Avon Spice in Stratford-on-Avon

Stayed in nearby campsite and found this takeaway online as they deliver. Placed order but the food was completely tasteless. Worst curry I’ve ever had. Glad I’m not local as would never order from there again.

Very outdated and could do with more than a lick of paint. Food was no where near good enough to warrant returning, to add it was barely warm. Staff very friendly and welcoming, which is why I have not graded any lower.

Unobtrusive yet attentive service and decent Indian food. My wife had a dansak while I had a biryani. Both tasty and decent sized portions. One downside, naan bread was tasty but quite greasy.

I placed an order online when the guy delivered the food he was busy on phone on Facebook . The food was heavy, plain , very oily. There was Lack care and to detail . Nothing special about it and I personally didn't enjoy the meal . Overall experience 1 out of 10 Also because food so oily and greasy it upset my tummy . Won't be ordering again

Reallly poor service. Called for a takeaway for collection was asked to wait a few seconds… five minutes later… I hung up. Could hear the proprietor chatting away to some folks in the background about selling cars and Instagram. Exceptionally poor

Been here a few years ago while visiting Stratford. Went boxing day night,great menu and choice. The waiter was very helpful and friendly service was good. We often go for a curry at home but this was simply the best. Garlic mushroom starter large portions, poppadoms and pickles 4 pickles to choose from. Chicken dopiaza and chicken jalfrezi absolutely spot on had with chips a bottle of cobra each £40 . Warm hand wipes and chocolates even offered us a free shot and staff were so appreciative that we had enjoyed our meal. Great job well done all

We ordered a takeaway while we were staying at Stratford upon avon for the victorian christmas market. Arrived earlier than expected and was one of the best we have had, would definitely order again when staying in this area

Found this on TripAdvisor.....reviews looked overall good , ordered some poppadoms and dips , had the set meal c , the chicken dish was a little bland otherwise OK , the older staff member (maybe the owner) wasn't particularly friendly , all the other staff were excellent, I would go back and try something different

Since moving to Warwickshire over a year ago we have struggled to find a good curry house in leamington area. Avon Spice was recommended by a couple of people. Tried it for the first time tonight and can honestly say it’s the best curry we’ve had in ages. Very tasty. The drive is about 20/30 mins but worth it. We will be back soon for another takeaway.

Spotted this gem on Tripadvisor and followed the reviews. Top food had a garlic chicken chilli , veg kormas , naan breads chips rice and popadoms and trays . All excellent tasty and fresh good portion sizes and cost £40 quid including 2 drinks . Definitely would recommend and go again if visiting Stratford. Staff friendly and accommodating and ordered us a taxi at the end that arrived within 2 minutes 👍

I had the lamb pathia. It wasn't even a pathia. Far from it. And it made me ill for nigh on three days. To be shunned, whatever locals may say.

Our visit to this restaurant, we were made very welcome, an immediate rapport with the staff. The food and service were really good and the price was very reasonable. We would certainly go again if we were in this area.

Wow!!! Great food. Hot. Full of flavour. Fresh. Quick service/delivery. A veggie madras and a chicken dansak. Sagaloo to share. Special rice each and 3 poppadums. 8 were delivered!! With free dips and a good price, there is nothing to warrant under 5 star!! We will be ordering from there again, and i would highly recommend. Thanks guys at Avon. Beautiful meal.

The poppadoms and chicken tikka were fine. Chicken pakora was dreadful and curries poor. Buckets all over the landing access to the very grubby toilets difficult.

I did not even order when then mentioned that the delivery fee is £3.50 ahhhh #shocking. I live 10 min walk away. Will not be ordering again. It just seems greedy in these horrible times. Instead ive just ordered from another curry house with a cheaper delivery fee.

As it was recommended by a friend I thought I'd try Avon Spice. Something just didn't taste right about my curry. The chicken had alot of gristle. Really put me off.

Visited Avon Spice whilst on holiday in February. Staff were exceptionally friendly, food was lovely and came out very quickly, piping hot and fresh! Very reasonably priced, with generous portion sizes, and the house white was delicious. Will definitely be returning if we come back to Stratford upon Avon- thank you Avon Spice for a lovely meal.

I actually walked passed as there was no one in at all, 8pm, so was not too sure, it was a Tuesday night though! Anyhow I really fancied curry so gave it a go. Very reasonable prices and great tasty food. Attentive staff who made sure all was good. Chicken tikka Pathia was delicious. Going back when in Stratford for sure.

I have to say I was not sure the Naan,Starter,Main and Rice deal would be any good. £11.95Boy was I wrong, great food , good service, met the Chef who wanted to check my main was ok. He gave me a deal on an extra starter as well.It’s not the Bombay Brasserie but it is good Indian food at very sensible prices including proper dons and a pint with extra starter less than £20.The following night I pretty much had a similar meal in another establishment in the town the service was not as good and it was over £35

The best indian in Stafford don’t be out off by outside first impression eaten here many times never had a bad meal , great selection , chef will cook to order of asked , their special offer menu is unbelievable value for money , don’t look further

Went here for a birthday celebration last year. The staff were friendly and the food was very nice, but nothing to write home about, especially the desserts. Not a lot of choice on desserts. The restaurant is small and cramped, with tables very close together. Parking is non-existent as it is on a main road so plan ahead as you will need to find a car park.

Wish I’d seen the food hygiene rating prior to ordering. The lamb tikka pathia was outrageous! The lamb was so tough, like chewing on a pigs ear. The complimentary cobra must’ve been a warning from god that the meal I have just received was about to be a huge disappointment. Thanks for nothing.

