Mr. Chan's in Stratford-on-Avon

Five of us had a meal here again and it was excellent. Four of us had a set menu ( great choice ) service and food was excellent. The duck was very well cooked and had really good flavours. Family run with great attention to detail and so welcoming. What a great choice for a meal. We will be back.

It's been a few Years 2019 our last vist but the service and food was still excellent. Fortunately we had pre-booked making it a stress free experience.

Highly recommended to me, so I organised an outing for a group of neighbours. All of us were extremely impressed. Warm welcome, good service, friendly staff. Food excellent - all of us agreed, and there was a variety of different dishes ordered, which received an enthusiastic ’thumbs up’ all round. Overwhelming opinion as we left: we would all go back without hesitation, as a group or as couples.

We’ve really struggled to find a decent Chinese in the area and Mr Chan’s is I’m pleased to say the best we have found. Great Food tonight , extensive options , good quality and excellent value. Really enjoyed the evening. Only reason for not scoring 5 is the Decor , needs a repaint and the Loos need bringing up to date please.

Debated going here as there were a number good reviews but one or two bad. Well I can confirm that the good reviews were very true to form. Staff excellent, service excellent, food excellent. What more do you want!

The food is consistently great here- Amy and the team do a wonderful job in keeping a busy restaurant buzzing along. The great atmosphere and the wonderful food means we keep coming back

What a great meal. We chose the set meal B and the giant garlic prawns were out of this world, the beef in a cantonese sauce was so very good. Everything we at was spot on and decent portions, friendly staff, good busy atmosphere and proper table cloths. We did not book, although will in future, but only had to wait ten mins even though they were busy. 10 out of 10.

It was great to see Mr Chan's takeaway open again last night. We ordered a set meal for 3 and I can honestly say each dish was truly delicious and more than enough for 3. Their prices, considering the quality of food are extremely reasonable. The whole thing was such a treat as we are currently unable to eat in their restaurant due to Covid 19. It. certainly won't be long before our next visit and many thanks to the friendly and efficient staff.

V busy, had to book in advance, large menu, ordered a banquet, food was tasty esp the duck and pancakes and the beef dish but the noodles were v spicy and the chicken too sticky. Probably a good meal rather than v good.

The standards have slipped since Mr Chan sold up a few years ago. The food is still excellent, well priced and fresh. However some of the staff wear tracksuit trousers and scruffy trainers and the decor is very dated. Needs a complete refurbishment. Suggest takeaway only.

We had umm’d and ah’d about going for a meal due to the mixed reviews but we’re very pleased we did. The service was very efficient, the food tasted great and we really enjoyed ourselves. I would recommend a visit!

I don’t usually leave reviews but I feel I should save you all time, money and disappointment! On holiday in nearby caravan park so popped up for a quick takeaway for myself and my mother. Just two chicken curries with fried rice. I’ve never been served such a bland curry in my entire life! It was literally like a pack of cheap yellow sauce, chopped chicken and onion. More onion than chicken! Absolutely rubbish, avoid at all costs! I’m shocked that the locals here would accept such substandard food quality!

My favourite restaurant in Stratford-Upon-Avon, it never lets me down, the food and the staff are amazing. I would recommend.

We’d been recommended Mr Chan’s by our Air BnB host. Really nice Chinese takeaway and the food is really nice. Just as good as our usual back at home in Sheffield. If you’re staying on the Stratford Parks sites, definitely get a takeaway from here.

awful!! we got a takeaway and there was a fried rice and curry sauce missing, when we called they didn’t believe it was missing, terrible customer service, they asked for a photo of the food we had. They expected us to drive back to tiddington from stratford which i understand isn’t far but still uses petrol. We would not return again.

Absolute Shambles went to book a table at 6. 15 pm and were told in the restaurant there was no tables until 7.30pm. Went at the said time and were told to take a seat and look at the menu. 20 minutes passed and no service. People were walking past and going into the restaurant to tables. How can anybody run a restaurant like this . We left disgusted. Crap.

