The curries taste great but they're pretty oily. The food has great flavour so full-marks from me for Food. Shame they don't do the red onion sauce which is my absolute fav. Cheers guys for many nice dinners.

Ordered a takeaway here with my partner. Both had a bad experience. The food was not fresh, made us both violently ill. Spoke politely to the new owner (been for years) who was rude, no loyalty to customers and won’t be going back. AVOID!!!

We are long standing customers of this Indian and the food is usually excellent however we ordered a delivery which was originally promised within 60 mins then updated to 80 then 20 mins later I called.. much confusion ..but it eventually arrived 10 mins later. The food was very good but the delay spoilt the evening with friends. Unfortunately our recent experiences in the restaurant were poor because they were focused on takeaways. Its a shame but I think they are trying to do too much with too few staff and therefore doing nothing particularly well.

The food is always good and the staff always helpful and friendly. Some great menu items, and they happily take bespoke, off-menu orders.

Came up from canary wharf in east London to see family and was so surprised by the food and the service , can't praise enough how good the food was .. Absolutely superb in every aspect

Food was amazing. Had Number 17 with coconut rice. Bring your own drink. With poppadoms under £20 a head. Will be back.

Awful. Waited 1hr40 mins for takeaway. When calling the restaurant to chase the order after 1hr 10 the staff were rude and dismissive, got the impression they had forgotten our order. They hung up on me and then refusing to answer the phone so we had no idea if our food was coming or not. Arrived after contacting Bookyup and they were able to chase it for us.

I was out for a night on business and found this place by accident. I ordered a takeaway and was amazed at the price especially in crazy 2023 - the staff were really friendly and the food I had was really very good in all fairness. I had a mushroom rice and a Chicken Dansak and they were both first class for a Tuesday night on my own in a hotel room away from home. Tasty and great value for money. I’d go back here without question. Fair’s fair and speaking as I find and all that.

Great food at a reasonable price, not stingy with portions.

Picked up a takeaway. The order was wrong on pick up - good job I checked. Despite phoning the order in advance it took 25 minutes after arrival for the food to be ready which was an hour after order. We had chicken tikka masala and king prawn bhuna - each dish was just sauce and about 5 small pieces of chicken and the same for the prawn dish. We absolutely did not enjoy the food we ate. A really disappointing experience and very unnecessary.

Overall service good and food was tasty however the dal was quite runny compared to others (and I have had plenty). Restaurant was not cleaned properly, there was a sense of grubbiness plus a customer's hoodie found on floor under table from the previous night which shows no cleaning took place. Nice piano music over speaker.

Oily. Salty. Dry chicken. If you want to be chewing your food for 10 minutes a mouthful then sure go here. I was only partially refunded for my meal, even though I had to return all my food. Not impressed. Don’t waste your time.

Brilliant find - small cosy restaurant with great service. I got a takeout which was delicious and my guests all agreed. I've been all over the UK and the food holds it's own against anything in Leicester or Brum. Fantastic hidden gem - I will certainly have them on speed dial.

Delicious curry’s and friendly service!

Usually very happy with the service and the quality of the food at Bengal Cuisine. The delivery turned up with half the order was missing. Called the restaurant and the manager was rude and obtuse.

Regrettable return hoping for improved cooking was bitterly disappointed. The food was a collected takeaway and was so bad we couldn’t eat it! The quality of the chicken and “lamb” was poor, the flavours not right and everything swimming in an oily emulsion! It will be another 5 years or so before I try this Indian restaurant again when hopefully the chefs will be different.

We visited this restaurant on Thursday 25 August. The food was outstanding and the service second to none. The prices were very reasonable and they gave 10 per cent discount. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and were made to feel most welcome.Would highly recommend a visit to taste the amazing food. They do not serve alcohol but you can take your own.

Arrived bank holiday Monday at cottage destination in Stretton On Fosse and ordered a takeaway, arrived when said it would and very polite. Food was good and arrived nice and hot. Good service nice person on the phone.

The initial impression wasn't great, the room was very cold and in different stages of refurbishment. It should be OK when completed. I was aware that the service was a little stretched between the restaurant and the take away trade but it wasn't really a problem for us. The waiter (owner) did a great single handed job. The menu is the familiar "traditional" Bangladeshi offering. Unfortunately I made the very rare mistake of opting for the Shorisha, as I was advised it was flavoursome. To be fair the mustard oil did clear my sinuses. The wife's Balti was pleasant enough and the sides were very good. . The prices are surprisingly competitive considering the location and lack of competition. What was also very surprising is that it's unlicensed and you can take your own alcohol. I am thinking this is a rarity in the Cotswolds. Parking could be a bit of a problem.

I cook a lot of beautiful Indian food because I just love it. The food from this restaurant is like it’s decor: soulless and tasteless. All of it screams that absolutely no one cares. I’m just left wondering what to hell I’m eating. Not a good feeling. Everything about this place requires immediate attention.

