On our way back from the cotswolds we decided to stop for breakfast here and we were not disappointed, friendly staff who cooked the best breakfast I have ever had ( the sausages are amazing!) Would recommend you try this place x

We looked at the 'new February menu' online and there was also an offer of 2 courses for £15, so thought we'd give it a go. Rang to see if they had a table and booked for Saturday 2pm, we were given a menu that had about 3 starters and 3 mains (no offer). So ordered off the sparse menu. The 2 mains, that were described as thick cut ham and 2 eggs, had 2 thin slices of ham and l egg. I questioned this and was told no it only comes with one egg. (Asked when I paid and was shown the menu/piece of paper it was 2 eggs , she apologised) We had pie which said it came with green beans but actually came with a shared bowl of raw cabbage leek and peas, there was a small amount of chips and lukewarm gravy. £17 each ! Cheapest bottle of wine was £22. The place was quite cold too. Maybe we picked the wrong time of day! I’d have thought 2pm Saturday would be pretty popular but the place was empty, I can see why. They need to change their menu on the social media sites as it’s very misleading . Won’t be returning , had cheese and biscuits when we got home as everyone was still peckish, shame really as it’s really convenient and we used it a lot in the summer months.

Now the roast menu is back Sunday lunch was just brilliant! Generous portions of tender roast beef in my case, well prepared vegetables and an excellent Yorkshire pudding with a very tasty gravy. The mixed berry crumble to follow was of the same high standard. The decor may be a bit tired but the food and good value more than make up for that.

We went for lunch on my birthday, booked over a week beforehand. We arrived into a very traditional country pub. Stone floors and hops hanging from oak beams. Warm and attractive. We confirmed our booking with the barman. He pointed at a table in a raised area and said 'you're there '. It was a small table in an area that looked like a store room. A lot of unlaid tables, dirty carpet with trodden in food, no-one else there, overlooking the noisy main road. Nibbles of cheese topped garlic bread was OK. My husband had ordered fish & chips and I ordered slow cooked rib of beef. When it arrived the fish was small, served on a huge portion of deep fried frozen chips. Very greasy and unpleasant. My rib of beef, according to the menu was to be served with red wine jus and kale. The beef had clearly been cooked quite a lot earlier and stored, then to be reheated for service. It should have been fall apart tender, but I could have bounced it off the wall. No kale in sight. Instead undercooked broccoli, parsnips that hadn't been cored, so were inedible and no jus, just boring powdered gravy. Nobody asked if we were happy with the food at any time. Just awful. I vote with my feet... we won't return

Drove here for Sunday lunch today. The place is a bit out in the sticks and near a local golf club so you need a good local knowledge or a decent sat nav to find it. We booked in advance and the place was packed out while we were there. We sat by the window and the only difficulty with this was that when the food came over there was hardly any space on the table to put everything. We had the beef dinner and opted for the meat to be pink rather than well done. My wife had a Pepsi followed by a salted caramel milk shake while I had two cups of coffee. When the food came over we were presented with two empty plates before the meal was presented. The Yorkshire puddings were large and all cooked, there was parsnip and carrots, we ordered some cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets (as additional extras), a plate of Roast Potatoes, some home made mint sauce, some spring cabbage but no boiled potatoes. The gravy was made with red wine and was a little thin, but who's complaining. My wife thought it was excellent. The meat also came separately sliced on a plate with the carrots and parsnips. As there was so much food and we took some time to get through it all, some of the heat went out of it in the end. Taking a bit of everything from the dishes filled our plates to the rafters. We ended up here for over 90 minutes in total. When we got the bill it was £60, including the drinks where I had two Coffee's and my wife had the Pepsi and the milkshake with Whipped Cream on top, which included a £6.00 optional service charge. Overall, the food was magnificent and we would definitely recommend this place to anyone if they have transport. Where we were visiting, three families with young children were also present so high chairs are also available for those who need them. Excellent value for money and if the children get bored while waiting there is always a Reindeer in the back for them to visit. The only downside is that the toilets are outside and with only one cubicle for each sex, if you're not careful you might get caught up in the rain while you're waiting outside.

You are so missing a trick here!! This should be a thriving busy cafe. You don’t have enough staff to service the tables and they need training, just simple training in efficiency and customer care. It shouldn’t take 8 mins to order three hot drinks and two snacks. The person at the till kept repeating the order and looking at the tray then they ordered a vegan toastie in error and had to change it. We then waited 25 minutes for the toastie and it had virtually no cheese and four slivers of tomato, see pics below. The courtyard still has wasps pestering clients. You need to site a wasp feeder away from the courtyard maybe near the kitchen garden- wasps are very smart they will find it and keep away from your visitors. Improve service, increase the through put of visitors and make more money! It’s not hard.

Over all very nicely set out clean and well maintained waiting staff extremely friendly and as helpful as they possibly could be bar staff also friendly food nice and hot cooked well and presented well definitely recommend . Only downside to the village country pub/hotel is the absolute rudeness of some of its dining customers towards staff these people serve with manors and politeness I witnessed customers speaking towards staff like they own them and were extremely rude /nasty /demanding who the hell do they think they are. If you plan on a visit at least have respect for the hardworking people there . Definitely recommend eating and drinking just be wary who your seated by

Popped into to the pub for a drink but couldn’t access the door at the back of the pub due to the steps being blocked by a Volkswagen SUV. We went through to the front of the pub and was greeted by a man sitting in the corner doing some book keeping and to make matters worse, at 1pm in the afternoon, there was a hoover laying around with cleaning supplies. Not at all impressed, will not be returning. It’s a shame as the pub from the outside looks quite nice.

I went with friends, when we saw the prices we almost walked out, I wish we had. The food we had was tasteless and luck warm. We even found an open salad cream wrapper in with the sauces!!! This could serious health problems. The staff didn't look happy to be there, the whole experience was dreadful. Not to be repeated. What a shame, what has gone wrong to cause the food and atmosphere to go so do downhill???

Wanted Sausage Roll and Tuna sandwich and told to order and pay at till. There was 1 woman serving a gentleman already so stood to the side of him to wait. Then another woman joined queue to my left, then another. Before the gentleman was finished a second member of staff went to the other till (directly in front of 2 women to my left) and said 'next'. I pointed out that I was next and she motioned for me to move in front of her, which I couldn't. She then said (abrubtly) if I didn't want to order/pay then she would serve someone else. If I had been on my own I would have walked out but I was with an 87 year old relative and my mobility isn't great either. The food was appalling!!! Sausage roll was luke warm / cold in middle and grossly overpriced at £6.95. Tuna in sandwich I think had come straight out of tin with no seasoning or mayo and cost £9.95. The place (don't want to call it a restaurant) was very busy and chaotic. I'm surprised that with so many bad reviews for so many years things haven't improved. Needless to say will not return. 😟