Yum, Yum and Yum. Delicious food. Great staff. Good location. Great selection from the menu. Shame I live 4 hours away otherwise I would become a regular.

Used to be very good and worth travelling to, unfortunately the ingredients for the dishes were very much catering quality. Seemed to be a lot of bought out dishes that lacked any flavour and it appears to be a case of increasing the price whilst reducing the quality. Shame, but we won't be back, the staff were friendly and service was prompt but with so many options locally.......

4 of us had spring rolls and spicy ribs for starters and all had Chicken Curries for main, outstanding as usual, will be back soon.

It was a 7 minute walk from the Riverside caravan park, absolutely tasty and delicious takeaway and was still hot when we got back, would certainly recommend the food here. When we got back we got stuck into the best Chinese ever, thank you Mr Chan food was amazing and would certainly visit you again.

We ate orange chicken and vegetable chow mein with rice. Crisp non oily battered chicken. Lots of it. Very tasty slightly smoky stir fry with a lot of different ingredients including bamboo shoots. Again it was fresh and non oily. Good mix of flavours. They also said that they could do tofu for me next time as I am vegetarian which is good news.

We had the banquet menu with an extra portion of salt and pepper squid. It was outstanding! Good Covid precautions and excellent service. We keep returning here with friends an guarantee great food and an amazing evening. Family run and friendly . Good wine list.

Pato crujiente y tortitas muy normales, pato no pegado o crujiente. Decepcionante. Los platos principales eran muy normales. El arroz hervido estaba empapado y en grumos, pobre. La carne de res con frijoles negros era bastante dura y los precios demasiado altos. Pobre. las gambas con anacardos eran razonables, ¡pero juega a cazar anacardos! Otros miembros del partido también se sintieron decepcionados. Realmente es una pena, ya que la visita de la dama fue de primera clase. El restaurante estaba bastante al principio, pero pronto se llenó y, mirando a su alrededor, parecía que los tiempos de espera para la comida eran bastante largos. Obviamente tienen personal de cocina diferente que no está a la altura del estándar anterior. Wonderful food and the service was really nice, warm welcome, it’s not fancy dining but it is worth the 1.4 mile walk from the centre of Stratford.

Me alegró ver que están participando en el programa Eat Out to Help Out que solía visitar con regularidad, pero dado que se mudó un poco más lejos, ya no era mi local, ¡una buena excusa para regresar!Reservé una mesa para 2 con bastante retraso, y parecía que habían apretujado una mesa extra para nosotros (¡muy agradecidos por esto en realidad!) Pero todavía estábamos bien distanciados, así que no hubo problemas. Todo el personal llevaba máscaras faciales que siempre es bueno ver.La comida era excelente, pedimos unos entrantes para compartir, y cada plato era increíble, sin decepciones. La tostada de gambas también era realmente buena.No es el servicio más asombroso del mundo, pero no le quitó la increíble comida y el excelente ambiente. We booked a table for 4 and were very happy with the way in which they were socially distanced. The tables had paper cloths which were changed after use. The service was very good and the staff were very attentive, professional and friendly. We had crispy duck starter followed by Chicken with lemon sauce, Kung Po Chicken and Chicken with Cashew nuts and it was all excellent : )

Booked with family while camping in Stratford. Restaurant decor is slightly dated but the food is incredible. We ordered the set menu along with a few other dishes. Would highly recommend the satay chicken, delicious. Really lovely staff and great value for money.

Had a lovely meal for four of us. All meals were cooked to perfection with top quality ingredients. Couldn’t fault the service nor the price even had not been with the eat out to help out discount.

Popped in here during a weekend break in the area. Reviews were positive so tried it out. Bit dodgy communication regarding parking was told could park next door for free but was a little concerned on arrival and after asking again was told not to park there or may get a ticket! Anyway service was fast and the waitress wasn’t very welcoming. She wasn’t rude just seemed quite clinical. I had orange chicken which was nice and food was hot. Rice was good and the noodles. My wife’s sweet and sour was a little stale tasted reheated. Waitress seemed a little offended when we asked for water instead of a paid drink. It was 28 degrees. Nothing to shout home about. Take away seemed busy.

