First time but not the last, great food, really friendly welcome and service, nothing else to be said. Would definitely recommend.

Had the seafood thali. Served in small dishes a bit how a tapas would be served. The service was great and unlike today's service where they work like supermarkets smashing plate after plate this was not the case. Asked if we wanted time between dishes and they made an evening of it. Prices were reasonable and I will be back again.

I thought I would try this restaurant for a carryout. Ordering over the phone was fairly straightforward, although I found it necessary to repeat myself a number of times before the person taking my order got it right. Chutneys don't do deliveries, so I drove the few miles and parked up in their on-site car park. Initial impressions were positive - the building looks well maintained from the outside and it was full of diners at 7pm on a Friday evening.

Been here several times before and it is always a pleasurable experience. Good atmosphere, great service, tasty food all for a good price. BeeseyDave 🐝

I have to say straight off that although the service is quick, the staff are quite offhand. However, I can’t give this place anything other than five stars because the food is to die for. The paneer mahani is the most amazing vegetarian dish I’ve ever had, and add courgettes to it for an unbelievable treat! The cheese naan is generous and my partner says the chicken spinach Balti is amazing. Good parking is a plus here. I would recommend Chutney’s to absolutely anyone!

We really enjoyed the food and the options were good, however the service was messy. We felt rushed and the waiters were all over the place, in addition to that they needed to iron their shirts.

Food very good but service poor. No continuity on service and the waiter bringing the food out on the trolley looked like he was away with the fairies. Very disappointing to what it used to be

From the outside it looks like a Transport Café, couldn't fault the food - large portions, hot and well prepared.

This is a fabulous restaurant. The food and service was superb. The head waiter Shaf was attentive with a tremendous sense of humour. He was brilliant with the children too. Best curry in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The highlight of my dinner: amazing vegetable samosas, which were the best I've ever eaten. They came with a small side dish of chickpeas in delicious sauce. Given this experience with the appetizer, the entree--chicken rasam, a "manager's choice," according to the menu--must surely be delightful. Actually, no. Fairly bland is an accurate description, and the garlic chili rice was greasy. The garlic naan was decent, at least. By the end of the meal, having sat under a steady stream of hot air from an overhead heating vent, I was ready to get outside into the cool air.

From the outside the restaurant looks more like a transport cafe. However the service from the staff was very good. The interior is in need of a make over, and having boxes of cobra beer stacked by the door is offputting. The food I would say is average. I have used this restauraunt twice(family commitments), butnot a place I would book myself, however the restaurant was quite full of local people, so maybe there is not a better venue in Stratford.

My husband and I have had food from their takeaway service before and highly rated it but never eaten in before

Friday night so quite few people in, we had table of 6 friends who had never been before, always a bit worrying despite your trust! But needn't have worried, Starters and mains, great meals very good service. Comments were extremely positive about variety and menu and when the food came it just got better. 6 different mains six very satisfied people.

Recommended to visit and pleased with the result. A very good menu with some excellent dishes. Highly recommend the Peshwari Naan, sweet and tasty. Chicken starter and Lamb main both very good. Excellent value for a night out. Loads of parking.

Chutneys has been consistently good over many years. Staff are attentive, friendly and give excellent service. The menu is varied combining classics with the chefs specials. Value is exceptional.

I have known Chutneys well over the past five years and have always enjoyed eating here, until now! The quality of the food is always good, but two things are now worrying - the ladies toilet facility is quite disgraceful for a restaurant of this quality, very utility with walls pitted needing decoration, not a good experience at all - the second is new LED lighting over the window tables. It looks like a school canteen and Chutneys please take note, ladies of any age do not like stark white lights directly over our heads. What are you thinking of. Give us warm lighting please and less of it. Hope when I return there that changes have been made. Thank you. Jan

Five of us visited Chutney's tonight and had an excellent meal, one of the best we've had there.Highly recommended

My first visit here, and it was very busy for a weekday evening. Took advantage of their 12.95 offer of a starter, main, side and naan.

we had heard good reviews so called in here for dinner one night, nothing wrong, but nothing great either, it was all just ok, three mains, should have been all very different, but all looked and tasted similar sadly

It was my first time visiting the restaurant. I was unsure of what to expect due to mixed reviews but I must say I was quite impressed. It was clean inside and had a nice atmosphere, the food were good and the staff were really helpful. Would visit again

The freindly staff quickly show you to the table and arrange drinks and starters very quickly. Meal orders are taken and the meal is served in a very short time. A wide selection of choice and the waiters are very knowledgeable on the contents of the menu.

