there was a 'shortage' of mayo so we're given 2-3 sachets at a time, between two children and two adults. Before out starters arrived I had to take my baby outside to get her to sleep. Whilst out the starters came, no offered to keep it warm in the kitchen etc. So my husband was not happy. Would not go back. At our local pub our children often get a full pizza with a children's meal. Here they got a slice!! The servers were polite but just very slow. One asking if we were finished we replied no, as children were still eating, and she started clearing until my husband said we still aren't finished!! We both had steaks, no steak knives. Just not a good experience.

Fratello’s Italian Restaurant is accessed from inside the Holiday Inn hotel so is very convenient if staying at the hotel but also popular with non-hotel guests. The butterfly chicken breast was delicious, beaten breast of chicken grilled with a hint of garlic, served with chips and salad, and the Lamb Cassoulet with Gnocchi was excellent, served with chilled white wine made an excellent evening meal for us after our long journey. After a really good night’s sleep in the Holiday Inn we enjoyed a fabulous breakfast in Fratello’s. Food was plentiful, lots of choice and excellent service from the lovely staff. The lady server in the evening and the gentleman at breakfast were pleasant, efficient and very interesting to talk to. We shall definitely eat here again when next staying at the Holiday Inn.

We had travelled an hour to reach the venue, 2 groups travelling from 2 directions so we could celebrate Father's Day. Your booking system made a huge mistake. The venue offered bar meals but that wasn't what we wanted. We had to make alternative arrangements or we be disappointed. Normally I avoid Italian restaurants, however my wife loves pasta. So we tried Fratellos. I was in for a surprise. Spotless restaurant, friendly and attentive staff, and a varied menu. Started with garlic mussels and clams, followed by the thinnest pizza base I have ever seen. Normally I cannot eat a whole pizza - too much bread. This pizza was based on a wafer like base, crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. Ate the whole thing. Must rethink my attitude to Italian cuisine.

Interesting take on Italian food, the mantra here seemed to be use far too much oil, tomato puree and garlic! Our pasta disheswere ruined by the above. On completion another long wait before the table was cleared. Waited 10 mins for the menus and then had to chase for someone to take the order. 15 minutes later (the restaurant now almost empty) out came the deserts. We didn't bother with Coffee. We felt that the service was a little sparse as there was no attempt to find if we wanted desert of coffees. We spoke to the duty manager and we were given a complimentary drink, and when we made our way out to Pay he did confirm that he would give a further 50% reduction due to the difficulties experienced during the evening. We were looking forward to our meal here because of a previous enjoyable meal at Fratellos in Newcastle airport. We ordered a bottle of sparkling water while we studied the menu. A bottle of still water came with two odd sized glasses and a piece of lemon in one! About ten minutes later the waitress came back and rectified the problem. We ordered a starter to share of a platter of olives , hummus, artichokes and music bread. After waiting 40 minutes for a cold starter we alerted the waitress. We had obviously been forgotten because it was brought out immediately. The second we had finished our starter, our mains arrived, which I think is very poor restaurant service. The pizzas were of good quality but the oil used to dress the salad was unpalatable. All in all, a poor experience and disappointing after our previous delicious meal in Newcastle.

However, found it to be a disappointment this time. The menu was a bit limited unless you wanted pizza or pasta. Settled for a ribeye but had hoped for a more "Italian" main such as Chicken Cacciatore or Tuscan sausage. When it arrived it was a bit overdone and the plate itself was barely warm. I have eaten in Fratello's at the Holiday Inn Scotch Corner many times and it has been the attraction of Fratello's that is one of the main reasons why I have chosen to use this hotel in the past. However this week's experiences have not been as good as previous visits, the restaurant has been quite busy this week (a good thing) but the service has suffered. This is not just because they were busy but also because of the attitude of some of the staff who came across as being unfriendly. It also seems a bit odd that a 'cooked to order' pizza is delivered to the table before a glass of wine that was ordered at the same time. There was one particular chap who stood out from the rest because of his cheerful and helpful approach, but unfortunately he appeared to be working in the bar area and only came into the restaurant occasionally.

Checked in and was asked if we wanted to book a table, they were very busy apparently but had times after 8pm so thought fine and booked. Had a 8:30pm booking arrived at 8:30 and restaurant wasn't exactly packed but it appears the kitchen is also used for the food in the bar and the bar area was busier. Sat down and a very stressed/moody waitress attended to us and informed us of a 30-45 minute wait for food took our drinks order and disappeared for another 15 minutes. Got our order in and food actually arrived in just under half an hour so not too bad until we got to eating the food, pasta was massively under cooked, garlic bread was pretty poor and overall it was a very disappointing meal. Better off going to a Zizzi or Prezzo for half the price if there is one local. Didn't bother to complain as it would probably have involved more waiting so just paid up and left the restaurant still hungry after leaving half the food after leaving the house at 10am and driving for 7 hours this was pretty disappointing.

My husband and I ordered pizza. It was cold when it arrived and there wasn't much of a topping. The tiramisu was awful. Sainsburys do a much better version and I would even rather have Aldi tiramisu than from the restaurant. Not a great experience.

We were staying at a Travelodge nearby & they recommend this restaurant. Freshly cooked food & friendly serving staff. We could've eaten cheaper elsewhere but would not have had the quality.

Booked online, which was confirmed by email. Traveled 40 miles from Newcastle to arrive and find restaurant was closed (apparently for a month) but there was no indication of this on the website. Were given an alternative meal in the hotel bar but this was not the Italian meal we were expecting

The food was fine and the staff were very attentive. I think the dessert menu was a bit limited in choice and didn't have enough variety of Italian sweets for me.

We stayed at the hotel and decided to eat here. Handy as it is in the hotel so not far to walk. A reasonable choice of starters and main meals at a reasonable price. We chose a chicken dish and a risotto for me. Very tasty but if there was a problem too much garlic for our tastes. Nice wine but a bit pricey for a bottle . The best tiramisu I have ever tasted and I have tasted a few . Took it back to our room to finish. Espressos a bit colder thann we would have liked . All in all a nice meal

Was able to book online. Varied menu, specialising in Italian, but catering for British as well. Generous portions, well cooked and cheerfully served. It is in the Holiday Inn, so it is easy to park.

Good food served cheerfully. Good sized portions. Pity no pan score.

Raining heavily at dinner time, so I decided to eat in rather than take the short walk across the A1 junction and into nearby village.Food was OK, but nothing special. Pasta sauce was too homogenised, and little taste. Red onion in salad was getting a bit old. We'll see what breakfast offering is like in morning!

While staying in the Holiday at Scotch corner visit Fratello's restaurant, the staff are very helpful and courteous, it's inexpensive and they cater for everyone. You don need to be staying in bed he hotel to eat here, but I think it helps as you can eat drink and go to bed.

Visited as we were staying at the Scotch Corner Hotel. Food was good Italian style - tasty and mostly fresh ingredients. Reasonable value given the postition - fairly captive audience. Good service. Watch out for the Tomato & Basil soup as it's quite garlicky - very tasty though!

This is part of the Holiday Inn A1 Scotch Corner, we had a carvery and dessert, they gave you plenty of meat and I went up to get extra stuffing and condiments. You just helped yourself to the veg and I did feel a bit of a glutton but compared to other peoples plates, mine was fine.

Pretty nice pizza, bit greasy but fairly on par for a takeaway pizza. Reasonably priced and quick efficient service.

Not sure if we chose badly or the food just wasn't great. So will leave that one there. The dessert was delicious. Drinks were OK and service was good and polite! Bit loud but it was busy.