Was happy to hear Mr Chans had reopened. Missed their crispy beef and spicy ribs! Went to collect the take away after my evening walk and it was good to see that they put control measures in place too.

Love this restaurant, have been eating in and taking away for 25years, and never disappointed. Have tried many dishes but the crispy chilli beef is a favourite. Owners very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Have travelled around China albeit in the 1990's and during my employment I have travelled to all parts of the u k where I have sampled different Chinese food. It is therefore with some experience that I am able to report this Chinese restaurant is the best I have visited.

7 miembros de nuestro grupo disfrutaron de una comida fabulosa hace una semana cuando nos alojamos en el albergue juvenil. Tuvimos que tomar una sesión de 6 pm ya que estaba completamente lleno. La comida estaba caliente, sabrosa, bien presentada, deliciosa y había un montón de cosas. El personal fue amable y atento. Todos dijimos que era, con mucho, la mejor comida china que habíamos probado, y la mayoría de nosotros hemos viajado mucho. Definitivamente recomiendo este restaurante. Merecería la pena reservar otro fin de semana en el albergue solo para comer en Mr Chans nuevamente.

A lovely meal which was lovely and hot, large portions and not at all dry. Duck particularly nice. vegetarian guests well catered for. Gets quite busy so booking recommended.

We`ve been here once and ordered food a lot of times. My partner loves the duck and I absolutely love the crispy beef strips. Highly recommend it

Having driven past for years and often frequenting the restaurant next door. Decided to give it a go. Much smaller inside than would appear from the outside. Very welcoming and friendly, but was very busy as well. We went for the Yuk Sung as a starter and was really good. For mains, we played it safe with Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chilli Beef, and Kung Po Chicken. Food was good, but perhaps not as good as our favourite takeaway in Warwick and was on the slightly more expensive side. Will we try again ? not sure.

We live local and have had several take aways from here and each time we say that wasn’t great and 6 months later we try again. Well last nights had to be the worst, how they can serve food that cold and preheated is beyond me. I will not be going back again, which is a shame as a take away is a nice treat occasionally, but why would you have from here when the Indian two doors away is great.

Been here so many times, whilst the food is often great they can never get your order correct. Same order messed up at least 5 times now. Last time I’m ordering from here. Doesn’t matter how great the food is, if it’s not what I ordered.

Came here on a Saturday night for a takeway. Although it took a bit longer than anticipated. The food was delicious. We ordered peking ribs, yuk sung, crispy duck,special curry and chicken satay.

Sin embargo, la camarera que nos sentó a nuestra mesa (sin saber su nombre) fue grosera durante toda la noche, tuvo una actitud agresiva y en un momento me sentí tan nerviosa que ya no quería estar en el restaurante. . Éramos 3 y traté de pedir un plato de arranque para 2 y antes de que pudiera terminar lo que estaba diciendo, me dijo que tenía que pedir un plato de arranque para 3, ya que éramos 3, pero le dije que no teníamos tanta hambre y solo queríamos compartir el comienzo para 2. Lamentablemente, ella no aceptaba un no por respuesta y seguía empujando y empujando hasta que tuve que decir que solo dos de nosotros queríamos comer el entrante, a lo que ella preguntó qué tenía la tercera persona como entrante y le dije que no. We booked a table over a week before we planned to visit this place as we know it can get fairly busy at peak times we booked for 6.00pm we booked a certain table in the restaurant in person 8 days in advance, when we turned up despite the table being vacant we were told we hadn't booked it and it was already booked out, not a good start to the evening for us as we were returning form a trip away and on a Saturday evening at that time it was difficult to find an alternative, not happy

My wife and I had a meal here last night, Tuesday 15TH October. We ordered pancake rolls and satay to start followed by just two mains a chow mein and a rice. We also ordered a bottle of the house red. The whole meal together with the wine was delicious and fantastic value, we cannot wait to return!!