May not be the trendiest Indian in Stratford but offers great flavours, good portions and decent value for money. Both the sit down and take away options are good. I have tried a few curry houses in my time, and this one is up there. New to the area but a real plus as a local option!

After booking a table for My Mothers birthday We were looking forward to going, I myself am not local but have been here for my own birthday a few months back it was amazing. Far from the experience last night. How is it possible to get it so wrong? After waiting over 40 mins the food arrived the waiter started to wipe dirty plates at the table and put them in front of us we stated the plates were grim, no apology and still trying to put them on the table,the food finally arrived it was the worst I've had in a long time, 3 completely different dishes and we could not tell which was which, freezing cold at that I could pick up the hot plates everything freezing Nann bread with cheese was soggy, after complaining no one really seamed bothered. We said we would pay for our drinks and leave £12 they charged us they even charged for the popadoms which where horrible.To top it off as we left we drove out around the back of the building the food was being stored in dreadful conditions store doors open with (fresh) produce left out in the open. Will not be going back anytime soon.

Hemos comido en este restaurante para alrededor de 13 años. Siempre ha sido excelente hasta hace poco. Hace dos semanas tuvimos una mala comida por debajo de la que estaba bajo preparado. Nos pareció que era un mal día. Esta noche se sirve una comida vegetariana y poner el pollo. Lo que está pasando! Esto es totalmente inaceptable. Nos dijeron que había un malentendido en la cocina. We booked a table for a Saturday night, the restaurant was very busy inside and with takeaway​s, plenty of staff around but organisation not the best. food was ok but have had better Indian meals.

Ordered a take away, three main dishes of which two were very dissapointing, no flavour whatsoever, they were like gravy poured over chicken - we ended up throwing them away and so £11 in the bin! We have been having Indian take aways for over 35 years and have never been so dissapointed. We rang straight away and was told to speak with Rob when we go there again. I think not as we won't be going again and telling all our friends not to as well!!

When I was growing up in Stratford there was one Indian Restaurant. Now it seems there are 20+ (or so it seems). Chutney's sounds like it should be awful but it's actually the best I've had in my home town. The food is simply amazing. The story goes that they bring in the chefs from Birmingham so........I've eaten here and I've had take-out - always a cracking meal. Can't recommend this place enough - book though, it always seems very busy.

We found the food was tasty and the staff were friendly. After ordering the wait was longer than we expected, but then again it was a Saturday evening and we hadn't booked. When it arrived the portions were generous but the fish was slightly overcooked and my rice had to be changed as it was cold, but it was sorted quickly. If in that area again we would go again but probably earlier.

We love visiting Chutneys but try to go in the week when they usually have a 'meal deal'. Weekends are often really busy and it's advisable to book. It's equally good for couples, families or groups as they are very accommodating. Great menu choice and friendly device.

We were really very unimpressed with out last (and it will be final) visit to Chutney’s, it was an unapologetically awful experience.We were a party of ten people who travelled fifteen miles specifically to dine once again at Chutneys, we’ve in the past enjoyed some good meals there and so were looking forward to a return after a gap of many months. I suppose it’s true that when you build up to something, you can expect a fall, however we weren’t quite expecting the level of disappointment that we all felt.We arrived in two vehicles, the first arriving ten minutes prior to the other, the first party of five were served drinks immediately, when the second half of the party arrived it took twenty minutes for drinks to appear for them. We started with poppadum and dips, the poppadum were clearly not fresh.Following what seemed to be a very long wait we finally got a waiter to take our orders, starters eventually arrived, most were only lukewarm and so were not great to eat. By this time I’d become frustrated with what appeared to be very lackadaisical service and food quality and so I spoke with a member of the waiting staff and stated very clearly that things needed to improve for the main courses.I was hoping that the complaint would be heeded, but no, the main courses arrived, again lukewarm, three were returned to the kitchen where they were not re-cooked but microwaved.Three of the party ordered chicken madras quite simply because previously it had been so good you couldn’t ignore it, this time I have to say it was quite possibly the worst madras I’ve ever been served, it was watery, had not flavour or heat (it’s a Madras?!), the keema nan lacked meat.Nobody throughout the evening really seemed to give a damn about what they were serving or if they served us as customers. The restaurant was reasonably busy but I’ve witnessed it busier and so this cannot be an excuse; the food quality was the bigger issue, if we have had great food we’d have forgiven a lot, the food quality however was truly truly awful.Chutneys…..never again!!