Our "go to" when we need an Indian meal fix. Eat in or take-out, the food is first class and the staff are lovely. Prices are sensible, especially in this tourist trap area where, quite frankly, prices can be ridiculous. They do collection & delivery. Delivery in a certain radius. Can't comment on the delivery service as we're outside that radius. The only reason I've taken one star away is because sometimes, when you order a take-out, you arrive at the time given to collect but find yourself waiting quite a bit longer for the food. It's a bit of a pain but we love the food, so it's something we accept might happen occasionally. Well worth a try, but don't blame me if you're hooked!

Made a delivery order based on so many amazing recommendations within the town. Well, it was just average at best. Not any much meat and the flavours were very two dimensional and no depth of flavour. Won’t be going back

We have had many takeaway meals from the Bengal Cuisine over the past year. The vast majority have been really good and some dishes have been excellent. We have eaten in many Bangladeshi/ Indian restaurants over the years and Shipston is fortunate to have this restaurant on its doorstep. In busy periods meals can be delayed but this is the case in many small restaurants and the food is worth waiting for. Give it a try on quieter nights.Thank you Bengal Cuisine well done.

Took 2 and a half hours to deliver my food then when it arrived it was cold ! This is the second time this has happened not impressed at all! Also got told it was out for delivery and half an hour after that it still hadn't arrived so it was sat in the car for over half an hour ! Disgusting!

Started so well... Quick to be seated and drinks and poppadoms... That was after 5 minutes. 90 minutes later food hadn't arrived. Waste of time. Waste of Life. Waste of Money. Shyte service. Shyte food. The blandest Indian food ever eaten. Seriously avoid, no apology. No trying to communicate. Just a huge disappointing Saturday evening. There were only 9 customers in the restaurant, 3 tables. The rest of the trade from take away. Complaints left right and centre from customers ordering take away. An absolute farce.

Sat at the table for half an hour waiting to be served, eventually gave up and walked out. Lot of other people in there waiting to be served...wouldnt bother if you're planning on eating in.

Ordered online, took 2 hours to deliver and when eventually it turned up it was cold. Rang twice during the 2 hours only to have the phone put down on me. Such a shame as it all started off so well,,

Great food. I was really impressed. The boss explained that they bus the team in from Birmingham every day. It definitely showed. Top class curry. Remember to BYOB.

We ordered a meal for 5, takeaway. They missed an item even though we checked with them before leaving. 4 different curries all tasted the same with way too much tomato, should have ordered spaghetti instead of rice. Awful, worse curry I've ever had.

Ordered online at 5.20. Appreciate they don’t open until 5.30, but order not accepted until 6.15?! Advised would be 60 mins for delivery. Tried phoning throughout this time and no answer! Just basic ‘no one is available to answer your call message’ (doesn’t even say you’re through to Bengal). Finally arrived at 7.30. Meal was luke warm and biryani curry was full of sweet corn and peas. Certainly won’t be using them again. Their reason when I asked on delivery of the time delay and not answering phone - we come from Birmingham!

There's nothing exciting about this restaurant. It's very middling - nothing amazing, nothing horrendous. Food OK. Staff pleasant. Room ok, although a bit cold - hence portable gas heater. So ... rather disappointed. Was going to give it a 3, but then the amount of rubbish furniture piled up around the place, and the decrepit state of a store cupboard in the main (small) restaurant and especially the fact that the manager (?) was going through his invoices on the main counter as we left just made me feel they weren't really that committed to a good meal experience. A shame.

We called for tea on Sunday night while having a few days in Shipston, the meal was bland and very ordinary. The mango chutney resembled puréed baby food, the mains were bulked out with lots of onions but the Bombay potatoe was probably the highlight.

Awful. Lukewarm meals and no flavour. Just mashed up baby food. No atmosphere, dodgy looking calor gas fire for heating and the most miserable staff. Avoid.

Delicious meal. Excellent, friendly and quick service (which was handy with small hungry kids!) Each dish we had was very good. Wish it was my local. Sadly live far away! Highly recommend the chicken makni if you like mild creamy dishes and my husband had a hot vegetarian dish he enjoyed.

Vivo a unas 20 millas de este restaurante y no puedo ir muy a menudo, pero vale la pena el viaje. Hay un extenso menú para tentar a todas las papilas gustativas y el personal siempre está allí para asesorarte si es necesario. Naz es un maestro de cocina y produce los sabores más sorprendentes. El restaurante tiene un ambiente encantador, está limpio y ordenado. Nunca estoy decepcionado, realmente debería ir más a menudo.

Although two of us enjoy curry on a regular basis, two of us rarely do. It was so nice to have a friendly waiter who patiently found delicious food for all of us.

Our first trip back to Shipston since we moved away 5 years ago, but great to see Mr Ali and Naz once again. The food is still excellent, best Tarka Dall in the country.