This is genuinely the worst Chinese takeaway I have ever had. It was expensive and disgusting... The food did not taste fresh and had a strange taste and smell to it. The reviews I have previously read prior to going to Mr Chans cannot be genuine.... Avoid

We've recently purchased a holiday home at the nearby Rayford Park and others on the park had recommended Mr Chans to us straight away! We were not disappointed when we phoned in our order and collected it within a reasonable time despite it being a busy Saturday evening. The food was not disappointing by a long shot, it was absolutely amazing! Good portion sizes, all very hot, and the taste was delicious! Probably the best Chinese we've had in a long while! We've used them a few times now and each time has been very very good! Would highly recommend to others, as others did to us!

Everything seemed perfect - great food and service but the next day the two people who had the dumplings to start (and commented that they tasted of sausagemeat) were quite ill.

We have been to Mr Chan's in the past and as we were on holiday in Stratford we decided to visit again,I cannot fault the food or service at this restaurant and Charlie the waiter was brilliant.We will definitely return next time we are in Stratford.

We have been using both the restaurant and takeaway and have always been well catered for, the service is excellent and the food is always spot on. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

We called up Mr Chan's to reserve a table for 8 a few days before the Sunday visit to Stratford-upon-Avon and asked if they can do a special request for 2 seafood dishes of "ginger and lobster" and "steamed turbot" fish together with a simple quick fried trumpet mushroom dish. The answer was yes provided that they can get the ingredients on the day. We had a call from Mr Chan's around noon on Sunday to say that the restaurant got hold of the ingredients for these 3 dishes.

It’s been many years since we last ate here and in our quest to find a decent local Chinese restaurant we decided to give this and try and were glad we did.

Lovely meal with friends. Great food and plenty of choice. Would recommend. Not the cheapest perhaps but very good quality and worth the money.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for the clean and comfortable lay out, excellent service and food. I have been a regular over a number of years and I have never been let down. An experience not to be missed.

We visited Stratford this afternoon, and decided that we fancied a Chinese meal for tea, had no idea where to go, and a bit of random googling led us to Mr Chan’s. We’re so pleased that it did. We arrived and were quickly seated, in spite of it being busy. We decided on one of the set meals, and every dish was really tasty and beautifully presented. The prawn crackers to start and the orange slices to finish were a lovely extra touch, too. The food was delicious, the service friendly and efficient, and we left feeling full and happy, always a good combination. It’s a shame that we don’t live nearer, as we would definitely become regulars if we did. Thank you for a really lovely evening.

Five of us greatly enjoyed our visit to Mr Chans last night. When we arrived the atmosphere was humming since three large tables of Chinese tourists were eating - great sign in a Chinese restaurant. The banquet menus are good value and the service was excellent. It was my sons birthday and without prompting the staff presented him with a birthday sorbet adorned with an indoor firework and candle. Brilliant venue.

Been coming here ever since we moved to Stratford 14 years ago. I can't believe some of the reviews I've just seen, they just don't describe our experience of this place at all. The food is consistently great, service polite and friendly, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Would very much recommend food was really nice , fresh hot and plentiful. We didn't book but the got us a table straight away. Staff couldn't be more helpful and when we needed allergy advice for my gluten free mum they knew what she could have no problem.

Llamado para una cena temprana. Arrancador ordenado de yuk cantado y lechuga y plato principal de pollo al curry, pollo sudor y agrio, brotes de soja y arroz frito. He viajado por China y he visitado varios restaurantes chinos en la UK. Esta fue la mejor comida china que he comido. La comida se servía caliente y el sabor era excepcional. El ambiente era el correcto y la mesa estaba colocada correctamente, incluyendo palitos y pequeños tazones de arroz.

Staying at The Limes Hotel just up the road from Mr Chan's, we decided to try this fantastic Chinese again. We were not disappointed. The food was great and the service quick and polite. Do try if you are in the area.