Have often driven past the restaurant but never at the right time for a meal. Last night was different. Certainly better inside than one would expect from the outside. Nicely decorated and the tables are not crowded together.Service was good and the food was very tasty. Prices very reasonable. Will probably visit again.

Visited earlier this week. Pleasant atmosphere. Excellent selection on the menu. Lots of choice and all reasonably priced. Service was good and there is plenty of parking on site. Will certainly go back again.

WOW... Excellent food or what ordered through just eat Korma for my partner which she loved and a Madras for myself, I put a cheeky note on the order for the madras to be extra hot and just WOW an explosion of flavour and searing heat (could have done with a fire extinguisher) but absolutely wolfed it down, also with the order I had a keema naan which was stuffed full of meat and ordered 4 poppadoms and got 5 so happy days, portion sizes are excellent too, not eaten much today now stuffed, extremely good and would recommend to anyone who likes their curries, both mild and hot

Terrible service and very rude. Arrived at 7pm and did not get starters until 8.40pm, wrong meals, and a very very rude waiter.

We have lived near this restaurant for many years and therefore have been on numerous occasions and always had a great meal. Having not been for about 12 months we decided to go on a Thursday night, not knowing it was a meal deal of £12 for 2 courses. I don't know if this is the reason but the food was tasteless and we actually had to send main dish back complaining of the lack of taste in the dish. It came back with just an additional chilli content so was simply tasteless but quite hot!! The service is quite rushed and impersonal, they are there just to serve you as quickly as possible. I asked if there was a new chef but apparently there isn't so don't really know why this has deteriorated so much, maybe it was just a bad night!

Visited Friday evening for the 1st time even though we have lived in Stratford for many years,Everything was great from being able to park the car to the reception in restaurant to the food everything was superb The waiter also gave advice on different curries and made me a curry that was not on the menu Nothing was to much trouble We saw a lot people arrive knowing the staff so must be regulars Our party of 4 had a great night was not rushed out even though they were busy reasonably priced We will return

My partner and I have just returned from a camping trip at Stratford Racecourse and Touring Park and this diamond of an Indian restaurant is literally a 5 minute walk from the campsite. The food is excellent - myself and my partner enjoy Indian food frequently and have eaten in lots of different restaurants (some average, some good, some excellent) so I consider our views to be unbiased and honest. If I lived in the area, I would enjoy a meal there regularly without question. The service was brilliant - the waiters were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. the décor/setting was also very pleasant. When we next visit Stratford-upon-Avon, we will definitely be eating here again. Try it - you will not be disappointed if you enjoy great Indian food.

This is the fourth time I've eaten here over the last two or three years, and the standard of service and quality of food has never wavered once during that time.

The recent negative reviews almost persuaded my friends and I to cancel a birthday celebration meal tonight. We needn't have worried, the waiters were as efficient as ever; the food was delicious; being a Saturday night we weren't in any hurry and we weren't made to feel we had overstayed our welcome. We travelled a few miles for a special meal and we weren't disappointed. £43 for three people on a Saturday night in Stratford? Good value I'd say!