We have dined here several times recently and have had consistently great meals. Loads of options on the menu and if you're still not sure ask for a recommendation. The service is brilliant too - unfailingly attentive and helpful.

Another great meal with friends at Avon Spice. We’re local so have tried almost all the Indians in Stratford before choosing Avon Spice as clearly the best. The dishes are individually prepared, not generic curries like some places. The decor is modest but newly refreshed. Value is amazing. I recommend it unreservedly.

If you are in Stratford you must visit this restaurant. Try the fantastic chicken chilli garlic curry and the prawn vindaloo. However they do the best starter ever. .special mixed sizzler, it is beautiful. We travel all over the country every weekend and this restaurant is by far the best we have ever been to. The staff are really friendly and the chef always comes out of the kitchen for a chat. Definitely 5*****.

This restaurant is a little out of the centre. I was part of a group of about 10 people who booked a table. Whilst the food was pretty standard Indian fayre, and the atmosphere won't win any awards, I was very impressed that they were able to serve us all at the same time, and service throughout was friendly and efficient. The food was also very reasonably priced.

We ordered a take away last night and asked if it could be delivered to the holiday park we are staying at. Nothing was s problem , the driver phoned me when he was coming close so I could meet him at the gate. Really impressed with the service. However the curries we had were the best I’ve ever had. Absolutely delicious!! Such a shame we live too far away for it to be a regular but will definitely order again when we come back. Thank you AvonSpice for the great service and food

This modest establishment carries a wide array of authentic Indian food from multiple regions. My wife and I opted for one of the non-vegetarian tasting menus which was more than we could possibly eat and contained an array of well known chicken, lamb, and vegetable dishes with the usual array of condiments, chutneys, and, sauces to mix and match with the various dishes. Everything was freshly made and the service was attentive. Recommended!

We visited this restaurant whilst on a break in Stratford and the meal was excellent. The outside is a little drab, but the interior is very nicely decorated, the staff friendly and attentive (without being over-attentive), and the food was the best Indian food we’ve eaten in a long while. It was excellent value too. We really couldn’t fault anything about the evening and we’re glad we hadn’t gone to the more expensive Indian restaurants in the centre of town. Would definitely come here again when we’re next in Stratford.

We visited here while spending a few days in the area over Bank Holiday. I've visited a fair few curry houses up and down the country. Gotta say, the curries here are pretty much the best curry I've had. The lamb tikka rogan josh was to die for. So so tasty.

I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant. My wife and I went after reading good reviews on here and weren’t disappointed. The food is superb, I had the garlic chicken after a recommendation on here and it was beautiful, my wife had chicken tikka malaya, we both had a starter and went from the fantastic value £10.95 menu. The service was amazing, all of the waiters were so attentive, service was quick but not too quick, and the chef came out to ask how the food was. We both wished that this was our local Indian as we’d be going every week. Superb choice if you’re in Stratford-upon-Avon

Although at first sight, the Avon Spice Restaurant looks a little run down, this is very deceiving as the food and service are superb. The serving team was welcoming, friendly and very helpful. I visited with two of my sons and we all had Tandoori Chicken as our starter and it was moist and bursting with flavour. Our main courses were equally impressive. I had Chicken Madras with pilau rice and it was quite possibly the most flavoursome, tender and enjoyable that have ever tasted! To top off what I can only describe as an excellent Indian meal, it was very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed.

In my eyes, Avon Spice is the best Indian Retaurant for miles around! I visit there on a regular basis and am always treated the the utmost respect. Cabby, who is the Chef/owner, certainly takes his cooking to heart, serving up top quality food always!

This was our third takeaway from here. Previously had A + C from menu,fantastic. Went back tonight had C ,all portions were excellent except for overcooked onion bajis and naan bread which was doughy and heavy and slightly undercooked due to this. Will come back again and dine in .

This is the best restaurant in Stratford-upon-Avon. I have been coming here ever since it opened (way back, probably about 20 years) and have never once had a bad meal. The staff are super friendly, the service is fabulous, the meal deals are unbelievable. Highly recommended.

We visited stratford for the day taking in the sites of the shakespear museum and had a boat ride down the river, We decided to have a sit down meal at on the way out of stratford town, We stumbled upon Avon spice, The staff were amazing so welcoming and humble, The service and food was incredible, the special biryani and sheesh kebabs were amazing, We cant wait to return.

Avon Spice is great. Second time we have ordered and on both occasions the food arrived early. It’s hot and it’s tasty and we got a free beer the first time and free poppadoms this time. The delivery driver was ever so polite and wished us a happy new year. Simple gestures go a long way. Will definitely order again (after a period of dieting!!!)

We ordered the set meal for four, something we wouldn't usually do, but it seemed to have a good mix of dishes at a reasonable price. Delivery was very quick given that it was two days before Christmas. The large box contained four starter dishes, five main courses, together with two types of naan, poppadoms and various condiments. All the food was excellent, although we found the naans a little thick and doughy. We certainly got a very good range of dishes and far more than we could eat, in fact it did us another meal the next day. Great value!

Sat here writing this review. Too many mistakes, didn't stay. Ordered chicken chaat and chicken pakora for starters, 2 lots of what they said were pakoras came out, wrong order. Quickly changed but my pakora was full of chick peas and looked more like a bhaji. Questioned this and they said that this was due to customer demand and menus hadn't been changed in 12 years. Chaat was good, Cobra beer always good but didn't stay for mains.