Decidimos volver a este restaurante ya que está cerca de casa. A pesar de que íbamos a caminar, el copropietario muy rápidamente nos ofreció una mesa y disfrutamos de una deliciosa comida. La comida no es barata, pero tiene una excelente relación calidad-precio. El restaurante tiene un ambiente agradable, está limpio, ordenado y bien organizado, a pesar de estar ocupado. El otro copropietario nos dio la bienvenida y ella fue muy cálida y amable, una diferencia enorme con respecto a los días en que el Sr. Chan dirigió el restaurante. No habíamos estado en el restaurante por algunos meses, pero ahora nos convertiremos en comensales regulares, ya que la hospitalidad y la experiencia fueron deliciosas.

We have been eating here for many years and decided for a change we would organise to eat here with our Sales team. We pre ordered as there were ten of us and everything was excellent. We were very well looked after and the food was excellent. Yuk sung spring rolls ribs and seaweed for starters, a whole duck and pancakes then four main dishes, sizzling beef, a chicken, prawn beef in black bean sauce. More than plenty for all. The evening was a success thanks to the excellent food and service with special thanks to Amy she was superb.

We went to Mr. Chan’s for a family night out and hadn’t been for a few years, Tuesday on a cold night in March, so the vibes weren’t great.

Most disgusting greasy takeaway I have ever come across. Prawn toast was seeping in grease along with the worlds most greasiest prawn crackers. The food was tasteless, all you are eating is texture. My friend put it the best 'radio active' food.

We went to this restaurant on Friday night for an early dinner and I can honestly say this is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to. The service was impeccable and the staff were very jolly. The food tasted very fresh and the best chicken in chilli & black bean sauce I have ever had! I highly recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to visit again.

We live in the village and whilst we have had many takeaways we had never eaten in.

Downhill since our last visit. Starters all deep fried and unpleasant. Chicken satay with no sauce. Squid that tasted of nothing but salt and harsh garlic. Tasteless vegetable spring rolls. And crispy duck not prepared at the table. Would not return in a hurry. Waiting staff would also do with looking smarter. Feels very downmarket.

Have just had a chicken satay takeaway. Unfortunately this did not resemble any chicken satay i have ever had in the past from other restaurants. There was no taste of peanut, the sauce was quite red and there was a surprisingly large amount of pineapple and red pepper I would say much more along the lines of a sweet and sour dish. It felt that as it was a Sunday evening they were just using up what they had left. As we don't live that close to the takeaway we ate it anyway but it was not good.

Not to be mixed with the takeaway next door. Staff were very friendly and the food was delicious and plentiful. Steaming hot and very fresh. We had a banquet and there was lots of food. Couldn’t fault it.

Was a little skeptical to get a takeaway from here because of certain reviews, but the food we had was pretty damn good.

My family and went to Mr Chan's resturant, and we adored it. The staff were very nice and the food was tasted impeccable and reasonably priced for what we got. We ordered a set meal and every course on the set meal arrived very quickly one after the other. And the orange slices they gave us to finish up were sweet and full of flavour- just what we wanted after the meal. The decor in thid resturant was very good and you could clearly see that a lot of time had gone into it.

We called in to mr chan’s on a Friday evening, lucky enough we got in without booking,I’m so glad we did as the food was fantastic and the service was really good .

It was Rubbish , Even my dog left it and he normally eats anything. The meat tasted Plastic. I will never go to the place again, and it was,nt Cheap either

Era la primera vez que habíamos estado en el restaurante durante bastante tiempo, aunque desde la última vez que estuvimos allí nos llevamos algunas cosas. La comida era muy buena, me gustó especialmente mi carne con chili y salsa de frijoles negros. El servicio también era bueno y la comida tenía un precio bastante razonable. Recomendado ! !

We had Saturday evening dinner with our 10 years old daughter. The meal was fantastic and staff was very polite and smiling at all times. I would highly recommend! Noodles were amazing!
