The service could not be faulted! Unfortunately the beef tartare was inedible as the beef was very tough! Other dishes were pretty good; scallops, pigeon and trout all fine. Wine by the glass selection could be enhanced. Cremant at £10 was very good and reasonably priced too!

We were looking for a nice place to drink and have some food, local to where we are staying - this place turned out not to be as nice as it looks and read about. We walked in and saw a lovely bar area and nice fitted out area all over. We asked for some drinks and sat down, but shortly afterwards a chap joined some others sat nearby on a different table and began talking. Personally at work I am used to this language, BUT not when I am with my wife in a nice looking place with reasonable reviews. It turned out this chap is STAFF, as he ended up behind the bar then getting some ice for the barman (virtually every other work was an F word or a “bloody” word. Yes, a lot of males in the pub but for me this language was unacceptable with a lady in the area and also young child walking around the bar area (I think he was a local to the bar). We will not return and if anyone is looking for a nice bar, suggest you think twice about here unless you like really bad language! I am used to bad language, due to my work and lifestyle (motorcycle rider and also a delivery driver) but this language should not be acceptable in a public bar/restaurant!

I’ve visited this establishment in the past, and always found it to be welcoming and efficient. On my latest visit nothing had changed. I was greeted with a smile and politely shown to my table. At this point I must take up previous reviews which state the contrary. All I can say to those clampets who gave bad reviews, just be civil and polite and the staff will return the favour, they are human after all!! Ok, now the fayre, as my title states, “absolutely insane”. Need I say more, yes I will. The lamb tikka starter melted in the mouth, the chicken chilli masala was so succulent, and the rice was as fresh as the proverbial daisy. All in all the most wonderful Indian experience I’ve had in many a year. Again I reiterate, ignore all those ridiculous negative reviews, these people are not worthy. I have over 1.8 million readers on my page, so who would you believe?

We only stopped in for a drink before dinner, ( alas) , as this place was so warm , inviting, and full of charm. I really wish we'd eaten there, as it did look and feel like it would have been better than where we ate, but we will know for again!!. Stunning history to the place, and showcased to great effect- the décor was really postcard worthy. Plus a lot of credit to the staff, ( the bar mans name was Cameron , I think) who took the time and effort to tell us a lot about the building, and the relevance of the stuff on display. His knowledge and friendliness, added a lot to our, (too short) visit. Like i say I will insist on staying there next time- top marks

After a harrowing performance of Othello at the RSC the bar staff at the Blue Boar provided gentle sympathy and excellent Pinot Grigio. Food in the restaurant was well cooked and served by attentive waitresses . The room was comfortable, clean and the water was hot. Many thanks to Stephen for a delicious breakfast and good conversation. We look forward to staying at the Blue Boar again.

Five of us had a meal here again and it was excellent. Four of us had a set menu ( great choice ) service and food was excellent. The duck was very well cooked and had really good flavours. Family run with great attention to detail and so welcoming. What a great choice for a meal. We will be back.

We are regular visitors to Hillers and visited the Garden Cafe again yesterday 23/10/24 for lunch. The food is always excellent, but felt that the Sausage and Mash and the presentation we had was exceptional in the quality of the dish and presentation. Our compliments to the Chef, Kitchen and Serving Staff, keep up the good work.

Now a small restaurant at the side of a pub in Shipston, I imagine that like us, most people order takeaway food from Chutneys. The starters and mains we ordered were excellent, really tasty and it'll take a few more visits to decide if this is better than the improved Shipston Bengal, which it may well be.