I live in Stratford and have been going to Chutneys since it opened many moons ago. Unfortunately after yesterdays visit I shan't be attending for a long time, or at least till i hear it has changed. The manager was not there on this occasion, but there were plenty of staff to accommodate the fairly busy restaurant.Firstly the greeting has changed, you used to feel welcomed but now it feels like i'm entering the equivalent of a road-side cafe.Drinks order went well, however we were waiting about 20 minutes to order our mains, i asked one young waiter if we could order to which he said "hang on" then carried on making up a table with napkins, we then waited a further 5 minutes to order with someone else (it's wasn't the type of service Chutney's has provided before, ever).Food- starters were very good, the mains were ok, definitely had better.Our starters came, all good. We then waited for what seemed an eternity for our mains, and because we'd gone past that point we ate a little then asked to take it home after 10 minutes of receiving it, we didn't even bother ordering pudding or coffee etc.The bill- now this was ridiculous. There were 8 tables left, most people on coffees or talking, why oh why we had to wait half an hour to get the bill i will never know, I asked the young waiter (yes same one) for the bill, he then proceeded to go to the till, was there for a while, then ended up serving 2 different tables coffee's, i ended up asking another waiter for it to which he brought it over straight away.We got there at 19;00 and left by 21:30, it doesn't and shouldn't take 2.5 hours for 2 people in a restaurant that has ample staff that long, if it was going to take a while, you should tell us like you used to.Unfortunately this isn't just a on-off bad experience, my brother went there a few weeks ago and also expect had a bad experience or waiting for their main for nearly 2 hours!It's just a shame to see a restaurant that was so brilliant and had fantastic customer service go down hill.I hope you go back to your old way Chutney's I really do.

I live in Stratford and hitherto I have been a fan for the last 7 years. I have reviewed Chutneys on several previous occasions and always given it a glowing report. Sadly, not this time. Something, perhaps the chef, perhaps the management or perhaps something else has changed. Both the food and and the service has deteriorated. Both used to be excellent. This time both were very disappointing. To top it all they gave us a bill that would have overcharged us by £73, yes... £73. When we pointed this out to them all we got was a shrug of the waiter's shoulders and a look if total disinterest. Not a word of apology, just a revised and dramatically reduced, though this time, correct bill.So, my advice is avoid Chutneys and try somewhere else. If you do eat there then check your bill with care.

Took my two young children as they wanted to try Indian food, they were welcomed by very friendly staff who engaged with the children. When the food arrived it was hot and delicious and the gentleman who bought the food over ensured that the kids plates weren't too hot. Overall a really pleasant experience with great food.

Decent Indian food, not the best in Stratford, but definitely enjoyable. Venue is nice and staff are friendly. They do collection takeaway as well.

Very busy when we arrived and had to wait a few minutes for our prebooked table. We were served our chosen drinks and poppadoms promptly but then waited 30 minutes for our order to be taken, nobody came to our table to see if we wanted another drink and our starter arrived around 50 minutes after being seated. The sheesh kebabs were lovely and fresh and we're seven with a genorous amount of fresh salad. Our main was served 1 1/2 hours after being sitter and we had managed to get another drink by miming to a barman!My lamb balti was delicious, it melted in my mouth, unfortunately my partner took one mouthful of her chicken biryani and choked on a bone, needless to say she wouldn't eat anymore.We informed a waiter who offered a glass of wine as recompense which we turned down. The bill, eventually, was given to us and they had charged us for the biryani but upon us questioning it they did deduct it off the bill.Overall we were disappointed as we waited so long between each course and the staff seem disinterested

Had a good meal at Chutneys. The menu was very full - a little too full really, which made deciding more difficult! Started with poppodums and chutneys. All ok, but the chutneys were a little runny making the whole process a bit messy!Moved on to main course - mixed jalfrezi - nicely spicy, and vegetable do piazza - pronounced a little bland. The onion bahjis were excellent and the peshwari naan was not like any other I've tried, with honey drizzled over the top of it. Overall a decent meal- excellent value at £30 for 2 - including 2 drinks.

Surprisingly large restaurant just outside of the town with plenty of parking. They do a very good job of fitting in drop-ins but probably best to book for busy times. Excellent choice of interesting dishes and we have never been let down on quality. Service, quality and value make it a 'keep coming back' regular for us - takeaway too.

This place is a gem, a little way out if town the food never fails to disappoint. It really is great, anything I have chosen from the menu has been lovely, well cooked food. Atmosphere us good and service also very good.

I visited chutneys restaurant to have a take away it was a chicken tikka masala and a chicken korma with naan breads it took ages to the food to come and then they tasted horrible they used way too much sugar and all we could taste was sweet and it cost over £23. We could not eat it so had to throw the lot away. This restaurant used to be so good change the chef and get back to normal!!!

Came for a birthday treat but forgot about father's day so the restaurant was very busy. Bit slow with offering drinks and taking orders but the food was wonderful especially the cheese and onion naan! Would definitely recommend!

We went to Chutney's on the weekend of the beer festival, and it was packed to the rafters. The staff were rushed, but the service didn't suffer appreciably. As ever the food was full of flavour, and served in decent sized portions. If you go on a weekday there's a very good offer where you get more than you can reasonably eat for a more than reasonable price - we always have left-overs which sorts breakfast out the next day. I hear that Chutney's may have to close to build a by-pass from the A46 to the Evesham Road. I really hope the management can find an alternative venue, because that would be a loss to Stratford.

We visited here on a Friday night and this was my first visit. The place was absolutely packed which seemed to be a good sign and despite being a large place and extremely busy it wasn't too noisy and you could hear yourself think.I really liked the menu as it had some really different dishes to your average Indian restaurant and I was excited to try some of it.I must say that I found the food a bit disappointing with a lot of spice but not much flavour - I admit that I picked a spicy curry but it tasted of pure chilli powder and not much else. Others in the group did enjoy their food so it was a bit hit and miss.The service, however, was really poor - it took about half an hour to have our drinks order taken and we arrived at 8 pm and didn't start eating until 9.15 and the waiters weren't overly friendly.Value wise, I thought it was very reasonable and we spent about £17 a head for a two course meal with drinks, beers etc.Would I come back? - I doubt it.

I was invited to Chutneys on the 8th March for a family meal booked for 6.30pm . We were efficiently and promptly seated at a table for six with some appetisers already placed on the table. The restaurant was very busy but despite this the waiter took an order for starters with a few minutes of our arrival. Whilst awaiting the starter the waiter took the order for the mains whilst noting individual requests for additional side dishes. The food overall was served after a little wait on hot plates where we were able to sample dishes other than the ones we had ordered individually. The food was delicious and clean plates were an indication of how much we enjoyed the cuisine . The only criticism however were the gents toilet which are totally inadequate for the number of diners that evening which was well over sixty covers . There was one urinal and one wash hand basin and a w/c in a space so small that only two people could be accomodated at one time.....in fact there was a short queue outside which was most unusual for a gents toilet . This facility needs to be improved and upgraded. I would return without hesitation but please do somthing about the Loos !

From the outside Chutney's doesn't exactly catch the eye, but once you taste the food you will definitely go back! Inside it is decorated in a very colourful fashion and it has one of the most extensive menus I have ever seen in an Indian restaurant. Their takeaway menu is just as extensive and the salmon dishes are amazing! Very few Indian restaurants feature salmon on the menu and the dishes at Chutneys are absolutely lovely.We have visited several times now, both to dine and to collect takeaways, and the food is delicious, always served hot and is good value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Probably the best Indian restaurant in Stratford Upon Avon, the food is always very tasty, with an extensive menu of starters, mains and sundries. The restaurant itself is modern and bright in decor, unlike many, presenting a pleasant atmosphere in which to dine. Service is always exemplary and the staff go out of their way to look after you; they'll happily adjust dishes to suit those who may want it a bit milder. Biggest issue is trying not to over order as the portion sizes are more than ample for most!

We have visited several times now with friends and have enjoyed good service, a fine selection of tasty food and all at reasonable prices. I have picked a different main course each time and have yet to find one I dislike. The menu description makes it easy to pick suitable dishes, although some in our party have tended to select the same each time on the basis that they could not imagine anything better. Each to their own.With popadoms and dips to start I have found the main course with rice to be more than enough, the only shame being that I have not grazed on any side dishes. Maybe I should consider sharing a main and having a couple of side dishes although experience tells me that finding someone willing to share their main dish could be a problem.

Dropped in on spec this evening. The staff we courteous and attentive, popadoms were provided immediately with a good variety of dips. There was a good selection of starters, main courses and sweets and the price was very reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine, it is just outside town with ample parking. Most enjoyable

I have been to this restaurant lots of times with large tables and had very good meals but they have decided to cut the portions down by half which is crazy they should have put the prices up instead I did phone to speak to the manager he was not there I did leave my number he did not phone back so I will not go back Iam a local and did spend a lot of money at this restaurant so it's there loss

Chutney's has been a regular haunt for a number of years and as ever the food was very good with good portions. Staff are always pleasant but service can be extremely slow. Not one to rush meals and happy to sit and enjoy the experience, I think a wait of over 90 minutes is pushing it a bit far towards the ridiculous at times. It's a good idea to book ahead as you can sometimes be caught out on days when you think it is likely to be quiet, only to find a packed restaurant. They must be doing something well.Despite the slowness of service often corrected by a few words, I would recommend Chutney's to anyone looking for a decent meal. Oh they will always bag up anything you can't finish to take home…..

I first visited Chutneys around 2/3 years ago and I remember it being a bit disappointing. I went back around a year or so ago and it was fantastic! Not sure whether it changed hands or something. I have been back around 5 or 6 times since and food is always beautiful. The staff are always pleasant and the atmosphere is great. Would definitely recommend Chutneys to anybody. I have been a regular to chutneys for a couple of years now, i decided recently to go there on a friends outing the service was very poor took 4 hours to receive food. Takeaway is the worst you call ahead they inform you it will take 30 mins but when you get there it takes another 30 minutes very poor service.

Went here for the first time on a Monday night and was astonished at how many people were also there. Had the value meal on offer at £10.95 (Sunday - Thurs) which I can only describe as excellent in every way. Would definitely recommend this restaurant, quality of food is great portions are very large so make sure you are hungry and the price fantastic for what you receive. It was interesting to see most people took doggy bags away with them which tends to support my comments above.

Excellent informal service had a good laugh with the staff. We had a party of 12 all the food came together and everyone got what they ordered. Really enjoyed it everything was delicious and piping hot and the beer was cold what else could you ask.

I came here with a group of people from work for a meal as their meal deal is a very good offer. I understand that having a group of people (10 - 15) can be quite confusing at times but as this was the second time I have come here on the same night of the week and with the same people, all I can say is that the service was consistent. Unfortunately it was consistently not very good service. Drinks were ordered that didn't arrive and some drinks arrived that weren't ordered. My bottle of sparkling water was warm. Some food didn't arrive at the same time as everyone else and, for me personally, I didn't think the food was as tasty as it should be. I also think the staff need to brush up on their customer service skills too. I normally leave a tip when I truly believe that service was great but I didn't on this occasion and neither did anyone else. So to summarise, if you're on a budget it's good but I wouldn't come here for a nice family meal out.

Let's be honest, I've probably eaten over 1,000 curries in my life - some have been great but in rubbish surroundings and some have been rubbish food but in good surroundings. And sometimes you sit looking at the bill and wonder, "what the hell am I paying for?!"So this makes Chutney's pretty rare - great food, great surroundings, great service and (probably) the best-priced Indian restaurant in Stratford.Nothing seemed to be too much trouble - and the chilled bottles of Cobra were a welcome drink when the madras kicked in.The staff were great - willing to chat and engage with their customers, the ambiance was perfect and the portions pretty much bang on.If you love a curry, check out Chutney's.

Celebrating our 46th Wedding Anniversary with our daughter and family, great service and excellent food

Been here many times over the years and the food is consistently good and the £10.95 deal is great value. However, service had gone downhill - ordered drinks that never arrived and had to re-order from a different waiter, asked for a fork that never showed up - eventually another waiter grabbed one from an empty table. Bill brought to us even though we never asked for it. Will probably go back but they need to maintain standards or will lose custom.

Love Indian food, Probably had most dishes on the menu, don't know why I haven't reviewed it before. Good value for money, very friendly staff. Can't fault the food it's great.

I have been to Chutneys late at night, early evening, mid-week and weekends! The service is always friendly, prompt and efficient - great place to eat! Great team and always happy to substitute or come up with suggestions. Their Mon-Thurs special is also great - starter, main, nan, rice and veg for £10.95! Loads of food and always good when there’s a load of you as you can try others curries!And its not just quantity but always quality! Well worth a visit!

The building half way up Borden Hill just outside Stratford-upon-Avon about 1 - 2 miles from the centre used to be a showroom. However, it has plenty of car parking and inside has been nicely set up in a very contemporary style. We have been eating at Chutney's for years and it never disappoints. Friendly stable staff and good cooking combine into a good value meal.

We eat here on a regular basis. The service is very good and the food is excellent. One of the best Indian restaurants we have eaten in. If you look at it from the outside it doesn't look very inviting but ignore this and go in. Inside it is very nice and very welcoming. You wont be disappointed with the menu selection or the good
